Finally done with Omicrons. Doing this on and off alongside Dawntrail made me compared it to Living Memory and that one Solution 9 scene.

Which interestingly I was doing earlier Omicron alongside a leveling Culinarian and Studium as a Post-EW thing.

Dawntrail be the Culinarian Expansion? Shokugeki no FFXIV? This game made me Go eat tacos. Hard shell tacos. not too big....

In Living Memory, food for holographic(?) replicants of memories of dead people is tasteless to the living. It merely serve as a "something done in life" and food taste how it should taste to memories the replicants have.

While in the Last Dregs, the taste and sensation of food while being eaten by Hylnyan is replicated by the Omicrons for the dead spirits to try and remember their past.

Although this guy might be doing this more for new experiences instead of memories.

And in Solution 9 all your food is in a handy dandy space pack /MRE / caloriemate. What presentation to please the eye and aroma to tease and been pack in a handy dandy pack for convenience sake without any personal touches. Sharlayan and Koana have another forewarning coming if all they want is fast handy dandy MREs.

A lifetime of carrot derived dishes and tasteless bread Foruchenault. This might have been in what calming Meteion has done to avoid a lifetime of space carrot food and archon loaf

Food is something we don't think about sometimes. In my own case I visited a town I once lived in for the sake of eating shredded chicken noodles in tomato sauce that I used to have as a kid. The stall is no longer around now but there has been close replications elsewhere, sauce dependent. but yeah It was for the sake of nostalgia.

I do have nostalgia food in terms of snacks and meals. But there's nothing I can do when my local shops no longer import Tronky and I can't be bothered to ship in some. Went and settle for Nutella replacement instead.

Comfort food. Hence stuff like Ice Cream and Popcorn showed up in Living Memory. Is an amusement park after all. And players probably eaten ice cream or pop corn at some point in time.

Do Cornservant quest line. all hail the Corn for knowing food that is easy on the stomach and comfort food. And food associated with memories. All this talk of food and memories make Solution 9 and Living Memory sound like a nightmare under calm waters.

Solution 9 and leaving a legacy behind

There is this quest. That unless you're prepared for the memory extraction and wants to do something about it.

At least it answered some questions for me.

Questline starts with Aunty knows best and more info pops up in What she left behind.

You can leave a will of sorts to deal with your family when you pass away.

Apparently the person do inherit what was left behind (would it depend on how the system deem it an okay thing or not? threat or not threat to the system?)

Memory wise the inheritor does have very vague memories of being around that person and that's it

so letters were mostly written due to nature of the place left for the inheritor (gotta wonder how many do this since this was a displaced Yyasunalni person and not a native Alexandrian)

And the there is this one, how much of those stories remain (maybe all, maybe some, maybe its a case of not remembering who told it)

Edit - Post DT quest features one of the ushers bringing memotos to those who inherited them. Varying degree

Matoya removed her happy memories of with Y'shtola after they had a very bad fight and stored it off site.

In her case her memories are retrievable and I don't know how much it affect the tone of their relationship (constant snippy and semi-antagonistic?) thereafter. Maybe she would or maybe she won't retrieve it before she pass on. who knows.

It just had me thinking that Matoya did the same thing, but she retains access to it to come back and deal with it in time if she wish to. Maybe she's waiting for insight, mindset or something. who knows. Maybe she doesn't want to deal with it and left it as is.

Whether or not they have any new decently happy memories made thereafter is subjective to crankiness levels.

There may or may not be other Sharlayans who known them and be like - "There goes Matoya and her Miq'tten. Just the other day such and such a fine thing happen and etc and etc and gosh that was a funny learning experience for them." Other people probably remember something of them and still would when Matoya pass away.

Headcannon territory ahead

Even in DRK the process took Post EW and 20-30 lvls to feel like things sunk in for Hylnyan where her guilt about Haurchefant was concern.

And then I may finally end up unlocking Pictomancer as a response to BRD-DRK synching up and surviving Living Memory. Draw stuff in honour of those who were lost. An in-lore way for Hylnyan to process things and get a bit of therapy.

The process of dealing with lost is dependent of time one takes. At least they know who is gone and there might be other people who know them to talk to.

In Amaurot's case Hylnyan is working with Claudien and the Studium's Faculty of Anthropology and some help from The Watcher and Unukalhai and very interestingly and carefully with Hegemony and some of the Elpis folks.

They are basing it on Erich's life since he's in an interesting position as Lahabrea's son and Pandamonium warden to see things from a certain angle. and talk about the three Unsundered and the society there probably and leaving out who Azem and Erich are in the here and now.

Emet wants Hylnyan to remember them. He never said how And he should know that when she should pass, who else is to remember if no one notes down the legacy for others to access.

And then there's Ultima Thule of which doing the later part of it into Dawntrail was a heck of an experience when the Omicron society contrast to Living Memory kicks in.

I am still not sure how dead Ultima Thule is. Or how different Ultima Thule is from Living Memory I'll get back to digesting this dynamis vs holgraqphic memory projection thing (more reasons why I don't let Hylnyan log out in both places. Technically dead worlds / spirit world thing - don't go where her friends on the Source and the First can't follow)

What made Solution 9 and Living Memory seem horrible was the lack of access to the memories (How restricted is access to Living Memeory over time and how are people to even remember why its even there) and forceful erasure that left holes in not just one's lives but the people who interreacted with that person.

So many intriguing questions and to see where post patch goes.

When Tabby(she fantasia back from Tuxedo), Calico bobtail (Krile is an honorary cat) and Earthy Brown? / Ginger (lion actually but yeah) started to run around together. I knew was gonna enjoy Dawntrail for it being the more cat people concentrated expac and it was cattier than ShB in MSQ. Thanks Bakool Ja Ja.

By the time we got to Living Memory and I caught one of the performances IRL at GBTB. Dawntrail was sort of Cats the musical as far as I was concern. Because of that one song based on memories and how Solution 9 works and Living Memory(Thick nostalgia golden filter over downtown business district) felt like Emet's project.

And considering how much of a drama queen Solus-Emet was. He was Grizabella singing that iconic song in Tempest - Amaurot.... Barbra Streisand's edition has the lyrics I heard.

Up, up, up to the Heaviside Layer.

Nostalgia was a strong theme. Emet would probably commission such a musical considering how cats might remind him of Azem!Helen.

Come on man. We even had Skimblshanks the railroad cat. And we built a freaking train tank!

Memories, The is expac is about memories~~~ Self, Family and Community~ How it affects one and all. How are we to remember those who once lived When all memories are now gone?~~~~~~ -------------------------

Sphene twisted Emet's words to a scary wonky AI movie level. I didn't think much of it when the Yok Huy were carving / painting their stories into stone. For that seems like IRL cultures with gravestones, tablets and pyramids.

As long as they are remembered, they will never die

But Solution Nine twisted those words in a Dementia (?)/ Amnesia /Alzheimer(?)kind of way. That felt more like a purge (if there's no way for a living to access that person's memories again).

Hauchefant, Papalymo, Zenos, Hythlodaeus, Venat, Moenbryda. Would you be willing to erase the existence of your fave NPC with no known way to recall when they pass from their scene? Or the way to recall is restricted.

Congrats Sphene, you turn Hylnyan Catty vacation into a cyberpunk- wonky AI, horror action movie. Please let Hylnyan know which Ascian is responsible for this mess.

On this part Constancy mention the Living used to visit Living Memory. Has memory purge started at this point? - If no, I take it that Living Memory was for physical location vibes at first - If yes. Knowing a person has been sent to the Cloud and memory for those who wear the regulator have been purge. The living would feel no need to visit the place to find out about this person that once was, if they already started thinking that its for the greateer good and something else is keeping that person's memory - If for non-regulator wearing people (early days). Would they be able to "visit the dead" so to speak (Would say yes, because Constancy and various dead spirits interreact with player). And as time pass, there are less non-Regulator wearing people to request visits? - Is that why and when Living Memory become restricted access? when those who know passed on. And those that remain considered it to be the system of things.

Whoever wrote Dawntrail has been playing with Emet's words. Both normal take and nightmare fuel take. Good job sir/mdm. giving a culture class first and than a nightmare fuel version later. May Yoshi-P give you and your team a bonus.

Thanks for roller coaster ride over the story, the moment Hylnyan step into Levindome. So many red flags. LM is giving G'raha issues as well, him being merge with Exarch's memories. While Alisaie might be seeing Sin Eaters and Meol.

Especially so if it turns out to be Emet's nostalgia project gone wrong. Considering that he might had noted that Elidibus' memories was sort of fading / unreliable. Yeah drawing attention to Elidibus' memories and the way Preservation suck up every mote of memory leaving holes. Hylnyan and Gudako would probably be able to call a truce and work with each other on this place. So many plot points~~~~~~ I want to know more...

Please give the ones(your wol too) who have been through ShB a hug and take note of them. PTSD abound. G'raha and Alisaie are not reacting well to this place, the process that powers this place is bringing back ShB trauma. Neither is Hlynyan, the whole removal of memories scares her(see the Fordola echo scene and probably what teaching Meteion to deal with pain and lost means). Forgetting people like Haurchefant or even Yotsuyu. Or Exarch somehow. Oh yeah it reminds her of Elidibus' dementia during his Amaurontine Guilt trip

Kinda glad Thancred isn't on the main team. I doubt he takes well to losing memories of loved ones and endangering other shards.

- the whole memory and nostalgia theme feels like Emet's handiwork after what he did in the Tempest-Amaurot (which diorama is more recent? And what if Tempest-Amaurot happened after Solution 9 malfunctioned into a space-time lock?)

- Emet obviously knows something and was he expecting Hylnyan to clean it up?

- What are the odds that the Allagan empire was a project to get to unlock Levindome or Levindome tech part 2?

- For that matter, was Emet able to access Levindome after it got locked up?

- Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic, GITS and maybe Appleseed references aside. Paradise is the downtown business district… This feels like Emet remembering the glorious past of bureaucratic constancy of Amaurot. an then an NPC mention that the living used to use the area.

Because Dawntrail is amusing to me in that Hylnyan, Wuk Lamat and Sphene are all green eyed ladies.

Sphene is an Emet creation, she's a lighter hair and light jade green eyes version of Azem!Helen (if not the Persephone who was gone before he met Azem!Helen). Who juat happen to have a passing resemblance / personality (may or may not be a shard) and that was enough for Emet to trial run soul plug and play(whatever it was that he was doing to Zenos). The purge of an individual existence from the memories of others was an accidental side effect that couldn’t be fix by the time the rejoining happen.

Either he left the memories (failed project) as is or he can’t retrieve them

Tempest was easier without wonky AI but had a mouthy Hyth shade instead

I lost my train of thoughts and left Hylnyan to check on G'raha.
