Donald Trump’s decision to launch airstrikes against Iran has ignited a political firestorm in Capitol Hill as lawmakers spar over whether the U.S. president—who did not first seek congressional approval—acted illegally.
Iran on Monday retaliated against the U.S. strikes by launching a wave of ballistic missiles at a U.S. military base in Qatar, deepening concerns of an intensifying regional conflict that could come to fully embroil the United States. The recent escalations could inject new momentum into proposed resolutions in the House and Senate aimed at reining in Trump’s authority to unilaterally order military action in Iran.
Under the U.S. Constitution, only Congress has the power to declare war. Even though the president is named the “commander in chief” of the U.S. military, the 1973 War Powers Resolution only allows the president to order military attacks in three cases: (1) a declaration of war, (2) after receiving “specific statutory authorization” from Congress, or (3) a “national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.”
In every possible instance, the president should “consult with Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or into situation where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances,” according to the resolution—although many presidents have historically neglected to do so.
In this case, the Trump administration did not give Congress advance warning of its attack on Iran over the weekend, sparking sharp and immediate outcry from Democratic lawmakers—who roundly condemned the action as illegal and unconstitutional—as well as some Republicans.
Trump officials insist they did not break any rules, and some Republicans have leapt to the White House’s defense, including House Speaker Mike Johnson. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth acknowledged in a press conference on Sunday that Congress was only notified “after the planes were safely out.” But the Trump administration “complied with the notification requirements of the War Powers Act,” he said.
Democratic lawmakers and some Republicans have balked at the decision, with Sen. Bernie Sanders condemning the move as “grossly unconstitutional.” “No president can take preemptive military action against another country without authorization of Congress, and what Trump has done in Iran is illegal,” Sen. Chris Murphy said in a statement.
Even before Trump ordered the airstrikes this weekend, top Democrats were already sounding the alarm that the Trump administration was not involving Congress in its planning. Five Democratic senators—Chuck Schumer, Jack Reed, Mark Warner, Patty Murray, and Chris Coons—issued a joint statement last week criticizing the Trump administration for a “lack of preparation, strategy, and clearly defined objectives” and calling for “clear, detailed plan outlining the goals, risks, cost, and timeline for any proposed mission.”
“Congress is an equal partner in preserving and defending U.S. national security around the world, and Congress has not provided authorization for military action against Iran,” the senators said. “We will not rubberstamp military intervention that puts the United States at risk.”
As those concerns grew last week, lawmakers introduced companion legislation in the House and Senate that invokes the 1973 law and is designed to curb Trump’s authority to order military action in Iran without first directly involving Congress.
In the House, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna jointly introduced a War Powers Resolution aimed at preventing the Trump administration from conducting “unauthorized hostilities” in Iran. The resolution is co-sponsored by more than 10 other Democratic lawmakers.
“The Constitution does not permit the executive branch to unilaterally commit an act of war against a sovereign nation that hasn’t attacked the United States,” Massie said in a statement. “Congress has the sole power to declare war against Iran.”
The Trump administration’s weekend airstrikes could give new urgency to that House resolution, as well as another resolution that Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine introduced in the Senate last week. Kaine’s resolution would require a debate and vote before any U.S. military action against Iran, and the text could be voted on as early as this week.
“This resolution will ensure that if we decide to place our nation’s men and women in uniform into harm’s way, we will have a debate and vote on it in Congress,” Kaine said in a statement.
Yet for all of their efforts, it remains unclear whether either resolution will garner enough support to pass, especially as Republican lawmakers appear to be largely unwilling to cross Trump. Trump has publicly attacked Massie, one of his most outspoken Republican critics, and his team is now reportedly working to unseat the Kentucky lawmaker—delivering a sharp warning to any potential Republican critics.

Based on: Secret by Peach PRC
Same time, same place.
Nancy had Robin pinned, the graffiti most likely rubbing off onto Robin’s shirt from behind. Did she ever stop to breathe? To think?
“Nance…mmm…the bell,” Robin gasped. “You’ll…be late…” That usually seemed to snap her out of the spell.
“One more,” Nancy pleaded before giving her another desperate kiss. Robin’s head was spinning.
“‘Kay bye!”
And then she was gone. Robin was left to catch her breath and sneak back out of the school the way she had come in. By the time she was in uniform at the Family Video, she was presentable again.
Steve was blabbing about his latest date, Heather or Amy or someone. Robin was supposed to be listening. Supposed to be. But all she could think about was the question she wanted to ask Nancy: When are we going to stop hiding?
Steve supported her already, he’d be happy for them. What was Nancy so afraid of? Her family? Fuck them, honestly. At least her parents. Mike and Holly seemed alright, though she didn’t know them well. Surely they curated their friends well enough that acceptance wasn’t an issue. Robin herself was considering being more open to everyone. Especially Dustin, who seemed to think she and Steve were an item. Silly kid.
“Helloooo? Robin?” Steve waved his hand in front of her face. Robin blinked.
“I never see you this quiet,” he said suspiciously. “What’s going on?”
“Other than you giving me a massive headache?” Robin quipped. “Nothing of interest to you, dingus.”
Steve rolled his eyes and the conversation resumed, two way this time. He didn’t suspect a thing. And that was part of the problem, maybe.
Later…
Robin locked up the store, saying her usual goodbyes to Steve. And like a mirage, Nancy was suddenly there. Perfect. She had to talk to her. She couldn’t let her gorgeous lips distract her. She—
They were in Nancy’s car this time. Robin’s hands were in Nancy’s hair and they were dangerously close to the next stage. But Nancy never let it get that far. She felt hot all over, but she didn’t mind. She wanted more. She felt like she was medically dependent on her touch now, and she couldn’t think about anything else while she was with her like this. But this time, she forced herself to think more coherently and pulled away for air.
“Robin…” Nancy mumbled, her voice coming halfway out like a whine. Perhaps she was addicted too.
“Robin, what’s wrong?” Nancy said when she didn’t get a response, sitting up.
“How long is it gonna be like this?”
“What do you mean?”
“You and me, hiding in your car and bathroom stalls. I wanna tell people, Nance.”
“Ro, I…” Nancy looked uncomfortable. “I don’t know if I’m ready. Please just give me more time. Okay?”
“Tell me what I can do to help you feel ready,” Robin whispered. “It’s been two months and I can’t take this anymore.”
“Are you dumping me?”
“I…don’t know.”
“Okay, okay.” Nancy mumbled, wringing her hands. “Friday?”
“Friday,” Robin confirmed. “We invite everyone to dinner. Okay? It’s gonna be okay. I promise. Your parents…they don’t have to know. But our friends. Please, Nancy. That’s all I ask.”
“Okay,” Nancy sighed. And she seemed relieved, but still nervous.
“The makeout sesh can still be our secret though. I know you can’t get enough of this.”
Nancy burst into laughter.
“Shut up!”
Friday, 6:30. Everyone got invited: Will, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Max, Eleven, Jonathan, Eddie, Steve, and Chrissy. It was a big crowd, they needed three tables. Robin plopped herself down next to Nancy, who had picked the head of the table. She was proud of her, really. This wasn’t easy. She knew that. It’s why Robin promised to do the talking, if Nancy couldn’t. After all, it was her special talent.
“So what’s this all about?” Mike asked after everyone had ordered their drinks.
“Well…erm…” Nancy was fumbling already. Robin felt the urge to swoop in and rescue her, but she decided to see how she did on her own for a moment.
“Is something wrong?” Will asked.
“No, but-”
“Are you pregnant?” Dustin blurted.
“What? NO.”
Holy shit it was up to Robin, wasn’t it?
“Guys! Calm down and let us talk!” Robin cut in. Oh whoops.
“Us??” Steve said in confusion.
“Nancy and I are dating and have been for nine weeks two days and six hours!” Robin continued.
“You counted?” Nancy’s cheeks flushed a brilliant red.
“Well I…”
Nancy kissed her, in front of everyone. The world didn’t end, everyone celebrated. There was an immediate chaos amongst the kids. Apparently there had been a running bet behind their backs.
Steve won, of course.
But all Robin cared about was they weren’t a secret anymore.

In the spring of 1985, Paul Hardcastle’s "19" arrived as a sonic revelation, a track that dared to fuse the pulsing energy of electronic dance music with the somber weight of history.
youtube
This song, born from the ashes of the Vietnam War’s memory, stands as a testament to music’s power to both move bodies and stir souls. Its quality—technical, artistic, and cultural—demands an reckoning, one that honors its craft and its unflinching gaze into the human cost of conflict.
The song’s technical prowess lies in its bold innovation. Hardcastle, a visionary in the nascent world of electronic music, wielded sampling as a scalpel, carving truth from the raw audio of the ABC documentary Vietnam Requiem. The stuttering effect on “nineteen” and “destruction” slices through the soundscape, a jarring yet mesmerizing technique that marked a leap forward for 1980s production. Synthesizers hum with a crystalline edge, their basslines and percussion driving a rhythm that feels both relentless and precise. The trumpet soars briefly, a fleeting cry amid the mechanical pulse, while the M60 machine gun burst grounds the track in visceral reality. Peter Thomas’s narration, a voice etched with gravitas from his Forensic Files legacy, anchors the song, lending it an almost cinematic authority. This meticulous production ensures every element—beat, sample, voice—serves the dual purpose of dance and reflection.
Artistically, "19" achieves a rare alchemy. It marries genres—new wave, synthpop, early hip-hop—into a cohesive whole that feels neither forced nor fleeting. The track’s infectious beat fills dancefloors, inspiring breakdancers and robotic moves, yet its lyrics, drawn from documentary truths, pierce the heart. The average age of Vietnam soldiers, stated as 19 (though closer to 22 in reality), becomes a haunting refrain, amplified by lines like “almost 800,000 men are still fighting the Vietnam War.” The scream, raw and anguished, lingers long after the song fades. This juxtaposition—upbeat rhythm against tragic narrative—creates a profound tension, inviting listeners to dance on the edge of sorrow. The song’s repetitive structure, far from monotonous, reinforces its message with hypnotic insistence, ensuring the weight of its story cannot be ignored.
Culturally, "19" transcends its era. A chart titan despite some radio stations shying away from its controversial edge. Its music video, woven with real combat footage, aired heavily on MTV and VH1. This rawness is its strength. The song reopened wounds of the Vietnam War, a decade after its end, forcing a reckoning with the mistreatment of veterans, the scourge of PTSD, and the futility of war. Its message resonates still, drawing parallels to Afghanistan, Ukraine, and beyond.
As a pioneer of sampling and electronic music, "19" paved the way for techno and house, its influence echoing in the work of later artists. A blueprint for blending technology with human stories. The song’s uniqueness lies in its paradox: a dance track that mourns, a pop hit that accuses. It filled clubs with energy while whispering of sacrifice, making revelry feel almost macabre. This duality—celebration shadowed by loss—lends it a timeless potency.
Its pristine production has aged gracefully, its synths and beats still vibrant, while its anti-war plea remains urgent. The song’s ability to evoke goosebumps, to spark conversations across generations, speaks to its enduring craft. "19" stands as more than a song—it is a mirror held to history, a call to honor those who bore war’s scars, and a reminder that music can be both a refuge and a reckoning.
Paul Hardcastle crafted a work that pulses with life yet mourns the lost, a track that demands to be heard, felt, and remembered. Its brilliance lies in this balance, a beacon of what art can achieve when it dares to speak truth through sound.

Uncovering 🌎 global slavery: Batman got involved 🦇🗳️ in the pursuit of REAL 👺 evil.
Bringing HEINOUS criminal activities to your attention is part of a commitment that I made with God, years ago.
“I have worked closely with AG Bondi and [FBI Director] Kash Patel, and it’s taken a little bit because we had to redact the names of all the victims and make certain there’s no identifying information on these individuals and protect them,” Blackburn said, noting this is “phase one” of the release.
“What I am yet to get is the court file, the video footage from the house in Palm Beach, and also the records, IRS records, on Jeffrey Epstein. Now the reason THIS is so important is because this will help us break apart what became a global human and sex trafficking ring,” she said.
“We know that it’s about $150 billion a year business, and this is modern day slavery, Mike, and as the top Republican on the Subcommittee on Human Rights [in the] Senate Judiciary Committee, I started working on this a couple of years ago, and the FBI blocked me,” she said, noting that Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) has also blocked her from having access to the records.
“I am determined that we’re going to stop this human trafficking and this disadvantaging, this selling of women and children into the human trafficking and the sex trafficking trades,” she continued.
When asked why six years have gone by with virtually no real information released, Blackburn said it is because Durbin as well as former FBI Director Christopher Wray stood in the way and blocked her request for this information every time.
“They don’t want to make public the names of individuals that are on those flight logs or who were coming and going from that residence in Palm Beach,” she explained.
“I don’t know if there will be names that people get really fired up about, I think people are curious about it. For me, it is figuring out this web, this global web that was built, that built this trafficking, modern day, trafficking network globally and moving people around the globe,” Blackburn said of the advantages of getting the client list and flight logs.
“So this is what we want to find out. And for me, THOSE are the components that are vitally important,” she said.

“Happy Birthday.” ETN Rosanna Pansino Birthday Angst.
Hello, everyone! (Or whoever's reading this at the moment), the story is about what the title is. This prompt is by amugoffandoms. Thank you again for letting me use one of your prompts. I swear I'll think if my own now I promise. ^^"But anyways, enjoy!
He always dreaded this day would come. He tried to pretend that it had already passed now. He dreaded today more than any other. Ro's birthday. He stared at photos of them both for hours in his recording closet, even though he wasn't recording anything. God he wished she was here. So much. He would do anything to see her again. Just one time. He decided to make her a cake. Nothing too major, since he didn't really know how to bake, really. It was only because of her. He only remembered one recipe by heart, which was the chocolate Jurassic Park they made together. Matt slightly glanced at Rosanna's cookbook in his dark closet. It was dark, but he knew exactly where it was. He put it in here to try and forget about it, but obviously he couldn't. He sighed deeply and stood up, leaving the closet with a slam of a door.
He had to adjust his eyes for a moment from the setting sun, shielding his eyes a bit from it. After a few seconds he went to his kitchen and got all of the ingredients for the cake. Luckily he had all of them. From things they normally would have to stuff lying around, and from food theories and things like that. Stephanie walked up to her husband with a bittersweet smile, before pulling him into a hug. She didn't say anything to him. She just wanted to make sure he knew that she was there for him. Matt on the other hand was not surprised by the hug, he was sort of expecting it. He embraced her, immediately trying to stop himself from crying by blinking his eyes rapidly. Unfortunately he wasn't able to hold them for long as they started to fall down his cheeks. Stephanie comforted him, patting his back and whispering slight 'it's okay's to him.
Matt pulled away and sniffled, his tears staining his eyes and cheeks, even his shirt. Stephanie wiped his tears away, kissing him on the cheek. She offered to help him with making the cake and Matt accepted, getting everything ready. Together, they both made the Jurassic cake, and stared at it for a bit. He zoned out for a while, trying to make sense of what was happening at the moment. He couldn't believe that she was still gone. Steph brought him back to life, tapping him on the shoulder. He sniffled, wiping his eyes once again. He quickly cut a slice and packed it up, and kissed his wife. He told her that he was going, and left. She waved him goodbye and closed the door. She didn't suggest going this time, thinking Matt needed some time to himself now.
While he was out, he went by a florist shop and grabbed an assortment of roses, before leaving to a place he thought he'd never visit again. Her grave. He walked up to it, noticing Mike, her boyfriend, was there. He walked up to him, waving slightly. They both exchanged hellos before it went completely silent. They both stared at the tombstone below them, as Matt set the roses down. There was a bit more silence until Matt decided to speak. “How.. how long have you been here..?” he asked, glancing at the blonde slightly. “All day,” he responded, wiping his eyes. “Some family came with me but they're gone now. As you can see.” he sniffled, fiddling with his hands. Matt remembered about the cake he bought from home and turned towards Mike. “Here. Have this. It's her recipe.” the brunette handed the cake to him as the other male accepted. “Thank you.” he muttered, smiling a bit at the gift. “Did you use her recipe book?” Mike brought up. Matt shook his head. “No, I remembered it, surprisingly.” he shrugged. “Don't know how I managed to.”
Mike nodded in response, before sitting down shortly after. Standing was getting a bit too unbearable for him, since he'd been standing here all day. Matthew joined him, crossing his legs. More time passed on, as Matt stared at the tombstone and the roses back and forth. “Happy Birthday, Ro.” he says quietly, tears starting to fall down his face again.

5 Second Of Summers Debut Album is ranked 17 in the Top 200 Aussie Albums of All Time
congratulations @5sos!!
5 Seconds of Summer, '5 Seconds of Summer'
Capitol Records/Hi Or Hey Records 2014
Storming the top of global charts inside a tornado of quotable lyrics, ripped jeans, and versatile musicality, 5 Seconds of Summer were anointed Australia’s most successful pop-punk export with this album. With it, the band became the first Australian act to achieve a US number one with a debut album, a record that topped the chart in another 13 countries.
Western Sydney born and bred, Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin were mere twinkles in their parents’ eyes when the first wave of pop-punk broke through in the early Nineties. Hemmings, Hood, and Clifford met at small private school Norwest Christian College and bonded over their shared music diet of bands like New Found Glory and blink-182. Famously building their fierce following on YouTube—at first with a cover of Mike Posner’s sentimental “Please Don’t Go” in 2011—Clifford reached out to Irwin via Facebook that same year and they played their first show in December at the Annandale Hotel. Twelve people showed up.
Just before 5 Seconds of Summer was released three years later, the band wereon tour with boy band behemoth One Direction. The global impact was palpable. 5SOS were too pop for Green Day and Sum 41 comparisons, too punk to be tagged with the “boy band” epithet (and they played their own instruments), and too ubiquitous to ignore. The wave of online support through social networks like Snapchat and Twitter meant that when the record’s first single was released, industry figures were already making bets on a number one album. With airtight riffs, Irwin’s crisp percussion—and just enough American lyric bait to appease US fans—“She Looks So Perfect” was infectious and unstoppable. Working closely with John Feldmann, the former leader of Warped Tour-era ska-punk band Goldfinger, 5SOS tapped a leader board of pop-punk songwriting royalty for the album. Jake Sinclair (Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco), Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low, and Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte all helped the band hone their own brand of awkward flirtatiousness and romantic regret—throwing in plenty of scene-trait “whoa-oh-oh”s and “hey-ey-ey-ey”s along the way. Looking back, the collaborations and co-writes with some of their biggest musical influences would have been early bucket list completions for the four rearing adolescents. Hood had been a fan of All Time Low since he was 15 and Good Charlotte were Hemmings’ first ever rock show. “They’re the reason I wanted to be in a band,” Hemmings once told Rolling Stone. “I could relate to a band from a small town, talking about wanting to get out.”
Second single “Don’t Stop”, a clear highlight, marks the band’s biggest collaboration on the album with eight co-writers in the mix. The blend managed to spin teen crush magic with a side of angst. Surprise and delight elements are made all the more syrupy thanks to group harmonies and lyrics that straddle the line between fan demographics: “It gets harder for me / And you know it.” The visualiser for the single played out like a comic book strip. The band traded in their ripped T’s and skinny jeans for lycra as fans were introduced to superhero alter-egos Cal-Pal, SmAsh!, Mike-Ro-Wave, and Dr Fluke. At this point in their career, 5SOS were Australian heartthrobs who could back it up with their sonic makeover of pop-punk.
The record is full of versatility; from power pop ballads like “Everything I Didn’t Say”, “Beside You”, “Long Way Home”, and hit single “Amnesia”, to the emo paranoia of “Lost Boy”, and the gun-the-engine guitars in “End Up Here”, featuring handclaps instead of drums for the final chorus.
The album campaign and roll-out was almost poetic in its strategy. Even with the fact the band’s pre-release campaign trail was the One Direction global tour map (where they played to thousands of screaming fans across more than 100 dates), 5SOS HQ released multiple versions of the album. America received a version with appropriate alternate track “Mrs All American”, Japan received multiple bonus tracks, and the ten B-sides could have made an album on their own. The campaign culminated in one of the most iconic Rolling Stone magazine covers ever published in 2015. It depicted the band fully nude, grabbing their crotches to cover their nether regions, wearing only their song lyrics painted in black and red on their skin.
“I never in a million years would have said they would be on the cover of Rolling Stone in two years,” John Feldmann told Rolling Stone. “I had so many fucking people say that ‘guitars are over. They are over. It’s all EDM and programming. And that’s what people wanna hear.’ And thank God, they proved them all wrong.”
