Fireproof waddling selfie

Posing with a waddling of Muscovy ducks (Cairina moschata domestica), who just survived a fire that razed through 95 houses near my apartment in Barangay Sambag II, Cebú City.

Although Muscovy ducks originated in the Americas, they have become a popular domesticated breed due to the preference to the stronger flavor if its meat as compared to the itik (Native Mallard / Anas platyrhynchos).

However the itik is preferred for producing the boiled fertilized eggs called balut and the preserved salted eggs called “itlog na maalat” and “itlog na pula”.

The generic term used for duck is the Spanish word “pato”.

Watch for attack ducks

Last night I watched the most gorgeous sunset.  It wasn’t the sun itself that made it gorgeous but the place I found myself in.  I sat on a park bench next to a pond and I fed the ducks.
