Ummm my only exposure to the house of leaves is shitposts on tumblr.com and alivemanor on ao3 by famous writer hallowlock, so I have no idea how to answer this, but here's my thoughts based on everything I am pretty sure I know.

Katagawa jr can't survive The House, he's already experiencing some Sins Of The Father type bullshit and he's clearly doing bad at that. I think he'd settle in and just try to work with the situation as much as possible while slowly going insane, and when that inevitably fails, he'll go crazy and just give into it.

Mephisto would survive The House because it is Crazy and that's not even a competition. Doesn't even try to process the metaphors or anything it is simply surviving. The House gets pissed off and tries to get them to go back in but Mephisto is so dense in that regard they genuinely are just going "Thog Don't Care" at it all (Mephisto is an actively depressed + psychosis having creature so this would be like, a bad thursday)

Archer is the same answer as Katagawa because canonically he's already struggling with immense guilt and internalized homophobia so. No. His ass is never getting out of The House

[ 1- Mephisto is someone whose need for the things it desires is not only all-consuming, but also destructive in a predatory fashion. It is someone who stops at nothing to get what it wants, no matter the cost or the hurt, because it believes the ruthlessness of it will save him. It's how jt survives and it is the only thing it knows <3

2- Ties into the first one– Mephisto was born of death and is basically a whole different person to whom they used to be before, and as such they don't *know* who they are anymore. They think they do, and they pursue those small bursts of knowing endlessly until it's over, but it's never quite as satisfying as they think it would be. They don't know what they want and they hate it so bad.

3- Despite all his rage and bared teeth and neverending quest to terrify everyone he comes across... Mephisto's heart is never 100% in it. Yes, he's still a scary weird old haggard machine-thing, but he's also terribly soft for someone who wants to terrorize people. If you are struggling and generally down on your luck, this may not be who you turn to help first, but he WILL take you in no questions asked. ]

[ These connect directly to the first ones as parallels to how Mephisto will often play up how bad they are in order to avoid or scare people away. They would never accept their own kindness if they were aware of it, so it hides behind the idea everything it does is out of spite, for survival, for their own sake. Even if it isn't. ]

okay I have so many thoughts on the cherry magic pilot, many of which might sound Stupid and Wrong

how can you talk about all things a person is expected to be and do and finish it off with this question

WHEN YOU TURN THE CHARACTER NOTORIOUS FOR WANTING NO RELATIONSHIP WHATSOEVER INTO A PART OF A COUPLE

when I saw the prior introduction of these two I thought they might have dropped this very stupid change but ig not, I suppose they'll give her some other type of struggle with societal expectations

not too hyped for jan and sing as a couple, I like them both so much but I have no reason to believe their chemistry would be smth special

when I saw mark i got a bit worried because ive only seen him as prince in sky in your heart but I got shocked how much he seems to resemble yutaro

i wasn't sure bout junior but they do seem to resemble the pair a lot when together and I hope their acting brings out more of the characters' charm (because I did feel a bit iffy about them in the japanese version ngl)

I also think he'll portray his character a bit differently, he seems more down-to-earth and confident so he'll probably tone down the obsessive loser vibe of the original; hopefully mark has improved

the bland backgrounds and too much voiceover kinda bored me but it's only a pilot, I'm sure it'll work better in the full episodes

as for our stars, I think new seems a bit ridiculous as achi, maybe because he's a big guy trying to make himself look small? I don't mind that the height difference that eiji and keita have isn't replicated, but new is also very broad shouldered and overall doesn't seem to give off the aura of a guy with bad self esteem issues with his acting; the way he looked almost happy in the elevator reveal scene

and some other scenes made me think new def has a different take on the character. that his version would be either 1) "no confidence in theory, way more in practice" in which case the script would be to blame or 2) developments true to the character but not acted out the right way. there's also the option that everyone makes achi a more confident guy on purpose - he's written like that and so new presents him that way. that option is a bit unlikely considering a line in the pilot related to self esteem but it already seems like the source material might've been a bit misunderstood

I think it's cause of the actors' faces just being the way they are that tay gives off "puppy wagging tail aggressively" more than keita did - tay's big eyes and smile just do it by default

it feels like his interpretation of kurosawa's character would be more innocent and playful, kind of as if he'd confess earlier than kurosawa did, I get more of a careless vibe though I'm sure they'll stick to the og motivations and doubts the character has; he doesn't contain himself the way kurosawa does:

i remain optimistic! the show is based on a manga that is drenched in multiple aspects of japanese culture, societal commentary is based on japanese society for the most part. having the story take place in thailand with thai characters will obviously have the main conflicts presented through a thai lens. you can also see the comedic editing typical for thai shows and it differs from the japanese comedic style you can see in the og adaptation. im excited to see whether trying to stick to the og yet changing other aspects will work or not. there are already things that I look forward to and things im nervous about so i hope it's anything but boring lol

But they’re adorable and have my heart. And when I started the AI, they were just supposed to be buddies and then it spiraled ok. So it’s not my fault.

Hi guys, meet my newest precocious little guy, Teddy !

... Well, Theodorus technically, but his friends call him Teddy :]

Teddy (Or Theodorus Dorian, if he's in big trouble) is the heir to the Tediore empire, and current face 'CEO' through technicality. Despite only being 8 years old (and a quarter), he shows a lot of promise as leader of the corporation, and is having his training done by both his father and the board of directors so he can be suitable enough for the position. 8 is close enough to 18 statistically speaking, so it's not too early to bestow immense amounts of pressure on the boy is it ? He's fine !

- Teddy's actual parents (Marilyn and 'Jimmy' Dorian) are divorced and very barely in his day to day life, especially if it doesn't include his training as CEO. Because of this, the most constant people caring for him is his older sister Aubrey, his two robot bodyguards Ted-01 and Ted-02, and any robot maids around his house. He does miss his parents from time to time and he hasn't quite figured out that they're separated yet, but it's no big deal.

- Attends business meetings, corporate parties and other such events mostly unsupervised aside from his bodyguards. People only take him seriously because of the two very large robots with inbuilt guns that follow him at all times, but most don't actually like to talk to him given he's a toddler.

- Very good at keeping tidy. Surprisingly not a messy kid, keeps all his documents and other such things in order very easily. It's a little impressive up until he actually has to read anything (His diction isn't great)

- Hasn't met a whole lot of other kids in his life ; Most of the people he's met are either much older or much younger, so he's a little isolated in that regard. Not to worry though, he gets along great with his colleagues ! (Or so he thinks anyway. Given he hasn't learnt social cues, he doesn't yet know that most people kind of hate him for being born unfathomably powerful and rich...)

- Loves monster trucks, has a very vast collection that he spends most of his allowances expending <3

Oiuuhhg very good question actually... I think Archer's for too repressed to actually get any jewelry in fear it makes him effeminate, the most he usually wears is a watch or a ring or (pushing it, because he tends to prefer ties) maybe a cool necklace, but ☝️ I know for a fact that as a kid he wanted to get his ears pierced so he could use pretty earrings :] his favorite would be the kind with little gems and stuff... would absolutely love to wear diamonds :] It would be way easier if Archer wasn't. Like. Transphobic pretty much only to herself

Baltazar fixes their hair and does the 👈👈 hands to themself most of the time. When they don't, they speedwalk away like they just saw the devil (they did, its them).

Luis doesn't care most often. Usually he doesn't even perceive himself. Bros mirror is empty in his mind.

William will take his time to groom himself and make sure he's still thotting it up as the worlds sluttiest computer scientist, making sure his clothes are tidy and matching.

Althea just. Kinda stares. A lot. And then smiles before going away again.

Eris is the kind of person to make sure her lipstick and eyeshadow are still on peak with every mirror she finds. Hell, it can just be a glassy surface, and she'll still check herself out. Loves looking good and is unapologetic for it.

Now you'd think Lilith wouldn't really care as much for her appearance given she's the opposite of Eris, but you'd be wrong. She needs to be the most handsomest butchiest butch in the room at all times or she will die. Many such cases

Maria has not looked in a mirror in 4 years since she transitioned without exclaiming "DAMN whos that beautiful babe". And she is right so she won't stop either <3

Dance Lesson

it would make sense if a child of a magic using parent and a non magic using parent would have a varying ability of using magic . like one child could be a full blown mage , and one child could be a warrior that still has magic abilities just weaker than a full mage's magic abilities . does this make sense . i think about this a lot
