Top 10 luxury hotels in Vietnam
It is amazing how things can change in half a century. After World War II, decades of war, political upheaval, and social conflict were all anyone thought of when you mentioned any of the countries in Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam. But here we are, in the twenty-first century, and Vietnam has made leaps and bounds in their development to now become a pristine vacation location for people around the world.
Due in part to their limited export capacity, Vietnam’s economy is heavily reliant on the tourism industry these days. This means they understand that getting visitors into the country is paramount, and offering them an unsurpassed stay is the key to getting them to come back. Because of this, Vietnamese luxury hotels have become world-renowned for their unique experiences and fantastic service that will leave you wanting to come back again and again. So before you book your flight, have a look at these top ten luxury hotels in this ancient land of culture and beauty.
1. Amanoi, Vinh Hy Village
This resort is the hidden jewel of Vinh Hy Bay, tucked into tumbling jungles and surrounded by crystal-clear waters along 32 km of pristine coastline. They feature three different accommodation styles; villas, residencies, and spa houses. The spa houses are world-renowned, even earning the title of “Best Spa for Wellness” in Harper’s Bazaar Travel Guide to the 100 Greatest Hotels in the World.
They feature a variety of packages that can be tailored to fit your personal style. Want to spend your luxury vacation enjoying nothing but spa treatments and good food? They have it. Want to experience the culture and wonder of Indochina? They’ve got you covered. Want to merely sit and relax in the untouched majesty of nature? Your wish is their command. Dining in this resort has several experiences in and of itself. They provide ancient and contemporary Vietnamese dishes cooked both in the restaurant or served to you beach-side with a flute of champagne. Specialties include braised abalone with shiitake mushrooms, whole live crab fried with tamarind sauce, fresh spring rolls with shrimp and pork, and grilled beef in bamboo. And to top it off, every herb they use in the resort is grown in their own garden.
2. InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Danang
This hotel is built around lush gardens, a private beach, is inspired by Vietnamese temples and traditional villages in its blended designs. The hotel itself boasts a classy stay in one of their world-renowned rooms, classic suites, or executive rooms. But even the standard room in this hotel boasts a balcony view of the East Sea and incredible Vietnamese architecture, and they start at around $500 US dollars a night.
In addition to immaculate suites, this resort boasts access to some of the finest restaurants in the country. Treat yourself to an experience at La Maison 1888, where your tastebuds will be caressed by the artistry of three-star Michelin chef, Pierre Gagnaire. You can also take advantages of the many spa treatments available at this location, including the HARNN Heritage Spa or partake in the ultimate pedicure regimen by world renowned posiatrist, Bastien Gonzalez.
3. Sofitel Legend Metropol, Hanoi
Like the city of Hanoi itself, this first-class hotel is designed to reflect the colorful tradition of the city’s history as well as the modern elegance first-class travel requires. The resort is mere steps away from the Old Opera House in Hanoi’s historic and vibrant French Quarter, bathing you in the opulence of the Era of Empires while also immersing you in local artistic culture, Vietnamese cuisine and dream-like architecture that includes the original wrought iron details and stately wood paneling residing through over a century of history. Stays begin at around $250 US.
4. The Reverie Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City
This hotel is best known for its incredible hospitality and absolutely stunning list of services offered during your stay here. From spa getaway suites to expensive luxury car chauffeuring services, the Reverie has thought of nearly everything. And with luxury suites starting in the $600 ballpark, it’s easy to see why this is such a popular destination. And don’t even get us started on the food; the acclaimed Reverie Lounge and dozens of high end traditional and international restaurants will leave you with an experience that will last you a lifetime, and yet leave you wanting to come back for more.
5. Park Hyatt Saigon, Hồ Chí Minh
Shifting gears, the urban luxury in Ho Chi Minh is no better experience than in the Park Hyatt Saigon hotel. The hotel has 245 rooms including 23 suites, which recently underwent a complete upgrade to French-colonial style rooms that combine elegant, traditional “old-world” comfort with the latest in technology, including in-room mini iPads, Nespresso machines, and sensor lighting systems. The Suites are large and spacious, perfect for making an extended stay as comfortable as is humanly possible.
The Hyatt’s signature restaurant, Square One, features authentic Vietnamese and French cuisine, while Opera offers traditional Italian dishes prepared in a large open kitchen. If the nightlife is what you crave, the 2 Lam Son brags itself the liveliest nightspot in Ho Chi Minh City. Even the Lounge is alive with local live musicians several nights of the week.
6. The Nam Hai Four Seasons Resort, Hoi An
Ideally located in Vietnam’s rich central coast, The Nam Hai offers a portal to some of the most popular and celebrated beaches in this coastal country. They offer sunsets on the East Sea by kayak, historic trips of imperial Hue and world-class restaurants in the area. Their villas are proclaimed as the best in central Vietnam and a stay in this exotic utopia starts at only around $700 US. The Four Seasons is also known for its fantastic culinary options and state of the art luxury dining facilities.
7. Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Khanh Hoa Province
The dramatic rocky bay of Van Bay in Khanh Hoa gives visitors to the Six Senses the sense that they are on an island unto themselves. The secluded nature of this tropical paradise includes such experiences as the renowned sauna and fitness center, playing tennis, volleyball or badminton, and long mountain walks around the bay area. They also specialize in watersports such as scuba diving, paddle boarding, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, waterskiing, tubing, and even fishing charters. From the front desk, you can also schedule an excursion into Nha Trang City for a tour or take a guided trip to the Cai River and Mud Baths nearby. Also available are world-class restaurants and spa treatments
8. Anantara Quy Nhon Villas, Bình Định
Touted as one of the “finest beach resorts in Vietnam”, Anantara is a paradise surrounded by mountains on three sides and overlooking the Bay of Quy Nhon, one of the world’s most beautiful beach fronts. With only 26 villas dotting the lush landscape, it’s no wonder a stay at Anantara is one of the most sought after reservations in Indochina. With full-service butlers, four-hand massages, ancient local ruins, and traditional fisherman’s villages, there’s plenty to do and be pampered by in this corner of the jungle. The cuisine is also incredible, featuring restaurants serving you experiences in local seafood, gourmet street eats, traditional hot pot grilling and island picnics on the surrounding uninhabited islands.
9. Six Senses Con Dao, Vũng Tàu
For those of you looking for sustainable opulence, look no further than Six Senses Con Dao, another premier location for the discerning luxury stay. This remote, secluded island has many things the mainland just cannot offer, like the protected national and marine park that surround this remote archipelago. With pristine villas designed to mimic a traditional fishing village, this spa getaway is a vacation you don’t want to miss out on starting at $600 US per night.
Cuisine in the area includes Vietnamese by the Market, an immersive experience featuring traditional local flavors. By the Beach is the resort’s official seafood restaurant sporting a panoramic ocean view and continual sea breezes. Outings and activities include touring the islands around the hotel, paddleboarding the natural reef, and guided scuba diving outings.
10. Anantara Hoi An Resort, Quảng Nam
Another location steeped in tradition and history, Anantara Hoi An Resort is less than a kilometer from the historic quarter of Hoi An, in lush gardens fronting the Thu Bon River. Riverfront dining, blissful spa treatments, and sunset river cruises along the river are only a couple of the things this enticing resort has in store for its guests. Enjoy the views as you saunter down the promenade past shrines, modern art galleries, teahouses, and small cafes, An Bang Beach, one of the country’s most famous beach fonts, is just down the way from the resort’s own private jetty. Whether you plan on spending the day in one of their elegant 93 rooms or venturing out to see all that Hoi An has to offer, Anantara Hoi An is a fantastic option.
Now you can begin planning your dream vacation to the mysterious lands of the Orient. Whether your personal taste resides in the simple pleasures of a spa secluded in nature or a highrise, state of the art suite in the city, Vietnam has a luxury destination just waiting for you.

Finance: This 26-year-old quit her law degree to start a luxury concierge club for bloggers and students — and now has 500 members paying up to £400 a month
Aileen Gilani ditched her law postgraduate degree in London to dedicate herself to the lavish lifestyles lived by the wealthy students around her. The result is a pricey online subscription services with perks like gym memberships and Michelin-starred meals.
26-year-old Aileen Gilani quit her law degree to launch The Luxury Student.
It's a digital private members club and concierge service targeted at wealthy students and bloggers living in London.
Packages start at £20 a month and go up to £400 for a Platinum package.
There's no application form and anyone can apply.
The only request she has is that members love the luxury industry — and that they post about the service on Instagram.
Even when she was a student, 26-year-old Aileen Gilani spent money in a different way to her peers.
"So many times students were partying and going to clubs and I was getting a blow dry," she told Business Insider.
Gilani originally studied International Hospitality Management at Oxford Brookes University for four years. During her time there, she completed a placement working next to the concierge at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.
Soon after graduating, she went into a post-graduate degree in law and was surrounded by "a lot of wealthy international students."
"I wouldn't say I was a wealthy student, but I did love the luxury industry," she said. "I did understand why other students would spend that much on a Chanel bag."
Having realised she had a creative edge, half way through her degree she launched a blog called The Luxury Student, catering to this world of youngsters.
"I realised there was so much potential in creating a career out of it as well," she said. "I was quite curious to see how that would work."
Through LinkedIn, she found a mentor in entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Eric Peacock.
"After a couple of meetings here and there, he thought I had something interesting, exciting and different," she said. "He said, stop what you're doing now with law education, and focus on this."
She felt like she was already a few steps behind in the blogging world, where the successful bloggers have millions of followers.
So instead, she built a blogger platform.
"I had about 20 different bloggers — from [the likes of Kuwait and Australia] — who I found on Instagram," she said.
"I realised there was a boom in the blogger community, [and it was] the perfect type of market research."
Targeting wealthy students and bloggers
The 20 bloggers writing for her platform were all students, and she realised there was a market for wealthy students who can afford a luxury lifestyle.
"Or if they can't afford it they'll save money and choose to spend it on something more luxurious," she said.
Inspired by her brief experience working with the hotel concierge, she quit her law degree and spent most of 2017 transforming her blog, then relaunched it in September as a digital private members club and concierge service.
"There wasn't really a concierge service out there that catered to the luxury student or blogger," she said. "Both are such brilliant target markets."
Now, The Luxury Student has around 500 members, according to Gilani, and a number of membership choices.
The two main ones are standard, which is £50 a month, and events only, which is £20 a month.
"What I call the standard lifestyle membership has everything involved," Gilani said. "We say the minute you wake up to the minute you go back to bed we want to make sure you have a good lifestyle."
Every new member receives a Nespresso machine, thanks to a partnership with the brand.
Members have access to a PA/virtual assistant service...
...and they get invitations to in-store events.
They have access to exclusive clubs like Albert's Club in South Kensington, as well as priority booking and drinks deals at restaurants like Quaglinos in Mayfair.
Members also get to use Urbanologie, an invitation-only luxury lifestyle app for high net worth individuals...
...and through The Luxury Student's partnership with Quintessentially Travel they can make travel arrangements — a service that would normally be for Quintessentially members only and would cost £100, according to Gilani.
"Even towards late evening there's the concierge service for night clubs, booking tables, [and] passes to different night clubs around London," she added.
The less popular events-only membership, meanwhile, gives members the opportunity to go to monthly social drinks and in-store event but without the services listed above.
Michelin-starred meals and members' club access
There's also the lesser-known Platinum membership, which comes in a whopping £400 a month.
"It's very bespoke, we tailor it to the individual," she said. One feature for a Premium member so far has been full access to the South Kensington Club, which has its own spa and gym. For someone more into art, it has included an annual membership to the V&A.
It also apparently comes with a complimentary Michelin-starred meal for two every month.
"We rarely promote it becuase it’s even more niche than what we already have," Gilani said.
She added that with each package, there are new offers and partnerships every month.
The company is currently exploring fitness discount options with the likes of Barry's Bootcamp and yoga studios, and has also partnered with the trendy Salon 64 in Soho to give all members a complimentary blow dry or cut on their birthday.
"Our special offer for May is a complimentary blogger photoshoot, which is very trendy, very current," Gilani added.
"Many of the students that are members are trying to become professional bloggers."
She added that the site has organically attracted influencers and bloggers — and that despite the name, you don't have to be a student to join.
"We've opened it up," she said. "It was originally targeted to students, [but it's] also open to bloggers who are part-time or recently graduated.
"We don’t have any application form," she added. "We don’t want to intimidate [people] before they sign up."
Once a member registers, they are asked to create a profile answering questions about things like where they dine, where they travel, and where they shop.
All the company asked is that if you join, you truly appreciate the luxury industry.
"Whether you like to purchase products and services or you want to have a career in the industry, [you need] a genuine reason to join," she said.
"We don’t actually target anyone specific, we just want people to enjoy the industry."
Creating content for Instagram
The one other ask is that members have open Instagram accounts so they can share what they’re up to with their followers, tagging The Luxury Student all the while.
"Everyone has their own motive for using our membership, [but we] try to make it fun and Instagram-friendly," she said. "It gives people another way of creating content."
And some members certainly think outside the box.
While one impossible request involved writing an essay or dissertation on behalf of a member — "we will not be involved in any form of plagiarism," Gilani said — more extravagant demands have included getting members free private jet seats or a signed designer handbag.
"We try to make it clear what you have complimentary," she added. "We don't give people free holidays or free private jet seats."
Currently, Gilani is running the business solo alongside a PR agency, partners, and brand ambassadors at universities across London.
"It’s a very small team but it’s worked well that way," she said.
"We try to make it not so painful to enjoy the luxury lifestyle — we still want it to be accessible."

The Juicero Was A Terrible Idea That Became A Money-Losing Business
No matter how much you like cold-pressed juice, it was hard to make an argument for actually buying the Juicero, a WiFi-connected juicer. When the product first went on the market, it cost $699 for a machine that turned proprietary, barcoded fresh fruit and vegetable packets into juice. Now Juicero is going out of business, and these machines will likely become pricey doorstops.
Seemed like a bad idea at the time
Let’s back up, since you may not have heard of the Juicero. It’s a cold-pressed juice machine, but with a catch: The machine only worked with Juicero’s own packets of diced produce, which in turn only worked with Juicero’s machine. If a packet was expired, the WiFi-connected juicer wouldn’t let you use it.
There were two arguments for this, other than creating an indefinite revenue stream for Juicero the company. First was ease of cleanup: It’s much easier to clean and maintain a juicer that doesn’t actually come in contact with or crush the produce. Second, Juicero wanted control over the produce that customers used, ensuring that they used only fresh and organic fruits and vegetables in pre-determined recipes.
Founder and original CEO Doug Evans explained in an interview with Recode that the device used WiFi to make sure that produce was fresh.
“For me as a consumer I want to know where my produce is coming from, I want to know when it’s packed, and I want to know when it’s expired,” he explained. “So inside of the Juicero press there’s a scanner and on every pack of produce there’s a QR code… it’s making sure the produce is not expired.”
But having a barcode-controlled juicer meant that customers couldn’t throw in, say, even fresher spinach and carrots from their own garden or community-supported agriculture share.
As if the idea of DRM-controlled fruit and vegetable packets weren’t already ridiculous enough, reporters at Bloomberg pointed out that you don’t need the device to extract juice from the packets. The mechanism that extracts the juice is actually in the packet, even though the company talked up the juicer itself as extremely powerful.
This was a product for people who don’t take their juice too seriously, yet somehow also take it seriously enough to receive proprietary produce shipments and pay $700 for a juicer.
There was a market for this product, but it was a small one. Whole Foods stores incorporated them into DIY juice bars, and some Le Pain Quotidien restaurants added them as an easy way to sell pricey cold-pressed juice to customers. LiveNation put machines in its offices, like an incredibly health-conscious break room Keurig.
How did this even get funded?
Investors in Silicon Valley thought that Juicero was an awesome idea. It was similar enough to successful products like Nespresso, Keurig, and even Dollar Shave Club: Customers make an initial purchase that leads to indefinite purchases of supplies from the company.
“Investors are very intrigued by businesses that combine the one-time sale of hardware that ends up leading to repeat purchases of consumable packages,” one investor, who didn’t fund Juicero, explained to Bloomberg.
The company drew investors like the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, Google parent Alphabet, and basketball star Kobe Bryant.
Foudner Evans also started the well-regarded “boutique health food store” Organic Avenue, and was so devoted to plant-based and raw nutrition that he reportedly ridiculed workers at Juicero who ate dairy products, and briefly would only let traveling employees expense meals at vegan restaurants. Evans later stepped down as CEO and has now even resigned from Juicero’s board.
The end
The company made pricey products with a limited market, and didn’t actually make money. The company lowered the price to $400 and offered refunds on machines after Bloomberg’s story about hand-squeezing packets, but was still losing $4 million per month at the end of this year. New potential investors backed out after the Bloomberg story.
Juicero announced that it would be closing just as reporters and businesses across the country prepared to shut down for the Labor Day holiday. It will give customers their money back if they want refunds.
“Creating an effective manufacturing and distribution system for a nationwide customer base requires infrastructure that we cannot achieve on our own as a standalone business,” the company says in its “goodbye for now” message on its website. “We are confident that to truly have the long-term impact we want to make, we need to focus on finding an acquirer with an existing national fresh food supply chain who can carry forward the Juicero mission.”
The intellectual property, like patents, could be valuable, and the brand has some happy customers. Whole Foods or its new parent company Amazon would be an obvious candidate to acquire the company, or another organic restaurant or grocery chain. Will that happen? We’ll keep you updated.

Luxury and Nature Intertwine at Amorita Resort Bohol
Amorita Resort in Panglao, Bohol is one of the most talked about luxury resorts here in the Philippines. I often see colorful pictures of this place in magazines or travel blogs, but since I don’t travel to Bohol quite often as compared to Boracay, I wasn’t sure if I would be able visit it at all. So when I was invited to attend the recent Air Asia Santan Launch in Amorita Resort itself (Read: Air Asia Santan Offers Gourmet Meals in the Sky), I grabbed the opportunity and was left in awe of this majestic resort.
Amorita Resort is a tranquil seaside retreat perched atop a limestone cliff on the southern edge of Bohol’s Panglao Island. Tourists and locals usually flock to Panglao because of its unspoiled beauty featuring limestones, shimmering blue waters, pristine white sand, and lush tracts of greenery. While there are numerous resorts that have opened along the popular Alona Beach, the area still retains its natural allure, which is probably a throwback of Boracay as it was 10 to 15 years ago. The magazine photos did not lie, because Amorita Resort is even more impressive in person.
We were picked up from the Tagbilaran Airport after our early morning flight courtesy of Air Asia. The ride from Manila to Bohol took one hour and thirty minutes and the shuttle ride to Panglao another thirty minutes. Amorita Resort is managed by the boutique hotel group One-Of Collection, which is also in charge of Momo Beach Club in Panglao, and two other resorts in Dumaguete and Palawan.
Amorita Resort integrates key elements of the surrounding environment to create a distinct island ambience and organic modern aesthetic. Luxury intertwines with nature as guests enjoy all the amenities and services the resort has to offer. Amorita actually means “little darling” and this boutique resort has that sophisticated charm that makes it one of the best hideaways in Bohol. It was recently awarded by Conde Nast Johansens Excellence Awards 2017 as Best in Service, while also being a regular Traveller’s Choice Awardee for Trip Advisor.
The resort has two infinity pools with stunning cliff-side views of the Bohol sea, one in front of the lobby and another near Saffron restaurant. The Cliff Deck has lounge chairs to enjoy spectacular sunset views over Alona Beach, which is just a stone’s throw away from the resort.
We checked in to our Junior Suite which can be found on the garden floor. My roommate for the trip was Yedy of Yedylicious.com, one of my fellow KTG food bloggers who joined the activity. The Junior Suite has 40 square meters of comfortable space. The interiors are minimalist but with a combination of different textures.
The suite comes with either 1 king bed or 2 double beds. I love the wooden and cement fixtures blending together with the lush greenery and natural surroundings. The design looks Asian-inspired with a wooden divider seperating the beds and bathroom. You can definitely spend idle days here and come out with a refreshed and renewed spirit.
Aside from the flat-screen cable TV and Loudbasstard sound amplifier, the room also provides a hair dryer, in-room safe, and complimentary WiFi. Rainfall shower and eco-friendly bath amenities like organic soap and shampoo are also part of its charming setting.
We were welcomed with a delicious set of fresh fruit juices and canapes inside our room which is just part of their complimentary mini bar. They also have turndown service and chocolates that will make your night even sweeter. I love all these little extras that really make vacations more enjoyable.
The Junior Suites that are located on the ground floor have their own mini patio and garden entrance seperate from the main door. This makes it very accesible going to the restaurant and beach, plus it offers a tranquil view of the garden. The suites on the higher floors, on the other hand, have a day bed and veranda.
For those that want more space, the One Bedroom Suite could be a better option. This luxurious suite has a generous 80 square meters with 1 king bed and a spacious bathroom with bath tub. It also has 2 day beds at its elegant living room which double as extra beds for 2 additional guests, plus a dining area to enjoy room service meals. Aside from the complimentary minibar, you can also find a Nespresso machine for those quick coffee fixes. A private balcony overlooks the resort’s lush tropical landscape.
But the best places to stay at Amorita Resort are their luxurious villas. The Garden Villa comes with a huge 120 square meters which includes a king-sized bed and all the amenities and creature comforts you can find in the other suites.
You can spend time relaxing inside the gorgeous marble bathroom, but the highlight of the Garden Villa is its own plunge pool and patio in the garden area. Now this is what a luxury vacation should be. Guests can wake up in the morning and head straight to the pool even before breakfast.
They also offer the Ocean Villa which is similar to the Garden Villa but with its plunge pool and patio overlooking the breathtaking Bohol Sea.
Amorita Resort offers a couple of dining options that will make any foodie happy. Saffron Restaurant is their all-day dining cafe inspired by the seasons and specialties in Bohol. It offers a thoughtful reinterpretation of Boholano heritage cuisine, alongside a wide range of Continental and Filipino favorites.
Saffron’s al fresco dining areas faces one of the resort’s picturesque infinity pools. This is also where breakfast buffet is served for guests, which starts at 6:00am and ends at 10:00am.
They have a delicious selection of cheeses, hams, breads, and pastries together with breakfast staples such as bacon, eggs, and garlic rice.
A la carte options are also available for lunch and dinner featuring local and Asian dishes.
The dinner buffet at Saffron restaurant is highly recommended, especially after a tiring and adventurous afternoon. One of my favorite items was the Twice Cooked Pork Belly with its meaty and flavorful pork.
There are many other savory dishes at the dinner buffet including Pork and Shrimp Spring Rolls, Vegetable Tempura, Chicken Pandan, Beef Bulgogi, and Gambas.
The restaurant even offers my favorite dessert, Chocolate Mousse! My foodie friends know how fond I am of this sweet treat and I always finish a lot of them, even before I am done with my main courses. Saffron also has an excellent selection of wines, signature cocktails, and gourmet beverages to pair with their buffets.
Guests and families can spend the entire day at Amorita Resort and never run out of fun activities. Children can enjoy spending time at the playground or have a round of foozball in the play area. Sea Explorers, their in-house PADI dive center, offers open-water and advanced diving certification courses, as well as dive tours to licensed scuba-divers. Amorita Resort’s Sea Tree Spa offers an exclusive range of treatments from authentic Filipino massage therapies to rejuvenating Asian healing rituals. Complimentary Yoga sessions are also offered at 7:00am every Tuesday and Saturday, while guests can also use the gym with treadmill, stationary bikes, cross trainer and weights.
The cliffside resort’s best feature is probably its proximity to Alona Beach, which can be accessed with just a few steps down the pathway. This public beach is where most of the locals and tourists gather for water sports and activities like kayaking and stand-up paddle-boarding. These activities are complimentary for Amorita Resort guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
For those who want a little more privacy, they can go to Amorita Resort’s own Secret Beach which is hidden away from the public eye. This private beach cove lets guests enjoy the waters of Bohol in a more serene and calm environment. Guests can also snorkel at the resort’s own marine sanctuary just a few meters away from the beach, which is also a great place for underwater photography. Otherwise, a side trip to Momo Beach House, Amorita’s chill sister beach resort, is also an option.
If you are looking for a little more excitement and energy, head over to Tomar Tapas x Bar located just above Saffron Restaurant. It offers classic tapas, paellas and pintxos that has been a staple of Spanish cuisine and gives it both a local and modern touch.
During one of our nights at Amorita Resort, we drank and dined at Tomar Tapas x Bar and enjoyed their selection of tapas. Some of the favorites were the Chorizo a la Vino (P250) which is cooked in wine, and the Patatas Bravas (P150), a bestseller with its deep fried potato and spicy tomato aioli.
The Paella Negra (P650) was a crowd pleaser with its shrimp, calamari, scallop and aioli topped on a mean-looking paella plate. We also tried the Paella Valenciana (P680) which is a more familiar type of paella with chicken, pork, tenderloin, chorizo, bilbao, sofrito and saffron.
Other delectable items included the Gambas (P220) with its garlic sauteed prawns with paprika and olive oil. The Chopitos (P150) were also a big hit with its batter fried baby squid, and the churros was also a great item to have on the dinner table with its chocolate sauce.
But the best way to spend the evening at Tomar is with rounds and rounds of cocktails and their carefully curated wine and whiskey selections from around the globe. We had a fabulous time drinking Sangria amidst the lovely ambiance of the resort.
I would like to thank Philipines Air Asia and Amorita Resort for organizing and providing this memorable experience in Bohol. It seemed like two nights were not enough, and I am already planning a return trip sometime soon so I can enjoy staying at their luxurious Garden Villa. So if you are thinking of going to Bohol, Amorita Resort should definitely be on the top of your travel list.

At the San Francisco Nespresso Boutique, they've got four specialty coffees (coffee mocktails?) designed by boutique baristas from around the country, available only in SF. They were created especially to celebrate The America's Cup race, which is taking place in September. The Fog, with ginger and honey, was my fave!

As part of our Nespresso Coffee Experience Immersion, we swung by the Flagship shop in SoHo. Turns out some of the baristas there can make really intricate foam designs on the top of espressos, cappuccinos and mocha lattes!

Sure, the Nespresso Napoli and Trieste Grand Crus are limited editions and sold out quickly (like, within a month). But really? $600 for 10 sleeves of Trieste and 1 of Napoli? Get the heck out of here!

A couple of weeks ago, Nespresso was kind enough to invite me (along with the five other Club Nespresso Bloggers around the country) to watch the Louis Vuitton Cup final races in preparation for the America's Cup challenge. Now it's down to Team Oracle USA and Team Emirates New Zealand, cutting across the San Francisco Bay. Link above and HERE. Or you could just look at the pretty pictures HERE. My article on what I did and learned about the race, along with pretty pictures. There's a slideshow in the upper left corner if you just want to see the pretty pictures.
