To Whom It May Concern:
[OOC:
It’s disheartening for me that there is apparently a need for me to express these things OOCly, but as this has come up in several media with respect to Teren (Tumblr, Discord, and in-game) I feel obligated to clarify the following salient points:
1. *I* - the Writer - make a point of only writing with individuals who are twenty-one or older on Teren. NSFW content (nudity, sexually explicit content, violence) is very prevalant with respect to this Muse, and I - the Writer - prefer not to co-write such content with younger authors. I’m perfectly content to Co-Write occasional platonic, neutrally located, content with Writers who are under this age, but for long-term storyarcs, I prefer an older Writing Circle.
2. *I* - the Writer - am very cautious about selecting Co-Writers, because I have had several Co-Writers in the past become manipulative, verbally abusive, and or make threats against my integrity in the past. If you believe we would make good Co-Writers, here are some very simple tips for communicating this to me:
- Be over 21 years old IRL. (See above.)
- Be able to keep IC and OOC separate. VERY Separate.
- Understand that IC ≠ OOC is unequivocally not permission to abuse others. It is meant to communicate a reassurance. Your character may be angry with mine, or mine yours. It in no way is meant to indicate a passive-agressive anger or frustration I have with you. I will absolutely inform you if we have an issue. I will offer you an opportunity to to speak on your behalf. I will listen actively to your side of things. I will attempt to find equitable ground for us to move-forward on.
- Be direct. - I’m very direct about my wants, needs, and expectations. If you’re shy with everyone else on Azeroth, that’s fine. But, if you want to be my Co-Writer, you *have* to be able to communicate what your IC and OOC wants, needs, and expectations are for me so we can avoid misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and/or unmet/unreasonable expectations of each other.
- Be patient. - I rarely take on a new Co-Writer that I haven’t spent at least a month discussing (IC/OOC) compatibility, objectives for character development, preferred means of character development (conflict/combat/social/etc) We can adore one another and not have compatible muses, or character development strategies. That’s fine. Maybe alts are a better plan. Maybe we just genuinely aren’t compatible as Co-Writers, but we’d be great OOC friends. It all begins with communication. Open. Honest. Respectful. But, being a good communicator is a necessity. I’m an empathetic person, but I’m not *actually* a Telempath. Talk to me.
3. News Flash: Being disrespectful towards the men and women who have earned my respect and trust as one of my Co-Writers is NOT EVER going to earn you brownie points.
I’m not going to take on a Co-Writer who can’t get along at least politely with my current Co-Writers. Why? Because nothing will get done. Do you all have to be friends? No. Do you all have to be capable of being respectful toward one another and NOT talk disparagingly of one another when they’re not around? Unequivocally.
4. Teren is a married man. (*Waves at @marquis-lycan-kiden* ) and will likely be married also to @adilynia by the end of the year. He isn’t going to take on any other permanent romantic partners. He’s quite thoroughly in love and very happy with the two he has.
It is genuinely alright to approach him with interest. Under very rare circumstances, he may even invite your Muse for a tryst that may - or may not - include his Husband. But, at least OOCly- understand, there are no more long-term RRP slots available with this Muse.
5. Keep IC and OOC feelings very separate. *I* am not Teren. *I* am not in love with - well, anyone at the moment. *I* am not shopping for a romantic partner. *I* am not interested in hooking up with you or having night-time fantasies about you or your Muse; regardless of the explicit content of our RP. *I* am keeping both of my hands on the keyboard. *I* highly recommend that you are doing the same.
I understand that the narrative of Teren’s story may drive you buggy as a reader. I understand that you may read something and feel very strongly that person A, B or C isn’t properly appreciative of what Teren has to offer. I genuinely am deeply touched and grateful that you have invested emotionally in his story. But, I also have no intention of allowing external parties to dictate the company he keeps. The only one with that particular privilege...
Is Lycan]
