Audiences demand convenience, personalization, and immersive experiences, all of which can be delivered through a well-developed mobile application.
From OTT platform development to podcast and music streaming apps, custom solutions are now essential for media brands, production houses, indie artists, and entertainment startups.
📈 Market Stats Worth Noting:
The global video streaming market is expected to surpass $920 billion by 2030.
Time spent on entertainment and media apps increased by 40% post-pandemic.
Subscription-based platforms like Netflix, Hotstar, and Gaana have seen record-breaking growth.
If you're in the business of content creation or distribution, now is the time to invest in expert entertainment app development services.
🛠️ Core Features of a Winning Entertainment App
To compete with giants like Netflix, Spotify, or Amazon Prime, your app must go beyond basic functionality. Here's what users expect from a top-tier entertainment mobile app:
1. Content Streaming (Video/Audio)
High-quality streaming with adaptive bitrate, low buffering, and seamless playback across devices.
2. User Profiles & Personalization
Smart algorithms that recommend content based on watch history, preferences, or listening habits.
3. Subscription & Monetization Models
Support for freemium access, in-app purchases, advertisements, and recurring subscriptions.
4. Search & Filter
Powerful content discovery with keyword search, genres, languages, trending content, and more.
5. Multi-Platform Access
Cross-platform compatibility (Android, iOS, smart TVs, tablets, etc.) with a unified user experience.
6. Offline Downloads
Let users enjoy content without internet access by enabling secure offline downloads.
7. Live Streaming
Incorporate live shows, concerts, or podcasts with real-time chat and engagement.

💰 Monetization Strategies for Entertainment Apps
Monetization is crucial. Your entertainment app can generate recurring revenue through several models:
🔒 Subscription (SVOD)
Offer access to premium content on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis.
🎯 Advertisement (AVOD)
Free content monetized through banner ads, interstitials, or video ads using Google AdMob or Facebook Audience Network.
📥 Pay-per-view
Ideal for exclusive concerts, movie releases, or premium shows.
💼 Freemium
Provide basic content for free while charging for access to premium features or shows.

New Dragon Age: The Veilguard Journal entry:
"Journal #9 Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe Co-Composers Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s Composers Announcement"

"Hey everyone! Today, we’re so happy to announce that two-time Oscar-winner Hans Zimmer and Grammy-winner Lorne Balfe have co-composed the Official Soundtrack (OST) for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the new single-player fantasy RPG experience coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, EA App, and Epic Games Store on October 31, 2024. The legendary composers have collaborated on dozens of projects throughout their careers and have worked closely with the development team at BioWare to create a score celebrating the world of Thedas and its heroes. Fans will be able to pre-order the Official Soundtrack album beginning October 18th on iTunes and Amazon Music, with the formal release to follow on November 1st via Lakeshore Records. Moreover, in celebration of the announcement, Dragon Age: The Veilguard Main Theme, has been released as the first single from the official soundtrack, and can be downloaded and streamed now on all major music services such as Spotify, iTunes, and more. “One of our goals with the music for Dragon Age: The Veilguard was to provide a strong anchor between the world of Thedas and the diverse characters that inhabit that world,” said Cody Behiel, Audio Director for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. “We wanted to ensure that throughout the game's story, whether at its most epic or its most intimate, players were able to feel their actions connect to the personal relationships they have been fostering. Working with Hans and Lorne took these ideas to greater emotional heights than we thought possible and I am so excited for players to experience it.” Oscar-winner Zimmer, one of the world’s most renowned composers, has won numerous awards and honors for his scores in such films as Dune, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception, and many more. With over 100 film scores to his credit, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the first video game soundtrack composed by Zimmer in nearly 10 years. Speaking about his work on Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Hans Zimmer said, “Epic stories lend themselves to epic scores, and the narrative tapestry BioWare has woven in The Veilguard never left me wanting for inspiration, be it during the game’s moments of shining heroism or darkest emotional pitfalls. I’m proud to have shared the journey of creating the musical backdrop for the latest Dragon Age adventure with Lorne and the entire design team.” GRAMMY Award-winner Balfe has over 170 composer credits across movies, TV and games, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, and Beyond: Two Souls, all of which received nominations for Best Original Music from the BAFTA Games Awards. “The world of Dragon Age is an unprecedented immersive experience, and never more so than in Dragon Age: The Veilguard,” said Lorne Balfe. “Crafting this score alongside Hans Zimmer has allowed us to bring an epic new majesty to the realm of Thedas, bringing these characters and their stories to the next level. I cannot wait for people to play this game.” Players can pre-order Dragon Age: The Veilguard now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. We still have a few more things to talk about before release, and we hope you enjoy our main theme in the meantime! — The Dragon Age Team"

Nintendo just launched a music player app instead of just adding their music to Spotify and Apple music.
It's incredibly laggy and keeps skipping the music and more than half their discography is missing aka they only have Splatoon 3 and the main story's songs (no side order or final fest tunes or splat 1&2)
I'm honestly kind of pissed bc they are a giant corporation, their app shouldn't be running like this and skipping all over the place. It's very hard to find songs and won't just list the songs on the first click, you have to click "all music" on each set of songs instead of the prioritized "top picks" for everything.
Like yes I understand they just launched this. But it's paid for by the online membership and it is shoddy and laggy and hard to use. Also I bet you won't be able to make playlists with "inappropriate names" (aka the type of playlists I make in Spotify such as 'gay and evil music')
Why they couldn't have just dumped everything on already existing streaming services like Capcom and Sega have confounds me. They're like the only game company that doesn't have their shit readily available on Spotify. Fucking Christ nearly every indie developer uploads most of their music on every streaming service too jfc.
#dantes vibe corner#also they havent uploaded classic animal crossing music yet and uhhhhh#i dont like the vibe of them doing big drop releases#also good luck! only pokemon scarlet violet are available for pokemon trafks

FuRyu announces school life RPG VARLET for PS5, Switch, and PC - Gematsu
Publisher FuRyu and developer AQURIA have announced school life RPG VARLET for PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). It will launch on August 28 worldwide.
In Japan, the PlayStation 5 and Switch versions will be available both physically and digitally for 7,980 yen (8,778 yen after tax). A Limited BOX will also be available for 12,680 yen (13,948 yen after tax), which includes an original box, 80-page creative art book, the special album CDs “Character Vocal Side” and “Original Soundtrack Side,” an A5-size canvas board, a code to download the protagonist outfits from Monark and The Caligula Effect 2, and an original sticker.
Here is an overview of the game, via FuRyu:
VARLET draws upon FuRyu’s experience developing immersive, story-driven games, and will challenge players to explore the duality of their own nature as they navigate the perilous high school halls. Welcome within the halls of Kousei Academy, the first school to implement the cross-reality, virtual reality network known as “Johari,” which is used for everything from finding basic information and making purchases to serving as a social networking and messaging app. The app has resulted in a marked increase in users desire for approval and attention amongst peers, and soon an urban legend begins circulating about users disappearing into otherworldly “Glitches” if those desires grow too strong. And worse yet, monsters inhabiting the “Glitches” are said to replace users in the real world leaving everyone none the wiser.
The protagonist soon discovers that this urban legend is very real and some students have already been replaced by monsters, forcing them to take a stand. As a member of the Student Support Services (SSS), a guild dedicated to solving the academy’s troubles, players must guide their friends, strengthen bonds, and fight to protect the school from impending doom. However, navigating these relationships comes with its own challenges—getting too close to multiple people may lead to unexpected consequences. At the core of VARLET‘s experience is its dynamic Triad Stats system, which shapes character progression based on player choices. These six distinct attributes are divided between Light and Dark Triad traits, influencing dialogue options and passive battle skills. Light Triad stats emphasize morality, sympathy, and altruism, while Dark Triad stats lean into Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism. Players will determine their true nature, either as a guiding leader who uplifts and empowers allies in battle or as a ruthless ruler wielding immense power even at a personal cost.
The game’s staff includes:

What is Oreca Battle?
Released in March 2012 [JAPAN] Oreca Battle is a trading card arcade game where you scan your card, fight monsters, collect them, raise them, and combine them into new monsters! This game set in a fantasy world of Oreca where each chapter tells a story of different protagonists in different time & place. English version of this game has been distributed and available for certain Asia countries (Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan). Oreca Battle has a Sister game called "Otoca♥D'or" (a rhythm arcade game with similar mechanic as Oreca Battle that's targeted for girls)(a game that's also share the same universe)
This game has 5 Manga titles (two of them being illustrated by “Posuka Demizu” herself) and an anime adaptation in 2014 (available via Crunchyroll or any Anime streaming site)(-Optional but not a recommended way to get into Oreca Battle-)
—(Please keep in mind that some of the Oreca mangas are spin off/not canon to the actual in-game lore and the anime adaptation's storyline is completely different from it's manga adaptation!)—
Unfortunately the game's service has been shut down in March 31st 2022 after it's 10th anniversary (due to running out of card materials), which means it's English translation has been discontinued after New Chapter 3 Phase 3 being implemented. Thankfully some of the machines are still active in certain location thanks to Japanese players.
This series has:
Anime adaptation (2014)
Official Program series via KONAMI's YT channel (134 EPs)
Pandora's Medal (Coin Shooter Spin-off game)
CoroCoro Manga Adaptation
Portable device, Toys & Merchandise
iOS App (way different than the arcade version)
Official Youtube Channel (2024)

What is Oreca Battle 2?

Official Release Date: December 17th 2024 Oreca Battle 2 is the sequel of the original series, it has been beta test in May 2024 after ORE'N's release. Just like the first game, you scan your card, fight monsters, collect them, evolve them, and combine them into new monsters! The story set in 10 years after the event of Oreca Battle 1
On May 10th 2024 Oreca Battle Twitter announced Oreca Battle 2's first beta test held at Sapura Yokohama Asobi Town (Northport Mall 6F) for location test until May 12th.
This series has:
Official Youtube Channel (2024)
CoroCoro Manga Adaptation

What is Otoca♥D'or ?

Released in March 12th 2015 Otoca♥D'or is a Japanese arcade rhythm game (and the Sister game of Oreca Battle) developed by Konami and released in 2015 as part of their Bemani music game line. It combines music rhythm gameplay with magical girl themes, fashion, and battle elements. You play as a magical girl, known as a "Doll," who battles other magical girls by performing songs. The better you play (hitting rhythm notes accurately), the stronger your performance becomes, allowing you to deal more "damage" and win stage battles.
This series has:
Short 4-koma manga
Music Videos
Merchandise
OST

What is ORE'N?

Released in April 15th 2024 (beta test in late 2023)
ORE'N is a Japanese exclusive digital trading card game and the spiritual successor to Oreca Battle for browser (Mobile & PC), with new characters, new settings, new mechanic and new stories to tell.
Just like it's first game, you fight monsters, collect them, evolve, and combine them into new monsters!
The new story take place in a world that's mixed with medieval and futuristic setting (and heavily implied to be the future of Oreca Battle).
This game also has a fully-voiced interactive manga that's illustrated by Posuka Demizu via Shounen Jump+, and it's connected to the game itself.
• Unfortunately, KONAMI consider ORE'N as NFT game due to the use of Resella. However it doesn't use Cryptocurrency, but rather use real life currency such as JPY ¥, while it doesn't sound harmful, it still gives a very "bad name" to the original first game
※ The admin of this blog is an F2P/Free-to-Play Player, I don't buy anything using real money, the real purpose of me playing this game is to archive everything that's related to Oreca and the updates.
-It's up to you whether you want to play this game or not, I don't really encourage you to play it-

HEY YOU!
Yes, I'm talking to you!
The one with the face uncomfortableably close to your phone/laptop?
Thought so.
Do you feel like your life is lacking whimsy? Like you're addicted to your phone and your ipad, nought but a zombie to streaming services and crappy apps like Shein and Temu?
You probably do if you've ended up here. I know I do. So here are some tips to help you disconnect from the rat race that I've been seeing more and more people do recently (maybe because I'm on the physical media side of TikTok).
1) PHYSICAL MEDIA, PEOPLE. Streaming services are using ads now. UNSKIPPABLE ADVERTISING. On the Netflix you pay *monthly* for? If you buy a DVD, CD or book one time, you own it for as long as you want, no monthly fee, no unskippable ads after listening to TWO SONGS ON YOUR SPOTIFY PLAYLIST, and you can enjoy it as many times as you want! The power is quite literally in your hands.
2) Burning CDs. Upset your favourite artist doesn't release their music in physical form but you want to listen anyway? Fear not my friend, I have just the solution- piracy! (Joking, it's only piracy if you sell burned CDs - as long as you aren't making a profit, it's perfectly legal). I won't go into detail on how to do it right now because I will yap for days but it's easy enough if you have a disc drive, blank cds and some time to kill.
3) Get yourself a library card. I'm serious. "But Mars", I hear you cry, "I don't like to read books!" Well, my dear, do I have news for you. Libraries can also rent out movies, video games, CDs (including CD audio books) cooking/sewing supplies, and host social clubs to get you out and about and talking to people (obviously depending on the library you go to, but those are the ones I've seen). Plus, it's not just fiction books they have there, you can find a book for pretty much any skill you want to learn and any interest you may have.
4) Thrifting. You've probably heard this point a million times, but I'm going to say it again: cheap clothes, eco friendly shopping practices, and you literally never know what you'll find.
5) Delete apps that bring stress. Im talking Duolingo (fuck that stupid green bird and its AI "employees"), Snapchat (snapstreaks are the bane of my existence istg), anything that makes you feel tethered to your phone. If it's not productive or it doesn't bring you joy, then axe it.
6) make friends with old people. I mean like elderly people. That will automatically bring your life more whimsy because they have such amazing stories about their lives, and people usually ignore them or overlook them unfairly. This also ties in to getting involved in your community and just generally knowing people, recognising faces, building a connection to the place you live.
7) grow flowers. Flowers bring joy, it doesn't get simpler than that. I recommend lavender because it smells amazing, encourages sleep and is pretty resistant to any and all attempts of killing it.
8) Be unapologetically cringe. You like cartoons? Good. You write/read fanfiction? At least you're reading or developing skills. You draw fanart? You're stretching creative muscles in your brain. Like what you like and don't feel the need to repress it just because some people are too afraid to express themselves. It's not your fault they're insecure.
So yeah that was my ramble of things to do to make your life a little less dull and repetitive. Bring some whimsy to the world. Dress how you want girl you only live once and that's not enough times to give a fuck about other peoples opinions.
Bye for now!
#digital diary#marzy starrzy#alternative#be yourself#bbg dont let people judge you#youre cool#10x cooler than haters thats for sure#haters#gonna hate hate hate hate hate#be cringe be free#i dont care what you do in your spare time#if youre chill then youre cool#whimsy#maybe i only found this funny because my sleep schedule is practically non existent#im funny laugh

Apple has been fined €1.8bn (£1.5bn) by the EU for breaking competition laws over music streaming.
The firm had prevented streaming services from informing users of payment options outside the Apple app store, the European Commission said.
Competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said Apple abused its dominant position in the market for a decade.
She ordered the US tech giant to remove all the restrictions. Apple has said it will appeal against the decision.
The European Commission's decision was triggered by a complaint by Swedish music streaming service Spotify, which was unhappy about the restriction and Apple's 30% fee..
Ms Vestager said Apple had restricted "developers from informing consumers about alternative, cheaper music services available outside of the Apple ecosystem".
"This is illegal under EU antitrust rules," she said.
However, Apple said it would appeal, adding there was no evidence consumers had been harmed.
"The decision was reached despite the Commission's failure to uncover any credible evidence of consumer harm, and ignores the realities of a market that is thriving, competitive, and growing fast," the company said in a statement.
"The primary advocate for this decision, and the biggest beneficiary, is Spotify, a company based in Stockholm, Sweden.
"Spotify has the largest music streaming app in the world, and has met with the EC [European Commission] more than 65 times during this investigation," it said.
Spotify attacks Apple's 'outrageous' 27% commission
Spotify called the fine handed out to Apple "an important moment" and said it sent "a powerful message" that "no company, not even a monopoly like Apple, can wield power abusively to control how other companies interact with their customers".
Apple said the Swedish company pays no commission to them as it sells its subscriptions on its website and not on the app store.
Spotify had argued that the restrictions benefit Apple's rival music streaming service, Apple Music.
Digital Markets Act
In January, Apple announced plans to allow EU customers to download apps outside of their own app store, as the introduction of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) drew closer.
The aim of the European Union's DMA is to help competition in the technology sector and to try to break down the stronghold the likes of Apple and Google have on the market.
The tech companies were given six months from August last year to comply with a full list of requirements under the new legislation, or face a fine of up to 10% of their annual turnover.
The firms have until later this week to comply with a raft of changes announced since the start of the year, as Apple, Meta and TikTok pursue challenges to aspects of the law.
Law professor at EDHEC, Anne Witt, told the BBC the DMA will have a "significant impact" on the way designated platforms operate within the EU.
"It is a more effective but also much blunter legal tool in the fight against market concentration in the digital economy," she said.
Last week, Spotify and 33 other companies operating across a wide range of digital sectors wrote to the European Commission with a renewed attack on Apple's "lack of compliance" with the DMA.
"Apple's new terms not only disregard both the spirit and letter of the law, but if left unchanged, make a mockery of the DMA and the considerable efforts by the European Commission and EU institutions to make digital markets competitive," it said.

Apple has a Spotify problem—and it just cost the iPhone maker a $2 billion fine from the European Commission.
For years, the two companies have been at war as the streaming service lured users away from Apple’s iTunes and accused the tech giant of exploiting its dominance to stifle innovation. In their long-running conflict, each has made incursions into the other’s territory. When Apple launched its own streaming service, Apple Music, in 2015, Spotify claimed Apple was able to undercut the platform’s prices because Apple didn’t have to pay the same App Store fees as rivals. In 2019, Spotify began an ambitious podcast spending spree, splashing out on high-profile shows, in another direct challenge to Apple.
The feud’s early days were civil, with few barbs traded in public. “We worry about the humanity being drained out of music,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook in 2018, a cryptic comment widely interpreted as a jibe at Spotify’s heavy use of algorithmic recommendations. But Spotify became more outspoken as EU politicians started to call for laws to reign in Big Tech. The €1.8 billion ($1.9 billion) fine on Apple announced by the European Commission today shows that its tactics are working. The fine originates in a legal complaint filed with the European Commission by Spotify in 2019, challenging the restrictions and fees Apple places on developers listing their apps in the App Store. Today the European Commission agreed, saying that Apple’s App Store restrictions amount to unfair trading conditions that may have led iOS users to pay significantly higher prices for music streaming subscriptions.
“For a decade, Apple abused its dominant position in the market for the distribution of music streaming apps through the App Store,” said Margrethe Vestager, the EU’s competition chief, in a statement. “They did so by restricting developers from informing consumers about alternative, cheaper music services available outside of the Apple ecosystem.”
Apple’s App Store rules restrict music streaming companies and other apps from informing their users on Apple devices about how to upgrade or sign up for subscription offers outside of the app. Instead, app users can only see sign-up options for in-app subscriptions via Apple’s payments system, where prices are likely to be higher because Apple takes a cut. Some app makers, including Spotify, do not offer in-app purchases because they don’t want to pay this commission. "Some consumers may have paid more because they were unaware they could pay less if they subscribed outside the app,” Vestager said. “This is illegal under EU antitrust rules.” Apple, which says the EU has failed to provide credible evidence of consumer harm, has pledged to appeal.
Big Number
The fine is far bigger than expected, prompting Apple’s stock to drop 3 percent on Monday. Media reports based on unnamed sources had predicted a penalty of around €500 million. It’s also one of the biggest fines the EU has ever issued against a tech company, ranking below only two Google fines of $5.1 billion and $2.4 billion. Vestager explained in a press conference that the scale of the fine is intended to prevent the company from breaking rules in the future. She added that the amount includes a “lump sum” to “achieve deterrence.” $1.9 billion amounts to 0.5 percent of Apple’s global turnover, she said.
Although Spotify CEO Daniel Ek has expressed disapproval of Apple’s business tactics, he’s also something of a reluctant figurehead in Europe’s fight against Apple. The self-described introvert has adopted the role of spokesperson for disgruntled European app developers who finally feel their complaints about Big Tech are being heard.
On Monday, Ek posted a video on X in which he described Apple as a threat to the open internet. “Apple has decided that they want to close down the internet and make it theirs, and they view every single person using an iPhone to be their user and that they should be able to dictate what that user experience should be,” he said. Ek also claimed Apple wants to effectively levy a tax on Spotify while exempting its own music service, Apple Music.
Apple hit back at Spotify in a statement posted to its website. The company pushed back on the idea that Spotify had suffered as a result of its policies, instead describing the platform as an App Store success story, pointing out that Spotify’s app has been downloaded, redownloaded, or updated more than 119 billion times onto Apple phones.
“We’ve even flown our engineers to Stockholm to help Spotify’s teams in person,” Apple’s statement said. For all that, Apple says, Spotify pays them nothing. “But free isn’t enough for Spotify,” the statement continues. “They also want to rewrite the rules of the App Store—in a way that advantages them even more.”
Spotify is one of the few European consumer tech companies with a significant global business, so people in the continent’s tech community listen when it speaks out. Spotify’s latest criticisms are spurring more European developers to complain about what they consider to be unfair treatment by the tech giant—putting the European Commission under even more pressure to act. “Apple holds app providers ransom like the Mafia,” Matthias Pfau, CEO and cofounder of Tuta, an encrypted email provider based in Germany, told WIRED last month, echoing frustrations also voiced by US app developers such as Epic Games.
For Apple, Spotify’s success today is potentially an omen of future action from the EU. This week marks the deadline for compliance with Europe’s Digital Markets Act, a new antitrust law designed to prevent the internet from coming under the control of only a handful of big—usually American—platforms. The new law gives Europe the power to fine tech companies up to 20 percent of their global turnover, meaning future fines could make dwarf $2 billion levied on Apple today.
“This is the commission saying, ‘We're going to be tough, particularly on Apple,’” says Max von Thun, Europe director of the Open Markets Institute, of the decision today. “I see this as kind of small compared to what's to come.”
