i love muku & juza’s dynamic as cousins! i think they’re so cute and have the best sibling–esque relationship ever so i’m glad to write for both of them~ sorry for the delay, i hope you love it!!!
summary: who said romance couldn’t be a little cliché?
warnings: fighting, robbery, tripping
author’s note: i found it funny how similar i thought muku and juza would act as boyfriends~ just a small thing to point out! nothing to say except i researched every shoujo manga cliché in the book i swear... expect All Of Them in muku’s (i apologize for using kabedon T___T, that is all)
word count: 5,105 (total) — 2,698 (muku), 2,407 (juza)
music: adore u – seventeen (muku), dumb dumb – jane jang, giant pink perc%nt (juza)
clichés.
🌻👑 sakisaka muku
muku felt like he was in a shoujo manga
except, you were the bishounen prince!
you were a shoujp cliché: you were st. flora’s resident prince~ you were treated as royalty and had the largest following ever known to the school
you could say muku was apart of your fanclub, apart of the adoring students who crowded around you with presents and gifts just to see how cool & suave you were
although he always admired from afar, muku definitely dropped everything he was doing to watch how effortlessly awesome you were at making everyone fall at your feet and swoon over your natural charisma and charm
he wanted to be just like you! you were just like a manga prince, muku wanted to learn everything about being the most popular student at st. flora and become the shoujo prince he always wanted to be!
but, you were always with someone. whether it be at your locker and spilling tons of flowers & chocolates on the ground, or signing autographs at lunch with a flawless smile, or even competing at seasonal schoolwide events and winning without fail, you were never alone
muku wanted to be friends with you! you were so cool and everything he aspired to achieve, but he resigned himself to complimenting you to others and making heart eyes across the room at your dreamy persona
it wasn’t until he was walking to class before he tripped, bracing himself to hit the floor but to no avail. instead, a strong arm was wrapped around his waist as he heard the loud slam of a hand beside his head. he was being leaned against a wall, it couldn’t be...
when muku opened his eyes, his books pressed tight against his chest, he swore you sparkled in the sunlight. oh my god, you were basically pinning him to the wall! you had your arm outstretched to support him as you looked down on him like the true royalty you were
you had did it! it was muku’s first kabedon!!! (experiencing the sound a character’s hand makes when it slams into the wall and pins the protagonist to the wall)
“uwah... you saved me...” muku was amazed, practically speechless. everyone at st.flora’s crush was holding him in their arms. he wanted to squeal and roll around on the ground, he knew his cheeks were red and his eyes were hearts but he liked you so much! you were a real prince!
you smiled, like you’ve done this a thousand times before you gently let him go, helping muku steady to his feet while insisting on carrying his books to class
“i’m so glad you’re not hurt~ a cute baby face like yours must be protected at all costs!” you sweetly said, and muku’s heart skipped a beat. he couldn’t believe it, you, his crush, were helping him! you wanted to talk to him, he must’ve hit his head and gone to heaven because this could not be real!!!
“muku, right?” you carefully asked, adjusting the grip on his bag as you made sure nothing fell. the corridor was filled with hushed whispers and jealous rumors swirling past the duo. both you and muku walking to the same homeroom class that morning, easily making comfortable conversation despite muku’s shyness
“you know my name?!” muku squeaked, unaware you even knew who he was. you giggled, brushing your hair out of your face as you smiled, a light blush dusted across your nose at the shock
“of course, i’ve gone to your track meets before, you’re so fast~” you complimented, going to pat his head with sincere affection. muku nearly passed out—his crush used to go to his matches! his crush just said he was fast! was he, oh my god, your friend?!
“i... i, thank you! i’ll become even faster for you!” muku spluttered, trying to get the right words out as he nervously glanced down at his uniform, trying to keep his composure. how were you so cool? you effortlessly laughed, shaking your head with absolute kindness as you waved hello to the underclassmen practically begging for your attention
“no need, muku! i like you the way you are, it’s so nice to finally talk in person.” you comforted, walking side by side as you two had the entire school’s attention. every student was gossiping, wondering how muku was friends with the school prince
muku was about to become overwhelmed with all the praise he was getting! flustered, muku shyly laughed and rubbed the back of his neck, avoiding eye–contact even though both of you were in the same grade
you weren’t his senior by any means, you were just so popular it felt like you were in a completely different social level
muku couldn’t believe it! you, the most popular prince with the biggest fanclub ever, was walking him to class! it was the most perfect day ever, he wished he fell more just so you could catch him!
when you two arrived, muku couldn’t help but feel disappointed. you must’ve noticed, because you hummed a concerned tone as you rested your hand on muku’s shoulder, looking at him like he was the only person in the world (muku swore he was never going to wash his uniform ever again)
“muku? are you alright? i can take you to the nurse if you’d like.” you offered and muku’s lovesick heart almost said yes even though he was completely okay, he just wanted to be by your side again
“n–no! i’m okay! thank you so much!” muku slightly bowed his head, trying to show respect as you placed his books at his desk and strapped his bag around the back of the chair with ease (oh my gosh, you knew his desk?! you knew where he sat?)
“call for me anytime you want to chat, muku! you’re such a nice person!” you said before you went to your seat in the front row, immediately getting surrounded by your fans and friends alike as they all fought for your undivided attention
muku let out a breath he wasn’t aware he was holding, dropping in his seat and focusing on the board to remain as invisible as possible. his heart was pounding rapidly against his chest, his hands were shaking, and muku was sure his whole face was red and sweating from the short encounter
you knew he existed! you knew his name! you knew you two shared the same homeroom! you even knew he used to be on track and came to his meets! muku put his hands against his cheeks, trying not to scream as he felt how hot his face was. you knew he was a real person!!!
unknowing to muku, you barely focused on the crowd as your eyes naturally fell upon muku’s frame, smiling and missing the way everyone swooned over your affectionate expression
(“who are they smiling at?! i bet it’s at me!” “no, they’re clearly looking at me, do they like me?!” “aaa!!! our prince is so cool and royal, we’re so lucky to be graced with a smile!”)
you always liked muku, you found him to be so cute and adorable that you wanted to be friends. but, muku was an anxious wallflower who didn’t want to have the whole school know who he was. you wanted to support him, but you were uncertain on how your reputation as “st. flora’s prince” would affect him
but rescuing muku this morning was necessary, you didn’t hesistate to drop your items before running down the stairs to catch the cute boy. when he opened his shiny blue eyes with a fond but shy smile, your heart soared and it felt like meeting prince charming for the first time
his pink hair was soft, like cotton candy. muku was made of everything sugary sweet and nice, you wondered why he didn’t follow you like the others. you wanted his adoration, his love, his romance because he was so cute!
you looked at muku again and smiled when you caught his eye, holding in a light laugh when he nearly yelped and looked straight down at his paper, hiding his shaking hands in his lap with an extremely embarrassed blush
you wanted to be friends with the nicest boy at st. flora!
the next time you talked to muku was during gym. you had finished sprinting your last lap, accepting a water bottle from someone as you took a chug, automatically looking around for a certain pink–haired boy
he was no where in sight, before you remembered how he significantly finished the mile much faster than you. you told your friends you were going to change, leaving the field with a peace sign as your fans collectively broke into excited squeals
you were about to go searching before you caught sight of muku’s book bag, turning your head to see he was reading something under the bleachers
you casually went over, dropping down next to him despite being sweaty from the run. muku jumped, tensing up once he saw it was you as he smiled nervously, shutting his book quickly
“hi! you did so well on the run today, muku!” you praised him, leaning over to look at the cover of what he was reading, not noticing how red his face was from how close you two were
“oh? you read manga?” you innocently asked, noticing the sparkles and roses decorating the front cover as muku put it back in his bag in a hurry, laughing nervously as he tried to make up every excuse
“n–no, not at all! i’m just, i um... i found it!” muku blabbered, not sounding very convincing as you slowly nodded, trying to comprehend whatever he was saying. you just looked again and shrugged
“that’s too bad~ i, myself, really enjoy that series, i haven’t read the latest volume yet, though.” you sighed, pretending to push yourself up before muku caught your wrist in his soft hand with a surprisingly strong grip, you felt your heart nearly explode with confetti
“you can read it! i just finished, actually! i love it, i didn’t know you liked manga, too!!!” muku quickly offered it to you, and you carefully took it to make sure you didn’t bend or damage the pristine copy. muku really took care of his manga, huh?
“muku! you’re the best!” you exclaimed, pulling him into an one–armed hug. his uniform shirt was ironed to perfection and smelled like flowers, just like what you thought! you turned your head to grin at him, but pouted when you saw him freeze up
“muku? are you okay?” you asked, unintentionally moving in closer as you examined his red face. muku.exe had stopped working all because you were too cute for your own good!
you glanced at his lips, about to ask if this was okay, but...
before you two knew it, the bell rang as the clasd started heading back inside to the gymnasium. you stood up this time, holding your hand out with a wink like an elegant prince would
“let’s go back in~ i’ll walk you to class!” you offered again, excited when he gently took your hand and walked side by side. it didn’t take long before you began waiting outside his classroom door when the schedules differed, automatically taking his books and asking muku about his day
one day, it wasn’t until muku was at his shoe locker until he noticed a heart–shaped love letter placed inside. as always, he opened it, the butterflies in his stomach fluttering from the familiar signature
“meet me at the school rooftop, i have something i want to confess — your secret admirer ♡”
muku had been receiving small letters and gifts from the same person who signed their items with a heart at the end. for some reason, muku treasured this anonymous person much more than he’d like to admit; they brought up details only a friend would notice, gave thoughtful gifts that actually related to his true personality, and made him smile for the entire day
so when muku came up to the rooftop after school that day, he didn’t expect to see you waiting for him with another white envelope with a heart–shaped sticker holding it closed
“please accept my letter~” you held it out with both hands, trying to stop your hands from shaking as you smiled. muku stood there, jaw dropped from the shock as his head started spinning
how could you, the person he liked so much, end up liking him back?! he wasn’t a prince like you, but here you were, taking him to the school rooftop to confess your feelings like you were afraid he was going to reject you
“you like me?” muku choked out, staring at the letter as the sun started setting, the golden sunlight illuminating your shadow as you nodded, your confidence beginning to falter when you noticed how flustered muku was
“i like you, muku.” you confessed, about to put your hands down before muku pulled you into an abrupt hug, causing you to drop the letter as he put his head on top of yours
“i like you so much, i like you, too.” muku mumbled, keeping you in his arms as he leaned back to place a very gentle kiss on your cheek
as the polite and nice prince, you continued being constantly kind and proper to every student, but reserved much more affection and love towards your boyfriend, muku
but he liked doing everything a prince would do for you: buying you bouquets of red roses, gently holding your hand through the hallways, cheering you on the loudest at events, baking you chocolates on valentine’s day, making you bento boxes for lunch out of the goodness of his heart
he was much more of a prince than you could have ever been!
muku liked serving you like you were the ruler of his kingdom. to him, you weren’t just any prince, you were the monarch of his heart and he was your faithful, valiant knight that would have done anything to protect you
but sometimes, he got insecure over if he was good for you. you were so cool and loved by everyone, so he doubted why you even liked him when you could have dated anyone in the entire school
“i don’t understand... why do you like me?” muku once asked, shyly staring down at his feet as you whipped your head towards him in shock, stopping yourself from eating lunch. you two were sitting underneath the cherry blossom tree on top of the hill, alone as you stared at him, trying to understand why he’d ever self–deperecate on himself when he was the sweetest boy alive!
you were about to respond with all the reasons why before you stood up, about to go on a rant before you accidentally tripped over your own shoe lace. you accepted the fate you were assigned: which was falling onto the dirt before a strong arm looped around your waist, a hand slamming into the tree bark to keep you from falling
it felt like the first time rescuing muku all over again, except this time, you were the one being saved. you opened your eyes and smiled, kissing him on the lips before pulling back. muku was sparkling like a 90s glitter shoujo scene, making you swoon for your perfect boyfriend
“that’s why i like you, because you’re my prince.” you said, brushing your hand through his hair like you couldn’t believe you were in his arms. before you knew it, muku picked you up princess–style and gathered the bags with ease (you always forgot how strong he really was)
“muku! put me down!” you giggled, ignoring your own blushing cheeks as you playfully slapped his arm. muku just continued down the hill, turning to look at you with all the love and devotion in the world
“i can’t, you’re my prince.” muku winked this time, and carried you to school as the cherry blossom petals fluttered around you, your love blooming like the spring season
you were st. flora’s prince, but muku was your prince forever & always
🍁🍰 hyodo juza
juza didn’t let anyone pull anything on one of his own, especially you
the first time juza met you was when he was going out at night to buy some extra supplies for the dorms. he heard someone yelling before he snuck into the dark alleyway, catching sight of a robber that stole your bag
without warning, the robber slumped to the ground as juza knocked them out with one punch, not hesitating to let them fall as he picked up the bag and turned towards you, who was sprinting down the sidewalk panting as you gratefully smiled at him
“thank you so much, you completely saved my bag!” you said, not reacting to his serious expression. juza blanked as you took your bag back, self consciously pulling his hat lower over his eyes as he glanced at you
weren’t you scared of him? he was wearing a dark jacket with the hood over his baseball cap, with his sharp piercing yellow eyes staring at you. he knew he looked like the big bad wolf, but you just smiled at him and oh—you were saying something?
“—where were you going at this time of night?” you asked, ignoring the passed out man on the ground as you examined your bag to see if anything was missing. juza glanced at the convenience store down the street, unable to miss its bright LED lights as he tilted his head towards the store
you noticed his hands shoved in his pockets, but he must have been fidgeting the way he was avoiding your eyes. he didn’t look like he was an adult, like a rebellious teenager who ended up scared of the dark
you clapped your hands together, excited from the coincidence. “me too! do you want to go together?” you offered, walking towards the store as juza trailed behind you, unsure of how to react or respond to your lack of distrust against him
you two entered the store like you were friends. although it was the first time you had ever met, you talked to him casually like you two had known each other for years as you got two carts, giving him the other as he forced out a quiet “thank you” embarrassingly enough
walking down the aisles, you liked pointing out foods you thought he’d enjoy. he had a rogue, tough thug reputation even if it didn’t seem like he had a bad bone in his body. in fact, his grim expression the first time you saw him was gone now, instead he looked... flustered... as he just nodded at your suggestions
you hummed, considering your options as you glanced back at the tall boy. he didn’t seem to be interested in any of the bitter, dry snacks. in fact, he even grimanced at one of your recommendations but quickly masked it with his stoice features once again
it wasn’t until you walked past an ice cream freezer towards the back of the store that his eyes lit up. you grinned, knowing you had discovered an unlikely trait of your savior’s taste palette as you smiled
“do you want some ice cream, uh...” you trailed off, unaware you never got the stranger’s name. he shuffled around, looking around to see if anyone was watching you two before he sighed, nodding like it took all his energy to admit he wanted something sweet
“juza.” juza stated, not saying anymore as you nodded, opening the freezer and feeling the cold brisk air hit your face
“okay, juza! what’s your favorite flavor?” you asked, taking two out of the fridge as he responded bashfully. juza glanced around again, like he was oddly nervous for the first time as you shut the freezer with the two best ice creams in the house
“bingo! come on, i’ll pay.” you insisted, hurrying to the register to greet the tired cashier, who boredly scanned your items without another word
before you could pay, juza slapped multiple bills onto the counter, making both you and the employee jump from the sudden sound as juza just stared down at the worker
“juza... it’s—” you were about to put your own money on the table but juza just shook his head, not offering an explanation as he took the change (but tipped the cashier regardless, wow, he really was nice)
you and juza sat outside the 24/7 convenience store on the bench, placing both your grocery bags down beside you. the plastic red happy face staring back at you rustled in the light night winds as you two opened your ice creams with childish excitement
unexpectedly, juza began wolfing down the treat without warning, sparing no modesty as he indulged. you almost giggled at how cute he was acting, like his true personality that loved anything sweet didn’t match up with his gangster appearance at all
juza paused when he noticed you weren’t eating, holding the stick mid–air like he hadn’t noticed you were there. juza cleared his throat, about to make up some excuse before you ruffled his hair, smiling again
“you’re so funny, juza! let’s do this again, sometime!” you said, retracting your hand when you were aware of how red his cheeks were. juza didn’t respond, just stared as you rummaged through your bag to pull out a pen with an “aha!” as you looked at him expectantly
juza blanked. did you want something? what did you want? before juza could ask, you just took his hand and his entire body froze. he shutdown, he had no idea how to react, why wasn’t he pulling away?
you scribbled a set of numbers, writing your name below the phone number as you doodled a smiley face on his hand. you pushed his hand back, letting him regain his consciousness as juza blinked rapidly, trying to keep his composure
“text me, okay?” juza just nodded as you gathered your things to go home, saying goodnight as you were about to walk away. juza quickly got back to his senses as he took his own bags in a hurry, rushing over to you as you looked back with surprise
“did you forget—” you were about to ask before juza shook his head, trying to find the right words as he let out an exasperated sigh
“it’s dangerous at night. let me walk you home.” juza demanded, giving no room for arguments as you fondly ruffled his hair again, laughing when he had enough sense to whack your hand away lightly
you two walked to your house, and as soon as juza arrived home with the snacks, he texted you
juza: i never got your name. let’s go out again tomorrow.
you agreed, not knowing how badly he reacted to you sending “it’s a date” as he flopped onto his bed. juza hid his blush in his pillow, kicking his legs uselessly as banri just figured he had a cold or something
you two began having daily night visits to the local convenience store, becoming regulars as you two shared your favorite snacks
you were never scared to be out at night anymore since juza was intimidating enough. anywhere you went, all juza had to do was glare at them unintentionally for everyone to leave you two alone at night
(it was hard to explain to juza he had a natural resting bitch face, though he didn’t buy it)
one night, juza was walking you home again but this time, you guys were taking your favorite route. it was the one along the common park, where the only thing that illuminated the streets besides the lamps were the bright vending machines at every corner
you stopped by one, insisting on having juza taste this coffee brand by dragging him by his arm. you didn’t even have to describe it before he already pushed in a coin for you, refusing to let you pay for anything even if it hurt his wallet
you didn’t even question it at this point anymore. you punched in the number and took it from the machine, popping it open with a smile as you held it out to him
“come on, juza! just one sip, that’s all~” you begged, putting on your best high–pitched cute voice and puppy dog eyes just for him to budge. he protested, saying it never worked on him, but juza begrudgingly took the can and sipped, immediately grimancing
“why do you drink such bitter coffee?!” juza spluttered, trying not to spit it out as you laughed, taking it back. you had paid for a strawberry milk this time, passing it to him as an offering of forgiveness. juza just pretended to glare at you as he quickly took the drink, too distracted by the gross taste to question why you paid
sitting down on the bench, you and juza quietly observed the homely street, underneath the flickering street light as the odd car drove by every now and then
“you know, you’ll have to get used to what i like if we’re dating.” you joked, nudging his arm but juza whipped his head towards you with an alarmed look, like he completely missed something
“wait... are we dating?” juza asked innocently, oblivious to the fact he had been going on night dates with you for the past month
you blanked, staring at him with the most incredulous expression ever as it took all your power to not burst out into laughing right then and there
“juza...” you started, trying to keep your face serious as he just owlishly blinked at you, still holding onto his tiny carton of strawberry milk in his huge hands. it was comically gold, but you pushed through, trying to not scare him off
“when i said these were dates... what did you think i meant?” you slowly enunciated as juza’s mind flashed back to all the texts you said confirming if these were dates, and he just agreed without thinking it over
oh my god. juza had been going steady with you, and he hadn’t even realized it
“oh.” juza just said, and he wanted to smack his hand against his forehead. he had been so dense! all these times, all his gestures, of course you thought you two were dating, it’s everything a boyfriend would do!
“juza, it’s okay, we don’t—” you dejectedly started, hiding your disappointment at misreading the signs as juza shook his head, placing his drink down as he fully turned his body towards you
“no, no. let’s date, i want to—” juza insisted, holding onto your wrist before you tugged him in and kissed his strawberry lips gently, afraid he was going to run away and close himself off
when juza quickly pulled back, your heart dropped. was it too soon? did you move too fast? oh no, did juza hate you? what could you do to apologize? before you could profusely say sorry, juza grimanced again as he wiped his lips
“ugh... black coffee.” juza grumbled, muttering something about how you just had to torture him before you snickered with relief, thankful he just hated savory foods and not you
(next time he bought you something was strawberry chapstick, you use it every day)
from that moment forward, it felt like a new relationship. now that juza was aware you two were dating, he did everything in his power to make sure you didn’t left a finger
he was the type to lay his jacket down across a puddle just so you could walk across (despite just being able to walk around it), he shared half of whatever he ate with you even if it was his favorite, and he began picking you up at your house with his motorcycle (he even got a customized helmet for you and always strapped it tight before speeding off) (under the speed limit of course)
(juza even tried liking bitter food, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it no matter how many times he saw you eat it)
it was as if the night was to claim as your own, where no one could disturb the new couple as you two had all the time in the world to hang out and discover more local areas to gaze up at the stars
juza was dense, but he tried his best in every way he could to show he cared about you. that still included paying for you every chance he got, and one time, when you asked where all his money came from, his nonchalant answer almost made you turn the entire vehicle around
“fights?!” you exclaimed, shocking juza to skid to a stop in the middle of the road as he glanced at you with wide eyes. he looked surprised at your angry reaction, frowning in confusion
“yeah, people like betting and i always win, so.” juza reasoned, but it literally made no sense to you as you smacked his arm for real this time, not even feeling sorry as he winced and complained about how he regretted teaching you self defense
“juza! you hate fighting!” you were appalled, knowing your boyfriend was never interested in fighting and people only approached him because of his street cred. he was truly a gangster, but he didn’t care about it, just wanted to see you and have some sugar
“yeah, but they make good money.” juza shrugged, about to drive off again before you yanked on his helmet strap, pulling him back as you narrowed your eyes at him
“no more fights, got it? i love you, not your money.” you said but it was too late. juza shifted his head so he was looking over his shoulder with a flustered blush across his nose
“you... you love me?” juza choked out, as if he couldn’t believe it. you were mortified, unable to believe you just let the l–word out like that before he had an attempt at a smile
“i, i love you, too.” juza mumbled, pretending like his first love confession wasn’t a big deal as he didn’t give you time to respond, just driving off into the night with the load roar of his engine
you responded by wrapping your arms around his waist, leaning your head on his shoulder with a wide smile. juza didn’t need any more answers, just wanted to keep you safe as you two drove to your next date
you were definitely one of his own, even more than that, now

Aquarium ShowTime - Chapter 10 (A3! Event story)
Chapter 9 | Epilogue
🌸 🌸 🌸
Misumi: “Wow, look! So many of Engawa-senpai’s fans have gathered!” Azami: “As expected of Engawa-senpai… He’s THE penguin among penguins. They all came because they wanted to see his manly appearance.” Yuki: “What are you saying. Isn’t it obvious that they came because they wanted to see Negitoro-senpai?” Homare: “Exactly. Handsome, with a clear gaze… The cool Negitoro-san. Hah, I’m swooning.” Sakuya: “Wait a minute. I think they’re all fans of Ikura-sama, who is really kind on top of being handsome.” Muku: “Ikura-sama’s smile is just like the sun. You look wonderful today as well, Ikura-sama…!” Misumi: “…Huh? What was that, Engawa-senpai?” Azami: “Ahem, I will translate senpai’s words and convey them to you insolent people!” Azami: << Don’t get worked up over trivial matters. But the number 1 ikepen among us is of course, yours truly. >> [1] Yuki: “Pardon? This is what Negitoro-san is saying!” Homare: << You’re saying whatever you want. It’s obvious that I am the one who will be made to satisfy them. If necessary, we can make a match out of it too. >> Sakuya: << If that’s the case, then I can’t afford to stay quiet either. The one to capture everyone’s hearts will be me ☆ >> Muku: “Oh, Ikura-sama’s wink!! So cool~!!”
Audience A: Ahahaha! The penguins are so cool! Audience B: I’m going to cheer for Engawa-senpai! Audience C: For me, it’s the prince from the Ikura-sama faction! Izumi: (Having everyone be the spokespeople for the penguins’ thoughts was a great idea after all!) Misumi: << First up will be the sliding competition. Will you be able to keep up with the speed of yours truly? >> Misumi: << Listen well, you guys. Don’t take your eyes off yours truly. …Only look at me. >> Audience B: Kyaah!! Engawa-senpai! Audience A: His sliding appearance is totally cute!! Yuki: << The hurdles are my field of expertise. As it is, I can fly over this easily. >> Yuki: << Of course, even with obstacles to our love, I would fly over them with ease. >> Audience D: Negitoro-san is super cool! My heart is pounding! Muku: << Next is the seesaw, right? >> Muku: << The seesaw of your heart, it’s already slanting in my direction. …Isn’t that right? >> Audience C: Kyaah, Prince Ikura is so cool…! Izumi: (Thanks to Muku-kun making use of his knowledge of shoujo manga for Tsuzuru-kun’s script, the heart-pounding lines are right on the mark too.) Azami: << Are you captivated by yours truly? Come over here and I will iwa-don you. >> [t/n: basically kabedon but against a rock (= iwa)…] Homare: << I’m eating small fish during intervals… You like small fish as well? …What a coincidence. >> Homare: << There is a secret small fish café that I like. Maybe I should take you there next time. …Only you are special. >> Muku: << My wings are pretty? Thank you, that makes me happy. Next time, I want you to let me groom you too. >> Audience E: Ahahaha! Geez, it’s so funny and cute! They’re seriously ikepen~! Audience F: Men will fall for this too! Misumi: “It’s finally time for the last item of business, the dive. Right, senpai?” Yuki: “Please demonstrate some stylish diving, Negitoro-san!” Sakuya: “…Ikura-sama, let’s go!” Ikura: …Kuah!
Azami: “Did everyone see Engawa-senpai’s dynamic jump?” Homare: “Negitoro-san’s refined profile during his dive! Wonderful!!” Izumi: (Next is Ikura’s turn to dive…) Ikura: …… Sakuya: << …The truth is that before, diving wasn’t particularly my strong point. >> Sakuya: << But you know, I want you to see a cool side of me… I practiced because I wanted your heart to flutter. >> Sakuya: << So, watch me! >> Ikura: ──! Izumi: (Yay! Ikura’s dive was a success!!) Muku: “That was awesomely cool, Ikura-sama! Ha, the glittering splashes looked like jewels!” Staff: Ikura… good for you…! Izumi: (The staff who has been helping looks really happy too!)
Tumblr media
Yuki: “Everyone, thank you for coming today.” Misumi: “Which penguin was to your liking?” Sakuya: “Please come to see the ikepen again~!”
Kamekichi: Great work, you guys! It was a good show! Izumi: I’m glad that the collaboration project was a huge success! The guests really enjoyed it as well. Staff: It was really amusing! It was so popular that afterwards, the penguin goods sold out at the shop! Staff: Thank you so much! We look forward to working with you again! Izumi: The pleasure is ours! Misumi: Thanks, penguins~! Ikura: Kuah! Misumi: “You guys, do come again,” …he said~! Muku: Ikura-kun…! Sakuya: Yeah, we will definitely come again! Other penguins: …… Azami: Hm? Homare: Oh, one penguin walked over to Ikura. Izumi: I wonder what’s going on? He’s flapping his wings towards Ikura… Muku: Don’t tell me this is…! Misumi: This one has apparently fallen in love with Ikura~! [2] Izumi: Really!? Sakuya: Is this the effect of that show…!? Penguin charmed by Ikura: ♪~ Misumi: “I will make him happy all through his life!” …is what he’s saying~. Muku: Wow…how wonderful! Sakuya: Good for you, Ikura! Yuki: In one go, he’s living the life… To say nothing of comrades, he even got a lover. Azami: Lo-, lover!? Homare: Splendid! The poetic inspiration is surging! Homare: Lover birds, penguins eternal~, bubble popping Ikura, diving into your heart! Kamekichi: That Ikura… Just like me, he became lady killer. Izumi: Ahahaha…

translator’s notes:
[1] Engawa “uses” ore-sama, hence the yours truly...
[2] I was a little surprised when that one penguin that walked up to Ikura seemed to be male (the penguin used “ore”). I don’t know how common same-sex partnership among penguins is tbh, but I did wonder for a moment if I had maybe misgendered Ikura? But then Kamekichi called him a “womanizer”, so....

A3! Event: Starring Party ‘Look Back on Summer 3′ Translation
Last ones for Summer Troupe are Kazunari and Muku.
Tumblr media
Izumi: (Last ones from Summer Troupe are those two.)
Muku: Ah, welcome, director-san!
Kazunari: Nice timing, director-chan♪ We're just having tea together!
Muku: Kazu-kun bought some soft macaron crepes. It's popular right now.
Kazunari: It's very popular on Instablam, and tasty too. Wanna take a bite, director-chan?
Izumi: They look so cute! If you insist, then…
...No, this isn't why I’m here! That was closeーI was almost tempted to join your tea party.
I'm here to film the anniversary video.
Kazunari: Oh yeah, you're right! We're gonna put in commentary and something like that, right? That's so lit~!
Muku: If I remember correctly, we're going to roll the dice to decide on the topic and choose a scene, right?
Izumi: Yup, yup.
Okay then, let's start from the lead actor of Summer Troupe's fifth play, Kazunari-kun. Here, take the dice.
Kazunari: 'Kay! What. kind. of. topic. will I get? Here we go!
Muku: The topic is… "An episode where you failed."
Kazunari: Dang~. I was having a hard time since we had a lot of action scenes. If we're talking about failure, it'd take forever.
Hmm… But I think this scene is the one that I remember the best.
Tumblr media
Izumi: (This is from the sixth day of night showing. In this scene, Kiichi and Yoshimaru delivered a letter to Young Lordーー.)
Young Lord: "...Is this really from the princess?"
Yoshimaru: "Eh? Ah, this one? Yes~! As you can see, you can write and draw on this!"
Young Lord: "That's paper!"
Kiichi: "Paper is that wide and blue place where you can see ships embark on a journey to find treasures."
Young Lord: "That's sea!"
Yoshimaru: "Sea is the thing that's useful for catching fish."
Young Lord: "That's net!"
Kiichi: "No, no. Sea is like this, y'know? Ride the wave!"
Young Lord: "That's waves!"
Yoshimaru: "Wave helps me hear Young Lord's dignified voice very well…"
Young Lord: "That's ears!"
Kiichi: "Smile, smile!"
Young Lord: "Will you cut it out!? I asked whether this is from the princess!!"
Izumi: (The ad libs were lively and Summer Troupe-like, but…)
...Too long.
Kazunari: That's right~!
As the people who came to re-watch our show increased, the reaction was getting weak.
So that's why we played around with ad libs. But we ended up having so much fun it went too long~.
Tehepero! This kind of thing happens pretty often in Summer Troupe~.
Muku: Ahaha, yeah…
Izumi: But well, that's one of the things that make Summer Troupe's plays different from others.
Kazunari: I know ad libs are merely extra elements that aren't necessary to be put in a play… There's no meaning in putting them in if it's going to ruin the original flow of the play, but…
Exchanging ad libs with one another is fun, and the audience enjoys it too. So it just happens.
Muku: During our debut show, we were told to make it our motto to have fun first before entertaining the audience.
Kazunari: Yup, yup! That's why we can't stop throwing in ad libs…
But we need to be careful not to have too much fun all by ourselves. I think this is a challenge for us.
Everyone might be thinking the same thing, not just me.
Izumi: Yup, you have a point.
Kazunari: I feel like my acting has become a little bit more stable than before, but since I've chosen both acting and art, I have to give my all to both of them without compromise.
Izumi: (Just like Kumon-kun, Kazunari-kun also has his own worries concerning ad libs.)
(Nonetheless, Kazunari-kun is thinking ahead.)
(Kumon-kun who is working hard to catch up, and Kazunari-kun who is walking with his gaze fixed on the future in front of him…)
(But neither of them will leave anyone behind, and that is Summer Troupe's strong point.)
Kazunari: Alrighty! Shall we shoot the video message next?
On second thoughts, angle does matter! Hmm, the camera's position and background…
Izumi: It'll take forever if we cared too much about that. I think this is fine…
Kazunari: Eh, you think so~? OK then, I'll go like this. Kazunari Miyoshi's video message, start!
Tumblr media
Muku: Whoa, Kazu-kun's message is so beautiful.
Kazunari: Hehe, TYSM! Muku, it's your turn now!
Muku: Y-Yes. I'm rolling the dice now… woops!
Izumi: Oh? Muku-kun got the same topic as Kazunari-kun, "An episode where you failed."
Kazunari: Seriously!? As expected of roommates, we're so close~!
Muku: An episode where you failed…
Since the opening show, I was so nervous that I messed up my lines, and I almost fell down during that sceneーー.
I couldn't respond to the ad libs well at the time, and I almost dropped the props in the next scene after thatーー.
This and that happened back then. I'm really just a weak, withered radish that fell to pieces…
Kazunari: Mukkun? Mukkuuuun?
Izumi: Uh, uh…. Oh, yeah! Since you got the same topic, let's change it! I'll allow it just for this time!
The topic that has yet to come out within Summer Troupe is… "Unforgettable scene". Let's go with that one, shall we!?
Muku: Unforgettable scene?
If that's so… There's a scene that remains deep in my heart.
It was during the final scene of the closing show…
Tumblr media
Izumi: (After the curse has been lifted, Florence and Rose get married…)
Florence: "Still, I was really surprised to find out that Rose is the princess."
Broto: "You didn't seem to notice it at all, your highness."
"*sighs*, you're as carefree and easy-going as ever, just like a flower garden*"
Rose: "You have a point…"
Florence: "Do you mean my beauty is that of a glorious flower garden? That's obvious!"
Rose and Broto: "I've never said that."
Broto: "My, my…"
"...But you're fine just the way you are."
Izumi: (What a tender smile… The last line was Kumon-kun's ad lib.)
(Before the closing show, Kumon came to me and Tsuzuru-kun to discuss this.)
Muku: I tried my best to act as the prince that I've been dreaming of...
Hearing Broto's lines in the closing show, I felt like all my efforts had been acknowledged.
It made me so happy and emotional.
Because everyone believed in me, I could be a prince just the way I am.
I'm really glad I could confidently stand on stage as Prince Florence.
Izumi: Yeah…
Kazunari: Mukkun's Prince Florence was so cool, he could bring miracles. I love him too!
Muku: Ehehe, thanks…!
Izumi: Okay, let's shoot the video message.
Muku: Yes!
Tumblr media
Muku: Phew… thank you.
Izumi: Good job. With this, I'm done filming Summer Troupe's part.
Kazunari: Mukkun's comment was so good, I can't wait to watch the others~!
Izumi: Your personalities came out quite a bit in the videos.
Kazunari: Really!? I'm hyped!
Muku: Whoah, I wonder how the final product will be. I'm excited to see it.
Kazunari: That's a mood~. I'm fired up to edit the footage!
Izumi: ...Say, Kazunari-kun, do you need to use a video editing software to edit them?
Kazunari: You do need editing software for this, but there's various kinds of itーー.
But you can make a pretty high-quality video using free softwares, or the ones that are already installed on your PC!
Izumi: I see.
Muku: Hm? I think I heard loud noises from the corridor…
Kumon: Sorry for intruding!
Yuki: Good work.
Misumi: Kazu~, Muku~, director-san~? Are you done filming?
Kazunari: Huh? Sumi and Kumopi!
Muku: Even Tenma-kun and Yuki-kun…
Izumi: We've just finished filming. What brings you all here?
Kumon: We found some paper waste when we were cleaning our room!
Misumi: That's whyーー.
Let's hold a paper airplane contest!
Tenma: We got dragged by those two all of sudden.
Yuki: They were so noisy.
Muku: Whoa, it's been a while since we last held a paper airplane contest!
Kazunari: Sounds fun! I'm in, I'm in! Join us, director-chan!
Izumi: Eh, me too? But…
Misumi: Flying paper airplanes is fun~!
Muku: I want to fly paper airplanes with director-san too!
Izumi: Well, I'll join for a bit. I'm free, anyway.
Kumon: Yeaaay! I'll make a paper airplane that will fly far away~!
Tenma: Sorry, but I'll beat you and win this time.
Yuki: Look who's talking, when you always make paper airplanes that can hardly fly.
Tenma: Shut up!
Misumi: Tenma, I'll teach you how to make one that can fly far far away!
Kumon: Once we're done making paper airplanes, let's fly them in the courtyard!
Izumi: Yeah!
T/N:
The puns in Kiichi, Yoshimaru and Young Lord's dialogues go like this: 手紙 (Tegami/Letter) → 紙 (Kami/Paper) → 海 (Umi/Sea) → 網 (Ami/Net) → 波 (Nami/Wave) → 耳 (Mimi/Ears)
花畑 (Hanabatake) can also also be used to describe someone who has a tranquil image and whose train of thoughts is carefree.

[AO3] [WATTPAD] [QUOTEV]
Chie was warm when she awoke the next morning. What a lovely feeling! She couldn't remember how long it had been since she last felt this peaceful — as if pure sunshine itself were wrapping around her, coiled like an affectionate snake. Even though that was a very weird mental image.
Speaking of which… the sunshine itself was just barely peeking in through the windows of the room, making her close her eyes a little tighter as she snuggled harder against her pillow. All she wanted to do was sleep in and forget the frightening, insane dream she had. Yukiko falling into the TV? Monster clones crawling all over each other — and worse still, Yu and Yosuke seeing them like that?! Horrible and crazy, even if the ending of the dream was a little less unpleasant. No, she would rather just think about sunshine and her best friend and let the nightmare fade into nothingness.
"Yukiko…" she breathed with a small smile.
"Hmm?"
The response didn't startle her. Not at first. She simply was too comfortable, too happy, for the reality of the situation to poke through that fuzzy blanket of contentment. However, she did start to feel like either her pillow was a little too warm, or her dog somehow knew the word "Hmm" now. And come to that, Muku wasn't an inside dog. Why was he in her bed today?
When she moved her face just a little to snuggle closer and hopefully fall back asleep, she could suddenly tell that there was hair covering her pillow. Not fabric, and not dog fur either… actual human hair. That was weird. Her brain finally put it together: the least weird thing to be covered in human hair was a human, not a pillow or a dog. So that meant…
That meant…
Drawing backward, Chie opened her eyes to observe a sea of silky black strands. Yukiko. She didn't need to scroll through some huge list of people it could be; she knew, even without seeing anything else. This wasn't the first time they had fallen asleep together and awoken in the same bed. Just the first time since finding out a shadowy part of her heart wanted to wake up next to her every morning.
Moving her arm a little showed her that it was around Yukiko's stomach. And it felt so good there… who wouldn't love to spoon the junior innkeeper? Flawless goddess that she was. Practically everybody who went to Yasogami High shared that opinion; with the exception of Ai Ebihara, who was gorgeous but as snooty and unpleasant as they came, she was most definitely the hottest girl in school. She had even overheard a couple of "If I were gay" discussions in the locker room that hinted Yukiko would be their ideal.
But now, Chie and Yukiko were gay. For real, not just hypothetically.
"Oh shit," she breathed when she remembered that particular detail. The shadows had been telling the truth. Sure, she knew she could put up a fight, try to pretend it was all a dream or they were lying, but the moment she accepted that other Chie into her heart she relinquished all right to deny it any longer. "Yukiko… I think we're in trouble."
"Hmm?" she groaned again, squirming a little in Chie's embrace. Her hand drifted up to rest on the back of Chie's, which made her smile. What a tender touch. "Prince? What time is it?"
Now she burst into a full rosy blush like she never had before. Yukiko was calling her that in her sleep now? She had thought the shadow exaggerated that slightly, like they tended to do, but apparently it was no exaggeration. Before she could think through her response, it was out of her mouth and into the air.
"I don't know, Princess."
Yukiko's dark eyes fluttered open, staring at the wall bordering the window. Now she could see this was Yuki's room; her brain hadn't been firing on all cylinders before. Such a traditional Japanese room, complete with low tables and tatami, a bonsai on a small table in the corner, hanging calligraphy — and they were curled up in a futon that was luxurious for one person but very slightly too small for two. There was also a poster of a pop group Yukiko loved, but it was framed; probably a compromise on her mother's part.
"Chie-chan?" she breathed.
"Yeah?"
"It's you. Why… last night, what happened?"
"Nothing! Nothing happened!" That was her first instinct; cover her own ass, make sure Yukiko didn't think she was being a creep. Then she cleared her throat. "I m-mean, uh… I don't know. What do you remember?"
Her warm body shifted, and Chie felt her neck growing yet hotter. This felt too good in a way it never had before. "I remember… the castle. You saved me. I'm… oh."
"Oh?"
"I remember our shadows."
"Damn," she sighed. "I was kinda hoping you'd forget that part. So embarrassing!"
"I know! I've never… how could that other me be s-so indecent? I've never had thoughts like those before!"
Chie sighed, petting up and down her best friend's stomach. She felt the muscles twitch and shift in response. "Um… yeah, but… I have. And I think the shadows kinda, um, fed off each other? Or something, I guess. I don't know."
Finally, Yukiko turned just enough so she could look at her best friend out of the corner of her eye. "You've really thought about me that way?"
"Not… like the shadow said I did. I wasn't trying to…" She grimaced, and Yukiko's expression grew more concerned. "Never wanted to be with you… like that. It was just a thought or two, I promise. Because there's never been any guys I was really into, y'know? So after seeing that video, I… y-you're so pretty, and we're already best friends… so I had to wonder…"
"You had to wonder…?" When Chie didn't continue, she bit her lip for a moment before whispering, "If maybe you and I could be like the girls in the video?"
"Yeah! But then I was like, that's stupid, right? We're friends! And that's cool! You've been my best friend practically my whole life, and I love that. I don't wanna mess it up."
"Chie… why are we in bed together?"
Swallowing hard, she tried to scrape together two brain cells. "Well… you collapsed in the castle, and then I was trying to help carry you out… and after that… man, I really don't remember."
"If…" Yukiko rolled onto her back, and Chie felt even more self-conscious now that they could see each other. That perfect, angelic face, gazing up at her with concern and trust. She didn't deserve that. "Maybe Yu and Yosuke couldn't carry both of us all the way to both houses? So they just left you here."
"Maybe…" She sighed, looking away. "I'm sorry, Yuki-chan. I didn't mean to flake."
"Flake? What do you mean?"
"I should have been able to carry you all the way home, if I'm really your… well, y'know."
"My prince?" When Chie nodded, she let out the softest little chuckle. "You really think I don't still see you that way? You went to an entire other world for me. A-and you accepted your shadow, even after she told everyone that you… after she did those things to the other Yukiko."
"I couldn't hide from them anymore," she sighed, slumping just a little. "Not with it all out in the open, and… and it being the truth."
"No, that's not what I was trying to explain. I know the only reason you accepted that was to make sure I was safe. I could tell." Her hand drifted up to cup Chie's cheek. "My brave prince, risking her life, and then… her reputation in front of the guys. And all I did was be a victim."
Eyebrows furrowing, she leaned a little closer. "Don't say it like that. We were all victims — of whoever's behind this stupid stuff. How were you supposed to know you'd get kidnapped?!"
"But I couldn't protect myself," she insisted. "Couldn't stop them from catching me and throwing me into the TV. What kind of pathetic-"
"Stop! You have every right to just… be a peaceful, gentle girl, who likes to study, and laugh at stupid jokes, a-and… and I would die to defend that right!"
Yukiko's face suddenly grew deathly serious. "No. Please don't say things like that, Chie. I don't want to think about… well, I just don't want to think about that. Okay?"
"Okay," she acquiesced with a little nod. While Yukiko was breathing a sigh of relief, she kissed her cheek. "I'm just glad we got you back safe and sound."
"Oh," Yukiko breathed. Only then did Chie realise what she had done, but her friend was already smiling. "Y-yes. Thank you."
"S-sorry."
"No, no, it's alright! It felt very…" She trailed off, the bridge of her nose and her cheeks turning pink. "I can't believe this is real. We're… I didn't even know. How could I not know I had those feelings buried inside of me? Am I stupid?"
"Only if I am, too," she chuckled, and Yukiko grinned bashfully.
"I guess you're right. We can't pretend that both of our shadows weren't having a great time over there."
"We could," Chie hedged playfully. "Try to pretend the whole thing was just a big hallucination. But now that Tomoe is a part of me, I don't think it's gonna work very well."
"Tomoe?"
After blinking for a moment, Chie breathed, "Whoa. I just… knew that name. That's the other me; her name is Tomoe. How? She never told me…"
"Konohana Sakuya."
"Huh?"
"That's… mine's name," she explained, sounding just as confused as Chie. "They're part of us, but… also something else. I saw them change before we accepted them; do you think…?"
"I don't know," she admitted readily. "Seriously, I wish I did. But I remember Yosuke saying something about that when we were all talking about what happened when him and Yu went into the TV before. They used a word… I just can't remember what it was now."
"That's alright. We can ask them later." They shifted and felt their legs graze each other's, and Yukiko giggled a bit. "Wow, this feels very different from before."
"You bet. I'm… I don't know what to do."
"What do you want to do? We can get up now if that's-"
"NO! I mean, uhh… it's okay. We can chill for a minute."
Yukiko smiled sweetly up at her, even if her face was glowing crimson. "You don't have to do that anymore, you know. Hide your true feelings. If you do want to… be close to me, we can do that. It's a little scary since it's new, but I… don't mind. Not at all."
"Really? It's not too weird?" She moved her legs again. "I don't think, um… we're wearing very much. Under the sheets."
"Y-yeah. It's… don't worry, I'm sure it was my mother who undressed us, or one of the other women."
"It had better have been. I'll punt that Yosuke to the moon if he even took off one of my shoes!" They both giggled a little before relaxing again, even if they weren't fully relaxed. Too much excitement.
"Your legs are smooth," Yukiko commented out of nowhere. "A-against mine. Sorry."
"What are you sorry for?"
"Well… it's strange, isn't it? For us to be doing this, and… I want to tell you what I'm thinking, but I'm also ashamed of those things. It's silly; I just got done telling you everything is fine, and yet…"
One of Chie's shoulders rose and fell with a little shrug. "It's okay. Seriously, I'm… don't worry about me judging you. I'm pretty sure it's my fault we even saw our shadows doing that since I'm the perv."
"You are not a perv," she chuckled. "Unless you were lying about how often you go to watch those videos."
"I wasn't. Like, I only went on there once." Sighing, she forced herself to admit, "I did watch more than one video, though. Like, a few. But I felt so creepy afterward that I couldn't let myself go back."
"I see. Did you want to look at some together?"
Chie nearly lost her mind at that thought. Therefore, she was quick to assure her, "S-some other time! Maybe? I dunno, um…"
"O-oh, okay," Yukiko quickly agreed, nodding as she swallowed hard. "I didn't mean to upset you, or to suggest something… too unpleasant. Just trying to help."
"You are! I mean it, this is really… I'm so happy that you're not skeeved, or think I'm being a perv, or hating me for… being gross with that website. I just… got curious, and then it was super fascinating."
After debating internally for a second, Yukiko whispered, "And then, you pictured the two of us doing the same thing?" No answer. Yukiko reached up to pet along her cheek again as she added, "It's alright. I think… w-well, I don't like anyone thinking of me that way. It seems vulgar. Except, knowing you have… it doesn't make me angry like Yosuke does when he asks what my measurements are."
Chie's lip curled. "That boy is a real horndog. Not a bad guy overall, but like, he's sure got a one-track mind."
"Yeah!" she agreed with a musical laugh that made Chie melt in a way it never had before. She always loved it, sure, but now it had a deeper effect than could be explained away. "I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to get us into swimsuits as soon as the weather's warmer."
"Probably right! I mean, God, why is he like that?!" They both giggled for a few seconds, trying to relax against each other's bodies despite the electricity sparking between them. Then Chie cuddled a little closer, feeling Yukiko's arms tighten around her back. "Mmm…"
A tender mouth came to rest against the crown of her head, pushing into the hair a tiny bit — not quite a kiss. Just a tender gesture. "Chie… I don't understand a lot of this. I really don't. But I want you to know something."
"What's up?" she breathed.
"That you and I… we're friends. And not just 'I'll see you in class' friends, but 'I'll see you every day for the rest of our lives' friends. Even if we aren't… that kind, if our feelings aren't the same, that doesn't matter. I will never turn my back on this friendship."
Her heart felt like it could burst. "Y-Yuki-chan… I… for real? You and me, forever?"
"Sorry."
"No, no, I feel the same way!"
"You do?!" When Chie nodded, she embraced her even more tightly. "Oh, Chie… I've felt that way for a long time! I just wasn't sure if I should say it, or if it would be too strange. Since it sounded like…"
When she didn't finish the thought after a few seconds, she whispered, "Yeah. It sure does sound like… a love confession."
"Right. And of course, I love you. I'm just… not sure what kind of…"
"Hey, don't sweat it," she reassured her with a smile as she held onto her friend. Trying to ignore how warm she was, how good she smelled… how little they were wearing, even if it was underneath bedsheets. "We'll figure that out. Probably."
For a few minutes, they simply laid there, too afraid to continue. To misspeak and change the whole situation sooner than either of them were prepared for. Finally, Yukiko cleared her throat as she caressed up and down Chie's mostly-bare back, fingers tripping slightly over the strap of her sports bra.
"So… um… fingers can really… do that to a woman? And it doesn't hurt?"
Instantly, Chie turned back into a mess. It became a lot harder to ignore certain physical reactions when forced to think about that spectacle their shadows put on again — especially when she could feel a very warm hip pushing against the area in question.
"Y-yeah, I guess so! Not that I tried it, but I, u-um… looked like it to me."
"Wow…"
"I know, right? Crazy…"
Licking her lips, Yukiko whispered, "And you would want to try that with me?"
"NO! I uh, I mean… yeah? But we're not doing that kind of stuff, so it's fine! Really, I'm just… I feel a little light-headed, do you feel light-headed? Is it hot in here or is it just you?"
Yukiko had been laughing until the last part, which made her gasp. "Me? Hot?!"
"Yeah, you! Geez, haven't you ever looked in a mirror? Don't you hear how the boys talk about you in school?"
"W-well… I think boys just talk about girls like that all the time," she hedged, cheeks flaming red. "And of course, I know I'm not ugly, but I also don't think I'm particularly pretty. Or unique; I'm such a common girl. What about Ebihara-san? She's much prettier than me. And so are you!"
Chuckling just a little at her friend's modesty — which she knew was true and not a facade, thanks to their shadow-encounters — she kissed her cheek and whispered, "You're beautiful, ya idiot. And everybody knows Ebihara's a bitch."
"CHIE!" she cried out in shock, even though she started giggling a moment later. Chie allowed herself to relax into the embrace as her friend shook with mirth for a few seconds. "I… I can't believe you said that!"
"What? It's true! She's a huge bitch and nobody can stand her. I mean… she's probably just really insecure or whatever, but does that have to mean she takes it out on the rest of us?"
Yukiko nodded thoughtfully as they relaxed against each other. "I wonder… if she went into the TV with us… what her shadow would be like? Or my parents, or… anyone. Not that I want them to have to go through what we have, or what the reporter and Saki-san did, for sure — nobody else should die. I'm just curious what secrets are in their hearts; it might explain why Ebihara-san is so, um, unpleasant."
"Who knows?" she sighed, relaxing a little more as they both fell silent. At least they had the topic of the egomaniacal Ai to distract them for a few seconds.
What should they do now? Of course, they could just keep lying there, but given that she already felt the embers of need trying to catch the rest of her on fire, that was a bad plan if she didn't want to end up repeating what the shadows had done. Which neither of them was quite ready for. Could they actually just get up and start acting like everything was fine? No, that ship had sailed; actually watching part of their own selves acting out secret fantasies would not be so easy to forget as a slip of a tongue, or a lingering glance.
"Yuki-chan?"
"Yes?"
"Um… I'm sorry for how I used to think about you." There, perfect. This was something she needed to do, anyway, and it would help keep them from thinking too hard about other matters. "For thinking of you as dependent on me, o-or whatever. I know we kind of already went over that, but I wanted to formally apologi-"
"Shhh," she shushed her, kissing her cheek. "Chie, don't. I know… I know I put you on a pedestal, and you enjoyed the pedestal. We both could have been… smarter? Or more wise? Or maybe just more honest about our feelings with each other. A-anyway, I, um… I don't like you any less, and I don't think you're a bad person at all. So don't worry about those things."
Great. Yukiko was so kind and understanding that now they had nothing to distract them from the deeper worries about their sexuality. And since they had already admitted their feelings, more or less…
"D-does this mean… we're… dating?"
"Does it?" Yukiko asked, eyebrows shooting upward. "Wow…"
Grimacing, she hissed, "Don't just accept it like that! We're both girls, aren't we?"
"Well, yes. But I've read somewhere that it's becoming more and more commonly accepted in other parts of the world. There are countries in Africa where it's still punishable by death, but everywhere else…"
"Death!" she squeaked, clutching at her own throat.
"Stop," she snorted with a slight smile. "It's terrible, yes, but I don't plan on moving to Africa, so you and I should be safe."
Chie forced herself to breathe. Then she cleared her throat and followed up with, "Still, um… we're in Japan. It's weird here, right? They're going to look at us funny."
"Maybe…" She frowned a little, then she shrugged. "But how will they know we're not just friends?"
"Well, that- oh. Oh, I guess you're right, huh? Unless we make out in the middle of class, anyway."
"You want to make out in the middle of class?" Chie's brain short-circuited for a minute before Yukiko giggled. "Sorry, that was mean. I made you picture it, I think."
"N-not 'mean'! Nope! And what do you mean? I didn't picture anything!" When her friend only continued to giggle at her expense, belly shaking, Chie rolled her eyes and smiled. "You're such a goof. Do you know that? Like, everybody else is fooled by your cute 'proper lady' kimono-wearing facade, but not me. I see who you really are."
Her smile was coy as she gazed upward, the sun coming through the window in just the right way to sparkle in one of her eyes. "And who am I?"
What Chie had been going to say was something along the lines of "a nerd"; she actually wasn't entirely sure. But seeing her like that prompted a quiet, "Perfect."
"What?" Yukiko's smile disappeared, only to reappear smaller and alongside a rosy blush. "O-oh."
"What?"
"I didn't think… you were going to say something like…" Throat working to swallow, she looked away. "Wow. You really are a prince."
"A-ah, come on," she tried to laugh it off. "Just because I said that one thing?"
"No. It's the way you said it; the way you were looking at me when you did. There was this dreamy sincerity in your eyes, and… your voice was so serious. I got goosebumps." When Chie laughed again, she pushed down the sheet and raised up an arm. "No really! Look, I have them!"
However, Chie became distracted by something else other than the tiny scores of bumps along Yukiko's arm. There was no bra. She had still been expecting actual clothes, really, but even beyond those having gone missing, her best friend was topless. And unless she missed her guess, those peaks were erect — probably for the same reason her arm had blossomed into gooseflesh.
Because of Chie.
"Oh!" Yukiko suddenly gasped when she realised, her other arm sliding up to lay across her chest and conceal everything. "Oh no, I- I'm sorry, I w-wasn't… sometimes I can be such a ditz!"
"Yeah…" Once hearing she said that, she hurried to assure her, "Wait, hang on, you're n-not a ditz. I don't think that! I meant, um… it's okay! Yeah."
Both of them were red enough in the face that they probably could have cooked omelettes on their cheeks. Chie took a quick glance down to see if she was clothed, and she was — in her sports bra. At least it was something. Yukiko was probably either wearing no bra before, or hers was nicer and more elaborate, so the women who worked at the inn had removed it so she could rest comfortably after her ordeal. It made sense, even if it resulted in this awkward situation.
"...want to…"
"What?"
Yukiko was quick to shake her head. "Nothing."
"No, really," Chie insisted. "I missed what you said."
"I asked if you wanted… to… t-touch them?"
Licking her lips, she glanced around the room. "Okay, I uh… I know we said we'd do that whole 'honesty' thing from now on. But are you sure you wanna be asking me questions like that?"
"I am," she whispered. "Even if the answers might scare me a little, I could never be really scared. Not with you next to me."
Heart bursting with love, Chie smiled down at her and leaned in for a gentle kiss. Neither of them were really ready, but she suddenly knew that there was no point in depriving each other of the chance to experience this connection — one that had existed all along. They just lied to themselves about what kind of connection it was.
And Yukiko's lips were soft, sweet. Perfect like the rest of her. Chie found she never wanted to stop. Her hand drifted up to grip Yukiko's upper arm, and both of Yuki's hands rested lightly on her collarbone as the kiss deepened — just like a princess! This was crazy!
"Oh wow," Yuki breathed once they parted for air.
"Shit," Chie rasped in a voice husky with need. Then she cleared her throat to try again. "I m-mean… that was… I've never… shit."
Her friend giggled warmly, one hand drifting up to cup her cheek. "My eloquent prince."
"Sh-shut up." When she only giggled more, Chie bumped their noses together with a bashful smile. "But yeah, that was amazing. And I, uh, I wouldn't mind doing some more."
"Doing some more kissing? Is that a proper way to phrase it?"
"I don't even care, man. Like, I'm trying not to scream and roll around on the floor!" They both giggled this time, and Chie buried her face in her hand. "You're my princess. How did I not see… was I just really dumb?"
"I feel pretty dumb, too, so it's okay." Pillowy lips grazed her cheek and sent her heart skipping over a beat. "But um… we should probably take a break. Before one of us faints."
"That might be a good idea." When Yukiko started to stand up, she covered her eyes. "AH!"
"Oh! Do you… not want to see my body? I'm sorry…"
As fervently as she could, she shook her head. "That's not it! I'm just… like, if I'm kind of the 'boy' now, you aren't supposed to be showing off the goods, right? Like, u-um… maybe that's stupid. Sorry! I don't know what the hell I'm saying anymore!"
"It's okay," Yukiko laughed lightly. "But you're not a boy; you're just… my prince. Prince Chie. And if you want your princess to be more modest, I can be."
"That wasn't what I meant, either; it's not that you're doing something bad! You're great! REALLY great! B-but I shouldn't be a, um, a pervert-prince."
"Ohhh… okay, I think I understand. You want my permission to look? Instead of just, um, accidentally sneaking a peek?"
"Yes. Or like, um… well, yeah, pretty much. But I don't want you to give it right now just because I'm in the room."
The quietest little giggle almost made her look anyway. "You've already seen my body."
"That wasn't you. Probably my imagination's like, idea of what you would look like naked? But you'd have to tell me if it was, uh… accurate."
"How am I supposed to do that? I have no idea what I look like down there!"
"Like I would?! And it's your body!"
"Chie!" she gasped, a little embarrassed now. "Wh-why would I look at myself like that? I'd need a mirror, and… a-and I, u-um…"
Finally dropping her hands, she saw Yukiko had donned a kimono — not the somewhat ornate tsukesage she had been wearing when dragged into the Midnight Channel, which there would be no way she could get all that on in the limited time since getting up, but a simple pink-and-white chequed yukata. Chie felt her tiny flicker of lust turning to contentment and affection.
"You never got curious?" she asked as she got up. Now it was Yukiko's turn to blush and look away, and Chie made straight for the similar red-and-white yukata that had been hanging next to Yukiko's. She wanted them to both be comfortable instead of anxious. "I did."
"You did?!"
"Sure. I mean, I didn't do anything super crazy, just… when I learned to use a tampon…" Then she laughed awkwardly. "Maybe this is nasty to talk about, anyway."
"No, no, it's alright. I never…" Clearing her throat, she rephrased, "I use pads."
"Ohhhh. Yeah okay, I guess you wouldn't have." Then she tied the robe around the waist and approached her friend. "Well, I'm sure it's… nice?"
Flushed and squirming, she chanced a smile up at Chie. "I h-hope so. For you. Whenever we, u-um… not that we need to."
"Right! For sure! Nobody's holding a gun to our heads, telling us we have to bone!" At the last word, Yukiko flinched, so she grimaced and added, "Too far? I'm sorry, I know you're not real thrilled about people using-"
"It's alright. We're um… this is a very stressful and new situation. And I should probably get over things like that if I'm ever going to be a good wife for you."
Now it was Chie's turn to flush brick red, brain misfiring and leaving her stuttering and gaping at her. Wife. Was that where this was heading? Marriage?! But two women couldn't get married! Maybe they could live together, sure, but wouldn't that basically make them lifelong roommates? Who had sex? And kissed, and took care of each other, and…
"I guess you will be," she breathed aloud as the realisation hit her. "And I'll be a good wife for you, too! Like, so good, I swear!"
Yukiko reached forward to take up Chie's hands, holding them loosely as they gazed into each other's eyes. "Of course you will. I might be scared, and have no idea what I'm doing, but it's not about who you are. I know you're the best person in my life." They shared a small kiss — that still sent tingles along Chie's spine, despite how brief and chaste it was — before she added, "But aren't you the husband?"
"Hey, I draw the line at 'prince'," she laughed back. "You want a husband, you better ask Yu."
"No, thank you," she giggled. "He's very sweet but he isn't my Prince."
"Yosuke?"
"EW! That's so intolerable — he would be the worst!"
Chie cackled as they headed for the bedroom door to finally start their day, hand in hand. "Right?! He'd be better off with some girl like Ebihara!"
"Well, let's not go too far… I'm not sure who doesn't deserve whom in that scenario."

Kiryu Youtube video synopses
From November 2018 - December 2018 These are synopses, not direct translations, despite the fact I began to forget that during the top one, which I wrote last.
【本人解説】己龍最新アルバム「転生輪廻」マル秘トーク! Kiryu talks about their new album Tenshou Rinne!
Synopsis: The five members gather together and give their thoughts about their new album.
Tumblr media
Tsurushi Mitsuki: This is an older song I wrote, back in 2017. I made Mahiro sing in a very low register. Mahiro: I like the distortion effect in doubling my voice. Junji: I was surprised by this song, it has a nice balance between quiet and movement. Muku Mitsuki: This is the song where I began using a seven-string guitar. Hiyorin: The balance is very difficult to achieve, but once you get it, it's incredible. Junji: Between quiet and movement... THIS SONG IS DEFINITELY MOVEMENT. Oborodzukiyo Hiyorin: This kind of sounds like the kind of song we would have written in our early days. Takemasa: I think this song is more popular with our male fans since it's kind of R-rated. Mitsuki: I wanted to make a song that was dark and disturbing. Mahiro: I like this song. Junji: Between sun and shadow, this song is shadow. Ibitsu Mitsuki: This is maybe the prettiest song on the album, and a bonus track. It's a song about pain. Hiyori: The bass solo is very significant. Takemasa: After having written some hundred songs together, we've yet to have made a song like this. I'm glad we put it out now. Junji: Between strength and gentleness, this song is gentle. Hansuu Mitsuki: This is a song Takemasa wrote for us. It has a nice balance and it's really fun to play. Hiyori: It's fast and busy. Takemasa: I wrote it mostly on my iPhone. Mahiro: The speed and rhythm of it really makes it a unique song. Junji: This isn't a normal rhythmic pattern for Takemasa. It's all... (sings the pattern). That's it. That's all it is for me. [Then Junji compares it to some manga thing I'm not familiar with]. Tenshou Rinne Mitsuki: This is the kind of song that people who like Kiryu will enjoy. It's a very Kiryu song. We don't use normal phrases for us, though. Hiyori: It's really nice to hear you singing for us, Mitsuki. Mahiro: That was my idea. I thought it would add a nice kind of unique sparkle to it. Junji: This is a fast song. Watashi ha Kairai, Sarugutsuwa no Ningyou Mitsuki: This is a rather slow song for us. Hiyori: I felt like this song was a sort of turning point for us, that this is the song that shows we're no longer kids. Like we grew beards for this song. Mitsuki: I don't understand what on earth you're talking about. Hiyorin: Don't you feel like you finally grew pubic hair? Mitsuki: What? Like in junior high school, weirdo. How old are you, do you still not have hair there? Mahiro: I really like the balance and sound of this song. Basara Mitsuki: This song is called "Basara," AKA Take-punk. Takemasa: WHAT? WHY?? Mitsuki: Every time you submitted a demo of this song, the feeling of it was very uncertain. But the underlying sound was always kind of punk. Hiyorin: Thank you for all the deep feelings held in this song! Mahiro: I like this. Junji: I hate the rhythm. It's the same thing over and over again. Nopperabou Mitsuki: This song was born out of my want to write a song that had this sort of bass rhythm. For you, Hiyorin, it's all bass slaps. Hiyorin: Oh yeah! This is the most difficult song to play on this album! The rhythm is hard, and when I was recording, you kept asking for more and more. Mitsuki: And the lyrics, I really felt like I was able to write something significant and deep... Hiyorin: It is a sufficiently Micchan song. Junji: When you sent it to me, I couldn't even begin to imagine what the chorus would be like. Takemasa: We had to do so much reamping and such, this was also the most expensive song to make. Mahiro: There were just so many levels to making it. But in the end, it was fun. Mitsuki: How about it, Hiyorin? Can you go more? Hiyorin: ..I'm going to have to say for now, I'd like to stay at this level. Gekkabijin Mitsuki: This is the most Japanese-sounding track on the album. It's like Kiryu-pop. Takemasa: I had absolutely no idea where to insert this song in the album. Mitsuki: Maybe we should have made it a bonus track? Mahiro: Sometimes I forget we have songs like this, too. Junji: It's Mitsu-punk. Basara is Take-punk and Gekkabijin is Mitsu-punk. Harushigure Hiyorin: This song really conveys the feeling of now. This is really Takemasa's song. Kairai is Mitsuki's song of growth, and Harushigure is -- Takemasa: HAIR? HAIR? HAIR? Hiyorin: Your beard. Mitsuki: This is the world's beard. Mahiro: From the start, I knew this would be a good song. Junji: Takemasa wrote the music and Mitsuki wrote the lyrics, so it kind of feels like a thing you both peed on together. (Everyone laughs). No, it's a good song. It's good. I just hate it. I only play TAN-TAN-TA OVER AND OVER. Except at the end, I play DO-DO-DO. Then tan-tan-ta. But it sounds nice and sparkly. Jou no Ka Mitsuki: This is THE single Junji: The song that charmed the world. Mitsuki: We used this song in an anime. The concept came from trying to tackle something we couldn't do before. I wanted to do that. Everyone: Thank you. Hiyorin: I didn't cry, but I felt as though I might. It's a moving song. Junji: But then, seeing your name appear on the opening credits as the writer was kind of a blow. This song... between light and dark, this song is light. Mahiro: I really like this song. Kuroyami ni Madou Esoragoto Mitsuki: This song is "Kuroyami ni Madou Esoragoto," AKA the Take-ballad. Junji: This sounds like something he wrote when he was in school. This is back when it was just us in a Take-band. Prince Take hasn't changed a bit. Mitsuki: This song is just so heavy. Takemasa: I thought about all the things I wanted to say, the messages I wanted to get across. But I wasn't the one singing it, so I knew if Mahiro couldn't feel it, this song wouldn't resonate. Mahiro: It was really difficult to sing. Every line felt like a wound. Hiyorin: Usually songs feel like a journey. You hit this place, then return. Then you hit this place and return. This song starts with an intro that I expect to come back to, but you never come back to it.
