This Sunday I defended my MSc thesis in Chemistry and I passed with a high grade. The thing is that my P.I wanted me to write a paper. I on the other hand am not interested in writing one. So instead of lying to him or making him false promises about writing it, I told him that I’m not interested (since I don’t think the results I have are sufficient to write one) and that there is still more to do and my successor can do it. In return I get an email saying that he’s very disappointed in my approach and he could have suggested me to pay hourly for writing it but clearly that’s not what I want. Now I get why he’s disappointed. I did manage to do something no one has done before and to not write a paper about it is a waste of his time. But I know my research. And as much as my preliminary results seem promising, they are not paper worthy. I don’t like disappointing people (I hate it) and it sucks to be told by your P.I that you admire so much that he’s disappointed in you. But I seriously didn’t want to put a paper out there that I didn’t believe in. Also I’m really burned out after 6 years in the academy where I got my masters and two full bachelors degrees (one in Chemistry and the other Material engineering). I wanna go to work and not write a paper. Writing my thesis SUCKED and I don’t wanna be subjected to that ever again.
Maybe I could have written the email in a more delicate way than I did? I bet it wouldn’t have made a difference. He’d still be disappointed anyway. As much as I admire my P.I he is a diva sometimes (old white man in academy am I right?). Man I’m so glad he was my P.I and it sucks to leave on a sour note after 3 years of working for him. But I need to come to term with the fact that I’m gonna disappoint people wether I like it or not, and it’s ok. I probably need a day or two to just process that email and then I’ll be fine.
TL;DR
I finished my masters in Chemistry and my P.I wanted me to publish a paper which I’m not interested in. So I told him I didn’t believe my results were sufficient and my successor should optimize my research and publish the paper. My P.I didn’t like my answer and said he’s disappointed in me (which sucks to hear since I’m a people pleaser and I really admire him). So I have to come to term with the fact that through life I’ll disappoint more people and that sucks ass but I need to move on and not grovel.

Well, we’ll see how this turns out! God help me I hope this isn’t confusing with so many Tonys. This

The first Tony to show up- besides himself of course- wakes him up in the middle of the night and calls him an asshole. And, because he’s talking to himself, he tells himself to fuck off and goes back to sleep until the morning. But then two more of him have shown up and they’re all squabbling over suit designs when Tony wakes up and makes his way to the common area of the compound.
The rest of the team is watching them all, confused, when Tony walks into the room. “Please tell me you aren’t another,” Steve says and he frowns.
“Why is there three of me in the living room?” he asks and Bruce’s eyebrows draw together.
“Tony, if anyone would have the answer to that it’s you,” he says.
“Hey, yeah, how come you guys have Bruce Banner? Is he not the Hulk in this universe?” one of him asks.
They all frown, confused. “I’m still the Hulk,” Bruce says but the Tony that spoke looks as confused as the avengers do.
“Then why are you all

“How come this Steve wears a cooler suit than my Steve? My Steve wears an ugly ass bought colored flag thing and yeah maybe this Steve’s suit looks like its in need of a wash but its definitely cooler,” another Tony says.
“I designed it,” Tony explains and the other him nods.
“Makes sense. SHIELD designs our suits minus mine obviously. Guess Coulson likes the nostalgia.”
Clint perks up, “your Coulson is alive?” he asks and oh, that’s rough. Tony has hear rumors that they were together before he died but he’s never really gotten confirmation. This isn’t confirmation either, but it does seem to support the rumors.
The other Tony nods. “Is your Coulson
 not alive?” he asks.
“No,” Steve says. “Is your SHIELD not HYDRA?” he asks and right, good question. Count on Steve to think of it.
The Tony that spoke frowns. “Um. Not that I know of. Yours was?”
“Mine was too,” says the third Tony. “Then the apocalypse happened but since New York is still here I assume that didn’t happen in this universe.”
The Tony with Hulk instead of Bruce raises an eyebrow. “The apocalypse, huh. How come you guys got all the exciting stuff and I only got dumped by Pepper?” he asks.
“No that happened here too,” Tony tells him.
“Boo on us,” he mumbles but the Tony with maybe-not-HYDRA-SHIELD and alive Coulson frowns.
“Are none of you dating Steve?” he asks. “We’re married in my universe. I mean I assumed you two were together here too since he knew right away none of us were you,” he says to Tony.
“I’m with Steve,” Apocalypse Tony says.
“Right on,” Alive Coulson Tony says, high living the other him.
Steve looks, Tony thinks, as confused as he does. “There are
 multiple universes where we’re together?” he asks but more out of disbelief than curiosity.
The two Tonys that are apparently with Steve shrug. “Yeah. I mean, I just sort of assumed we were all with you. To be honest I can’t really imagine my life without you. Well, not you. Other you,” Apocalypse Tony says and its probably only because he knows himself, even in other universes he guesses, that he knows that particular Tony pities him. So does Alive Coulson Tony and frankly he resents that. At least Dumped By Pepper Tony gets it even if he’s got a weird Bruce situation going.
“So,” Tony says, changing the subject, “why the hell are you all here?”

Steve watches as four Tony’s squabble about suit designs and the things they tired, the things they dismissed, and all of them ripping on the other’s designs. When people say you’re your own worst critic Steve thinks they should all watch this exchange because none of the Tony’s like the other Tony’s designs. The other three Tony’s turn in sync, all making the exact same offended noise and just like that they’re off again. Steve sighs and decides to break out the big guns.

Pepper and Natasha over see the four Tony’s and every time one of them tries to argue about something unrelated to getting them all back to the right universe they tell them to get back on track. That’s when the fifth Tony shows up and they all frown. “Why am I white?” he asks the other four and Natasha’s Tony in particular grins.
“FRI, call Rhodey and tell him I’m black,” he says. “In another universe. Tell him I’m black in another universe,” he amends.
The other three Tony’s raise their eyebrows in sync and that’s creepy. “I guess we come in different races,” Apocalypse Tony says.
Black Tony rolls his eyes, “there are infinite universes dumbass- we come in all races and genders. Don’t know why I ended up with four white me’s though,” he mumbles.
“We’re Italian,” Tony says but Alive Coulson Tony frowns at that so clearly he isn’t Italian.
Black Tony squints, “I hate to break it to you, but Italy is in Europe. You’re white,” he says and Natasha’s Tony laughs.
“Yeah, I know that. What I meant was that that’s where we came from. Which obviously isn’t the case for you, and your accent tells me you’re American which probably means you don’t actually know your origin country,” he says.
“I’m actually Romanian,” Alive Coulson Tony says. “And Jewish. Any of you Jewish?” he asks and the rest of the Tonys frown.
“I’m an atheist,” Black Tony says and the rest nod.
Romanian Tony rolls his eyes, “oh course you all are,” he mumbles.
“So, out of curiosity any of you married to Rhodey?” Black Tony who is also apparently Married To Rhodey Tony asks.
The rest of the Tonys shake their heads. “My Rhodey died,” Apocalypse Tony says and Natasha’s Tony winces.
“Mine’s fine, but we aren’t married. I mean we experimented a little in college but that’s it.” Pepper looks surprised by this but doesn’t say anything. “Also these idiots are married to Steve. Rogers,” he adds for clarification. Apocalypse Tony and Romanian and also apparently Jewish Tony exchange a look while Married to Rhodey Tony wrinkles his nose.
“Steve and I hate each other,” he says and Natasha’s Tony lets out a sigh of relief.
“Finally someone with sense,” he says, earning a dirty look from Romanian and Apocalypse Tony.

They at least figure out where all the Tony’s are coming from, but not until Tony But A Woman shows up with Starbucks. “Why are you all looking at me like that? I knew i’d be stuck here for awhile so I got coffee,” she says.
“Nice to know I’m hot in all sexes,” Natasha’s Tony says, eyeing himself- herself?- up.
Lady Tony wrinkles her nose. “Pig. Guess male me is a gross asshole,” she mumbles.
“He used to have a stripper plane,” Pepper tells her, selling their Tony out in an instant and he looks way too offended at this.
Lady Tony gives him a dirty look. “I hope you aren’t married to Natasha in this universe,” she says and Natasha’s eyebrows fly up.
“We’re married?” she asks. Its not like she’s told anyone about her sexuality and frankly she doesn’t even know if she’s attracted to women or men given how the Red Room forced her to flirt with anything that moved if that’s what would get her information. Now its sort of second nature and whatever attraction that may or may not have been there is long eroded. Guess her in another universe figured out what she hasn’t.
Tony But a Woman frowns. “We’re
 not together in this universe?” she asks.
“Stripper plane,” Natasha says in way of an explanation and Woman Tony nods sagely.
“In my defense,” her Tony starts but Married to Rhodey Tony cuts him off.
“There is no defense, that’s shitty and you should feel shitty,” he says.
“I had a very good relationship with those women and what they did was hard work. They tried to teach me once and I almost broke my neck, you should respect them even if you think I’m an ass. Which is a fair opinion,” he says and well, Natasha wasn’t expecting that.
“In your universe,” she asks Woman Tony, “was I a Black Widow?”
She frowns, “a who?”
“You know. Black Widow. Red Room, kinda attached to HYDRA but not really?” her Tony says but Woman Tony still looks confused.
“I don’t know what that is either,” Married to Rhodey Tony says.
“Then what am I even like?” Natasha asks, unable to conceptualize herself outside that scope of being.
Woman Tony grins, “still hot.” She rolls her eyes because apparently Tony is a pig in both sexes.
“That answers nothing. You a superhero?” her Tony asks and Lady Tony laughs.
“Oh my god, you have delusions of grander that put mine to shame,” she says.
The rest of the Tony’s look confused. “No we’re all superheroes. Iron Heart?” Married to Tony Rhodey says and the other four frown.
“Iron Man,” her Tony corrects but the rest nod so they’ve taken that name too.
Married to Rhodey Tony rolls his eyes. “White me’s aren’t creative,” he mumbles and then eyes up Woman Tony. “Except you, you might be creative I don’t know yet.”
“There are universes where we are honest to god superheroes?” she asks.
“Did you universe find Steve Rogers?” Pepper asks and Woman Tony frowns.
“Yeah, dead seventy years after he went into the ice- are you telling me he’s alive in your universes?” she asks.
Their Tony nods to Romanian Tony and Apocalypse Tony. “They’re married to him. We hate him,” he says, gesturing to himself and Married to Rhodey Tony. “But if you aren’t a superhero what do you do? Did you get kidnapped in Afghanistan? What is your life like?” Tony asks.
Woman Tony shrugs. “Fine I guess. I run the company- green energy mostly. Howard didn’t like it much but Howard can bite me,” she says.
Married to Rhodey Tony, “Howard?”
The rest of the Tony’s look at him, all of them annoyed. “You didn’t have Howard Stark as a parent? What’s your relationship like with your dad?” Apocalypse Tony asks.
Married to Rhodey Tony shrugs. “Fine, I guess. I mean we aren’t close but we aren’t on bad terms. I
 take it you guys are on bad terms with your dads?” he asks more than states.
“Howard was an abusive piece of shit,” Woman Tony says and the rest nod in agreement.
Married to Rhodey Tony lets out a soft laugh, “sucks to be you guys. The company though- why are you running it?” he asks Woman Tony but the rest look confused too.
“Its
 Stark Industries?” their Tony says, frowning. “I mean Pep has been running SI for like ten years almost now, but still. I had it before I made her CEO.”
The rest of the Tonys give Natasha’s Tony a confused look. “You gave Pepper the company?” Woman Tony asks, shocked.
“Mine went under in the apocalypse but I manage,” Apocalypse Tony says.
“I still have mine but I don’t do clean energy I do oil. Engineering was always my second love,” Romanian Tony says and her Tony wrinkles his nose.
“You’re killing the planet you dumb piece of shit. What kind of superhero are you? You’re not saving anything,” he says, surprisingly angry about this.
“You almost ended the world with Ultron,” Natasha reminds him.
“That was an accident,” Tony says in his defense and only Apocalypse Tony seems to forgive him for that one.
“Wait, can we go back to the company? What the hell is Stark Industries? In my universe I work at Rhodey’s company and its Rhodes Labs. What’s Rhodey do here?” he asks their Tony.
“He’s a colonel in the Air Force. He runs a company in your universe?” he asks and Married to Rhodey Tony nods.
“Pharmaceuticals.Very focused on getting medications to poorer areas both in America and elsewhere.”
Woman Tony frowns, “then how the fuck did you end up a superhero? Actually I want all your origin stories. Are we still Italian?” she asks.
“I’m Romanian. Are you Jewish?” he asks and she frowns.
“No, I’m Catholic,” she says and the atheist Tonys all wrinkle their noses.

The downside to a bunch of Tonys is that they all know how the other thinks and they keep shooting down ideas as soon as they crop up, and they crop up fast. “Look- first of all we need to break the damn connection. Who did this? Stripper plane?” Woman Tony asks, glaring at their Tony. He sighs and Natasha shares a look with Pepper, who’s just as amused as she is.
“Why have none of you closed the damn connection to the other universes?” someone new asks and they look over to find an annoyed brown woman who is, despite her obvious differences to the rest of the Tonys, unmistakably another Tony.
“I told them to do that but you know. Men,” Woman Tony 1.0 says.
Other Woman Tony squints and looks around. “Are none of you from Afghanistan?” she asks.
Their Tony sighs, “no. In this universe I was the weapons developer who pretty much single handedly ruined the country. Sorry about that,” he says, at least looking properly ashamed even if Afghanistan Tony looks confused.
“What are you talking about? Afghanistan is fine. Is America a third world country in this universe? It is in mine.” 
Natasha’s Tony’s eyebrows fly up. “Plot twist.”
“Are you Jewish?” Romanian Tony asks and their Tony rolls his eyes.
“She’s wearing a hijab- obviously fucking not,” he says and Afghanistan Tony laughs. 
“I take it none of you are Muslim?”
“Most of them are atheists except him,” Woman Tony says, Romanian Tony. “I’m Catholic. Left over from my Italian roots though I guess these guys didn’t stick to that,” he says, a little judgment in her voice.
Their Tony rolls his eyes, “I found food culture more important than a mary sue magical sky fairy,” he says and Natasha claps her hands as all three religious Tonys suck in a breath.
“Get yourselves the fuck out of the wrong universe!” she tells them.
“Wait- before we get to that are you also a superhero?” Married to Rhodey Tony asks Afghanistan Tony.
“Yeah, Iron Heart. You?” she asks and he grins.
“Alright- another creative. These idiots go by ‘Iron Man’ like some kind of freaks. This one isn’t even a superhero. Are you married to Rhodey?” he asks and Afghanistan Tony frowns.
“Who?” she asks and the rest of the Tonys look offended. “What? Are none of you married to Nick? Fury,” she clarifies when they all look confused. They all raise their eyebrows when she says Nick’s last name and color Natasha curious she wants to know too.
“He’s like
 basically my dad in my universe,” Woman Tony 1.0 says and Afghanistan Tony wrinkles her nose.
“Same here, ish,” her Tony says.
“Died in the apocalypse,” Apocalypse Tony says.
“Don’t even know who that is,” Romanian Tony says and when her Tony tells him he was the former director of SHIELD he frowns. “Coulson runs SHIELD.”
“Is SHIELD a non profit organization here?” Afghanistan Tony asks. They all look confused so she takes that as a no. “Huh. Well that’s how I met Nick- who is my age in my universe. I was doing charity work in America.”
“Does he still have only one eye?” Natasha asks because all those Tonys must be dying to ask but they’re all exercising extreme self control not to ask. They all look relieved when she does it for them and Afghanistan Tony nods.
“Lost an eye to infection in childhood. Not unusual in America,” she says. Clint is going to lose his shit when she tells him later.

Clint looks annoyed and honestly Bruce can’t blame him. “They drank all the fucking coffee,” he says.
“Ate all the cookies too and Afghanistan Tony is a scrapper- don’t try and take her sweets.” Even Hulk wouldn’t battle it out with her and Bruce wasn’t about to test his luck. He just wanted a damn cookie.
“They figured it out!” Natasha yells, running into the kitchen all but crying in relief. He would too, if he’d been put in charge of keeping them all organized. “Thank fuck. You should have seen them all argue about the fucking suits. Who cares?” she says, shaking her head. “Also apparently there is a universe where I am not only married to Tony, but I also own a pet shop and wear Uggs. I should horrible and I hate me,” she says.
“Anyone say anything about me?” Clint asks and Nat nods.
“Yeah, Afghanistan Tony’s world is weird and America is a third world country and you got some disease that made you go deaf in your teens,” she says.
Clint sulks.Â ïżœïżœïżœWhy the fuck do I get the short stick?” he mumbles.
Natasha squints, “I wear Uggs and I’m married to Tony. Deafness is not that bad, especially compared to that,” she says.
“Any news about the other me’s?” Bruce asks and Natasha nods.
“There’s a short fat Russian Tony that married you but then you got killed by his rivals in Poland and also World War Two ended ten years later than it did here in that universe.”
Bruce winces. “Yikes.”
“Weirdest Tony to show up, go,” Clint says.
Natasha shrugs, “probably a toss up between Japanese Tony who really liked her Kawaii fashion choices or the one Tony that showed up that we think was an alien but none of us were totally sure. We had no fucking clue what he was trying to say. Or even if he was a he.”
“How is alien Tony on par with Kawaii Tony?” he asks.
Natasha pulls out her phone and shows him a picture of all the Tony’s together with Japanese Kawaii Tony in the front in a bunch of pastel colors with fuzzy mint green cat ears on, baby pink hair in big curls that suggests she’s wearing a wig, and a giant smile on her face. He can spot their Tony right away because he looks as confused by this version of himself as he and Clint do. “I see your point,” he says. “She Iron Man too? Or Iron Woman?” he amends.
Natasha lets out a loud snort, “oh my god guys, you should have seen her suit it was a thing of beauty. Tony in pastels should be immortalized.”
“Actually it was, she had the best designs out of all of us. Which is fucking nuts when you consider that the suits were designed to look like stuffed animals from her childhood. Guess I don’t sacrifice style in any universe,” Tony says.
Clint raises an eyebrow, “seriously?” he asks.
Tony nods. “Yeah. She put that suit through the fucking ringer and came out with some pretty damn sweet designs and functions. Kinda wished I could have picked her brain longer. Also she told my Japanese was an insult to the language.”
Bruce snorts and starts laughing. “Sounds like something you’d say.”

The emergence of nanotechnology in recent years has made a revolutionary impact in every aspect of the science, engineering and technology. Green synthesis of the metal nanoparticles using plant biomass is an emerging area of the research worldwide. These nanoparticles were investigated for their antibacterial efficacy and found to be the potential candidates to treat the resistant superbugs. Reviewed literature reveals that particle size plays an important role in the lysis of the bacterial cell wall. In the present review, we have focussed on the synthesis of metallic nanoparticles by using green route and evaluation of the antibacterial efficacy against various pathogenic bacterial strains

    Introduction
Discoveries in the past have shown that the physical and chemical properties of materials change significantly once the size of the materials is reduced to nanoscale in the range of 1 to 100nm [1]. The development of nanotechnology has revolutionized the every aspect of the science, engineering and technology. In recent years, the multidimensional aspects of nanoparticles make them potential materials for applications in a wide variety of fields. The properties of nanoparticles are significantly different from their bulk counterparts. Nanoparticles show some unique properties such as Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), surface-enhanced Rayleigh scattering and Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) properties that make them the potential materials for optoelectronics, electronics, chemical sensing and biological applications [2]. Among the various materials, metallic nanoparticles have been used extensively by researchers worldwide.
The preparation of nanoparticles is done either through a top-down or a bottom-up approach. Various physical and chemical methods have also been employed for the preparation of nanoparticles by size reduction of bulk material by the top-down approach. However, the main drawback of this process is the imperfection of the surface structure. Besides this, the high energy consumption requirement during the preparation for maintaining high temperature and pressure is another limitation to this process. The bottom-up approach commonly uses the wet chemical process for the preparation of nanoparticles. However, extensive use of toxic and hazardous chemicals is a matter of great concern on the environment and living cells [3,4].
The green synthesis of metal nanoparticles is the novel, environmental friendly and a busy area of research in which the preparation of metal nanoparticles employs the use of bacteria, fungus and plants. Based on this approach, plant extract has been used for the preparation of the inorganic nanomaterials. Plant-mediated green synthesis of metal nanoparticles is a fast, economical and produces highly stable nanoparticles. It is one pot synthetic approach, eco-friendly and safe for human therapeutic use. In contrast to the traditional method of synthesis, plant-based protocols meets all the criteria for green synthesis [3,4].

Green synthesis of the metal nanoparticles using medicinal plant extracts is currently under great exploration. A good number of works have been carried out in this direction where extracts of different parts of the plant are used for the preparation of metal nanoparticles. Metals such as gold, silver, palladium, copper, zinc, platinum etc. has successfully been prepared using the plant extracts.
Intracellular preparation of metal Nanoparticles using plant biomass
Plant biomass was used for the bioaccumulation of metal nanoparticles. However, it requires tiresome and expensive steps to recover the nanoparticles. There is a very little work reported on the use of plant biomass for the intracellular synthesis of metal nanoparticles. Among various plants explored so far included Brassica juncea, Berkheya coddii etc. were used for hyper-accumulation of gold. Besides, Media sativa, Sesbania dromondii, Avena sativa, Triticum aestivum, Festuca rubra etc. have been exploited for preparing various metallic nanoparticles.
Extracellular preparation of metal nanoparticles by plant biomass
Generally plant biomass is the repository of many phytochemicals hence they are also being used for the extracellular preparation of metal nanoparticles. In intracellular preparation, recovery of the prepared nanoparticles is a tiresome work. In contrast to it, plant extract mediated green synthesis is an easy and eco-friendly method.
Plant extracts mediated facile green synthesis of metal nanoparticles
Recently, phyto constituents of plant extracts were employed for reducing the metal ions. These routes are more favourable and their potential applications in the commercial field are also widely perceived. Plants are the source of the broad spectrum of metabolites so a good number of works have been reported where extracts from different parts of plants such as leaves, roots, stems, bark, flowers etc. have been used for the preparation of metal nanoparticles. Among the various nanometals explored so far nanoparticles of silver and gold has been studied extensively because of their large positive electrochemical potential [5]. The studies on the preparation of other metal nanoparticles have also been reported. It has also been observed that shape of nanoparticles reported were almost spherical and highly reactive fcc structure which supports its application at commercial level
    Antibacterial Activities of Metal Nanoparticles
The morphological and physiological characteristics of the nanometals make them a potential candidate for antibacterial activities. Size of the nanoparticles plays an important role in influencing the antibacterial activity. The smaller the size, better is the antibacterial activity [6]. Further, we focused on the work done by the researchers worldwide using the plant extracts for preparing the metal nanoparticles and their potential antibacterial activity.
Gold nanoparticles
To date, large numbers of research groups have focussed their attention on the green synthesis of gold nanoparticles and their potential activity against the common pathogenic bacteria. Au nanoparticles are considered to be the potent candidate as antibacterial agents due to their nontoxicity, ease of detection and photo thermal activity [7-9]. In another experiment, Lima et al. [10] observed the antibacterial efficacy against Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi. They reported that these nanoparticles were effective against 90-95% of the bacterial colonies. Tiwari et al. [11] reported that gold nanoparticles showed better antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria as compared to the Gram-positive. Au nanoparticles as compared to other nanometals are independent of ROS mechanism making them an ideal material to be applied as antibacterial agents.
Silver nanoparticles
Among the various nanoparticles explored so far, silver nanoparticles have also gained much popularity for their application as antibacterial. Recent studies show that Ag nanoparticles can induce pit formation on the cell wall of bacteria leading to its fragmentation [12,13]. Mie et al. [14] investigated the antibacterial potential of Ag nanoparticles against eight microorganisms and reported that these nanoparticles work better against the Gram-negative bacteria. Sondhi & Salopek [15] prepared Ag2O nanoparticles and studied their antibacterial efficacy against Escherichia coli. They proposed that these nanoparticles halted the cell cycle at G2/M phase leading to DNA damage. The cells undergo oxidative stress and apoptosis was induced. However, further research is required to synthesize nano-Ag compounds and composites with minimum toxicity and maximum antibacterial efficacy.
Zinc Nanoparticles
ZnO is compatible with human skin making it a suitable candidate for textile and surfaces that come in contact with human body. Li et al. [16] observed the antibacterial efficacy of the ZnO nanoparticles against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus by coating it on a plastic film. Azam et al. [17] evaluated in a comparative studies on three metal oxide nanoparticles i.e. ZnO, CuO, and Fe2O3 and their antibacterial efficacies against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. They concluded that ZnO nanoparticles showed better bactericidal activity as compared to other metal oxides. Furthermore Xie et al. [18] synthesized the ZnO nanoparticles and tested its efficacy against Campylobacter jejuni. They proposed a tentative mechanism for the antibacterial activity of thus synthesized ZnO nanoparticles.
Copper nanoparticles
The antibacterial activity of copper nanoparticles has been reported by many researchers worldwide. Ruparelia et al. observed the antibacterial efficacy of copper nanoparticles against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtili, Staphylococcus aureus etc. Furthermore, they reported copper nanoparticles have better antibacterial effect against Bacillus subtilis. Azam et al. [19] tested the copper nanoparticles against two Gram positive and Gram-negative bacteria and concluded that size of nanoparticles plays a very important role in antibacterial efficacy.
Besides those mentioned above, metal nanoparticles of alumina, iron, titanium dioxide etc. showing antibacterial activity have also been reported.
    Conclusion
Because of the multidrug-resistant in superbugs, the development of new antibacterial agents is the need of the hour. The metallic nanoparticles particularly gold and silver are the promising tool for this present alarming situation. Further research is required to know the exact mechanism of antibacterial action of metallic nanoparticles. The stability of plant mediated synthesis of metal nanoparticles i
s another key issue to address. Therefore, more studies are required which will catalyze the synthesis of stable metallic nanoparticles with long shelf life.

The low-dose steroid treatment dexamethasone is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus, COVID-19. This is according to UK experts, as reported by BBC News.
The drug is part of a trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus. Dexamethasone cut the risk of death by a third for patients on ventilators. For those on oxygen, it cut deaths by a fifth.
"This is the only drug so far that has been shown to reduce mortality - and it reduces it significantly,” said Oxford University’s Prof. Peter Horby. “It's a major breakthrough."
“Dexamethasone is the first drug to be shown to improve survival in COVID-19,” added Horby in a press release issued by Oxford University. “This is an extremely welcome result.”
“The survival benefit is clear and large in those patients who are sick enough to require oxygen treatment, so dexamethasone should now become standard of care in these patients. Dexamethasone is inexpensive, on the shelf, and can be used immediately to save lives worldwide.”
Light-Activated CRISPR Rapidly Repairs Genes
Scientists at Johns Hopkins Medicine have used light as a trigger to rapidly make precise CRISPR cuts in genomic material.
The research results were obtained in a series of experiments using human cancer cell lines and published in Science. They show that specialized cell proteins repaired the exact spot where genes were cut.
The scientists modified the CRISPR-Cas9 complex by engineering a light-sensitive RNA molecule. It allows the CRISPR complex to cut genomic DNA in living cells only when exposed to a particular wavelength of light.
Repairing Old Blood Could Achieve Rejuvenation
Researchers at UC Berkeley have found that replacing half of the blood plasma with a mixture of saline and albumin reverses signs of aging in old mice. It also rejuvenates muscle, brain, and liver tissue.
A study published in Aging indicates that the new technique has the same or stronger rejuvenation effects than replacing old blood with new blood.
This suggests that rejuvenation could be achieved by removing harmful factors in old blood. The researchers are finalizing clinical trials to determine if a modified plasma exchange in humans could be used to treat age-associated diseases and improve the overall health of older people.
Nanoneedles Could Improve Skin Cancer Treatment
Purdue University scientists have created a wearable patch to provide an improved treatment experience for people with melanoma.
The patch is described in a research paper published in ACS Nano. It uses fully miniaturized “nanoneedles” to enable unobtrusive drug delivery through the skin for the management of skin cancers.
The surface of the nanoneedles is configured with nanoscale pores. They provide a large drug loading capacity comparable to those using conventional microneedles.
The nanoneedles could deliver the chemotherapeutic drugs to target melanoma sites in a sustainable manner.
Small Molecules Suppress Cancer Growth
City of Hope scientists have identified two potent small molecules that appear to suppress tumor growth in multiple cancers. They work even when other treatments cease to work, possibly due to the development of drug resistance.
Called CS1 and CS2, these cancer inhibitor compounds are part of a protein known as ''fat mass and obesity-associated protein'' (FTO).
A study published in Cancer Cell shows that FTO plays a critical role in cancer development and progression. This is primarily because it regulates cancer stem cells and immune evasion.
Biohybrid Artificial Synapses for BCIs
Researchers at Stanford University, Italian Institute of Technology, and Eindhoven University of Technology, have created an artificial synapse that can integrate and interact with neuron-like cells.
A paper published in Nature Materials reports that the researchers have tested the first biohybrid version of a previously developed artificial synapse. And they demonstrated that it can communicate with living cells.
Future technologies stemming from this device could function by responding directly to chemical signals from the brain. And they may find use in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs).

A $350 “anti-5G” device is just a 128MB USB stick, teardown finds

Believers of 5G conspiracy theories have apparently been buying a $350 anti-5G USB key that—not surprisingly—appears to just be a regular USB stick with only 128MB of storage.
As noted by the BBC today, the “5GBioShield” USB stick “was recommended by a member of Glastonbury Town Council’s 5G Advisory Committee, which has called for an inquiry into 5G.” The company that sells 5GBioShield claims it “is the result of the most advanced technology currently available for balancing and prevention of the devastating effects caused by non-natural electric waves, particularly (but not limited to) 5G, for all biological life forms.”
The product’s website charges £283 for a single 5GBioShield, which converts to nearly $350. That’s what it costs to get “protection for your home and family, thanks to the wearable holographic nano-layer catalyser, which can be worn or placed near to a smartphone or any other electrical, radiation or EMF emitting device.”
“The 5GBioShield makes it possible, thanks to a uniquely applied process of quantum nano-layer technology, to balance the imbalanced electric oscillations arising from all electric fog induced by all devices such as: laptops, cordless phones, wlan, tablets, etc.,” the company says, adding that the USB stick “brings balance into the field at the atomic and cellular level restoring balanced effects to all harmful (ionized and non-ionized) radiation.”
The USB stick apparently doesn’t need to be plugged in to anything to work its magic. “It is always ON and working—that’s why we used quantum nano-layer technology,” the company says in an FAQ.
But the device allegedly produces a wider field of protection when it is plugged in. To answer the question of whether the stick needs to be “charged regularly,” the FAQ says, “No—the input charge only expands the field effect from 4m radius to 20m + radius when plugged into an USB wall charger or a computer.”
Fortunately, you can use 5GBioShield without disabling your Wi-Fi. The USB key doesn’t block Wi-Fi signals, the company says. Instead, the product “transmutes” the signals and “harmonizes all harmful frequencies into life affirming frequencies.”
Teardown confirms: It’s just a USB stick
But what does the 5GBioShield actually consist of? The BBC pointed to a recent teardown by security company Pen Test Partners, which found that the device is just a USB stick with 128MB of storage. The company wrote:
When plugged in to our test machine we may have missed the bubble of “quantum holographic catalyzer technology” appearing.
The stick comes loaded with a 25 page PDF version of the material from 5GBioShield’s website. It included a Q&A of distances for the “bubble” and how to know if it is working. It’s an “always on” system apparently, is always working, powered or not, so no visual checks needed.
A review of the stick’s properties revealed nothing more than what you’d expect from a regular 128MB USB key. We weren’t even sure that 128s are still in production!
Ultimately, “the 5G BioShield is nothing more than a £5 USB key with a sticker on it,” the people at Pen Test wrote. “Whether or not the sticker provides £300 worth of quantum holographic catalyzer technology we’ll leave you to decide.”
Pen Test Partners said that “trading standards bodies should investigate this product,” and that is apparently now happening. “London Trading Standards has since told the BBC it has launched a probe,” the BBC article said.

Company says research too sensitive to disclose
How will the company defend itself? BioShield Distribution Director Anna Grochowalska told the BBC, “We are in possession of a great deal of technical information, with plenty of back-up historical research,” and “we are not authorized to fully disclose all this sensitive information to third parties, for obvious reasons.”
Grochowalska also disputed the analysis that the USB stick is worth just ÂŁ5:
“In regard to the costs analysis your research has produced, I believe that the lack of in-depth information will not drive you to the exact computation of our expenses and production costs, including the cost of IP [intellectual property rights], and so on,” she said.
“It is therefore hard to take your evaluation seriously, since you have evidently not researched the background facts in any meaningful way.”
One person who does take 5GBioShield claims seriously is Toby Hall, one of the members of the Glastonbury Town Council’s 5G Advisory Committee. Hall told the BBC that he “felt a ‘calmer’ feel to the home” when using 5GBioShield. Hall said “he had no regrets about buying it and since plugging it in had felt beneficial effects, including being able to sleep through the night and having more dreams,” the BBC wrote.
Hall also “thought the company might be able to develop a system that could offer protection to the whole town of Glastonbury against the effects of radiation from electromagnetic fields,” according to the BBC.
Anti-5G conspiracy theories recently expanded to include claims that the cellular technology spreads coronavirus, leading to loons burning cell towers. As Ars Science Editor John Timmer explained in a previous story, “Radiofrequency radiation is relatively low energy, and it can’t break chemical bonds. Like the nearby microwave frequencies, it can heat tissues. But we’re not aware of any mechanisms beyond heating by which radiation at these wavelengths can damage human tissue. And
 there’s no evidence at the population level that indicates that radiation from these sources poses any sort of risk.”
5GBioShield “normalized my energy”
The 5GBioShield website contains a list of testimonials from people who allegedly exist and are using the product to cure all sorts of health problems. “Thank you soo much !!! After just three days of the BioShield in my house, my brain fog and fatigue are gone, and I feel like I have 100% more energy,” a testimonial from “Edward” said.
“I don’t know if it is a placebo effect or not, but I have a growing feeling of well being that comes directly from my instinctual survival drive deep in my belly center,” Jim wrote.
Although the product maker says the device works without being plugged in, some of its users seem to think otherwise. “One minute and a half after I plugged it [in], I felt something wrong disappeared in the air,” Daniela wrote.
Chris, who called 5GBioShield an “incredible product,” is quoted as saying, “I noticed my field reaching coherence and eliminating the frantic energy. Most importantly it has enabled me to access a higher vibration and help the pineal gland. I am more intentional, and in touch with others on a non verbal level. Where I live there is wifi and 4-g everywhere, and your bio shield is making it bearable. All of you who have developed this have done an incalculable service to humanity.”
Trust Dr D
Someone identified only as “Dr D” claims to be a medical doctor and said they “put one USB device under my pillow, expecting nothing to happen.” But later, Dr D reported feeling “a strange ‘tingling’ feeling
 I suspect the USB device has in some way normalized my energy to be as it should, and not negative or harmful.”
5GBioShield can also help dogs sleep in later, apparently. Cathy, who reports having “severe electro sensitivity,” plugged the USB stick into her laptop before going to bed and said, “The next morning the dog I was looking after only woke when I appeared at 10am, instead of between 6 and 7, and he was still sleepy. This has never happened in the 7 years I’ve known him.”
Cathy herself was profoundly affected by the 5GBioShield, saying that the product restructured reality itself. “The first night just before going to sleep I felt an increasingly deep sense of relaxation as if I was sinking down into something,” Cathy wrote. “As this went deeper I experienced the understanding that reality was being restructured at a very deep level.”

A Layman’s Guide to Data Science. Part 2: How to Build a Data Project

It is quite often that in our blog we explore intricate connections between state-of-the-art technologies, or explore the mesmerizing depth of a new technique. However, AI or data science is not only bragging about new exciting methods that boost the accuracy by 2% (which is a big gain), but about making data and technology work for you. It will help you increase sales, understand your customers, predict future faults in process lines, or make an insightful presentation, submit a term project or have a good time with your friends working on a new idea that will change the world. And in this sense, everyone can — and to some extent should — become a data scientist.
We already discussed what makes a good data scientist and what you should learn before you set to a real project. In this post, we’ll walk you through the process of building a backbone data project in simple steps.

Find a story behind an idea
You have an excellent idea in your head — the one you have cherished since you were a child about having an toys-cleaning robot or the one that just came into your mind about accessing the customers in your shop by sending them fortune cookies with predictions based on their purchase preferences. However, to make your idea work you need the attention of others. Find a compelling narrative for it; make sure that it has a hook or a captivating purpose, that it is up-to-date and relevant. Finding the narrative structure will help you decide whether you actually have a story to tell.
Such narrative will be the basis for your business model. Ask yourself: What is it that you develop, what resources do you need, and what value do you provide to the customer? For what values are customers going to pay?
A nice way to do this is the business model canvas. It’s simple and cheap, you can create it on a sheet of paper.

Prepare the data
The first practical step is collecting data to fuel your project. Depending on your field and goals, you can search for ready datasets available on the Internet, such as, for example, this collection. You can choose to scrape data from websites or access data from social networks through public API’s. For the latter option, you need to write a small program that can download data from social networks in a programming language you feel the most comfortable with. For the cloud option, you can spin up a simple AWS EC2 Linux instance (nano or micro), and run your software on in.
The best way to store the data is to use a simple .csv format with each line including the text and meta information, such as the person, timestamp, replies, and likes.
As to the amount of data needed, the rule of the thumb is to get as much data as possible in a reasonable time, for example, a few days of running your program. Another important consideration is to collect as much data as the machine you are using for analytics can handle. How much data to get is not an exact science, but it rather depends on the technical limitations and the question you have.
Finally, in collecting and managing data it is crucial to be devoid of bias and do not be selective about inclusion of exclusion of data. This selectivity includes using discrete values when the data is continuous; how you deal with missing, outlier and out of range values; arbitrary temporal ranges; capped values, volumes, ranges, and intervals. Even if it is arguing to influence, it should be based upon what the data says–not what you want it to say.

Choose the right tools 
To perform a valid analysis, you need to find the proper tools. After getting the data you need to select the proper tool to explore it. To make a choice, you can write down a list of analytics features you think you need and compare available tools. Sometimes you can use user-friendly graphical tools like Orange, Rapid Miner or Knime. In other cases, you’ll have to write the analysis on your own with such languages as Python or R.

Prove your theory
With the data and tools available, you can prove your theory. In Data Science, theories are statements of how the world should be or is, and are derived from axioms that are assumptions about the world, or precedent theories (Das, 2013). Models are implementations of the theory; in data science, they are often algorithms based on theories that are run on data. The results of running a model lead to a deeper understanding of the world based on theory, model, and data.
To assess your theory at an initial step, in line with the more general and conventional content analysis, you can pinpoint trends present in the data. One way we use quite a lot is to select significant events that have been reported. Then you can try to create an analytics process that finds these trends. If analytics can find the trends you specified, then you are on the right track. Look for instances where analytics finds new trends. Confirm these trends, for instance by searching the internet. The results are not going to be reliable 100% of the time, so you’ll need to decide how many falsely reported trends (the error rate) you want to tolerate.

Build a minimum viable product
When you have your business model and a proven theory, it is time to build the first version of your product, the so-called minimum viable product (MVP). Basically this can be the first version that you offer to customers. As a minimum viable product (MVP) is a product with just enough features to satisfy early customers, and to provide feedback for future development, it should focus only on the core functionality without any fancy solutions. You should stick to simple functions that will work in the beginning and expand your system later. At this stage, the system could look something like this:

Automate your system
In principle, your focus should be on the future development of your product, not on a system operation. For this, you need to automate as much as possible: uploading to S3, starting the analysis, or data storing. In this article we discussed automation in more detail.
The other face of automation is logging. When everything is automated you can feel that you are losing control over your system and do not know how it performs. Besides, you need to know what to develop next, both in terms of new features and fixing problems. For this, you need to set up a system for logging, monitoring and measuring all meaningful data. For instance, you should log statistics for the download of your data or upload to S3, the time of the analytics process and the users’ behavior.
There are multiple tools to help you log server statistics like CPU, RAM, network, code level performance, and error monitoring, many of them having a user-friendly interface.

Reiterate and expand
You probably know that AI, Machine Learning, Data Science and other new developments are all about reiteration and fine-tuning. So, when you have your MVP running, automation and monitoring in place, you can start enhancing your system. It is time to get rid of weaknesses, optimize the overall performance and stability, and add new functions. Implementing new features will also allow you to offer new services or products.

Present your product
Finally, when your product is ready, you need to present it to the customers. This is where your story behind the data and business model come to help.
First of all, think about your target audience. Who are your customers and how are you going to sell your product to them? What does the audience you are going to present your product to know about the topic? The story needs to be framed around the level of information the audience already has, correct and incorrect:
Novice: first exposure to the subject, but doesn’t want oversimplification
Generalist: aware of the topic, but looking for an overview understanding and major themes
Managerial: in-depth, actionable understanding of intricacies and interrelationships with access to detail
Expert: more exploration and discovery and less storytelling with great detail
Executive: only has time to glean the significance and conclusions of weighted probabilities
Afterwards, visualize your data and incorporate trends, significance and proportion you built your project into a narrative. Your story about the product should never end with a fixed event, but rather a set of options or questions to trigger an action from the audience. Never forget that the goal of data storytelling is to encourage and energize critical thinking for business decisions or to purchasing your product.

OTHER SIDE OF DREAM (Dream seen in night for cancer cure medicine.)

SOME DREAM LEADS TO SOLUTION: For the last 15 years, now my age is 31, I cannot say the exact time, but I have been relying on dream to get solutions of some specific day-to-day problems. Sometimes I get messages, lessons, even travelling exotic destinations in dream at night; and directly or indirectly I got solutions to come out from the network of the problem. Still I enjoy dream in night. Sometimes I saw God in night in my school days, now I don’t see maybe I less think of God than my work.
However one can hardly imagine the wonders of dream, its effects and power on the other side. Literally one has to believe what the dream says in real life. One has to hold the dream tight otherwise it will go forever in life from memory. Sometimes it is a message for mankind, but once it’s lost, it’s lost. One has committed crime thereby otherwise that dream could have been helpful for solving many unanswered quests that hitherto has not been solved by anyone on planet.
In fact attitude plays the crucial role for preserving the dream at the same time one should be positive to look positive in dream. Positive attitude does not mean that you would dream what one has expected. Obviously one can expect ways based on the implementation of all ways to find the accurate solutions of the real life problem.
Once again I want to say since when I have been depending on the dream I don’t know but I can say the story of Kekule, renowned scientist who invented the structure of benzene ring, an aromatic compound. Once Kekule could not find out the structure of the benzene. A dream of a snake biting its tail led to the benzene structure of today that our science students know better than me. The term ‘serendipity’ I learnt in school days. I memorized its definition. Anyhow knowing dream can do find solution for a scientist, with practical experience too, I have been getting help sort of the problem and so I have been habituated to rely on dream for any complex solution. So I dream always even APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India insisted everyone to see big dream but not in night dream. He said once Dream that let you not sleep in night. And I have made my life a principle ‘Dream Big. Do Big.’ To do big in life one should have DARE to DREAM BIG. If one has dared to dream big he will try to DO BIG in life. Sometime one may not do too depending upon the choice and behavior instead one has to.
DREAM SHARING FOR SCIENTIST: It’s an early morning dream of around 4 AM for scientist can think of it. People like us cannot think about the depth of the dream. It’s the day of digitalization and future goes for celestialisation. Interaction with alien being is the dream of entire human race in truth and real. It’s all can be possible depending upon the foundation of human race free from conflict and violation and time will guide where human civilization can race which dimly can be comprehended today. In spite of that rare morning dream, I take into account, it can be pool of ideas to scientists in the immediate future (as non technical I am unaware of progress done today) that there is light beyond darkness in the cure of cancer.
MAN SAID IN DREAM: I saw a man familiar to me spoke to a group of people in a meeting: Our doctors do not recommend the appropriate quantity of existing drugs to cancer patients. They delay the dosages. By the time the disease becomes violent enough to be controlled.
Later on I came to know in dream he was a Lab Assistant .He also said some sort of structure of ‘gene’ I could not understand in the time of narration by the Lab Assistant in dream. In the morning after deep thought I could think out it is ‘helical structure of DNA ’- if I am true. He also made aware us that during the time of DNA replication process right quantity of dosage (not more or less), strictly to be maintained. Then only the medicine will reach the site of infection to inhibit the replication process thereby it can stop the uncontrolled division of cancerous cells or it can slow down the process.
LANDMARK MESSAGE OF DREAM: Following are the messages of the dream: 1. Cancer can be cured; 2. Already existing cancer medicine can cure; 3. No much expenditure required for research; 4. Importance of dosages should be found out otherwise over dosage will cause complication and lesser will not stop cancerous growth; 5. New breakthroughs to come out to reach the site of infections in time (for which patients still not being cured); 6. Cancer can be cured with genetic engineering by inhibiting DNA structure replication (if I am able to say you right); 7. Cancer patients are not being cured even by existing drugs because of the inappropriate quantity of drugs given. May be more research to be done on dosage schedule; 8. Immediate sorting out of the specific drug which needs special dosage schedule for inhibition of DNA replication; 9. Can technology called ‘Nano’ play a spearheading role in curing the disease in the future?
FINAL WORD: As I have said it’s a dream, some may laugh it, and I want it a joke, let someone can laugh on me, I welcome it too, but I want to share it to show a light to our respected scientists fraternity that they can take idea if the dream is having some base for the ongoing research in different laboratories in world. Its written complete lack of knowledge on Pharmaceutical and Medical Knowledge. In spite of all I think this dream can be of some significance which may sometime become reality in future. The dream will enable scientists to set another milestone about the dosage formulation of some specific existing drugs which may be of reason the drug is not showing precise result and cancer patients are not cured.
Innovation of dosage scheduled time and again said by unknown Lab Assistant catering care of the side-effects of the amount of the dosages. The dream emphasizes a catalytic role against the bane of mankind. Again in the end I ask myself: Can cancer be cured? How long it will take to cure? Many patients are seen cured for many reason even it needs sheer determination spending all saved deposits. I am not saying that I say how it can be cured just like common cold, fever and other common curable diseases.
Hopefully this dream is a deposit for mankind somewhere I kept unused in showcase (for a decade) for many who may need for further research. However value of dream – let it be a night dream- one cannot ignore permanently at least it gives an idea to think for tomorrows to keep people CANCER FEAR FREE life in the immediate future.
