Writing questions! I'm going to rattle off a bunch of general questions, but please feel free to pick and choose whichever ones you'd prefer to elaborate on!

When writing, how would you describe your process of writing a reply? What comes first, what does the brain find its most intrigue in when responding to a partner, when is it time to slot in the icons? Are there some attributes of the character you actively aim to display specifically through the way your text is written? Are there any facets you find it important to emphasize while writing, and how does that impact the way you write?

If you're the type to write multiple muses, does your writing style change between characters? Would you say you have a particular style of writing at all? Or are you just letting your typing take you wherever it may?

Starters, asks, plotted threads: what's your preferred method of beginning interactions? Fluff, angst, comedy: what do you find most fun? Is there a type of writing that you don't get to do very often and would like to?

No okay but uh. Before I start writing I guess the muse kinda gives off Vibes? Sometimes I'm visualizing actions, sometimes dialogue, sometimes a whole ass movie scene if I'm really into a thread. But I'll kinda write around that. Usually I can keep the main thing in my head until I actually write it down, but sometimes I forget it and that's infuriating. Of course, the smart thing to do would be to write bullet points or write the line of dialogue/action first and then polish it. But I'm not smart, so

Icons are last. The whole thing gets written before any formatting happens, outside of like, italics, since I only use those for thoughts/emphasis like you would see in a book anyway

I really shoot for, like, being able to hear a line in the character's voice. If I can't hear it in their voice in my head, it's not right. But also mannerisms and subtle details to convey emotions. Body language and stuff. Basically whatever gets spat out onto the reply is me getting into the muse's head. I am consciously going "show don't tell" when I'm writing lengthier / more serious stuff

I'd say I try to vary my writing style with the character? The changes are primarily based on 1) the muse's internal monologue/general disposition, and 2) the vibe of the source material. Like, the Mother series is lighthearted ( haha mostly ) and is known for its sense of humor, so my narration for Lucas is a little goofier than, say, for Shinji, who's got a lot more introspection and heavy thoughts and less slang. But some stuff stays consistent across characters too, of course. Like my crippling addiction to commas

My muses don't get to get angy a lot??? I will write a lot of things and I love fluff and feel good stuff as much as the next guy, and like, I get my fair share of angst too, but like, man, especially for Lucas and my generally gentler / more outwardly sunny muses? Let them YELL. That shit's fun when I'm in the mood for it

I think that when it comes to writing, my muse's feelings tend to come forefront. Then comes description, body language, and speech is usually the last thing I write unless I have something super dramatic in mind ( in which it comes first ). Then comes the icons somewhere between the last or last steps. If I ever get stumped, I start with speech and/or icons first and see where it takes me. The process is... very improvised JKGNFDJGNFDGND

My writing tends to be very personalised based on who I'm writing. For example, how I write the bulk of Mephiles' responses may differ to how I write Cream's (@/heartopened). For Mephiles, his text is typically very reflective, observant, as well as arrogant, mocking, and ominous ( as per himself ) -- for Cream, she’s thoughtful, curious and pondering as well as innocent, considerate and typically peaceful. I tend to use caps to emphasise Mephiles’ anger / violent thoughts, whereas I seldom use such things for my more passive muses who rarely get angry at all. Also, since Mephiles’ is a WALKING greek tragedy, god and all, I sprinkle a lot of those tropes in. It's a very stylised third person which is why none of my portrayals wind up being the same and they're a blast to write tbh. I rarely write ic thoughts just because that bulk says so much about them anyway. My writing style isn't super concrete; I usually just follow the emotional flow my muse is riding.

Asks are usually more engaging for me just because I am. So terrible at writing starters on the spot. I've gotten better at it since joining the RPC, but it could still use a little elbow grease. Asks are just preferred because they throw a prompt at me and narrow down my indecision, which is a huge issue I deal with in like, everything. Plotting helps massively though, as well as helps for muse. And honestly, it's no secret i adore angst ( I specialise in that bc fun fact! I major'd in English Literature, Tragedy, in college ). However, I really like the other genres too. There's no point to Angst if you don't have the fluff to build it up & you need comedy to ease the tension between. I love all three genres; it's just my muses tend to gravitate toward the angst direction. That's them though. I have muses like @/pplankton where I primarily focus on witty one-liners and shenanigans just to make the dash smile. And honestly, I guess... more horror and fluff? I think if it's one of my writing goals for this year, I definitely wanna write more fluff.

Student B: Well I'm going anyway!

Professor M. Robotnik: Ah, I see you've chosen death. That's your choice but you should know that the guardian will throw you off the second you step foot. And I *will* be letting him know to expect trespassers. Any other questions?

Amy prided herself on being the practical head of the group. After all, why shouldn’t she? The hammer-heart had fought hard to change the number one fan girl image of herself. But alas, obsessions were hard to kill. And every so often she would lash out at those who threatened her spot at the top of the list.

... Unfortunately, the victim this time just happened to be someone Amy cared for a lot and hadn’t been able to stop thinking of since. Whoops. From hedgehog-stealer to war crazy dictator, her fantasies have certainly been putting Amy to work. Luckily for Amy, reality would be just a floating island away.

As suggested, Amy returned to the island with carefully selected gift basket in tow. Strawberry scented candles with a box of tea to match, cookies, a stuffed toy, a handmade apology card and a small bouquet of flowers. Decorated just as sweet with a bright red bow. While uncertain if this would be able to stave off a cross-dimensional royal rumble, it was assured with previous experience this would bring a fiery spirit down to a civilized mood. The basket was placed a respectable distance from the emerald as Amy approached her co-pilot; continuously grateful for the reminder that her head could get away from her at times.

“ How’re things looking, champ? ” She tapped a finger to her cheek, with a strange pitch in her voice. If only getting to the Sol Dimension was as easy as sending a postcard! But Blaze would probably send back those letters with a big ol’ RETURN TO SENDER stamp. The hedgehog shook her head with a forced chuckle and properly faced Knuckles. “ Please say good. I’m not sure how long I can resist that gift basket. ”

She rested her gentle hand on the emerald, turning towards the echidna with great anticipation.

amy is used as a speed character but she could easily stand in as a power type character. that’s just fact.

   “i tend to be full of surprises!” he couldn’t help but chuckle at the statement, not many people had hopes of his survival due to his nature, but there’s a lot more to big than meets the eye. once he feels safe enough, he decides to take a seat on the floor; a well deserved break from running in his mind.

Knuckles wasn't typically one to play savior, but... well, maybe it was the heroic influence rubbing off on him, but seeing someone toppled to the ground with blood flaking their mouth was enough to turn Knuckles toward a kinder side. By the fallen swordsman would Knuckles sit, violet eyes turning against his form once a slight stir was spotted. "Hey, buddy, you good? You were clockin' in at a pretty hot temperature. Set us somewhere shady, but I didn't wanna touch'ya too much. How we feelin'?"

Jolting awake from his sudden slumber, the Drifter pushed himself up from the grass with one arm, the sunlight bleeding color back into his vision. The familiar beeping of his HUD pricked his ears, but over it he could hear a voice, and was startled to find the source a bright red echidna next to him. That was certainly a new sight.

Blinking his dark eyes slowly, he moved to sit with his back to the nearby tree. One hand reached up to peel away grass clumps stuck to the side of his cheek with what he could only assume to be congealed blood. Rare as it were to find someone who actually stayed by him when he’d collapsed, their reasoning was always the same: concern. The other’s tone of voice betrayed this same reasoning. His current appearance likely only aggravated that - his shoulders still shook occasionally from stifled coughs and the bags under his eyes were dark and heavy. Not to mention his HUD zipping around him like a worried bee.

Flicking grass blades from his gloves, he gave the echidna a thumbs-up, desperately trying to give the other a look that said All good here!. He had no intention of holding this stranger up, even if he was far from fine.
