How to Search Blog For Specific Sprites

This blog is dedicated to exporting the in-game artwork and archiving development updates for Fear and Hunger and it's sequel, Fear and Hunger: Termina. Please see below the cut for details on how I run this account, as well as the tagging system I use to make finding certain images easier.

Blog Guidelines:

I post rips/archive works up to once a day, aside from answering asks or blog updates. I run on a queue usually. I may post less frequently depending on how busy I am.

I will not answer requests directly, but I DO read every request and try to get to them in order. It's just me here, a one-man band. So please be patient if I do not get to your ask/request soon.

There is a 30 image limit per post, so I will space out requests and similar content across posts if needed. I will leave links on each post that has another post that directly connects to it.

I try to answer and post requests as precisely as possible, but please note that an unclear or overly broad request will have to be taken with a grain of salt. It helps if you specify the game, and request something small or very specific. A general request for more of a certain character is acceptable.

I am open to revisions if I am incorrect about anything I state on this blog. I try my best to research where sprites may or may not be used, but I do not know every little thing about the series. If I make major revisions, I will state it in the post after editing.

I do not require credit. I don't really care, it's not like I made the art. If anything, credit Miro. However, if you wish to credit this blog or link to it, be my guest. No yums shall be yucked.

I am not the original owner of this blog or the idea of archiving in-game content. This blog, "funger-rips", was owned by someone prior before it was deleted. I am only mentioning this because all of the content they ripped was deleted. So if you think, "I swore I saw this ripped before," that's maybe why. I do not know the original owner.

#sprite rips: The bulk of this blog. I go into the game's files directly and convert the artwork into usable png's.

#devblog content: Archive of any "third party" content Miro posts. Includes dev screenshots, YouTube videos, teasers, old scrapped content, etc. posted on his various socials. Sources will be given. I will NOT archive something unless I have definitive proof Miro posted it.

#mod talks: Blog updates and maintenance content. Mundane stuff that aren't rips or archives.

#moonscorched: Any moonscorched content.

#unused content: Any content that is found in the files, but not used in-game. Includes things like "beta" versions of designs.

#sprite edits: Whenever I post a sprite that I actively modified outside of cropping. I only modify content for informative reasons- such as comparing canon and non-canon content, or stuff between games.

#videos, #gifs, and the characters' names are all self explanatory.

Modified from the pattern "Velociraptor" by Megan Lapp (Crafty Intentions) The body is crocheted in acrylic yarn, then wired and stuffed with poly-fil. I followed the velociraptor pattern up to the end of the body, then did my own thing for the head and neck, as well as all the detailing. Details were added with needle-felting and dry-brushing with chalk pastels, then lightly brushing over the body with a thin! coating of Mod Podge. The result isn't exactly soft or fluffy, but due to the wire frame, almost every part of it can be adjusted for posing: the tail, neck, head, arms, legs, and feet, so it's perfect for display. 10" tall x 13" long.

NPV Skin Textures - A Primer

Hello, I promise at some point I will put together a full tutorial with lots of screenshots and my own tutorial file (primarily for the folder structure but it won't be required) and such. For now, I just wanna talk about custom pathing skin textures and especially UV/VTK overlays.

Glossary

custom pathing: renaming a file or adding it to a different folder in your project to prevent any other game files (vanilla or modded) from overwriting your project and vice versa. I prefer custom folder structures because it helps me find files more easily.

.mi file: material instance. You can read more about these on the wiki. All you need to know is that it is a type of texture file.

.xbm file: from the wiki: .dds files in a format REDEngine can use. Essentially, just images. When you export them, they usually get exported as PNGs for you to edit. The majority of modded skin textures are going to be .xbm files and what you want to pay particular attention to when custom pathing.

localMaterialBuffer: this tells the game what texture files to look for and use when loading an entity.

DepotPath: the file path to an asset (e.g. the xbm or mi file)

relative path: this is the path to an asset contained in the project.

Pro tip: how to easily add a modded file to your project

The easiest way to quickly find and add the texture you need to your project is to search for the texture name in the asset browser. Then, you can right click on the file and hover over "Add selected from archive." You should then see a list of mods that contain that file. Pay attention to the file size and if there are other files with the same name in the list of results in the asset browser.

Click on the mod and the file from that specific mod will be added to your project!

Custom Pathing the Textures

For this, we're going to be looking at t0_000_pma_base__full.mesh from the NPV of my dear boy Vincent Guerra. I also use the UV framework for him, so we're using the mesh included in the UV framework.

If you're using a tutorial file, make sure you overwrite the vanilla body mesh with the modded one for the framework you're using. Each framework's body will include additional file paths in their respective textures for the various overlays.

1. In the mesh file

In my screenshot, I've cleaned up the appearances I don't need for this NPV. This is generally good practice to keep things neat and tidy.

VG uses 02_ca_limestone. Find the material entry in the localMaterialBuffer that matches the skin tone your NPV is using. You can use NoraLee's Parts Picker if you're not sure what the name of the skin tone your V uses is.

You'll need to add the .mi file listed under baseMaterial and the d03_naked.xbm and n03_naked.xbm underneath "values" to your project. Make sure you rename the files or move the files to a different folder inside the project. That's the whole point of custom pathing after all. (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧

Right click on the file in your project explorer (on the left with all the files and folders for your project) and select "copy relative path to game file". That's what you'll paste on the right when you select the texture.

Once that's done, save the file and open up the .mi file you just added to your project.

2. The first .mi file

This one is simple, there's only one file we need to add and custom path.

Save, and open up the new .mi file you just added to your project.

3. The second .mi file

This one has another .mi file and textures we'll need to add. It will include the same d03_naked.xbm and n03_naked.xbm. Since we already added those to our project in the first step, we can just recopy their respective relative paths and paste into the appropriate sections.

Add the roughness file to your project and path that. Remember, you can copy and paste the file name into the asset browser if you need to add it from a mod instead of the base game vanilla files.

Save and open the next .mi file.

4. The third .mi file

This is where you'll usually find the spots to put your tattoo and other overlays.

Save, and you're done!

The last .mi file

Generally, once you hit base\materials\file.exe or engine\textures, you don't need to custom path those. You may still want to add this .mi file to your project anyway, just in case the friend you're sending the NPV to has some kind of mod that overwrites it.

Personally, I take a very thorough approach and custom path as much as I can to ensure the NPV is a completely self-contained entity outside of base engine files.

Final Thoughts

This process applies for custom pathing any mesh in your NPV. The body, complexion, hair, clothes. You're going to find the localMaterialBuffer and follow the texture paths.

Some general tips:

Look into any .mi file to see if it has additional items that may need to be custom pathed.

Don't forget to check the "values" section in the cMaterialInstance. If something looks off with textures, you likely just forgot to check there and path them appropriately.

When in doubt, just redo the pathing. Right click > copy relative path > paste.

And remember, NPVs are essentially Mr. Potato Head dolls. The .app file is the body and all the components are the features and clothing you can slap on the doll. Wanna add two different types of face cyberware? Just add 'em!

Mon calendrier (partie 1)

Ça faisait un moment que l’idée de refaire entièrement le calendrier du jeu me trottait dans la tête, mais comme c’est un projet particulièrement chronophage, j’avais toujours remis ça à plus tard. Finalement, je me suis lancée, et voilà le résultat !

Le but était de rendre le calendrier aussi fidèle que possible à celui que nous utilisons. J'y ai donc intégré les fêtes « principales » ainsi que quelques jours spéciaux, inspirés (ou non) de la réalité. Bien sûr, c'est une sélection très personnelle.

Pour les saisons, j'ai opté pour une durée de 14 jours : au-delà, c'est un peu long à mon goût, et en dessous, ça passe beaucoup trop vite. J'ai donc dû répartir les 365 jours de l'année dans les 56 petites cases du calendrier — un vrai casse-tête !

Si vous cherchez un calendrier pour des saisons de 28 jours, je vous conseille celui d'Abneliasims, qui m'a beaucoup inspiré.

J’ai pioché des idées un peu partout, et cela a finalement été assez difficile de me restreindre et de trouver le bon équilibre. Je ne l'ai pas encore testé en jeu, donc il se peut qu’il y ait un peu trop d’événements (mais comme tous ne concerneront pas forcément mes Sims, j’en ignorerai sans doute certains). Je pense aussi que je le personnaliserai encore davantage au fil du temps, en fonction du foyer avec lequel je joue.

Printemps - Été

Les cases entourées de bleu correspondent aux jours fériés, tandis que celles entourées de jaune représentent les jours sans école.

J'utilise un mod* qui permet d'ajouter la tradition « vacances scolaires » à un jour férié, offrant ainsi un jour de congé uniquement aux enfants et aux adolescents.

J'ai cherché à utiliser un maximum de traditions du jeu, mais étant donné leur nombre limité, j'ai téléchargé des traditions supplémentaires, notamment celles de Kiara, traduites par Kimikosoma, ainsi que celles de Caradriel (en particulier celles liées à l'écriture et aux enfants).

Enfin, pour ajouter un peu de variété, j'ai remplacé les icônes des jours fériés par de nouvelles*. Celles de Zerbu sont également très réussies.

Regardons cela de plus près…

La Fête du Cinéma : C'est un évènement inspiré du Printemps du cinéma, donc j'imagine qu'il y a des réductions sur le prix des places ce jour là ! Pour les Sims travaillant dans la carrière cinéma, cela peut être l'occasion d'organiser une sorte de festival de Cannes… ou, pour les plus casaniers, de regarder un film bien au chaud dans leur canapé.

La Journée des Farces : J'ai supprimé celle générée par le jeu et l'ai placée au 1er avril pour qu'elle remplace notre Poisson d'Avril !

Les Vacances de Printemps : C'est l'équivalent de nos vacances de Pâques. Grâce au mod mentionné plus haut, il s'agit d'une journée sans école, réservée uniquement aux enfants et aux adolescents. Pour chaque journée de vacances scolaires, à l'exception des journées spéciales, j'ai suggéré une activité à réaliser, mais je prévois d'ajouter de nouvelles traditions au fil des ans, ou en fonction du gameplay que je développe.

La Fête des Œufs : Pas besoin de longues explications : c'est Pâques ! Malheureusement, je n'ai pas pu faire en sorte que cela tombe un dimanche, sous peine de tout décaler. Du coup, j'imagine que mes Sims prendront un jour de congé ou organiseront un grand repas le soir.

Le Jour du Repos : C'est le premier véritable jour férié de mon calendrier : la Fête du Travail ! Bon, pas de chance, c'est un samedi… mais comme dans la vraie vie, on ne choisit pas quand tombe le 1er mai. Et puis, il y a des Sims qui travaillent le week-end ; je suis sûre qu'ils seront ravis !

La Fête du Livre : Le cinéma a sa journée dédiée, alors pourquoi pas la littérature ? Je n'emmène pas souvent mes Sims à la bibliothèque, ce sera l'occasion parfaite pour le faire !

La journée de la Solidarité : Inspirée d'une vraie journée, j'ai choisi d'en faire un jour dédié à la générosité. Au programme : apprécier ce que l'on a et soutenir ceux qui en ont besoin. Ce pourrait être l'occasion pour les Sims célèbres d'organiser un gala de bienfaisance !

La Fête de la Famille : Je voulais créer une journée pour célébrer les gardiens de nos Sims, qu'il s'agisse d'un membre de la famille (parents, grands-parents, adelphes…) ou de toute autre personne prenant soin d'eux.

La Fête de la Musique : C’est un événement très populaire, donc je ne pouvais absolument pas passer à côté ! Que ce soit à la maison ou dans les rues, chaque Sims peut exprimer sa passion pour la musique.

Le Jour du Feux de joie : Inspiré de la fête de la Saint-Jean, ce jour marque l'arrivée de l'été. Elle peut prendre plusieurs formes : organiser un barbecue en plein air ou attendre la tombée de la nuit pour danser et chanter autour d'un feu. J'avais pensé ajouter la tradition "enlever ses vêtements", mais c'était pas très kids-friendly...

La Journée de la Terre : Un peu comme la journée de la générosité, ce jour est dédié à l'écologie. C'est l'occasion idéale de se mettre au jardinage, d'installer des panneaux solaires ou des éoliennes, de faire du bénévolat à un nettoyage de plage, ou même de faire un petit don annuel à une association de protection de l'environnement, comme "La parole aux arbres". Une belle manière de prendre soin de la planète !

La Fête de la Nation : Deuxième jour férié de mon calendrier, elle correspond à notre 14 juillet ! C'est une journée particulièrement appréciée par les Sims travaillant dans la carrière politique.

Les Vacances d'Été : Je trouve qu'il manque vraiment des vacances d'été dans le jeu, et c'est une des raisons pour lesquelles je m'ennuie rapidement avec les enfants. J'ai l'impression qu'ils sont constamment à l'école (et s'ils sont inscrits à une activité extra-scolaire, on ne les voit plus du tout !). Pour ce qui est des adolescents, depuis l'extension Années Lycée, je trouve qu'on en profite un peu plus. Mais dans mon calendrier, il me tenait absolument à cœur d'ajouter une semaine de vacances scolaires pour que l'on puisse pleinement profiter de l'été. Les possibilités sont nombreuses : on peut envoyer ses enfants en colonie de vacances (comme un camp scout à Granite Falls), les faire séjourner chez un membre de la famille, ou encore organiser une journée entre amis dans un centre de loisirs grâce aux groupes. Et bien sûr, il est aussi possible de partir en vacances en famille à l'autre bout du monde, à condition que les adultes prennent quelques jours de congé !

J'imagine que les Sims travaillant dans la carrière éducation pourraient également bénéficier de quelques jours de congé pendant cette période.

La Nuit des Étoiles : Cet événement m'a été suggéré par une amie et il correspond à la période des Perséides. Si comme moi vous ne savez pas ce que c'est : il s'agit d'une pluie de météores annuelle qui se déroule chaque été, généralement entre le 17 juillet et le 24 août. C'est l'occasion idéale pour observer des étoiles filantes, souvent visibles à l'œil nu, surtout lors des nuits dégagées et loin des lumières de la ville.

La Rentrée Scolaire : Parce que toutes les bonnes choses ont une fin... C'est le moment pour nos petits Sims de prendre de bonnes résolutions !

La Journée du Patrimoine : C'est une journée européenne bien connue, et j'ai choisi de l'élargir pour en faire une célébration de toutes les formes d'arts. J'imagine que ce jour-là, les musées sont gratuits et des réductions sont offertes pour les spectacles, permettant aux Sims de découvrir de nouvelles œuvres ou de participer à un événement culturel.

mod wonder - for weird drink concoctions, i love mixed drinks, like cranberry and apple juice or a variety of soda mixes. for food, depends on what you’d count as weird. oh except, don’t cancel me for this, i eat damp cheerios. i can’t have liquid milk, or any kind, but hard cheerios are sometimes too dry for me, so i add a little tiny bit of water to make them damp, but not full on wet. i also eat matzah with charoset or butter, which isn’t really weird, but might be to someone who’s not jewish

Mod Luxray 🐈‍⬛️⚡️- OKOK SO FOOD watermelon, Tajin, creole seasoning, and whipped cream[cool whip works best], mush it all up and freeze it, you get a sweet with a slight spice sorbet-icecream ass things its SO GOOD. Drinks have to be Lime Jarritos, brisk ice tea-lemonade, and milk/cream, creates a cream soda type thing, back story for both is my mommas friend growin up would always make these for me while i was in the hospital, which was alot, so its become something of a comfort food

Mod Avon 📖 - Lmao I just talked about wildcard sodas! Love that. But for me, I don’t tend to go too wild on concoctions (the autism texture thing goes hard for me). People get upset with me over gummy bears in blended custards though. Like those blended custards at Rita’s? Love gummy bears in those. It reminds me of the good memories I still have of my family.

Mod Jester 🖍 - Not really sure if it’s weird but we love mac and cheese and peas so much. We first thought it was weird when our mom introduced it to us but we tried and loved it. The texture is mainly why we keep going back to it.

Mod Weeping ❤️ - Mac and cheese and peas, mac and cheese and plain lays or salt and vi what lays in between bread (Mac and cheese chip sandwhich 😎), mayo on peas-, spaghetti and peas, and chicken sandwhich with mac and cheese (preferably baked mac and cheese tho?). Mac and cheese and peas was a childhood thing, the Mac and cheese and chip sandwhich was something my brother and I made up, the mayo on peas is something my hip moms family taught me and they called it “cowboy peas” and said it was a southern USA thing but I have never met another person who did this so they may have been lying lmfao, spaghetti and peas was something an upstairs neighbor did and we had to eat it or not eat basically-, the mac and cheese chicken sandwhich was bc of that Chick-fil-A TikTok hack that went around for a bit. Also, and this is a PICA thing that we just never stopped doing, those fucking paper lollipop sticks bro- also some middle eastern foods and thing that ppl generally dont like in the USA unless they’re from there?
