As James drives the cabriolet and Remus sits in the back seat, their eyes constantly meet in the front rear-view mirror.

Whenever Remus blushes in embarrassment, burying his face back in his book and hiding his smile behind a cigarette, James grins.

They think no one notices their staring contest.

- Prongs, if you're gonna look at Moony instead of the road, let me drive, - Sirius, sitting next to James, says irritably as they drive another pothole.

Peter, sitting in the back next to Remus, nods.

James laughs. He doesn't mind. Especially if it means he can switch seats and sit in the back, not only to watch Remus, but also to hold his hand and intertwine their fingers.

Remus' gaze, which he gives James, promises that Remus will let James distract him from the book and cigarette.

you and Remus were on the couch watching tv, while James raked through the kitchen in search of god knows what. 

he was making a noise, and quite frankly, he was giving you a head. 

“Jamie!”

his clattering stopped at your call of his name, a sheepish grin on his face as he came back into the living room. 

“yes love?”

you cradled his face in your hands, stroking your thumbs across his cheeks while his eyes flicked between you and Remus. 

he already knew why you shouted on him, but James didn’t want you to get annoyed at him for it. 

“what are you looking for?”

Remus sat up behind you, soothing a hand across your side while speaking to James. 

“you’re making a lot of noise James, whatever it is can’t be that important”

you watched as James’ brows knitted together, a pout tugging at his lips. 

he was in on himself, you could tell, and it made you frown. 

“ignore Remus, what’s wrong James”

James shook his head, resting his hands on the back of the couch. 

“next doors cat is back. do you remember where i put the kibble?”

that made you laugh, amusement painting your features. 

of course James was trying to feed the neighbours cat again, even after they had asked him to stop. 

but Remus disagreed with James, had told him plenty times to stop. 

“you’re still trying to kidnap Mango?”

James chuckled, nodding his head with a soft smile tugging at his lips. 

“yeah so come help me look, please?”

you stood from the couch, even as Remus tried to keep you in place. 

his hands rested on your hips, trying to pull you back to him. 

“Remus… you don’t have to like it, but it makes him happy”

he cast a glance to James, and then back to you before he sighed. 

“i’m not talking to the neighbour if you two steal her cat this time”

both of you smiled at his words, while you leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek. 

carefully, you rounded the couch and moved into the kitchen while James followed after you, already hatching a plan on how to catch the cat. 

“you get the kibble and i’ll do the catching, i’m not cleaning you up if the cat scratches you again James”

remus lupin chronic pain haver. remus lupin cane user. remus lupin sometime wheelchair user. remus lupin with arthritis, perhaps?? remus lupin with EDS, perhaps?? either way, always, DISABLED REMUS LUPIN.

peter decorated remus’ first cane (a kinda crappy metal one) with stickers and doodles, which made remus smile every time he saw them. the boys commissioned a lovely handmade wooden one for remus for his birthday a few years after. sirius learnt woodworking solely to be able to repair/make canes for remus. james bought him some good quality finger splints because of his arthritis, and continues to replace them as needed, or buy him pretty ones for events. the boys have supported and always will support remus!!!

been thinking about this lately: au where regulus is remus’ doctor; regulus and sirius have a good relationship and sirius occasionally drops by regulus’ practice to have lunch, only to end up flirting shamelessly and inappropriately for months with his little brother’s big brown eyed patient. on the other hand, however, remus is not to be trusted to go to the doctor by himself, and so how could his over protective best friend james potter ever let him go alone? and oh, isn’t remus’ mean doctor just the most outrageously attractive man he’s ever seen?

Thinking a lot about how James and Remus could have met at the park/oceanarium in modern au, where Remus was with eight-year-old Teddy and James was with five-year-old Jamie.

They quickly find common ground while waiting in line for ice cream.

In the middle of their conversation, Jamie pulls James' hand and looks at him with his adorable big eyes:

- Grandpa, I've changed my mind. Please get me a chocolate ice cream!

When Remus hears this, he chokes on his own breath.

- Oh, I thought it was your son, you look so much alike, - he explains when he sees James' curious and worried look.

They continue to chat and find out that Jamie will be attending the same school as Teddy, and that they both enjoy detective podcasts and planetarium exhibitions.

That evening, as Remus thinks about his new acquaintance, he realises the feeling blooms in his chest that he hasn't experienced in a long time, immersed in worries about his son and a sense of insignificance.

Remus can't get over his crush, and his friends, noticing the changes in his behavior, force him to tell them about his encounter with James.

They support him and assure him that he is worthy of love.

But they also tease him in a friendly way.

Dorcas then laughs for a long time about how Remus fell in love with the grandfather.

Kingsley laughs and says: well, we should have guessed that all those knitted sweaters and brown tweed jackets would attract some granddaddy.

And then they see this "granddaddy" James in a T-shirt and jeans that hug his magnificent muscles, his perfectly trimmed beard, his "I just shagged" hair, and his wide, white smile.

- Omg, I'd have sat on this granddaddy's lap, - Dorcas whispers as Remus blushes.

James smiles to him.

James and Remus kissed once.

It was during a Gryffindor party celebrating a win against Hufflepuff. James was making his rounds, chatting with everyone, smiling just like always.

Remus was in a corner, a book in his lap.

“Moony?”

He looked up, “Yes?”

“You should kiss me,” James rushed out.

Remus quirked a brow but waited for him to elaborate.

“I really wanna kiss someone, but everyone else here will get weird about it.” James shrugged and looked at his feet.

“Okay,” Remus hmmed and stood up, “Not here, though.”

It happened more after that. James would get too wound up, have too much energy, or get detention and miss practice and Remus would just have kiss him senseless.

If it evolved past that, well… Remus doesn’t kiss and tell.

Peter: Remus, why are you always sarcastic to everyone except James?

Remus: Because, James takes everything too literally. He can’t catch sarcasm.

James: Hey, have you seen me on the pitch? I catch everything.

Remus: Sure you do.

James: Aw, thanks mate.
