I was gonna put this in the tags but there's so much I wanna ramble about that it just got too long lol-
BUT YEAAAAAAAHHH :D I'm just excitedly flapping my hands rn- AND I DIDN'T EVEN CONSIDER THE BURNT BRIDGES IDEA
The fiery aspects initially came from Dove and the idea of an archangel with a flaming sword and justice and rage but ohhh my god the burning bridges and burnout fits so well
Honestly the way Cedric gets associated with fallen angels (the potential black wings in the design) is super interesting bc a huge part of his interactions with characters like Dove or Artic is that he's only human. He's gotten way in over his head ending up in supernatural circumstances more than once lol
And sidenote: The funny thing about Dove is that she certainly appears human, she doesn't have wings or powers or any of that- But there's Something about her that other characters pick up on.
And the way that those characters (specifically Cedric and Kieran) find about it is super different- Dove and Cedric were kids when she first mentioned the idea of being something inexplicably more. I struggle to describe it but it's a really soft and sweet and interesting moment in my head lol.
Meanwhile Kieran is in a similar boat as Dove, being a werewolf in all but actual transformation, but their outlooks and goals and methods are wildly opposed to each other. He's able to tell right off the bat that there's something different about Dove, and he almost takes it as a challenge to take her down.
Also also: There's this very fun effect I like to imagine with certain OCs, where they have these white pencil-y lines to represent how they perceive themselves. What should be there. Like there's a scene in my head of Dove holding a metal bat, but there are those outlines of wings covering her face (like a "justice is blind" kinda thing?) and her bat as a flaming sword.
But back to Cedric, it never feels like he actually IS a fallen angel. He has this way of reaching for divinity that's so crushingly human, and I think he makes those comparisons as a way to express his remorse for everything he's done? Plus he's just super overdramatic and theatrical in general lol
In any case, I think the most fun part of fusion designs like this is that even when you're working with human designs, the way fusions rely so much on emotion really lets you get funky with the design and add all sorts of symbolic shenaniganry. It's really fun :D
If your OCs could fuse like in Steven Universe, what would they look like?
#and you could say the black wings are like a crow which ALSO connects cedric to his ghost uncle stone and night goddess estelle#OOUGH and the whole fire theme could also connected to candles -> melting candles -> form melting bc of instability#and burnout and burning the candle at both ends and candles fitting into the whole sacrificial vibes of the dagger and!!!!#aaa i love this :D
