i will ask.. how do i play comp medic
*i was gonna put the 'und fixtf2' robin atkin downes images but you dont have images enabled. oh well*
(actually on the topic of comp medic. i was so set on having a comp gameplay for the fic i mentioned that i looked up a LEGIT COMP MEDIC GUIDE FOR SNAKEWATER.)
im so glad you asked :D
the way medic is played in comp changes pretty drastically depending on the format, ill focus on 6s and highlander (hl)
general comp med stuff:
uber counting (an uber takes 40 seconds to a minute on average to build, start counting when the enemy med spawns)
calling advantage (usually when the enemy med has just respawned the med yells "we have X ad!" if the number is low like 20 then the team usually plays passive and tries to send a sac(rifice) at the enemy med again but if theyre good they can play off of it and go aggressive, if the number is high like 80 or even full ad then the meds job is now to survive until they can push into the enemy again, if your teams med dies then youre at a disad, which is basically the same principle as above just reversed, bigger number means bad now)
uber masking (right when youre about to get an uber, say a different voiceline to override the loud and obvious "i am charged!" one)
an ever-looming fear of death (because the enemy wants you dead so bad, they will send sacs to get you, which is just a soldier bombing in with the sole purpose of killing the med, even if the soldier dies in the process)
always sticking with the combo (in 6s its demo, pocket scout and pocket soldier, is hl its heavy, demo, pyro)
comp meds usually have really good aim
did i mention the ever-looming fear of death yet?
calling ubers (this is either A) telling your team "ill have uber soon" or "i have 80" when youre at 80% or B) telling your team where you should end an uber, eg. "end on point" "end in heaven" or C) calling when you uber or where youd like to uber, eg. "lets uber through 1" "i forced!" "ubering ")
calling the team to back up when youre low on players, eg. "we have 2, go back to last!"
buffing soldiers, they usually come to the medic and ask for an overheal (or "buffies" as ive heard)
if the medic is using a solem vow, they also call the enemy health ("get the soldier, hes low!" "demo is 30, focus him!")
other than calling all of that, medic is a relatively silent class in comms compared to other ones
surfing damage! its so fun, you get hit with one (1) rocket and go flying backwards at mach 5 into safety, this is an essential skill of all comp meds
6s medic specific:
always healing a scout (unless both are dead)
if hes not healing a scout then hes giving buffs to a soldier or about to use uber (usually on a demoman)
building uber with a scout (boston basher) or demo (half zatoichi) anytime he can, this significantly cuts down how long it takes to get uber (60 seconds down to 40)
can be found on koth or 5cp maps
usually only sticks to stock medigun
has worse spy or sniper awareness than a hl med because a 6s med doesnt deal with them often
6s is a very fast format so the med is always on the move with his team
hl medic specific:
very very still
usually standing inside of a dispenser and using it as armor (the engineer is your new best friend)
almost always crouching
genuinely idk how people have the patience to play hl med
does not build uber
switches mediguns based on maps and team (defending on payload usually means starting with kritz then switching to stock later) and also a lot more in general
never out in the open, good spy + sniper awareness
can be found on payload, koth and cp_steel
other non-ingame comp stuff:
med is seen as an easy and boring class to play, nobody wants to play him, ever
is so so stressful at times
its hard to tell how good a medic player is because medic relies a lot on his team so sometimes what you might think is a medic issue is actually a team issue
usually said team issue gets blamed on the medic by the team
map reviews and team demo reviews are very informative, some people have posted map reviews (talking about strats/positions/class specifics, etc. on a specific map) on youtube but more experienced teams that know their maps usually do team reviews where they look at a demo file of their recent game with a coach or mentor (same thing, usually a higher division player) and have them point out mistakes and tell them how to fix said mistakes
if its not down for maintenance, you can check out comp.tf, the competitive tf2 wiki for further reading, i also have two other posts about comp med/med in general (one) (two) and i have some posts on my comp tag about stuff thats happened to me while playing or just liveposting the average team squabble

“With the upcoming NTFL season on the rise, let’s interview the R.E.D support trio on the legacy they carry!”
Whoo! Finally finished this, I really wanted to make a magazine cover. It’s surprisingly harder than it looks LMAO
I know they’re finalized designs aren’t out yet but I couldn’t help myself. I’ve been a bit slow getting the sponsorships and logos put on, so in the meantime I may just make stuff like this as I avoid the things that actually need to be done for this au

I don't play tf2 these days but my one specific nieche that always get triggered like a sleeper agent is hearing talking about MVM. MVM my absolute beloved. MVM Scout, Medic, Pyro you will always be famous to me. I could have so many takes that are controversial and yet I'd be able to back them up. I haven't played in like a year but I will always defend MVM.

things that don't make you a try hard in tf2:
-playing the game seriously -being better than the other players (this is directed at people who wine just because they are getting dominated by a better player)
Things that DO make you a try hard in tf2
-being that one dickhead pyro burning the group of friendlies in the far off corner of the map minding their own business when you could be focusing on the enemy that is actually playing the game seriously. - calling someone a tryhard because they are better at the game than you. as someone who is crap at this game: please learn to fail gracefully instead of being a whiny little bitch. you will have so much more fun playing this game that way AND you will end up improving your skills faster. special shout out to that guy on a casual server that asked me "why do you sound like a femboy" not understanding that women actually play this game too.

im genuinely so pissed that i can't draw. what happens if you get a fic with medic with blood and vicera on his sharp lil nails instead, because I know I can write. what then.
than you would be the only contestant in the probably not newly invented "write this in your style" or WTIYS for short and I would have no choice but to award you with the prize of drawing you a pfp or something because that is genuinely a great idea
(if anybody who can't draw wants to write something instead than go right ahead but anon fr if you write the fic I'll draw you something)
((post it with the tag poopyWTIYS))

Competitive sport au update!
(Note: these are the designs without class logos or sponsors! will be included in individual character posts.
Welcome to the competitive sport au!
Taking place in 2033, Team fortress is a no longer a war, but a spectacle. With over 43 teams throughout the world, cities and countries build up teams of nine to fight to the unlimited death for the entertainment of the world. Lives always on screen for fights, interviews, personal drama, and more, the nine are continuously cycled clones of the final mercenaries from the 1970’s, legacy faces and skills making for easy notoriety. Some mercs adore the spotlight, finding fame and money worth the price of a life without independence. Others find solace in friendship and close bonds to make it to retirement, earning their right to citizenship and freedom from ultimate death.
