Did some sketchy drawings of a couple OCs! For reasons that may become apparent later. The first is Jeremiah and the second is Deryn. There may be one more later if I can figure out her design.

Yes I WILL take this opportunity to ramble about OCs thank you. In fact I rambled so much Tumblr started deleting my tags so here's the list instead:

Cauã is blind, probably from birth

Deryn was born missing his left arm from the shoulder

Jem is pretty minor but he has a bad ankle that acts up when he strains it too much and probably some chronically achy scars

Going way back here but Damyon had a badly broken leg that healed crooked and now he uses a cool-but-probably-impractical spear-crutch thing because I was like 13 when I came up with him 😆

Trish was in a car accident and is in a wheelchair for most of the timeline I think about; she eventually recovers but still uses a cane

There's Virious I guess? He gets his right arm cut off below the elbow during the story in true Star Wars fashion

Belectal has a clubfoot and occasionally needs a cane and a service pony

Celethdim has facial scarring and definitely PTSD of some kind

Both Ehtiverien and Logrenhir are blind in one eye, and Logrenhir has additional mobility issues from scarring

Heledhil loses her right foot above the ankle

Nierdil has autism with texture/light sensitivity and was written that way from the beginning...

...while with Tixendo I never explicitly intended it but he's definitely leaning autistic or adjacent as well. He's also probably almost entirely nonverbal (though he is a Maia so it's complicated)

disability pride month tell me about your disabled ocs. yes I will count that weird scifi/fantasy illness you made up. yes I will count your character who isn't disabled but is still an analogy for disabled experience. GO

To finish up 1990, here are the rest of the Metalmagic Yoyodyne Shigaru Troopers. Primed black 34 years ago and then finished up this past week. Metalmagic made a lot of really nicely detailed miniatures, and there was a rule book for the Space Lords game, but it was only in German. Metalmagic also had other lines of historical and fantasy miniatures, and I have a few of those that I'll take pictures of and post here for archival purposes.

This is the assembly line in process where I move the Miniatures from color to color as they go through the different layers.

I got y’all! This one is not in fact Merry - it’s Corbin :)

Merry fits most of the criteria, to be fair (most of them do). He can (eventually) do magic, although not at the current point in the story. The character he worked with several years before they became friends is actually Corbin - they worked in proximity on the Wraith several years before Merry hired Corbin on the Sea Star. Merry does in fact get into a workplace romance (with Malcolm), but to be honest he leans a lot more towards kind than professional in most circumstances. He’s also not very attractive by siren standards - he dresses nicely, but is pretty mediocre-looking.

Glad to see that Malcolm not being attractive to sirens has stuck in the collective consciousness - although tbf his kindness is contingent on you not having pissed him off and he doesn’t have a history with another character he later befriended. He can do magic and also does a workplace romance though.

Floren was my wildcard because I haven’t talked about him much, I’m glad someone guessed him. He can do magic (he’s a siren) and is pretty good-looking by siren standards. He doesn’t meet the other three though (he’s kind of cold), although he develops a very close relationship with his quartermaster.

Corbin, of course, hits all of them. He can do magic - he’s a weak metalmage and has occasional prophetic dreams about romance. He worked with Merry on the Wraith (or at least near Merry), and he ends up getting into a relationship with his coworker Tatum. He’s a nice man, but very professional when on the clock. He is also considered ludicrously attractive by siren standards and gets hit on pretty frequently every time he goes to a siren village.

And my dear Amelia. She can do magic (she’s a helmsmage) and arguably had a workplace romance (does being a vampire blood slave count as a workplace?) but she doesn’t check any of the other three, unless maybe you count her time getting to know Tamina on the Drowning Siren (which I wouldn’t).

Anyway, thank you all for playing! I had a lot of fun :)
