Backstory/Background:

Despereaux was born into a poor family. He was born the youngest of seven other children. Because their family was quite large, and their parents had always been working some job or another. The children were often left alone and began to be neglected. This often left to some of his older siblings stepping in to take care of their younger siblings while their parents were busy working. For some years Despereaux would grow up in their family home. He would develop a wild sense of adventure and often be caught wandering around the yard, and farm land their old family home sat on.

But because of his parents always being busy and never having time, Despereaux would also develop into being more difficult to handle at times. Going through a rough phase. This did not help when one night his parents had turned up murdered by some means, due to their careers. The children were then shipped off to an orphanage. The death of his parents had left Despereaux a bit traumatized. For many years that followed after that trauma had affected his day to day life.

Despereaux would become separated from most, and then all of his siblings as they were placed in different orphanages across the state. Their family home condemned. Though there was something...supernatural about the orphanage Despereaux would come to find himself in. Even as a young boy, the vibes were certainly uncomfortable to him. Within this orphanage had also been a secret door. One which Despereaux was told not to go into, at all, if he ever found himself near it. Which he would, several times, actually. He would also feel very frightened each time it would appear.

Despite this, Despereaux would continue living an average life. He would attend a normal, average human school, full of all the cliques and sub-cliques one can imagine. Despereaux would also start to get into many different activities over time. Mostly into skating, as he would find himself hanging out with the skaters more and more. At his school there was a lot of tension between the different main cliques. This was because a rumor had surfaced about an emo and a prep getting together. After this rumor spread far enough, the clique soon began to clash. Despereaux however couldn’t be bothered with it all. It was mostly bullshit and nonsense in his opinion. Instead he focused on himself and his interests. 

Despereaux lives at the orphanage until he is seventeen years old and then moves out into his own apartment. He gets a job not long after working at a video game store and life seems to go very well for him. He starts playing instruments and working on his skating and singing for the most part. Eventually earning a reputation and becoming a professional skateboarder.
