A/N: Thanks for reading! Loosely based on NCIS S3 E 23/24 the hiatus,
“(Y/N)”
You turned at the sound of your name and smiled as you saw your dad approach with Fornell in tow. You abandoned your new team mates, who watched with curiosity, and met him in a hug. “What are you doing here?”
“We had other business to discuss and I mentioned you and your team were here.” Fornell chuckled. “You know he can’t resist seeing you.”
“Please you’re the same way with Emily.” your smile never faded.
“Plus he wants to scope them out ya know how dads are.” Fornell smirked as Gibbs rolled his eyes.
“Well come on then. I’ll introduce you.” you hooked your arm through your dads and led him over to the team.
“Special Agent Gibbs, this is my team Dr. Spencer Reid, Derek Morgan, David Rossi, Jennifer Jareau, and Emily Prentiss. Penelope Garcia is our tech analyst who isn’t in the group right here. Nor is our team leader Agent Hotchner.” He gives a slight nod as you introduce everyone, obviously sizing them up a bit.
“Guys this is Special Agent Gibbs, NCIS.”
“Gibbs?” Morgan questions, looking between the two of you.
“My father.” you smiled, glancing over at him catching the small smile that graced his face before it disappeared.
Hotch emerged from his office and appeared at the top of the steps, looking down watching. Rossi spotted him and waved him down, “Come meet Agent Gibbs”
Confusion crosses his face as he comes down the steps, “I’ve already met her, she's on the team.”
“Not me Hotch.” you smiled and rolled your eyes.
His attention shifted to Gibbs “Special Agent Aaron Hotchner.” he introduced himself.
“Special Agent Gibbs” he shook his hand in a firm grasp.
You shook your head slightly as they sized each other up. You understood he just wanted to make sure you were safe, but sometimes it was ridiculous. Their weird spell was broken when a cell rang, Gibbs unclipped it from his belt and answered “Gibbs.”
He took a few steps away to listen to his call. When he was finished you approached him to say goodbye knowing he had to go. After your goodbyes you headed back over to the team.
“What?” you asked, feeling a little weird as they stared at you.
“So that was your dad huh? Interesting guy.” Morgan says.
You shrug, “He’s my dad.” you did worry that they were profiling him but you didn’t dwell on it as Hotch beckoned everyone to the conference room. Time for another case.
***
“What the hell was that?!” Hotch shouted at you.
“What do you mean what was that? It’s my fucking job!” you seethed. Who the hell did he think he was? You did your job, you weren’t out of line.
“You could have been hurt, or worse.”
“So could anybody! Rossi, Derek, you! Any of us could!” you crossed your arms.
“You’re different.”
“How the fuck am I different?”
“You’re young, you haven’t been doing this as long.”
“Are you kidding me? I’ve been doing this since I was eighteen.”
“Under your father, sure.”
Your jaw dropped, “Your excuse is that I’m inexperienced because my dad taught me? My father is one of the best damn agents there is and I will not stand here and take this.” you stormed off.
***
You clenched your jaw but kept quiet. The plane ride was tense and you felt a little bad for the others that they couldn’t relax a little because Hotch was mad at you, again. It wasn’t as if you tried to get in trouble, it was just something about him treating you differently than the rest of them that pissed you off. Sure you were the youngest but that didn’t mean you weren’t capable. Hell you’d been doing this for years. This work was in your blood, who you were.
Protecting people was your job, even if it meant you were in harms way. Standing in front of that kid today was no different. The unsub had been waving a gun around and the kid would have been in the crossfire if you hadn’t stepped in.
By the time the plane landed you’d finished your reports and dropped them in front of Hotch as you deboarded faster than the rest of them. You were half way across the tarmac by the time they got off.
“Who the hell is that?” Morgan asks as you run up to a man in a red sports car.
“Does she have a boyfriend?” JJ asked.
“She’s never mentioned one. Can anybody see him clearly? Maybe it’s just her dad. We don’t know what kind of car he drives.” Emily suggests. “I think his name is Tony.” Spencer joins them on the ground.
“Slow down, pretty boy. How do you know that?” Morgan looks at him.
“I caught a glimpse of her cell phone screen when she was texting.” he shrugs as they watch you get in the car and the two of you take off.
***
When you walked in Monday morning you headed straight for Hotch’s office. Might as well get the yelling over with. You were feeling a little better after spending the weekend with your dad and friends. Ziva and you did a little sparring to help you work out some of your aggression. You flex your bruised and a little bit bloodied knuckles and roll your shoulder a bit where she’d gotten a good hit in. Open handed you tapped on Hotch’s door in lieu of knocking.
“Come in.” he said without looking up.
You walked in and shut the door, which made him look up. He regarded you as you crossed your arms waiting for him to start.
Instead of yelling he said, “You’re hurt.”
“Oh this is nothing. Just did some sparring over the weekend.” you shrug off his comment. You’d had worse which actually caused permanent bone pain.
He looked pointedly at your bruised knuckles, “Since when does sparring do that?”
“When you spar with a former Mossad officer. She is ruthless.” you chuckle softly.
“Was there something you needed?”
“Uh.. You’re not gonna yell at me? You were pretty pissed earlier.” you were confused. You had expected to be yelled at not this.
“No. Anything else?”
“Uh… I guess not.”
He nodded and went back to his work effectively dismissing you. You left his office confused, not that you minded not being yelled at. In fact it was nice not to be, but you were confused why he had a change of heart. It crossed your mind that one of the others might have said something to him. You were with them all weekend you didn’t see how they could have.
“Yo (Y/N). You ok?” Morgan asked, walking up beside you.
“Huh? Oh. Yeah I’m fine.” you answered distractedly.
“Yeah cuz you sound fine. What’s up?” he slung his arm over your shoulder.
“It’s nothing, don’t worry about it. But thank you for your concern, that's sweet.”
“Ok, I’ll drop it if you answer a question for me.” he grins.
“You want to know who picked me up?” you guessed.
“Exactly. So who is he?”
“Tonys a friend, he works with my dad.”
“Just a friend huh?” he raised a brow at you.
“Yes.” you roll your eyes and nudge him, “He’s like my big brother. You tryin’ suss out if I’m dating anyone? Because the answer is no.”
He didn’t get to say anything else as JJ came over.
“Conference room in five.” she said as she passed.
“Ya heard the lady.” you chuckled and ducked from under his arm and headed that direction.
After the case debrief, everyone scattered to gather their things to meet on the plane. You were the last one out as you slipped your phone from your pocket and sent a group text to Tony, Ziva, Mcgee and you included Abby. Although you were sure it wasn’t her she would get a kick out of this.
*Alright, which one of you did it? Fess up.* you sent the text and grabbed your bag after making it back to your desk. Their responses rolled in quickly.
*Ooh you’re in trouble* you chuckled to yourself at Abby.
Ziva: *I don’t know what you’re referring to.*
Tony : *Did what? Whatever it was I plead the fifth*
You: *Who got to my boss? He didn't yell at me today.*
Ziva: *Is that not a good thing? I am confused. You were just complaining about him yelling at you.*
Abby: *gasp* (Y/N) are you disappointed he didn’t yell at you?
Tony: *Do you like him???*
You: Shut up Tony.
Abby: *YOU DO!!!! That’s so cute!!!!
You: YOU’RE MISSIN’ THE POINT!
You: *Who did it???*
Tim: *I did. I texted him a video from your phone of you sparring with Ziva, with a caption about you being upset about being treated differently. I then deleted the evidence.
Tony: *Go probie! I didn’t know you had it in you.*
You: *Awww Tim. <3 Thank you, that was sweet.*
Tony *Hold up! That’s it? You’re not gonna call him out?*
You: *No, it was sweet.*
Tony: *Sweet?! You’d kick my ass if I talked to him. Hell you’d try to kick Ziva's ass too.*
Ziva: *She would not get far.*
Tim: *I thought she was doing pretty well the other night.*
Ziva: *I was going easy. Gibbs was not too happy with the small bruising she acquired from that.*
Abby: *That’s his baby. Of course he’s unhappy when she’s hurt.*
You: *Guys you realize I’m still here right?*
Tony: *Back to my point. What the hell (Y/N).*
You: *It’s sweet coming from Tim. He isn’t as gung ho to fuck somebody up over my feelings being hurt as the two of you are. I love that about you but sometimes you gotta just let me bitch.*
“What’s got you smiling like that?” Morgan slid up next to you.
“Geez fuck!” you jumped and slid your phone in your pocket. You’d been so absorbed in your text conversation you hadn’t heard him approach.
He laughed and you shoved him playfully.
“Didn’t your mama teach you not to sneak up on a lady?”
“I don’t see Garcia anywhere.” he shoots you a shit eating grin.
“Derek, you are a little brat.” you admonish, but grin back anyway.
***
When you arrived at Rossis, you were surprised to see that Hotch and Jack were the only ones there.
“Am I early? Didn’t you say six?” you asked Rossi as he invited you in.
“I did. You know how everybody is. Fashionably late.”
“I suppose that’s true.” you chuckled softly.
“You alright?” he took notice of your arm in a sling. It wasn’t there yesterday after you closed the latest case.
“Yeah. Just an old injury acting up. Keeping it immobilized helps.”
He nods, “Well make yourself at home. We’ll be in full swing before you know it.”
You smiled and made your way in taking a seat near Jack who was coloring.
“Hi Miss (Y/N).” Jack smiles at you.
“Hey Jack. Whatcha colorin’?”
“Tow Mater.” He shows you his coloring book.
“Wow. He looks really good buddy.” you smiled softly.
“Thanks! Do you wanna color too?”
“Sure. I’d be happy too.” you adjusted the sling a bit before sliding down next to him on the floor.
Hotch found himself smiling as he watched you color with Jack. You were very attentive to him, even after everyone else arrived.
“You’re really good with him. Thank you.” Hotch slides next to you on the couch.
“He’s a good kid. You’ve done well Hotch.”
“I can’t take all the credit, Hailey did most of the work.”
“You both did great. He seems well adjusted for losing a parent so young. It’s hard.” you watched Jack giggle at some magic trick Spencer was showing him.
“How old were you?” Hotch glanced your way.
“I was seven.” you rubbed your arm. The accident had robbed you of your mother and twin sister and left you hospitalized for months.
He squeezed your shoulder gently, “I’m sorry.”
You give him a small smile and pat his hand gently, “I’m sorry too. Losing your spouse is incredibly difficult. I’ve watched my dad all these years.”
***
You excused yourself when your phone rang and stepped into an empty office to take the call.
“(Y/N)” Tony's voice was grave over the phone, cluing you into trouble.
“What’s happened? Who's hurt?” you gripped the edge of the desk with your free hand.
“There was a bomb your dad…” he started
You didn’t hear anything else as you felt your knees give out and you sunk to the floor. “No! No. no no.” you chanted as you struggled to breathe, to focus.
The door flung open as Hotch and the others filed in. They had seen you go down, their concerned faces went unnoticed by you.
“Is he alive?” you gripped the phone so hard you thought it’d break.
“Yes...” Tony’s voice faded away as Hotch pried your phone from you to get details. He was alive, the relief swept through you. Whatever else you could deal with as long as he was alive.
Your brain was in overdrive as you scrambled to your feet, “I’m sorry, I have to go. I have to go.”
“(Y/N).” Hotch said, making you look at him. “You’re in no shape to drive. I’ll take you.”
“I.. ok.” you nodded. He was right, it was a bad idea for you to drive yourself.
The ride to the hospital was a blur as you stared out the window trying to compose yourself. Hotch didn’t say anything as he drove, just kept glancing over as he watched the tears slip down your face in silence.
“(Y/N)!” Abby cried out as she saw you approach.
“Abby” you hug her. “How is he?”
“He’s in a coma.” Abby gives you the grim news.
***
You hadn’t left the hospital since you got there, and by extension neither had Hotch. You spent most of your time in a chair by his bedside, holding his hand and staring blankly between bouts of tears. It had been three days and you were getting worried he wasn’t going to come out of it.
You wondered how your feelings had been compared to what he had gone through after coming home to find his wife and one daughter were murdered and his youngest in a medically induced coma to heal from the wreck. If his feelings were half as intense as yours, you didn’t understand why he hadn’t lost his mind. In comparison he hadn’t been in the coma that long, yet you were losing your mind.
Tony stopped by briefly to check on you and bring you a bag. He knew better than to try to get you to leave.
“She likes big comfy clothes when she's in distress. Also she bites her lower lip, so watch out for that. She hasn’t done it in a while but I suspect she might start. It’s almost as if it's an unconscious act. She’ll do it until she bleeds so stop her if you catch it.” he said casually as he stood next to Hotch as they watched from outside as you sat in a chair beside Gibbs bed. The large oversized hoodie Tony brought already on you, like a security blanket.
“Why are you telling me this?” Hotch glanced at him.
“While I may be the joker of the group, I’m not stupid. You care about her.” Tony doesn’t look at him.
“She’s a part of my team of course I do.”
Tony shakes his head, “We both know it's more than that. As her friend I’m speaking for all of us, hurt her we’ll hurt you. She’s been through enough already.”
Hotch can’t help the small smile. He was glad you had such caring friends.
Tony stepped away to tell you goodbye before returning to work, they still had a case to solve. Hotch watched as you hugged him and pondered his exchange with Tony.
Director Sheppard had arrived again and you let her have the room. You were currently on the bench outside of the hospital room, head in Aarons lap and asleep as he stroked your hair. He was quietly talking to Dave who had stopped by to check in. The team had started coming in shifts to help relieve him. He had gone home for a little bit to shower, check on Jack and catch a few hours of sleep.
A flurry of activity going into Gibbs room stopped the conversation. Hotch turned as much as he could without waking you to stare into the room to see what was going on. He couldn’t see much with the doctors in the way but he could see the Director's face in relief. Gibbs must have woken up.
Aaron was reluctant to wake you, as you hadn’t been asleep that long. He knew he needed to but he was determined to give you a few extra minutes or at least until the doctors were through. When they looked to be about done he gently began to rub your back, “(Y/N). Time to get up.”
It didn’t take him as long as he expected to rouse you and you sat up. You rubbed your hands over your face to wipe away the sleep and looked around. “What’s going on?”
“Miss Gibbs?” the doctor stepped out before Aaron could answer you.
“Special Agent Gibbs.” He corrected the doctor for you.
The doctor took it in stride “Your father is awake.”
You jumped up, “Can I see him? How is he?”
“You can see him but I have to warn you, he has amnesia. He doesn't remember anything from the last fifteen years.”
“Oh no,” You whispered as you wavered on your feet a bit. Hotch stood wrapping an arm around you to keep you steady.
The doctor gives you a sympathetic look, “Try not push him to remember. We want him to try to do that on his own.”
“Ok.” you nod and turn to look at the director and dad through the window.
“You don’t have to go in until you're ready, kid.” Rossi gave your shoulder a squeeze.
“Thanks Rossi, but it’s not gonna hurt any less, might as well get it over with.” you gave him a small, unconvincing smile. Hotch dropped his arm allowing you to move freely as you walked to the door.
You walk through the door and both turn to look at you.
“Shannon?” he had so much hope in his voice, it hurt.
The dam breaks and the water works start at him calling you your mother. “No daddy it’s me (Y/N).”
“You didn’t…” he trails off as he looks at you.
“No. I survived.” you knew what he was trying to say. You made your way over and sat in the chair beside his bed.
His calloused hand cupped your cheek as he wiped your tears away. Not that that did any good against the steady stream.
“You look so much like your mother.”
You let out a half laugh half sob, his pain was probably fresh. In his mind it was fifteen years ago. You had been too young to know the details of when and where he was told. He never talked about it, even after you’d gotten older. He had been deployed when it had occurred, that much you knew.
“They weren’t sure you were going to make it.”
You met his eyes, surprised he would even talk about it. You weren’t sure how much he remembered yet. Staying silent you let him continue.
“You died twice. At least that’s what they told me when I was able to come home and see you.”
“I don’t remember much, but I only thought it was once.” you remembered very little about the crash. It was always flashes of memories, you did however vividly remember dying.
“What do you mean?” he looked at you questioningly.
“I only remember dying once. It was cold and dark and I was scared, but then mom and Kelly were there. Mom..” you cleared the lump in your throat. “Mom said I had to go back. We couldn’t leave you all by yourself. She said I was the strong one, I’d made it this far. Kelly hugged me and said to tell you she loved you and that they were gonna be waiting for us.”
He was staring at you and something flashed in his eyes as he remembered more. “You never told me that.”
“What was an eight year old me gonna say? You’d just lost your wife and daughter. I lost my mother and twin sister. Really I was too traumatized to do much other than work on healing.” you sniffled.
He didn’t say anything and scooted over to make room on the tiny hospital bed, before patting beside him. You were careful as you climbed up next to him, you didn't want to hurt him more. He pulled you into his side and kissed your head.
***
You’d taken two weeks off work to help your dad out. During that time you and Hotch texted everyday even if it was just a check in text. You loved your dad but he was stubborn and you vented to Hotch about it.
You: Am I this bad?
Hotch: What happened now?
You: He’s not resting. I threatened to tie him to the couch unless he took it easy. I’m glad Jenny made him take a little vacay but dude chill!
Hotch: Yes, you have a tendency to be just as stubborn. Like father like daughter I suppose.
You: I deserve that. 🤪
Hotch: It’s not always a bad thing.
You: You wouldn’t say that if you had to deal with me 24-7.
“(Y/N) Door.” your dad yelled from the kitchen.
“I’ve got it!”
You: BRB dad needs me.
You jogged downstairs and answered the door, surprised to see Hotch standing on the other side of it.
“Hotch? What are you doing here?”
“Coming to see you. Got a minute?”
You glanced back in the house, “Yeah sure. Dad, I'm stepping outside!” you shouted and stepped onto the porch. “So what brings you over?”
Hotch shifted on his feet seeming almost nervous.
“Hey whatever it is you can tell me.” you said softly.
“I feel like a teenager asking out his crush.” he chuckled, “Which is in essence what I’m doing. Would you like to go on a date with me?”
You smiled, “I’d like that.”
“Great, maybe now you can keep her off my ass about stuff.” Gibbs huffed appearing in the doorway.
“Dad!”
“I’ll try” Aaron laughed.

Beginning: an NCIS-Criminal Minds crossover oneshot
Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo entered the apartment silently closing the door behind him and locking it. He dropped his wallet, keys, and creds on the table in the hallway and moved noiselessly toward the living room where he could safely deposit his SIG Sauer and backup gun inside the gun safe on a bookshelf near the entrance. The apartment was dark, no other lights on except the floor lamp in the hallway. Not that he needed the light. He knew this apartment like the back of his hand. Almost as good as he knew his own.
His weapons safely stored, Tony made his way toward the bedroom, gently easing the door open and took in the site of the woman laying asleep in her bed. Her blonde hair was up in a messy bun and she was wearing her normal sleep clothes. Her face was smoothed out, no lines of stress on her face from the difficulties of her job. Not that the woman wasn’t passionate about her job, it was just that lately it had been tiring her out. She didn’t think he noticed, what with all the hours and high priority cases that had come in in the last month for his team. But he did.
Of course, he did - what kind of investigator would he be if he didn’t notice that his own girlfriend was exhausted and in need of a vacation to get her back on center. Their jobs though... well, they didn’t get a chance to use much of the vacation time that they had racked up - despite their respective HR departments calling them in or sending email reminders to use the days accrued for overtime alone. The federal agent mentally snorted. HR would prefer that they took time off rather than be paid for the time they put in for overtime. Tony pushed off the door frame he was leaning against and made his way over to the en-suite bathroom and quickly took care of business, washed his hands, brushed his teeth, and stripped down to his boxers before sliding into bed and pulling the covers around both himself and the blonde woman.
He slid an arm around her waist and moved closer to her, eyes sliding shut before freezing from the tension he felt thrumming through his girlfriend’s body.
“JJ?” Tony whispered silently in question at the back of the communication liaison’s head, he waited a few beats before the woman turned around to face him.
Jennifer “JJ” Jareau had long since been awake. She got home early for once - though she had suspected Hotch had let them off early because he had seen how worn out she had been. It probably didn’t help that she had snapped at Garcia of all people. She felt bad and had immediately apologized but it still hadn’t saved her from Morgan’s accusing glare after it had happened.
JJ had left work immediately but instead of going home she had driven around for an hour. She knew she was unusually exhausted these last few weeks and she had a good theory on why that was. If it was just the exhaustion then she would have blamed the job. But no, after the fifth morning in a row of waking up in a rush to the bathroom where she was expelling the contents of her stomach left her with two options: either she had contracted a stomach bug, or she was pregnant. Seeing as how it had now been a week and she was still throwing up every morning and earlier today the smell of coffee had sent her running to the ladies’ room at work...
The blonde woman had finally made it home and did laundry, cleaned up, made a simple meal for dinner. Finally, after cleaning every square inch of her apartment, she could not ignore the small brown paper bag that was sitting on the table in the entrance hall, holding a pregnancy test that she had bought at the local pharmacy.
She had taken it, waiting the requisite five minutes for the result, and subsequently thrown it in the trash after reading the positive result. JJ had paced back and forth and around her whole apartment before heading out to the drugstore around the corner to buy another test.
That one was positive too.
The FBI agent had a million thoughts running through her head. This wasn’t something that she and Tony, her boyfriend of eight months, had really discussed. Sure, they had briefly talked about wanting kids, but they hadn’t talked about their future together.
How was Tony going to react to this?
JJ had gotten ready for bed on autopilot and had lain there for hours. It was past ten when she finally heard the key in the lock and Tony entering the apartment. She tracked his movements throughout her apartment and feigned sleep as he stood in the doorway of her bedroom before heading to the ensuite. A few minutes later, as he usually did at night, he would know that she was awake because of how stiff her body was. But she couldn’t do anything to get rid of the tension.
“JJ?”
Turning over so that she was facing her boyfriend, JJ was gazing into Tony’s worried green eyes. And she knew in that moment that despite trying to hide how tired and worn down she’d been in the past couple weeks; she had not fooled Tony nor had the increased workload stopped him from noticing her seemingly declining health.
Her brain to mouth filter failed her and she found herself blurting out her recent discovery.
“I’m pregnant!”
Tony froze as he heard JJ’s proclamation. He continued to stare at the woman who was so different than any he had dated before. If he were being completely honest with himself, he had caught himself thinking about a future with JJ, marriage and kids and maybe even a dog. He had never voiced those thoughts aloud partly because he didn’t want to jinx anything - Tony DiNozzo wasn’t someone that people stayed for, his last “serious relationship” had ended when his former fiancee left him the night before their wedding. The other part of it was the plain and simple fact that JJ was too good for him. She deserved to be with someone better than him who could treat her like a queen, but he couldn’t bring himself to be the one to leave her.
They had only been together for eight months. That wasn’t that long, but it was one of his longest relationships in years since Wendy. These past few months had been a roller coaster for them both; from his boss getting caught up in an explosion, taking over the MCRT after Gibbs left for Mexico, to JJ’s team being pulled into a quest by the “Fisher King” and SSA Elle Greenaway being attacked in her own home, Elle’s resignation, the North Mammon incident, some undercover work Director Shepard had started him on, Gibbs coming back a couple of times before taking over the MCRT again...
Tony shook his head and focused back on JJ. She was biting her lip and her big blue doe eyes were watching him with intent and worry.
“You’re... I mean... are you sure?” Tony asked rather lamely.
JJ’s brows lifted as she nodded. “I took two tests. They were both positive. I’m going to make an appointment in the morning. But...” The blonde hesitated and looked away.
“Jay?” Tony whispered as he gently grasped her chin and turned her head to face him.
JJ sighed, “I thought I was hiding how exhausted I was from you, but you knew, didn’t you?” Tony nodded, and JJ continued, “I’ve been throwing up practically every morning for the past week.” Here, JJ caught a look of surprise that briefly flashed over Tony’s face. “You didn’t know that, but I suspect that’s only because you’ve had to go into work early for the case your team is currently working. Also... I’m late... so... Definitely a good chance that I’m pregnant.”
“Good chance huh?” Tony replied, one eyebrow quirked.
JJ huffed a laugh; still not sure what Tony was going to say. Tony shook his head before letting his mouth run away from him as he was wont to do when he was nervous. “Do you want me to go with you? I mean it’s okay if you don’t. I would like to but if you don’t want me there, I guess I could just wait ‘til you get back. I always wanted to be there for the ultrasound, thought that would be cool but-”
He was abruptly cut off by JJ’s had covering his mouth.
“Uh? Jay?” Tony questioned.
“I have to make the appointment first but, you actually want to go?” JJ asked before removing her hand.
“Yeah, yeah I would like to go.” Tony answered. JJ studied him for a moment before nodding.
“I’ll try to get an appointment for this weekend. If you wrap up your case by Friday, you are off rotation this week, right?” Tony nodded his head.
“Okay,” JJ said, quiet for a moment, “and if the test and ultrasound come back positive, then what?” JJ questioned.
If the tests show we’re going to have a baby then I guess we’re going to have to figure out what we’re going to do about our living situation.” Tony blurted out.
“Our living situation?” JJ parroted back, slightly amused at Tony’s train of thought and slightly hopeful that he was saying what she thought he was saying.
“Well, we both have nice apartments, very nice apartments, though yours wasn’t the site of a bloody triple murder five years ago. But both of our apartments lack a second bedroom and well, you know, even if it did, I doubt that we’d be able to merge and blend our apartments with the sheer amount of stuff we own.” Tony got quiet at the end, hoping JJ would continue for him, that she would get it. He didn’t think he could ask her and face rejection from the mother of his child.
Though she wasn’t a profiler in title, the blonde federal agent did know a few things from having worked with the BAU for the last couple of years. She knew Tony played the part of immature frat boy but that he really was an all-in wife and kids type of guy. It certainly didn’t help that that witch Wendy had broken Tony’s heart which caused the NCIS agent to put up more walls and hide behind the frat boy persona. JJ smiled softly and cupped Tony’s cheek, “Are you saying we should find our own place? That we should move in together, raise our baby together?”
Tony studied the expressions on JJ’s face and found himself fighting back a wide small. This woman got him like no other that he’d known - let alone dated. “Yeah, yeah that’s what I’m saying.” Tony paused before continuing, “Jennifer Jareau, I’m in love with you. I know we haven’t talked in depth about marriage and kids, but I want all of that, all of that with you. Regardless of what the tests say or what happens at the appointment, I want us to move in together and start a life and family together.” Tony declared taking in a deep breath. “You know I’ve been down this road before, and it didn’t work out. Took me quite a while to see the reason for that. This time it’s different. It’s different because it’s you. You challenge me to be a better person, just being around you makes me want to do better. Will you marry me?” He just laid it all out in the open for JJ and now he was waiting to see how she was going to react. Tony was resolutely not thinking about the last time he had made himself vulnerable with a woman and how well that turned out for him.
But JJ was smiling so it couldn’t be that bad...
JJ felt the stretch of her lips as she heard all that Tony had to say.
He wanted to move in together - and not only that but he wanted for the two of them to get married! Most importantly he wanted kids! With her!
JJ leaned forward and kissed her boyfriend soundly. They broke apart minutes later to catch their breath.
“So, does this mean yes?” Tony questioned, his eyes alight with joy.
“Tony, I would loved to move in with you. More importantly, I would love to marry you and have a family with you. You are nothing like the guys I’ve dated before and I couldn’t be happier about that. I’ve never felt this way about anyone I’ve been with. You treat me like I’m the most important person in the world, like I’m precious but you don’t treat me like I’m a glass doll or someone who needs protecting - though I know you’ll be fighting right by my side against any obstacle. You make me laugh, you’re always willing to listen and offer advice or back off when I need space. I love you Tony DiNozzo.”
Tony pulled JJ close and kissed her passionately, both losing themselves in the touch of the other.
“You make me happy. I don’t know if I said that earlier, but you do. So happy.” Tony admitted, pulling her in for another kiss.
JJ laughed as Tony trailed kisses down her neck, “Is it bad to say that despite how you ended up at Quantico, I’m glad that we met?”
Tony let out a loud laugh, tucking his head into JJ’s neck and pressing a kiss there, “I guess that’s one good thing that came out of Fornell arresting me.

Have two chapters ready to post.
I’m not sure at what pace I’m going to update this series though… any suggestions? ☺️
Also, if you want to be tagged, just let me know! ❤️
Unlucky - Prologue
I've been working on this for a moment, and I thought it was time to post the prologue and see if you guys would be interested in this series... :)
NCIS x Criminal Minds crossover!!
Summary: You're Emily Prentiss's little sister, you work for NCIS and when your team got a case in Quantico, it's time for her to meet your team and for you to meet hers...
Pairings: sister!Emily Prentiss x Reader, Leroy Jethro Gibbs x Reader, Aaron Hotchner x Reader, (and maybe more...)
Word count: 1,4k
After practically five days away from home, Emily couldn’t wait to get to her apartment, shower in her own bathroom and sleep in her comfortable bed. She sighed in delight before she even opened her front door, knowing that she made it back and that Sergio was waiting for her.
As soon as she got inside, she noticed the lights on in the kitchen and living room. She knew she didn’t leave them on, but maybe Garcia forgot when she came to feed Sergio. Who wasn’t greeting her, like he always does.
That was when Emily heard some noises coming from the kitchen. Slowly and quietly, she grabbed her gun from its holster, and held it against her chest. Trying not to make a noise, she walked inside her apartment. There was definitely someone in her kitchen.
Without taking a look, she jumped into the light, holding her gun up to whoever was there. “Federal Agent!” She yelled, but you didn’t flinch.
“Put that away, will you?” You said, not bothering to turn around.
Emily recognized her younger sister’s voice. She sighed in relief and exhaustion, and put her gun away. “Damn it, Y/N/N, what are you doing here?”
You turned around, frying pan in your hand. “Cooking?” You grinned at your sister. “Fuck, when was the last time you slept?”
Rolling her eyes, Emily walked up to you and kissed your cheek before looking at what you were cooking. She had to admit that it smelled delicious. She hadn’t planned on eating anything but now that it was there and almost ready, she wasn’t going to resist. “Some feds actually work.” Emily went for the bread on the kitchen counter and threw it away immediately as it burned her fingers.
“Yeah I just took it out of the oven.” You informed her, a bit late.
“And you couldn’t tell me before I touched it?” Emily yelled at you and opened the fridge to get something to drink. “Did you do the groceries?”
You turned off the grills, and looked for two plates. “Yeah, I took pity on your fridge.”
Emily opened her bottle of water and looked around while drinking, “Where is my cat?”
“Outside.”
Emily split the water she was drinking, and looked at you with big and angry eyes. “Outside? Are you serious?” She rushed to the door. “Sergio isn’t an outdoor cat, you idiot!”
Rolling your eyes, you finished preparing the plates before joining Emily outside. You found her a few streets away, lights in her hand, calling for Sergio. “How was I supposed to know he isn’t an outdoor cat?”
“That’s your apology, Y/N? Seriously?”
“Rule 6: Never apologize, it’s a sign—“
“Oh my god, shut up with your boss’s rules!” Emily yelled. “I can’t deal with that right now! Help me find Sergio or go back to wherever the hell you come from.”
“Well, we have a case here in Quantico, so—I’m going to stick around for a few days.”
Emily stared at you walking away, light in your hand too and calling for Sergio. She knew that you didn’t do well with arguments and yelling - with people you love and care about. Sergio clearly wasn’t in this street, so Emily jogged until she caught back with you. “Sorry sis, I shouldn’t have yelled.” She wrapped her arms around your shoulders. “We had a crappy case and now I’m worried for Sergio.”
“I’m sorry too. Your cat was scratching the front door, so I opened it to let him out.”
“Did you just break your boss’s rule?” Emily grinned.
“Actually, this rule doesn’t stand with family and friends. Gibbs words.”
You two kept walking around the neighborhood, looking for a black cat, in the dark. “So—it means that your team is here too?” Emily asked.
“Obviously.”
“Will I finally meet them?”
“I don’t know. Will I finally meet your team?”
“I meet yours, you meet mine.”
Emily extended her hand to you and you did the handshake you created when you were little girls.
After half an hour of searching, your phone rang. It was your boss, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, who wanted to talk about the case. You excused yourself to Emily and went back to the apartment while talking with Gibbs over the phone. “Oh my god, Sergio!” You exclaimed when you reached the front door. The cat was sitting there, clearly waiting to get back inside.
“Nope, still Gibbs.” You heard over the phone.
“Yeah no, I just reached my sister’s place and her cat is there. We’ve been looking for him for the past hour.” You explained to your boss.
“It’s a cat. They always find their way back home.”
“Yeah well, Em was worried because I let him out. I had to help her.” With your phone pressed between your ear and shoulder, you picked up Sergio and then opened the door.
“But it found the way back home.” Gibbs pressed his statement.
“Yes boss, he did.” You rolled her eyes, convinced that Gibbs would know about it. Once inside, you let go of Sergio, who immediately rushed to his food. “You’re such a dog person.”
“So are you, Prentiss.”
“Yes, but the other Prentiss isn’t and now I have to live with a cat for the next few days.”
“Need I to remind you that you refuse to stay at the hotel with us?”
“With us or with you?” You smirked.
“You could have sneaked out.”
“And almost get caught like last month on the USS Reagan?”
Gibbs chuckled over the phone, remembering how you two almost got caught by Tony DiNozzo. You were making out in one of the chambers the Captain cleared for the team, and Tony rushed inside to talk about the case. Luckily, you were sitting at the desk so you just pretended to be working. At least, you tried to.
“Anyway, can you do what I asked?” Gibbs asked.
“Always, you know it. But I seriously need to text Em right now, she’s still outside looking for Sergio.”
“Fine, hang up on me.”
“See you tomorrow, Leroy.” You grinned, even though he couldn’t see it. You always teased him with his first name, fully aware that he didn’t really like when you did. He was fine with ‘Jethro’ sometimes, but it could feel a little too familiar, when your relationship was simply Friends with Benefits.
It started over a year ago after Gibbs injured his shoulder. You felt responsible for the injury since it occured as he tried to save you. So you drove him to and from work, you helped him put his coat on when he struggled, you fixed his holster from him, you cleaned his house a bit - even though he fought you about that. And when one morning, you arrived at his house and saw him with his shirt unbuttoned, you helped too. But you let your fingers brush his chest, and you saw the shivers on his pecs. When you looked up to him, he was staring at your lips. You ended up being late for work that morning.
Shortly after, it happened again, and again. Eventually, you and Gibbs agreed for it to be just that; sex. Obviously, you cared about each other, so it was a little more than sex, but it wasn’t anything serious and it would never be. Gibbs made that very clear from the beginning.
Emily got home shortly after you texted her and she spent several minutes on the floor, cuddling Sergio. You ate together, while you were still working on your computer. Emily asked about your case and you explained it to her. She was fast to give a different insight on what you had so far and you made sure to dig that in the morning. “Damn, I never imagined we would do the same job.” She commented, laughing.
“Tell me about it. I was so mad at you for joining the FBI.”
“Just like I was mad at you for joining the Navy ten years later.”
“But if I hadn’t joined the Navy, I wouldn’t be an NCIS Agent now.”
“True. So, the next step is you leaving NCIS and joining the FBI.”
You laughed at that, “Over my dead body. Gibbs would take this as a betrayal.”
“Who cares? And what’s that guy's problem with the Bureau?”
“Wait and see until you meet him.” You grinned at Emily. “The Bureau is letting us use some of their offices.”
“Seriously? Which floor?”
“Sixth.”
The number had barely left your lips and Emily had jumped from the couch. “Are you serious, right now?” You looked at your sister with a smirk on your face. “That’s the BAU’s floor!”
“Is it now?”

Note
I just sent a message about how well you’ve captured Garcia’s voice, but I want to gush about that story a bit more. I absolutely love how supportive the BAU team is of Kate. I love how it’s so clear that they not only respect her, but they genuinely like her as a person. Also, I love that it’s not just the women, but that she went to Rossi for advice and thenKate warns him! It’s just so good!
I have more crossovers with the CM team planned. I love the dynamic between them. I think they serve as sort of mentors? I figure Kate worked with them when she was with DIA. Emily and JJ are great at what they do, and so is Garcia, but it’s more than that.
(This became longer than intended)
Kate can see that it can be done. Garcia sees so much ugliness from behind her screens. She'd been recruited by the FBI as a hacker, but it's not really the kind of deal she could say no to. Her role became more than initially advertised, but she stays. She is instrumental to their work and the team has become family. She hasn't lost her light and is the source of it for the team.
JJ somehow makes everything work. She's a great Mom to her kids, but she still has a ton of experience under her belt. A communications liaison, FBI profiler, her stint at the State Department. She was the face families saw and the detectives went to for help. And she still knows the words to Henry's favorite bedtime story by heart.
Emily Prentiss is someone who has had a lot of expectations put on her all her life. Her mother, her bosses, people's assumptions once they hear that her mother was a diplomat. Emily lives her own life and does things her own way. Special Agent, Unit Chief, Section Chief, Chief of the London Interpol office, she has an impressive record. She knows how to navigate social graces and deal with politicians, but she also knows what it means working the streets and dealing with the cops and detectives of every city they go to.
Kate sees that the job and hardest parts of it can be done without losing herself. That a balance can be found. I think that's especially important now that she's back with Lucy. Kate wants to make a difference, we can see that from her past jobs, lawyer, intelligence officer, but now she knows that she doesn't have to sacrifice everything to do that. She's letting the team get to know her more and that's hard for her, but it'll also reassure her that these people are there for her and not just because she's Lucy's girlfriend. Kate's been alone for a long time, she's played a role in that, but I also don't see being an intelligence officer as very team oriented. She's learned that a team can become family, but is experiencing it herself now.
I like the idea of the BAU team being there for Kate. They could see she had potential and maybe tried to coax her into becoming FBI, but that wasn't the right time. It left that door open though, let her know that was an option.
I think I'll do a few more crossovers with the NCIS Hawaii team and the BAU, some serious some not, but I like how they play off each other.
One thing though. Kate hates Reid with a passion. She wants to know how to figure things out herself, so she can do it again in another case if she has to (our girl is practical and like the challenge). She learns nothing when Reid just says the answer and gives a hurried thirty second explanation. It's drives her up a wall. She wants to learn and be the best agent and help she can.
I'm so happy you enjoy it and hope I do all of them justice.

HOTCHNISS FIC RECS (no one asked for)
and their short plot descriptions. Said description is solely based on what I can remember of the story and mostly just my reactions. I’m sure the authors provided a better summary so go read that instead.
Intolerable Me, Despicable You by Blythechild
Slowburn, enemies to lovers Hotchniss. This fic basically screams angst.
Recovery Series by Kavi Leighanna
Series order: Endgame, Rise and Forward
Post s6 - Lauren arc. This could have been season 7 but CM writers really decided to rob us of Hotchniss. Anyway, this one is a good read. Kind of Emily centric but also just pure Hotchniss goodness.
Bonus: kind of team fic as well since it explores their relationship with Emily after the whole she faked her death thing.
Reckoning by Tigereye77
Post s6. Lauren arc (we love Lauren arc fics. Best arc in the whole series if you ask me). Badass Prentiss, Emily centric, protective Hotch. Again, this could have been s7 but we were robbed.
Small Favors by Doodle19
Emily centric. Mommy Emily! + slowburn hotchniss all rolled into one. Also, Ambassador Prentiss really be redeeming herself in this fic.
Untold Truths by Doodle19
Hotchniss secret child. Mom Emily. Slowburn, angsty Hotchniss. Really, you’ll fall in love with Emily’s child here you wouldn’t stop reading it.
Family Dynamics by DreamGoddesses’92
Sequel: Days Go By
Jack + Emily goodness. After Foyet arc. Basically, how season 5 should have been.
Glittering Mica Series by SequinSmile
Post S15. Bawled my eyes out after reading this series. Probably my favorite Hotchniss fic. Coffees and slow dances will never be the same again after reading this.
Whatever Tomorrow Brings by SequinSmile
Established/Married Hotchniss. AU where Haley and Hotch never got married. Instead she left him, he met Emily and married her instead. But here comes the kicker, Jack still exists!
A sequel entitled, If Tomorrow Starts Without You, is still ongoing.
Midnight Blue Velvet by SSA_Sparks
Established Hotchniss. Pure fluff. Hotch being a good boyfriend and seriously making me want to have a Hotch of my own.
Goddess of the Hunt and the Never Do Again List by FotobridgeT2
Emily centric. Team dynamics and Hotch lowkey pining over Emily.
Some Chicken Soup, a Box of Tissues and Little TLC by Sienna27
Established Hotchniss. Sick fic. Hotch taking care of sick Emily and basically being the best boyfriend anyone could ask for.
Falling in Love with a Girl by Sienna27
You know those platonic friendships — having that connection with someone and then said friendship blossoms into so much more. Platonic friendship turns into platonic soulmates to actual endgame!! If you love that trope, well this fic is for you. Oh and Hotch getting all alpha male and protective of Emily, then getting all soft and calling her sweetheart. I mean —
Behind the Scene Series by Luli27
Season 5 + Foyet arc and how Hotchniss was so dating and developing during that whole season (and yes you can’t change my mind).
Part 1: All She Could Do
Part 2: Break Me Out
Part 3: Coming Out to the Other Side
Part 4: Drinks and Conversation
Part 5: Evaluations, Explanations and Expectations
Part 6: First Obstacle
Part 7: Gossip at 3,000 Feet
Part 8: Hunted Hotch
Part 9: Interlude’s End
Part 10: Journey’s New Beginning
Jake and Amy by Microwavebubbles
B99 parallel and an honest to god fluff goodness.
I Was Enchanted to Meet You by Purpleplasticpurse
Again, if fluff is your cup of tea, then this one is for you.
The Wonder of You by by PrentissInRed
Forgot the premise but set around s7. One of the first fics I’ve read.
Case fics:
If you are looking for a good case fic with a side of Hotchniss (bonus: the whole team is included!) then this trilogy by Sarramaks is the one.
Calverville Point, South Dakota
Humanity
When the Blue of the Night
NCIS x Criminal Minds crossover:
A Rose by Any Other Name by Tigereye77
Set after Demonology. NCIS team dynamics + Emily Prentiss goodness + 2 team leaders butting heads over Emily Prentiss — need I say more? Or Gibbs being Gibbs and Hotch trying to repress his feelings for Emily, therefore messing everything up when really he should just man up and tell the woman.
Perfect by Tigereye77
Unfinished sequel but still just as good.
Christmas fics:
Hurry Down the Chimney Tonight by Kavi Leighanna
Christmas goodness. Fluffy/domestic Hotchniss with a dash of our favorite little g-man, Jack Hotchner.
His Christmas Wish by Kavi Leighanna
Another Christmas fic. Forgot the whole premise but this one is also just as good as the other Christmas fic written by the same writer. It made me feel all tingly and soft. Again, pure Hotchniss fluff with a sprinkle of Jack.
Seriously though, if you feel like starting your holidays early, scroll through Kavi Leighanna's page and get your Hotchniss holiday fix.
Honorary mention since this is staple Hotchniss fics:
We See No End, We Don’t Know How by Purpleplasticpurse
Casual Arrangement by Microwavebubbles
Ongoing fics:
How Far We’ll Go by likingandloving
Season 7. In this universe Beth does not exist and Emily is Hotch's training partner for the triathlon.
Someone You Love by Prentissinred
First Time’s Butterflies by SSA_Sparks
Brief Encounters by Microwavebubbles

just thinking about how unlike CSI and NCIS, CM never had any three-part crossover events with it’d spinoff shows. And no, the backdoor pilots count.
For instance, CSI had a three part crossover event with CSI: Miami and CSI: NY and in January, NCIS had a crossover event with both NCIS LA and NCIS Hawaii. Hell, even Law & Order had a crossover event with SVU and Organized Crime
To be fair, it probably didn’t help that both CM spinoffs flopped (even though Beyond Borders did somewhat better than suspect behavior).

tua five crossover ideas: cm x tua: five somehow has credentials to get on the team, but just "me personally, i would have-"
cm x tua x2: five is a suspect and they think he is a killer, but then they realize he's just like that (he is a killer, but not who they are looking for)
dc x tua: he would bully bruce wayne for attempting to speak to him, would not be adopted (58 year old), gives strange advice to the family dc x tua: murks the joker for funsies, confuses entirety of gotham
sherlock (tv) x tua: he would hate sherlock on sight. he'd also be like "you're so young, you need to" and sherlock is confused why this 13 year old is calling him young and also why he has an ungodly amount of not his own blood on him.
ncis x tua: gibbs and him are buddies, no one knows why
