Personal Interest Artist

The artist that has influenced my Personal Interest in photos was Mark Steinmetz. His gallery mainly contains black and white photos, however, the theme of these photos is what has caught my interest. In some of his pictures, he has this theme of nature colliding with human-made items or being among each other. He does this by playing with the angles in which the photos are shot, deciding on the focus point, and using the reflection technique in some cases.

 The pictures that have been my influence for this assignment are two pictures from his Greater Atlanta and From My Home collection.  From the Greater Atlanta series, he took photos of Atlanta during 1994 -2009 with many settings, but it was the nature photos that caught my interest. In this first picture, which is one of his few colored ones, he has a bottom view of a tree with a nice flower but has an electric/ telephone line just hiding behind the tree. In the second photo, we have this wood-like area surrounding the frame of this photo with a midpoint view of a street road with cars and a dog, I hope. In the From My Home series, 2013 - 2015, the photos are mainly photos around his home, which is close to the wood. The first image contains two deer walking about, but you can also see a ghostly car in the top corner that would leave questions on why it’s there. In the second photo, we have two birds sitting on what looks like the roof with a background of the wood area.
