“Under Pressure”

This is @merionettes’ dorovain from her fic “Rubicon.” Cannot shut my brain up about this fic, not that I want to.

Drawn with graphite on acid free drawing paper. Obviously I could not stop myself from starting Dorothea’s hair, apparently, but I like this version a lot too ♡

Overall, the piece took A Lot Of Hours because I am an agonizingly slow artist. The love was definitely there throughout, though. I’m obsessed with these two.

What was your favorite piece of writing of yours this year? What was your favorite piece of writing of someone else's (published or fanfic) this year?

My stuff:

I've been pointing to Modern Loneliness a lot in year-end stuff, and I am proud of it. It's a multi-chapter Sylorenz mystery neighbor romance that I really liked writing.

But also want to shout out a soft and gentle light, part two of a claurenz space au I keep toying with and enjoying very much. Space thief Claude, dancer android Lorenz, this one was very plotless smut but I love the world and will return.

The Fate and the Furor, part of the larger The Forsaken and the Forsworn by the amazing aliatori - it's a fantastic world of pirates and deities and complex, emotionally rich characters. I love it.

Psycho Marionette

Name: Psycho Marionette

Age: Unknown, Reploid design. Sometime early in 21xx.

Height: 6 feet tall.

Eyes: Yellow

Hair: Fake doll like flat hair, black

Occupation: Formerly scientist, quantum theory physicist, prediction through variables. Currently Maverick scientist

Skills, Gear, Capability: Levitation through magnetic displacement within her self. Rapid processing power and prediction of potential enemy movements and decisions based off past encounters or gathered data. Rapid repair work as well as dissection of Reploid anatomy. Coding and data collection. Infection capability. Extending wires that float behind her, can be moved freely as if limbs them selves. Stabbing and grabbing ability with wires. Can puppet humans with said wires, stabbing into flesh. Remote control manipulation and control over other Reploids if she can hack into their electronic brains. Can hack into comm links.

History: Psycho Marionette was a simple design, that was meant to be adaptable to almost any environment. Scientists required an absolute super computer, and got that exact thing in the form of a Reploid. The design she was meant for, was to predict future weather patterns, actions of criminals or main groups, military function, or anything in the cosmos. Anything that the scientists could potentially study. And they took the next step into Quantum physics. Perhaps that was their great mistake. 

The more Marionette learned and adapted, the more cruel the scientists became. Wanting to remove emotion and worry from the reploid, trying to get her as computerized as possible. The reason for this, was because the more Psycho Marionette analyzed, the more fearful she became. Needing comfort, always asking why would someone do certain things, or wondering if she could use her ability to help maverick hunters. 

Marionette did not start out as terrible as she was. But was turned into it. 

Not long after certain modifications were made to her, the issues stopped. Marionette did as intended. Getting upgraded for stronger readings, faster computation. Various other needs.

Until a backfiring machine shocked her. It flicked that switch in her mind. And the anger, twisted madness, took over. Marionette slaughtered the scientists, downloaded all their data into her personal mainframe. Shortly after these events, she fell in with Sigma and the Maverick group. 

Marionette is a scientist in her own right now, fascinated with learning more and more of the different Reploids and even humans. She has been known to torment organic creatures to learn more of how they operate and study just how truly alike Reploids and Humans might be. She will fight Hunters, but is no fool. She will try and get others to do her fighting, or stay out of melee range as much as possible. As durable as she is, Marionette was never equipped with her own weaponry other than her wires and computational ability.

With her manipulation and understanding of ever shifting codes and moments of chance, Merionette can get control over robotic bodies and minds if she has the chance. Someone unaware of her ability will make it quite easy to fuck with them. Taking over a body is easier than the whole mind. Given the chance, she will take her time to over power and turn them into her personal puppets. But should her focus be broken enough, they can snap out of it.

FINALLY

The ice skating dream of many fans is finally coming true in Canada. Skate Canada has announced that it's changing their ice dance and pairs policy to allow any two skaters to compete together as a pair, regardless of gender.

Of course, this only applies to people competing in Canada. International competitions have yet to catch up with the times. But I do hope that this means we'll begin to see some interesting pairings, and new life injected into the sport!
