Duane Byrge and Mike Barnes at THR:
Bill Moyers, the onetime White House Press Secretary and newspaper publisher who spent four decades as a respected broadcast journalist and documentarian for PBS and CBS, died Thursday. He was 91.  Moyers died at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York after a long illness, his son William told the Associated Press. Moyers hosted, wrote for and/or produced PBS programs like Bill Moyers’ Journal, Moyers & Company, A World of Ideas, Frontline, Now With Bill Moyers, Creativity With Bill Moyers and A Walk Through the 20th Century in stretches from 1971 through 2010, winning two Peabody Awards, three Humanitas Prizes and four Primetime Emmys along the way.
[...] In 1976, Moyers exited PBS to become editor and chief correspondent for CBS Reports. He also did On the Road mini-documentaries as well as analysis and commentary for the CBS Evening News With Dan Rather starting in 1981, drawing a salary of $1 million a year. In a bitter split, Moyers exited CBS in 1986 — he said the line between entertainment and news at the network had “steadily blurred” — and formed his own company, Public Affairs Television, to distribute his programs. Transcribed versions were published as books, including Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth, which remained on the Times‘ best-seller list for more than a year.
[...] After Johnson’s landslide triumph, Moyers served as White House Press Secretary from 1965-67 — a media darling, he was on the covers of Time and Newsweek during his first year on the job — before resigning to become publisher of Newsday in 1967. [...] He then traveled around the country for Harper’s magazine for four months in a “swing of rediscovery,” from which he wrote 1971’s Listening to America, which became a best-seller. From that, New York public TV station WNET hired him to host a weekly half-hour that would become Bill Moyers’ Journal. The program included the first major interview with Jimmy Carter before he was known outside of Plains, Georgia, as well as an acclaimed “Essay on Watergate” in 1973. [...] He also worked for NBC and MSNBC in the mid-1990s.
Longtime PBS fixture and liberal Bill Moyers died at 91. He also had a stint at CBS for about 10 years from 1976-1986, and was employed by NBC and MSNBC in the mid-1990s.

I wonder what percentage of viewership news channels get from people who aren’t really watching and have news in the background like my parents put on CNN all the time even though they aren’t watching 99 percent of the time
Do you guys or your parents do this?
I am actually really curious about this so please reblog it

In the continuing quest for authoritarian rule Trump has called for revoking the licenses of ABC, because they fact checked him at the debate. He’s said he would revoke both NBC and MSNBC’s licenses as well. He’s hurled threats at The NY Times grumbling about what he’ll do to them if elected. Same with the Washington Post. He’s called for CBS to lose their license and just yesterday filed a lawsuit against them for $10 billion (which is frivolous intimidation suit and will not amount to anything but a sanction against Trump & his lawyers) because 60 mins edited the Harris interview to fit the allotted time frame.
Does anyone notice who’s not on that list? His propaganda machines in OAN, NewsMax and the trusty wing of his campaign, Fox News.
Friends! This is how democracy dies. When tyrants silence any opposition to them. Where truth is whatever the great leader says it is. Where state sponsored press is the only information available.
This is how it is in Russia, North Korea, Iran and Saudi Arabia. This is what America has in store with a Trump reelection.
In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, retired Admiral William McRaven, former commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, the man who directed the assault which killed Osama Bin Laden in 2011 said when talking about shortcomings and “foibles” other presidents possessed, “none of them violated every principle of good leadership like Donald Trump does. Mr. Trump has no self control, lashes out at immigrants, religious groups, military heroes. He lies with recklessness abandon.” Adm. McRaven continued “These are the things a disturbed 15 year old boy would do, not the Commander in Chief, who holds the nuclear codes. Not the leader of the free world.”
What is this? The tenth? Twentieth high ranking military official who has warned of the consequences of Trump and another Trump presidency?
It’s time to ask yourself. Do I want this guy dictating my future? Do I want to leave it to chance and not vote? Am I prepared to raise a family under totalitarian rule?
We have the power to decide these things. We just have to make our decision clear, and vote for Kamala Harris.

🕊️ 06/21/2025 – USA Strikes Iran Sites
Spirit Has a Message for the People Worldwide
By: K.D. (Kai Degnan – Seer)
As a Seer, I feel the collective fear, uncertainty, and sorrow that has begun to ripple through the world. Tonight’s strike on Iran by the United States marks more than just a military action—it is a spiritual fracture, one that may change the path ahead for all of us.
But don’t be afraid. Spirit has a message for you.
⚖️ Why This Happened
This strike was not justice—it was retaliation. Spirit reveals this act came from a place of ego and vengeance, a continuation of the unfinished cycle from Trump’s last presidency, when he ordered the assassination of a high-ranking Iranian official. Since then, Iran has allegedly attempted to retaliate—twice.
But instead of pursuing diplomacy or healing the rift, Trump chose violence again.
Spirit tells me this was a breaking point, not a triumph. The news may celebrate it, but what was won? All we gained was fear, grief, and rising division. Lives were lost—souls who didn’t need to die.
💔 A Broken Path of Leadership
Trump was warned by Spirit. Many times. He did not listen. He acted without remorse, blinded by control and the illusion of strength.
Our global allies now distrust us, refusing to follow a leader who acts without empathy or foresight. Spirit says this is the result of tainted leadership—a false crown worn by a man hungry for power, not truth.
Meanwhile, ICE raids continue within our borders, ripping families apart while children cry for their parents, unsure of where they’ve gone or why.
This is not order. This is chaos disguised as strength.
🌪️ Spirit’s Warning—and Hope
This is not 9/11, but the air is heavy with memory. And while fear rises, Spirit tells me clearly:
“Do not be afraid. The storm is here, but storms cleanse. What is false will fall. What is true will rise.”
Blood should never be the cost of change—but when corruption runs deep, Spirit purges the rot.
This storm will bring loss. It may bring war. But it will also awaken many. Seers, truth-tellers, empaths, warriors of all spiritual paths—now is your time. You are being activated. Your gifts are needed.
🌍 A Global Call to All Seers
To those of you hearing this and feeling the pull in your soul, you are not alone. Whether you walk as a Christian Seer, a Norse Volva, a mystic, a prophet, or something unnamed—the Source has called you.
We must rise, not in violence, but in truth, unity, and fearless compassion.
Pray in your own way. Speak your truth. Ground yourself and help others do the same. This storm is not the end—it is the beginning of the real change we’ve waited for.
🔥 To the World: Stand Strong, Be Ready
Trump will fall. Not by threat, but by truth. The mask will crack, and the false power will be stripped away. That is Spirit’s promise. Not vengeance—reckoning.
Let this be the moment where we rise, not cower. Where we speak, not hide. Where we unify, not divide.
"If this message awakens something in you—follow it. You were born for this time."
Together, we can guide this world through the storm into something better. The time is now.
—Kai Degnan Seer. Truth-bringer. One of many.

Marita Vlachou at The Guardian:
Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, on Wednesday announced the spinoff of many of its cable TV channels, including MSNBC, carrying out a plan the company had hinted at earlier this year. In addition to MSNBC, the portfolio of the newly created company titled “SpinCo” will also comprise CNBC, USA, Oxygen and E!, among other channels, as well as digital assets, including Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes. Those assets made about $7 billion in revenue in the year that ended Sept. 30, the company said in a press release.
Bravo, the NBC broadcast network, the Peacock streaming service, Telemundo as well as the theme parks business and film and television studios will remain part of Comcast. The Wall Street Journal was first to report the transaction was imminent. Mike Cavanagh, the president of Comcast, said the move will enable “both SpinCo and NBCUniversal to play offense in a changing media landscape.” “Taken together, the entirety of NBCUniversal will be on a new growth trajectory, fueled by our world-class content, technology, IP, properties and talent — all working in concert with each other as an integrated media company,” Cavanagh said. Mark Lazarus, the outgoing chair of the NBCUniversal Media Group, will serve as chief executive of the new company. The process is expected to be completed in about a year, the Journal reported earlier.
Comcast spins off nearly all of NBCU’s cable networks, including USA, CNBC, MSNBC, and E!, into a separate spin-off company named SpinCo. NBCUniversal will retain NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, and Peacock as its key assets.
Splitting off CNBC and MSNBC, and possibly USA, from NBCU, is a disastrous decision, mainly due to newsgathering resources being shared (MSNBC and CNBC) and sports coverage (primarily USA, but also some CNBC).

Election season, mainstream media assignment: Interviews with undecided voters
Reporter: So today we’re looking for an undecided voter. Here's one now, coming out of that Make America Great Again rally. And oh look, he’s even wearing a red MAGA hat, and he’s also wearing a “Trump won” lapel pin on his “Trump 2024” t-shirt. And that handsome tattoo of Donald Trump on his forehead is hardly even noticeable, just like that stylish AR-15 he’s brandishing.
Excuse me, sir. If I can just interrupt you passing out these “Release the J6 hostages” fliers for a moment, I’d like to ask you some questions that you can easily spin to heap praise on the Republican presidential candidate. Obviously you haven't made up your mind about who you’ll be voting for in the upcoming 2024 election, but please allow me to give you 15 minutes on national television to share your completely unbiased political narrative, which we will then run on continuous loop for weeks until we can find another impartial independent undecided voter.
Stay tuned for more fair and balanced reporting. Up next is our political analysis with Ronna McDaniel and a heartwarming story about how Donald Trump won, and how wokeness is racism against white people. Ronna?
