FINALLY I managed to install minecraft on freebsd

the official launcher doesn't have a freebsd version, I can't login with microsoft on prism launcher, and the multimc package in the ports collection is an old version, I can't login on that one because it's from before the switch to microsoft accounts and it wants to connect to the old mojang servers

I had to compile the latest version of multimc, then get it to find lwjgl, but now It Works

so like i think filesystem formats are 95% "if you don't understand what people are saying it means you dont need to care about this" and i understand almost nothing but im interested in something someone said about how btrfs and ssd managers use such similar systems for block based writing and COWing that if you made sure they were block-aligned itd be even more efficient than a naive approach & negate the problems people usually raise with excessive ssd wear with btrfs. but i don't know shit about that or how to begin to know shit about that. it seems like it's maybe a matter of config stuff but i haven't really gotten into OS & firmware level config stuff so i don't know how that goes. also it's fucked up that the accepted/ official pronunciation of btrfs is "butter"

#i think like 2 of my mutuals also use linux i dont like expect people to know what I'm talking about but i don't wanna make a reddit account #so im just saying shit on here instead #i didn't bother saving anything except my personal files and the folders for my minecraft launcher and stardew valley when i wiped it so #idk but i don't think those are that big and i had like 650gb free of 1tb and i truly dont know where the fuck that came from #my only modern game is 7dtd. i don't use that many programs and blender is like so crazy small for what it is #like literally what the fuck was i downloading. i mostly downloaded from the internet instead of apt or flatpak so i didnt like Have a List

playing minecraft on lan through hamachi creates a weird situation where you can have a vanilla game while your friend runs the most insane mods and cheats on the same world

#dude downloaded some pirate launcher and it had a ton of mods in #he's playing minecraft for the first time and was shocked to hear i don't have a minimap that shows me all the ores #caused insane lag by looking at the WHOLE WORLD on the damn map #had to dig one piece of dirt thirty times

cursed figura model that somehow imported two textures at once that keep z-fighting. he has two sides..

#experimenting with my 58 mc mods including a 3rd person shoulder camera and remembered the figura mod #and honestly..? its bad. to play with. i dont think it might even be worth making a custom model for this #though i cant deny its cool to see him like this with an actual character model and animations #but still.. idk if its worth all the trouble. maybe when im really starved for something new to do like i was months ago with this model #the worst part is just deciding what gets to be a joint or not before it becomes uncanny/not minecraft-like #he will always look slightly out of place bc all the other mobs are so simple though..#i wish the custom entitiy model resourcepacks worked with faithful 32x. i dont think they do? bc theyre custom? sad #anyways. had to download the 'old' launcher bc the modern one refuses to log me in and i spent one hour trying to fix it 🙃#and after going through literally like 70 pages on modrinth and downloading all the mods i dont feel like playing anymore lol #the weird feeling i have in the right part of my face is not helping either. my jaw hurds #dextxt
