Just watching the war vods you could tell that the L’Manberg side was going for the roleplay element in SMP Earth while Dream’s side had the Minecraft Manhunt mentality. Dream and Sapnap kinda understood after the war with Tommy over the discs, but I don’t think the rest of their friends did.

Yesterday I got peer-pressured by @kangarooken to unprivate all 60 or so of my ao3 bookmarks. If I was gonna spend an entire afternoon unprivating everything by hand, I figured I might as well start a collection of all the mcyt fics I’ve read and enjoyed so that other people can find some good fics to read as well.

So!

The Great MCYT Fic Collection

Around 70 or so fics that have been curated by me! It has 4 subcollections:

Recollection: Fics from the very early days of the fandom. As someone who’s been lurking on Dream’s ao3 tag since before it had 3 pages of works, I figured I’d share my old favorites. I suggest you look through these especially if you’re a newer fan and have read all the most recent works.

Underrated MCYT Fics: Some of my favorite fics and authors that deserve more attention.

DNF: Did Not Finish: Either slow to update or forever left unfinished fics that are absolutely worth the read.

Some notes and disclaimers about this collection:

Since making this, my bookmark count has jumped to 120, so I have about 40 more bookmarks to organize.

There is a gap between when I started keeping bookmarks and where I have gone back through the tags to make bookmarks. This means I am unfortunately missing a lot of the inbetween works.

This collection is mainly DNF because I am basic like that.

There are no nsfw recs, because I do not read nsfw. I am thinking of getting some of my friends in to add that to the collection.

It is suggested that you sort each collection by “Date Updated” rather than “Date Bookmarked” because my bookmarks are wack

If this collection gets popular enough, I’m considering opening it up so people can submit more works to be added to it! But for now, it’s just my personal collection :)

The Mr. Beast video of the duel kinda fell flat for me and I couldn’t feel the hype because it felt like they didn’t really understand where Dream and Techno were coming from and just brushed over moments that would have been important otherwise. Both Techno and Dream’s perspectives made up for it however, and now that Dream’s side has finally come out, here’s a couple of things I wanted to say about it.

Dream’s choice in music is FIRE. Even when he was too busy fighting to commentate the music spoke for him and made the video so engaging and dramatic.

There were so many endearing moments in his pov, especially his pep talks where it almost sounds like he’s talking to his little ingame character and hyping them up. There was also a bit where he was parkouring over the rose plants in the waiting room and I saw that he’d flipped up a trapdoor so he could make all of the jumps in a row.

That and after seeing Techno get distracted with stripping logs, he steps forward not to attack him, but strip a couple of logs himself before bouncing back and letting Techno get it out of his system before getting back on with the duel.

It’s just everything about the duel could have gone so wrong but in the end the true personalities of the creators shone through and that’s what made it quality content. Not the money, not the hype, not the fame. Just two people being genuine.

Medieval AU Dream and George based off of that one fic I wrote a while ago. The quote is one of my favorite lines that unfortunately didn’t make it into the final draft.

This took me WAY too long, but I am so freaking proud of myself cause I don’t draw people usually.

Yeah I know this was days ago but I was busy writing my 14k word dnf fanfic because I have no self control. Anyway, Tommy’s vod gave me an unsettling image of a tall man folded into a box.

IRL friend sent me a tiktok of Tubbo spinning around in a boat while singing and suddenly I felt very, very exposed. I keep forgetting how mainstream this is now, myct isn’t a secret I can keep in my little corner of the internet anymore.

Fluttershy x Discord vibes, except George is more of a Flutterbitch and Dream is his simp. Whenever Dream causes problems everyone has to get George to make him stop. If he’s asleep then too bad, it’d be impossible to wake him up without evoking Dream’s wrath.

Dream acts like a giant noodle cat. George wouldn’t mind if he wasn’t so freaking heavy. He’s gonna give him back problems if ya know what I mean ;)

I like how the Dream Team’s gotten so good at beating Minecraft that their challenge videos are just them messing around with the plugin for like 20 minutes and then actually trying to beat the game for 10.

Also I don’t know if anyone else caught it, but I really liked when George made a “that’s a flint” reference. Gave me real throwbacks to old Dream content.

Are they gonna do a flip-flop where Techno and Sapnap start daily uploads while Dream and George just disappear monthly?

I stopped watching Hermitcraft because it was too much roleplay and started watching the Dream Team cause I wanted to get better at Minecraft.

Anyway that’s how I ended up getting invested in a Hamilton roleplay.
