The pressure of magma upwards toward the surface has slowed slightly in recent hours, and the number of overnight earthquakes has decreased somewhat. But an eruption of the magma through the surface somewhere along the underground magma corridor is still expected by experts in the very short term.

The magma tunnel is about 15km long and runs southwesterly across the peninsula to the sea. The magma is apparently currently closest to the surface at the tunnel's northern end; about 0.8 km below the surface.

One caution for those of you hunting online news about all this: Twitter/X is (what a surprise) full of garbage info about the situation, including numerous pictures and video of old eruptions that have nothing to do with this one. Check your sources carefully before drawing any conclusions.
