Lak is still dealing with the fallout from being excluded from the family after her brothers death
__________________________________________
Lak sat quietly in the garden enjoying the silence from the business inside the house. She had gotten away from the family because she felt out of place with them. Ever since they pushed her away after Killian's death she hadn't really known where she stood when it came to her parents.
She could feel her mom coming towards her, something she didn't want but now would have to deal with.
"Everything ok Lak? You disappeared on us."
"Yeah, she wanted some alone time is all mother."
Lak calling her "mother" sent off alarm bells. This formality always occurred when Lak was trying to keep her or her father at arms length. "You seem to be doing that quite a bit lately, what's wrong?"
"Nothing much, just not sure where I fit in with the family anymore is all."
"You're our child, do you doubt that?"
She could hear the defensive tone Indran was taking and didn't really want to deal with this but it seemed perhaps it was time. " Honestly at times yes I do. I remember the family pushing me away after Killian simply because I don't share your blood, I remember how long it took for father and Markus to want me back for dinner, I remember the only people being there for me as I grieved we're my husband and his parents."
"Mistakes were made after your brothers death I admit."
"Mistakes? Mistakes? That's what you call shoving me away was, a mistake?"
Indrans tone turned a bit colder than Lak had anticipated, "I'll not apologize again Lak."
"I'm not asking for an apology mother just stating my feelings. "
"If that's how you feel then so be it Lak. You are our child even if you don't feel as if you are." Getting up Indran walked away displeased with the conversation she just had.

Lak’s first meeting with Darth Mortis and his wife to get a sense of what would happen to her after Darth Gravus got himself assassinated. Kneeling in front of Darth Mortis and his wife Darth Kalma she focused on the gleam of her polished shoes awaiting the command to rise. Not daring to move a millimeter she tried to keep her breathing even and deep but in reality it was shallow and short as she stayed kneeling for what seemed an eternity. He was imposing, he knew it and what mattered more is she knew it. This had to be a test, one of many she thought, wondering how many she would face this night and what failure of any of them might bring.
Cutting through the silence, “Rise” the voice of one Darth Mortis commanded and she obeyed. Keeping her eyes nailed to the nicely polished floor she stood there saying nothing awaiting her next command. The way he ordered her made her feel small and insignificant again, like she had felt at the Academy. It was a feeling she hadn’t felt in a very long time and hoped not to feel again after this meeting.
A more pleasant voice, the one of his wife Darth Kalma who Darth Gravus had praised as a brilliant diplomat, pierced the silence. “Please sit Lord Spart.”
“As you command Dark Lord’s.” sitting down she took in a quick survey of the library, a skill she had mastered when in an unfamiliar situation. Seeing all the books that lined the shelves she was in awe at the amount of knowledge in one room, she could gladly stay here for weeks simply reading and would enjoy every moment.
“Since the death of Darth Gravus we have had to decide what to do with you. You have potential, your academy records show that as does your dueling victory and victories on the field of battle.” Darth Mortis pointed out as matter of factly as one could
“My academy records, why do you need those?” she blurted out before she could stop. Seeing the look on the faces of both SIth she quickly realized she had made a major error. “Apologies my Lord’s, I overstepped.” One test failed and it had been less than 5 minutes.
“As I was saying before you decided to interject, your academy records piqued our interest, especially the reports of visions. I will admit I am surprised that someone of your background would have this ability but it seems to be corroborated by various people. Do you think you have this ability?” The tone of Darth Mortis was cold and detached yet had a hint of curiosity to it
Taking her time to reply and trying to form her words she looked up. “Darth Gravus felt  there was no way someone of my bloodline could have this gift but a few instructors and Lord Vago felt otherwise. I know I have had visions but I am not sure if it is the ability people say it is.” Fiddling with her cuff she noticed the wrinkles start to form and became annoyed with herself since she had taken care to press all her clothes to look as proper as possible. “ I know there were two times at the Academy when meditating I had I suppose visions of danger if I stayed in my bunk or going to another place in the Academy that later I found out if I had indeed gone to these places I wouldn’t be here speaking to you.”
“Interesting, tell us more.” she couldn’t tell if the tone from Darth Kalma as genuine curiosity or just one she had mastered as a diplomat to appease those across the table from her
“As you wish. One was down the hall to the library where I was confronted multiple times for being a filthy half breed, I saw blood and could see a rival of mine standing over what was my body. I retreated to the roof of the Academy for a time and I heard later that they found the individual waiting in that hall for me but I never came.”
She could see them processing the information and wondered what her ability to have Force visions meant to them. They seemed interested in her for solely that singular ability. She also wondered what exactly Gravus had told them about her other than she could tell it was nothing good.
“And the other?”  The tone left no doubt to the fact an answer was expected.
“While meditating I saw an assassin come to my bunk and stab me, I could almost feel the blade pierce my back but I could not see a face. Just like before I retreated to the roof with my blanket and stayed there until the sun rose. An intruder was detected in the quarters I lived in but no one was harmed, a knife was found by the door. A knife meant for my back.”
“How many of your visions have come to pass?” Darth Kalma asked in a distant yet oddly warm tone.
“Three so far my Lord’s, two on Korriban and one on Taris. I don’t have them all that often, I have to really connect with the dark side in a deep way and that is rather difficult for me to do for a variety of reasons.”
“Such as?”  Mortis interjected and his tone was demanding
Trying to weather the barrage of questions no doubt meant to keep her off balance she struggled but knew failure was not an option, she wanted to live. “Things like not being given time to meditate, not being credited with the ability to do that by other Sith,” careful to not call out Gravus, she did not want to face the wrath of their best friend, “my lack of general connection to the Force. I have no delusions that my connection with the Force is weak due to me being of mixed blood.”
“Yes your background is an interesting one, one such as yourself born a slave should not possess the gift of force visions but it seems you do. Do you understand how rare this gift is, Lord Spart?”
Fiddling with the other sleeve as the inquisition continued, “No my Lord’s I do not but from everything I have gleaned it is rather rare.”
“Very good, it is rare which is why you possessing it is intriguing. It’s odd that Gravus never mentioned it.”
“My former Master felt I was skilled in the art of war but that was basically it. I don’t know what he told you or did not tell you and would not wager to guess Dark Lords.” she closed her eyes for a second hoping that she had not crossed a line in saying that
Mortis could see and feel how nervous and scared she was and was only mildly amused at how she attempted to be diplomatic about her feelings towards Gravus but it was clear she disliked her former master.
“That is all we wished to know as of right now Lord Spart, you may leave. We will call you when our decision about your future is made.”
Rising from the chair quickly, “Thank you Dark Lords.” Turning to leave she could feel both of their gazes on her and she retreated quickly out of the library.
“So what do you think dear?” Indran asked her husband
“She’s impulsive, knows her place, potential is obvious but untapped and I think she does have the gift of Force visions. She would be very rough around the edges and I don’t know if she would be able to adapt to what we would require of her if we offer adoption. Your thoughts?”
“Those are my thoughts for the most part as well. I think her desire to belong could be used to bring her into line, it was very obvious she wanted to say the right things to impress us.”
Pouring a glass for himself he turned and looked at his wife, “ Very true, that desire to belong could be used to keep her in line. We would have to find a tutor for her force visions, that won’t be easy to find. Do you think we should offer her the option for adoption or simply keep her under our protection?”
“She would be more use to us as an adopted child that is certain,” Indran sat back taking a drink of the wine glass she had just poured herself, “I would have to ensure she was dressed properly because what she was wearing was not good enough for this family but she is young and eager. She is what, 24 years old?”
“I believe so.”
“I would call her back tomorrow and offer her the option of either adoption, remaining under our protection but with the cavet that it won’t last forever or she could be my apprentice. Let her choose but don’t give her too long for that, only 50 hours at most or all the offers will be off the table.”
“Your apprentice?” Mortis head was cocked in confusion as he looked at her trying to process her last statement,” Why in the force would you take someone like her as an apprentice?”
“You said it yourself, she had potential and is not too far gone down the war path to change. Besides, someone with her background in war would have a different view of negotiations that others might. I doubt she will take it but it could be offered.”
“I will summon her here tomorrow and give her the options then, it will be interesting to see which she chooses and why.”

Mother Daughter Chat
Mortis watched Indran and Lak walk out to the garden together. Lak had been subdued during dinner, engaging in conversation when she had too but no more. It was clear to all she had something on her mind but it seemed she did not wish to share that with him but his wife instead. He was glad she at least was opening up to her mother and not keeping it bottled up inside as she normally would do.
Hands in her pockets Lak kicked at the ground not sure what to say, a thousand thoughts running through her head about how to start the conversation. Indran waited for her to start the talk on her own terms knowing pushing might end it right then and there.
Sitting down Lak took off her glasses and rubbed her eyes out of frustration at herself. Deciding to break the silence Indran sat down next to her running her fingers through her daughter's hair.
“You have let it grow back out, I like it. It shows off the scars but I am getting used to those.”
Smiling at her, “I’ve been too lazy to get it cut and now as winter approaches it seems smarter to let it grow, though not much more than it is now. What dad said last night struck a nerve, I know he didn’t mean too but it did and a raw one it seems….ever since I was freed I showed an aptitude for melee combat and the military. It’s all I have known and what I have geared my life for. The thought of not being able to do that, it’s horrifying to me.”
“I can tell and I will never discount your deeds on the battlefield. What you have done, what you have seen your father and I can never understand. You must know that you are more than just a warrior despite what Julian stupidly told you.”
“It’s easy to say but harder to believe. He took me out of the Academy, he made me Sith.” Lak began to fight back tears that wanted to spill over but for the moment didn’t. “Other Darths came looking for apprentices but as soon as they found out about my shall we say mixed heritage they were no longer interested, I wasn’t pure enough. Gravus was the one who took a chance on me, looked past my blood so of course I took everything he said as truth. I was 18, a kid, barely free for 10 years.” silent tears now coming down her cheek, “Do you think I want to say what he taught me was wrong even though I know now it was.”
Lak rarely brought up her time in the Academy but Indran knew it was hard, harder than most. To hear the anguish in her voice  told her it was harder than she had realized.
“No, I know you don’t.  He was wrong about this Lak, you are not only worth the military victories you bring to the Empire, your time recovering has shown that. The ideas you have brought to Strategy, your experiences have all helped. Is his teachings why you appear to be so reckless in combat, not caring if you die?”
“Yes.”
“I thought as much. Lak look at me.” Looking up at her mother the pain in her eyes was clear and unguarded, “ While your victories are part of who you are they are not all you are. You are an inquisitive, loyal, smart, stubborn, loving and sarcastic young lady. It was an easy decision to  adopt you when your father brought it up. Despite the rough times I don’t see you as a soldier for the Empire, I see you as my daughter who has many paths she could take in life.”
Lak closed the gap between them and wrapped her arms around her mother. Indran held her tight and kissed the top of her head. Mortis eyed them from afar wondering what they were talking about that brought up such strong emotions that he could feel them.
Pulling away slowly Lak began to pace as she tried to put words together again.
“It’s not just rethinking who I thought I was supposed to be that is weighing on my mind mom, I’ve...met someone. He has captured my attention like no other man has. I’m not a stranger to men, not that many but not innocent either, but this, this is different. When  we have lunch or just talk I can’t stop smiling or wanting to hear his voice. I hate having to leave when he has to go back to work.”
Trying to hide a smile at this revelation, “I see, how long have you two been having lunch?”
Looking down at the ground, a rare shy streak coming from Lak, “ About 3 months, we’ve been on a couple dates. I’m surprised Dad hasn’t said anything to you, or me actually.”
“If he hasn’t it means he has checked into this young man who has captured our daughters eye and found nothing worrying. Many I enquire into his name, just his first so you don’t give too much away.”
Chuckling, “His name is Andriy, he works in Logistics. When I see him, talk to him and yes kiss him, I see a future I’ve never seen with any other man I have been with. I’m not sure what is going on with me but it's different.”
“Do you want my honest opinion sweetie?”
“Sure.”
“It sounds like you are in love with him.”
“The thought had crossed my mind that I might be as well. I loathe the thought of being away from him for an unknown period of time, like the 18 months I was gone last time.”
“I wish I could give you advice about love but I can’t. I didn’t expect to fall for your father but I did. Enjoy it, treasure it and if it’s  meant to be then it will because what I see right now is a very smitten Lak who is happy with her beau and that makes me happy.”
“Thanks mom, I appreciate it. I will spare you further intimate details.”
“I appreciate that because I doubt you want to hear about your father and I.”
“Force no. I know you guys still have an active love life but I don’t need to hear about it.”
“Thanks for listening mom, I guess I just needed to talk and hear that what Gravus told me was stupid. I’m trying to not shut you guys out like I used too.”
“Your welcome honey and I appreciate it. Your father and I can’t help if we don’t know what’s wrong. Shall we go back inside and get desert? Your father is lurking outside the garden.”
“Of course he is, I would have been disappointed if he hadn’t been.”
Walking back into the house Lak and Indran just smile at Mortis while heading to the table for dessert.
“Joining us dear?”
Lak laughed at the look on her father’s face and the far too innocent look on her moms.

Final Goodbye to War
Lak finally goes home completing her duty to the Empire by fighting on the front lines and remembers battles and times gone by.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lak sat under the tree enjoying the crisp night and the stars twinkling in the sky. Last time she had been under this tree all hell had broken loose.
Footsteps approached but she knew who it was, mom. Sitting down next to her daughter she too sat in silence looking up at the stars.
"I wonder which one is home?"
"I haven't the faintest idea. What brings you out here Lak, are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine mom. The last time I was under this tree, or what's left of it to be exact blaster bolts were flying by my head, things were exploding all around me, the chaos of war" looking over at her mother she could tell she hadn't wanted to hear that, "Yet tonight all is quiet, both sides taking stock of the losses and enjoying the quiet."
"With all luck we can conclude these negotiations soon and go home dear,I know you're ready to leave."
Still reminiscing Lak laid back still staring up at the stars, "Killian and I would sit out at night after a long campaign and try to guess what star was Dromund Kaas. No idea if we ever got it right."
She could feel the sadness from her mom when her late brother was mentioned, his death had left a hole in the family.
Putting her head on mom's shoulder she looked over at her, "Thank you for pulling strings to get Ty and myself home. I know Caitlin will be thrilled to have him back now she's ready to pop with the twins. Grandpa told me that my duty wasn't just to fight but to also raise my son's to be dutiful children to the Empire."
"He's right you know, there are different types of duty. You've done your duty here, now it's time to come home."
"Didn't I  just say that?"
"I suppose you did." getting up Indran ruffled her daughter's hair much to Laks annoyance, "Come back soon Lak, you need your rest."
" I will mom, just want to sit out of here for a while longer."
"Ok sweetie, love you."
"Love you too mom."
As the temperature dropped it finally forced Lak back to her quarters. She was finally at peace with her decision to leave active duty military service and concentrate on her family and duty at home. Over 20 years of fighting on the front lines, numerous planets brought into  the Empire and a few injuries on the way this chapter of her life was closing and she was finally at peace

A Return Home
I blame @lordviridis for this piece of angst. It is all her fault and I take none of the blame.
-------------------------------------
Dromund Kaas
Kris walked the last few meters to the house he knew so well. It was a house he grew up in, a house that had protected him and raised him after his father’s assassination. It also was the house where he first fell in love and then had to walk away from that love.
After graduating the Sith Academy and being told that he should rethink his desire to marry Caitlin, a not so subtle way of telling him they would not allow the marriage, he took postings off planet as much as he could. The first few were agonizing as she called him and he didn’t answer as he was told to. Finally they stopped and he knew why. The bitterness he felt spurred him to do better at his job, but also never left him.
The woman he had thought of as his mother had arranged him to meet suitable women for marriage. A few of them were nice but not compatible, others were annoying and he had no desire to continue seeing them but his current companion had made him laugh, smile and actually be happy. This trip she could not come with him, ancient artifacts were found and she was part of the team inspecting them.
Returning to Kaas city was bitter sweet, he knew he would see her again and it had been almost 7 years since he last saw her. He wasn’t prepared for the anger that swirled around him, taking it and using it to put on his best face he stopped and looked at that house. He was a proper Sith, cold and calculating, in control of his emotions. The Sith they wanted him to be.
Walking through the door and handing his coat to Erland he walked into the parlor. His eyes locked onto to Caitilin. She was putting up a front of being happy and talking with a man but he knew she was the opposite of that. Pushing down the desire to pull her into his arms again he turned and saw his mother coming towards him.
She had a smile on her face seeing him but that smile was about to leave. Her husband joined her walking towards him.
Bowing at the waist, as one should with those of higher rank, he rose back up looking them in the eyes.
“My lords, thank you for inviting me, I must apologize that my date could not make it. Something about ancient Sith relics and her excitement has kept her there.” His voice was cold, distant as was his demeanor towards them. “I appreciate diplomacy bringing Lahsbane fully into the Empire so swiftly and with few problems. Rest assured Dark Lord, we will ensure that Imperial Justice is implemented without haste.”
Mortis and Indran were stunned by how formal and aloof he was. This was the same man who as a little boy played with their children and grew up in this very house. The love and kindness that they had seen in him was gone, a cold exterior replacing it.
“That is good to hear Lord Ulv, I am sure the new government will bring the planet in line very soon.”
“They will Dark Lord, I have no doubts about that. If you will excuse me I would like to catch up with Markus and Killian. It has been a long while since I have seen them.”
“Of course Kris, if you wish to stay here during your stay you are more than welcome to do so.” Reaching out to put a hand on his arm he pulled it away and put it behind his back, the momentary look of hurt was very satisfying to him.
“Thank you but no my Lord, it would no longer be proper for me to stay here now I am of age, the same as any affection in public by one who outranks me.” inclining his head he turned and left with a smile.
Returning to his hotel room he had to admit it was good to see Killian and Markus again. He had missed them and it was good to catch up. He also had to admit, much to his irritation, that there was a tiny part of him that had missed Indran. She had been the only mother he had known since his had been taken from him when he was four. However she had been part of the reason he had been forced to leave Caitlin all those years ago and he could not forget nor forgive. Pushing them away and only being formal and proper was what he wanted to do, he wanted them to feel a fraction of the pain he had felt.
In the morning he had received an invitation to join the family he was once a part of for breakfast before he left. He politely declined and finished his packing. As the shuttle rose through the clouds he looked down on the city and was glad to have left. The home he once found safety and security in as a little boy was that no longer.

Words and Feelings
Lakadimos is unbalanced by words her now dead first Master told her and the feelings she has for a certain someone she has been seeing

He has a heart
Lak has been poisoned while on a diplomatic trip with her mother. She wasn’t a fan of diplomats before and this has her hating them more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking up at the ceiling Lak wondered if she was going to die. If she did she was going to be pissed that she went out to an assassin’s blade while protecting her mother. This was not supposed to be how she died, she was supposed to die in battle, a hero to the Empire like her brother had been.
Mortis held her as the poison worked its way through her body. Groaning at the pain she could feel her breaths get shallower and shallower. The fear in her father's eyes was something she had never seen, a vulnerability he rarely showed. That he was showing it now told her all she needed to know, she was running out of time.
“Tell Andriy and the boys….I love them papa.”
“You are going to tell them yourself when you see them this afternoon. No need for me to do it for you.”
A piercing pain ripped through her thigh as something sharp plunged into it. Crying out her back arched at the pain. The pain subsided quickly but was replaced by a burning her leg and soon her whole body.
Holding her as tight as he could it was obvious the pain his daughter was experiencing was the anecdote working its way through her veins neutralizing the poison.  It didn’t make it any easier when she cried out and begged him to stop the pain.
Her breathing became less labored and deeper, the pain still there but not as severe as it had been moments before. She could hear voices from the other side of the room, her mother and her doctor. What they were saying was another matter entirely.
“We got to her just in time my Lord. The anecdote has begun to work but she will be in pain for two more days as it all makes its way out of her system.”
“How long will she sleep for Doctor?”
“ Two days on and off. She will be awake for short periods of time. During those times try to get her to eat something, even if it is broth or soup.”
“Thank you Doctor”
Mortis hadn’t let go of Lak but he could tell she was starting to drift off as the medicine worked its way through her body along with the anecdote. He started to get up but she gripped his hand tightly, more tight than she should have been able to do in her condition.
Barley opening her eyes she looked into his red ones, “ Please stay till asleep papa. Don’t want you to go.”
For some unknown reason she had always come to him when she was ill. Usually falling asleep on his office couch as he worked. Knowing he couldn’t leave her until she was asleep he nodded.
“I’ll have the slaves prepare the boys rooms, I have a feeling Andriy isn’t going to leave her side for a while.”
Sitting down next to Lak, his hand never leaving hers, he breathed a sigh of relief. They had come far too close to losing her this evening. She may not have been his by blood but she was his daughter. While she could be irritating with her talk of ending slavery and the fights they had with each other he still loved her.
Her breathing began to even out, no longer labored as she fell into a deep sleep. The grip on his hand slackened and he slowly removed his hand from hers. Standing up he looked at her sleeping peacefully. Mortis gently kissed her head, a sign of affection he rarely if ever had shown with her but couldn’t help it tonight considering the circumstances.
“Sleep well Lak.” pulling the blankets tightly over her
As he turned and headed out of her room Indran was in the doorway smiling.
“See despite what our daughter thinks, you do have a heart.”
“Feel free to not make it known, I do have a reputation to keep dear.”
Later that night Mortis slept closer to Indran than normal, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close. He wouldn’t admit the days events rattled him but she knew, she understood. They had already lost one child, they couldn’t bear to have lost another.

I couldn’t think of a title
It was a crisp and cloudless night as Lak and Andriy strolled arm and in arm. The garden district was in full bloom and she loved the variety of color.  The company also wasn’t too bad either, leaning her head on his arm she smiled. Life had been good for her and Andriy, he became a Darth and anointed successor to Darth Vowrawn and she enjoyed teaching at the Academy. Vacations to Dromund Kaas were a nice break and a chance to see the family.
“Let’s go to my parents and let them know we are going on vacation. We are almost at their house.”
“Fine with me my love, a chance to walk some more with you on my arm is not something I am going to turn down.”
“Aren’t you always the charmer.”
“Yes I am.”
Moments like this Andriy relished, time with his wife who was happy and content with life. He could feel her happiness through their bond and it made him smile. After a few turbulent years things were finally coming together for them and to see her happy was all that he wanted. He so loved watching her grade papers, sitting back in her chair, glasses on deep in concentration.
Punching in the code to the house she and Andriy were greeted by Erland who took their jackets.
“Let’s find mom or dad and let them know we will be gone then we can go home and have some alone time.” taking her finger she traced his jaw and gave him a quick kiss.
Following the Force she found them in the lower living room and could hear them talking. Cloaking herself in the Force she walked to the door but out of their sight.
“What is the harm of her being happy and excited about things Alastar? Would you rather her be brooding and withdrawn?” Indran asked her husband, her tone less than friendly
“Her enthusiasm for the simplest of things reminds me of her background. It is worse than a commoner and not befitting of her. She should have learned to temper that behavior by now.”
Both of their heads quickly turned towards her as she stood in the doorway, her face carefully schooled but anger radiating off her.
Eyes flashing with barely controlled anger she looked at her father and venom in her voice.
“If my unbridled joy bothered you so much father you should have told me. I will make sure to be quiet and reserved just like Markus. You won't have to worry about my excitement bothering you. I wouldn’t want you to be reminded of my background, even 20 years later. Rest assured this will be corrected.”
“Lak he didn’t -”
“Yes mother he did and that is fine. One thing Father is, is blunt. No matter how much it hurts to hear that from him he meant it. I came over to tell you Andriy and I will be going on vacation for a week and the kids are staying at his parents house.”
"How dare you-" Andriy began taking a step towards Mortis.
"Andriy don't, it's not worth it." putting her hand on his chest
“Thank you for telling us sweetie, would you like to stay for a movie?”
“No mother, I don’t think we will but thank you for the offer. One more thing, unless Dromund Kaas is invaded I will not be answering my com. Good night.”
Walking out of the room Lak took a deep breath. Calling for Erland to get their jackets.
The walk home was very different from their earlier walk, Lak radiated anger that was turning into pain from her father’s words. Taking her hand he squeezed it letting her know he was right there for her.
“Your father is a cold bastard, for him to say that even though he didn’t know you were there is out of line. I find it rather hypocritical that he has told you that you need to get over your childhood but he can’t.”
Stopping and looking him in the eye, “I know, for every one thing he does that is loving he does crap like this. I think it may be awhile before we go back for supper. However, I don’t want tonight to take away from our vacation. Deal?”
Wrapping his arms around her and kissing her head he smiled.”Deal. Lets get packed and fly out early. After all, it's our shuttle.”
“Whoa, how early are we talking about, you know I loathe doing anything other than you before 0800.”
“After all the years we have been married you don’t think I know you are not a morning person. I was thinking around 0900.”
“Smart man. I am so looking forward to laying on the beach just hearing the waves, doing what we want at our own pace and not dealing with politics, pissy parents or my parents. Just you and I alone for a week.”
Unlocking the door Andriy quickly moved Lak against the wall closing the door with his foot. The look in his eyes and feelings through bond told Lak exactly what he had in mind for tonight.
“Before we leave tomorrow, how about I take you to bed and make you moan at my own pace for the night.”
Lak was about to retort but Andriy’s lips crashed down on hers swallowing any reply she may have given him.  As they made their way to the bedroom a trail of clothes followed the path they cut. Pushing her onto the bed he gave her a very feral and possessive grin.
“You are mine.” growling at her before he did just that.
Sated, sticky and in each others embrace they fell into a deep slumber feeling each other.

OC Kiss Week
Hand Kiss
Vowrawn and Indran
Indran Marwil ie Darth Kalma is @lordviridis lovely tease and wife of Darth Mortis.
********************************
Indran walked past the front office and into Darth Vowrawns office with no troubles. His staff knew better than to stop her and he was always in a better mood when she left. No one thought there was anything elicit going on other than the witty banter they could hear coming from his office.
Noticing he was not in she sat down in his desk chair and observed how tidy his desk was with papers stacked neatly in folders and boxes. Picking up a picture she smiled, it was of her daughter Caitlin and her husband Tygetus, Vowrawns son. The smile on Caitlins face as she looked up at Ty couldn’t help bring a grin to her face.
Walking into his office Vowrawn was stopped by Lord Verti, “Excuse me my Lord, Darth Kalma is awaiting you in your office.”
“She is, how delightful. Thank you.” With a smile he walked into his office and stopped.
“Ah to be greeted with a smile such as yours makes this day so much better.” he joked as she put down the picture. Slowly getting up she sauntered up to him knowing what an effect she had on him. He couldn’t deny she had effect on him, then again he had seen her in more...intimate settings as they indulged in one another while her husband and his wife likewise indulged in each other.
“How can anyone not smile when they see your cheerful visage Vowrawn, it’s near impossible.”
“That it is but people like your husband seem immune to my charm, sad I have to say and somewhat mystifying.”
“So far I have only met one person who has managed to work their charm on him.”
Taking her hand he pressed a gently yet lingering kiss on her knuckles before letting go. “I can understand how your charm penetrated his defenses. What do I owe the honor of your visit my dear. Please tell me it’s nothing to do with the upcoming budget.”
“Not at all, I hear enough about that from Alastar at home and on occasion Lak. I wished to invite you and your wife for dinner this weekend. Sadly all the kids are home so no...dessert this time.”
“I will talk to Shak tonight and holo you when I have an affirmative. I see no reason why we wouldn’t be free. Besides any chance to see you again I can not pass down.”
“Wonderful, I look forward to hearing from you dear Vowrawn. Enjoy your day.”
“Your visit certainly made it better, do give your husband my regards.”

Lakadimos Family Beginnings
Lak goes from a Masterless Sith Lord to a member of one of the most powerful families in the Empire, her journey starts here.
*******************************
Laying in bed Lak’s whole body hurt, the final interrogation regarding the events on Leritor had been brutal and she had more than one bruise and a cracked rib from various hands and instruments she didn’t even know existed. Thankfully they agreed she was not at fault for her late Masters death nor helped spur on the rebellion. Before she left she was given her assignment to the Sphere of Military Strategy. Rolling over she groaned just wishing to go to sleep but her com beeped signalling a message was left.
Reaching over she punched her code in and saw that her presence was required at the home of Darth Mortis. He and his wife had given her shelter and protection when she landed until she had gotten her own apartment. Not knowing what they wished she quickly showered and changed.
Walking in Erland bowed his head and pointed to the personal study of Darth Mortis. Unsure of what exactly was going on Lak clamped down on her nerves and fear, lifted her head and walked into his study. Looking around she was taken aback at the amount of books and how open the study was.
“I’m here as requested my Lord.”
“Please sit Lakadimos, Darth Kalma and I wish to talk to you. The first thing is the inquest into your culpability in the rebellion is now closed and you have been found to have none. The only fault is the command team looking inward for betrayal instead of seeing the signs of a slave rebellion. Any restrictions placed on you during the inquest are now lifted.”
“Thank you my Lord, I’m glad to see I was exonerated. Was there anything else?”
“Yes, you may have been exonerated in the death of Darth Gravus but you like the others did not see the danger from the slaves and thus were passively at fault. Take this as a lesson that while looking out for potential rivals is fine but you must look outward as well. Now onto the reason I summoned you here, Darth Kalma and I have talked and we wish to offer to adopt you. You have no family that you know of and your potential along with the accolades you have already won we feel you would make a fine addition to our family. There of course will be terms to the adoption.”
Sitting there shocked Lak was speechless for a moment before being able to form words. “ Oh wow, um why me? I’m not special.”
“We disagree Lakadimos, Darth Mortis and I see a vast potential in you. You are young, have already shown your skill with a lightsaber by winning the dueling tournament, and under Gravus helped bring Leritor into the Empire. Yes you are raw but you have a vast potential to go far in the Empire.”
“Thank you my Lord, I appreciate your words. What would be the terms of the adoption?”
“You would be given all rights and responsibilities of the family name and of our child, you would take the family surname. Upon marriage however you would take the surname of your husband and will be unable to pass down our surname to your children. When Darth Kalma and I pass on you would get money but no titles or land. As for as expectations from us you are to conduct yourself in a way that does not disgrace the family name, attend family dinner once a week and continue your rise through the ranks of the Sith. You must also take a Master, I will find you one suitable to our family stature and your talents. You may be a Lord but you know that why and know you are not truly a Lord when it comes to your training.”
Indrans voice got Laks attention, “You would also be welcome here anytime and will always have a room to stay in if you wish. Family functions would be a must but we would prepare you for that as well. Take a day or two to think on it, this is a major decision and I can tell you are slightly overwhelmed right now.”
“Thank you, I am a bit I have to admit. I never expected this, your offer of a place to stay and protection was greatly appreciated. I will get back to you with my answer by tomorrow if that’s acceptable.”
“That is fine Lakadimos.”
“Is there anything else you wished to tell me?”
“No, you may go. We look forward to hearing your decision.”
Getting up Lak inclined her head and  walked out. She was stunned that this offer had been presented to her. Knowing this was quite possibly the most monumental decision she had ever made in her 24 years of life she headed home to think and meditate to ensure the correct one was made.
Returning home Lak was restless mulling over the offer. Logically she knew that it would stupid to turn down the offer. The power, prestige and contacts one would have with the surname of Darth Mortis was almost unparalleled. Another part of her was also afraid that if she said no that they would not take it well and kill her.
Kneeling down and sinking into meditation Lak dove deep into the dark side searching for answers. Going deeper than she had for a long time she could feel the dark side flowing through her, healing some of her lesser injuries. Slowly coming out of her meditation she looked over at the chrono, it had been well over 2 hours since she entered into meditation. Wincing at the pain her ribs gave her she stood up and took a deep breath. Knowing what her decision was she slipped into bed and fell into a deep sleep.
The next day she walked over to Darth Mortis house sure of her decision, she had thought of it when she woke the next day but she knew what she wised. Ushered in by Erland he walked away to inform the master of the house she wished to talk to him. Coming back in short order he escorted her once again to his imposing study.
“You have come to a decision Lakadimos.” Mortis asked but knowing she had
“I have my Lord. After a lengthy and deep meditation I accept your offer for adoption. I do have one question though my Lord, why do you feel I need a Master. I am a Lord and have spent time training since I was 7.”
Walking in Indran sat down next to Mortis and Lak couldn’t help but notice what a striking and imposing pair they made.
“It is rather simple Lakadimos, you are still young and inexperienced. You are a Lord by virtue of winning the dueling title, which is an impressive feat but if you had not won the competition you would not be a Lord.” Mortis could feel Lak’s disagreement in the Force but he continued,” You still have much to learn and as young as you are you still need a Master to guide you. I will make sure you get a competent Master that can harness your talents and guide you to the heights Gravus has not.”
“I see my Lord, I will submit to your experience then and agree to be taken by a new Master.”
“Lakadimos has made her decision dear?”
“She has and she has agreed to the terms for the adoption. I will have a list of potential masters for you by weeks end.”
“Wonderful, Gravus always spoke highly of you when we talked. You will stay for dinner won’t you?”
“Of course, I would love to.” looking at Mortis, “I look forward to seeing who wishes to take me as their apprentice my Lord. It will be a new chapter in my burgeoning career.”

Indran stood in the doorway of the library with an amused look on her face at the scene in front of her. Lak was engrossed with her work that she was totally oblivious to her mothers presence but what made it even more amusing to her was Lak was singing. Her holo was on and music coming from it while she worked.
The desk was covered in various papers and Lak had her feet propped up on it singing away jotting down notes. Her voice wasn’t all that bad, not as good as her youngest brother Markus but not horrible either.
Coming up behind her Mortis noticed her standing there and wondered why she hadn’t gone in. Stopping him before he could walk in and ruin the moment she put her finger to her lips indicating he needed to be quiet.
“What is Lak doing?”
“Working while singing to music it seems. Seeing her this relaxed doing work is rarity dear, don’t go in and ruin it.”
Raising his eyes but not wanting to admit this was a rather nice scene he backed away slowly and headed to his office. Indran watched for a few moments more before walking away.
Lak would remain totally ignorant her parents had spies her relaxing to music while going over reports until an “innocent” comment at supper clued her in.

Life Day at the Marwils
Indran and Alastar sat on the couch, his arm around her looking at the activity in the upper living room. All of their children were home for this life day, happy, healthy and finally getting along. Wrapping paper was strewn over the floor as gifts were still being unwrapped. Vowrawn and Sha’kira sat on the other couch observing the activity as well, content with the atmosphere.
Lak’s 3 year old son Dimitri was chasing her around the room with his new toy lightsaber, Caitlin and Tygetus were dodging them trying to get to the final batch of presents, Markus was sitting next to his boyfriend Kean who was experiencing a Marwil family life day for the first time while Killian and Andriy were encouraging Dimitri in his chase after his mother.
Turning Lak bent down and caught Dimitri in her arms as he laughed. Whispering in his hear he got an evil little giggle then charged after his Uncle Killian, saber swinging while yelling he was going to get him.
“Lak, what did you tell your son that has him now assaulting your brother?” Indran asked trying to not laugh at Killian fending off his nephew.
“Nothing much, just....redirected him towards someone who fancies himself quiet the swordsman. No biggie. Nothing you need to worry about mom. Just roll with it.”
“Attention everyone,” Mortis voice boomed in the room as everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to listen, “Let us open the final batch of presents then go and eat dinner.”
Everyone had their last present in front of them, Dimitri having no patience at all tore into his and squealed with joy. Holding up he had been giving the Wrats Imperial cruiser set. Everyone turned and looked at Mortis when hearing his groan.
“Thank you Uncle wowrawn!!!” Dimitri ran and gave a very satisfied Vowrawn a big hug
“You are welcome my boy, make sure you have your Grandfather play with it with you.”
Lak couldn’t hold back a laugh and didn’t even attempt to cover it up.
Markus was next and his jaw dropped at the book he was holding then his head snapped up and looked at his smiling older sister. “This is incredible Lak, thank you so much.”
“What is it Markus?” Caitlin asked
“An original copy of the laws of the Suavax. I know they are aliens but this is incredible.”
“You’re welcome Markus, I thought you might appreciate it.”
Next Vowrawn and Mortis traded vintage scotch and brandy while Indran and Shak exchanged necklaces, both of which Lak had to admit were stunning. Markus came over and handed Lak a package that looked like it could be a book.
Tearing the wrapper paper off faster than her son did she grinned and held it up.”Its a first edition treatise on swordsmanship by Ajunta Pall. How did you....Kean. You told him didn’t you?”
“I will not confirm or deny I did Lak.”
“Thank you Markus, I’ve had my eye on this for a while.”
Looking down at Andriy he stood up and smiled. “Andriy and I have an announcement as well and since the whole family is gathered I can think of no better time. We are expecting our second child.”
The look of joy on her parents face brought a smile to her face as her mom got up and hugged her tight.
“This is wonderful Lak, we are so happy for you and Andriy.”
“Thank y-”
Everyone’s attention was now turned to the little boy doing some kind of dance, at least that is what it looked like while singing “I’m gonna be a big brother.”
“Let us all go to the dining room and enjoy dinner before we all go our separate ways.” Mortis told the gathered Sith trying to bring some sort of order to the room
Taking his hand Indran smiled and kissed him on the cheek, “This is a good life day dear, try to smile.”
“I am my dear. Shall we.”
No one left that night, each couple retiring to their respective rooms one by one later in the evening. For the first time in 5 years Indran could go to sleep knowing not only were all of her children home and safe but another addition to the family was on its way. Caitlin would soon give birth to her first child and Lak her second 7 months later. Putting her head on her husbands chest she fell sound asleep with a smile on her face.

Birthday Gift
It was her fathers 70th birthday and for once she was actually on Dromund Kaas for the celebration. She had gotten him two presents, one she knew he would enjoy, the other....well let’s just say he might not take it in the spirit it was intended.
Erland opened the door and inclined his head at Lak, Andriy and their children then blended into the house once again. Putting Peytor Lak made her way up the stairs and into the upper living room. Dimitri and Peytor followed quickly behind and then ahead of her.
“Grandpa!” the toddlers yelled running towards him for a hug. Bending down Mortis took his two grandson’s into his arms and hugged it. It was rare for anyone to see this side of him, in fact Lak was sure her children garnered more affection from Mortis than she did.
“Happy birthday dad, you’re getting old.” Lak greeted him with a smile and her tone upbeat and teasing
“It took you less then 5 minutes from your arrival to make an age joke at my expense, you have outdone yourself Lak.”
“Thank you.”
Mortis shook Andriy’s hand then looked at the wrapped gifts. The rather long box he scrutinized trying to figure out what it could be then looked up at Lak.
“Is this what I think it is Lak?”
“Seeing as I don’t read minds I don’t know dad. What do you think it is?”
“Come now dear, don’t get grumpy. It’s your birthday and the first time in 4 years Lak has been home to celebrate it. Even if it is what you think it is, take the gift as it was intended.” Indran chided him “Come sit down and open the gifts.”
Sitting down on the couch Andriy put his arm around Lak as she watched her father inspect the gifts. Taking the smaller one he slowly unwrapped it then smiled. She knew he would like the ancient tome she got him.
“Thank you, this is wonderful. May I ask where you found this Lak?”
“Kean’s parents shop. I told him what I had in mind and he was able to procure this for me.”
Mortis felt a tapping on his leg and looking down his grandson stood there with a very serious look, as serious as one can get for a five year old.“Grandpa, you are supposed to tear the paper not be all nice to it. Do you need me to show you how to do it?”
“No Dimitri, I know how to open gifts but thank you. I simply prefer to take my time in doing so.”
“Why?”
“Dimitri come here and sit with me while we watch Grandpa open his other gift. You too Peytor if you want.” Indran told the boys then made room as they hopped up and sat on her lap and next to her
Picking up the long box once again Mortis slowly unwrapped it then set it down on the floor. Opening the box a cane sat in it. It was made of solid oak, engraved with the family crest, Imperial and Sith symbols as well as a few choice Sith runes. The top of the cane was covered in a Silver top with a blood diamond in the middle. Stopping himself from snapping at her Mortis realized that Lak had put in a great deal of thought into it’s creation. He wasn’t native to think that it wasn’t also a shot at his age either.
“Are you trying to tell me that I might need this for every day use my child?”
“Yes and no. While yes it is a crack at your ancient years you can also use it when you have to really dress up and go out, like to the opera. I mean if you want to take it to the Citadel Vowrawn may crack endless age jokes when he sees it.”
“Dear...”
“Thank you Lak and Andriy. It is exquisite craftsmanship. I will be sure to use it when your mother and I go to the opening show of opera season.”
Soon the rest of the family joined them presenting Mortis with gifts for his birthday. No one had to ask who he had received the cane from.

Summary: Lak is unable to fend off the nightmares that plague her almost nightly and her mom decided to help and surprisingly Lak accepts.
Words: 1582
Pairing: Lak and Indran
Warnings: None, just a smidgen of angst
*****************************************
The moonlight reflected off the ocean in this cloudless night, waves gently coming ashore in a soothing rhythm. Lak stood at the window staring out wishing her mind was as calm as the waves but it was not. Glancing at the chrono it was just after midnight, she should be sleeping yet here she was. Her head dropped at the realization that she may only get two maybe three hours of sleep this night.
Indran could feel the turmoil her daughter was feeling and was worried. During the day Lak was her usual self, engaging, chipper and busy with work but at night she became more withdrawn and apprehensive. It didn't take a genius to see and feel how exhausted Lak was, each day adding to crushing weight due to lack of sleep. Indran could tell her daughter was starting to buckle under the weight of everything she was trying to handle.
A knock on her door broke her of her thoughts as she could see Laks head peek through.
“Mom? Are you awake?”
“Yes Lak. Are you alright?”
Stopping halfway across the room her eyes were rooted to the floor. “No, can't sleep.”
“What is keeping you awake?” Indran asked hoping Lak would open up honestly instead of avoiding what bothered her.
“Nightmares, they visit me nightly and I'm afraid to sleep. I'm so exhausted mom, I don't know what to do.” her tone quiet and voice cracking. She was showing a very vulnerable side of her right now and Indran knew how hard that was.
“You are welcome to stay with me tonight sweetie”
“I... I don't want to impose.”
“Lak you are hardly imposing when I made the offer. Come here and tell me what troubles you.”
Slowly walking to the side of the bed,  Lak was fighting every instinct in her that screamed run. It's not that she didn't trust her mother but she knew this was the most vulnerable she had seen her when she wasn't injured. Sitting down on the side of the bed she let her head drop in defeat.
“Ghosts of the planet coming back to haunt me, the same nightmare, same ending I just die differently each time. I haven’t had a full nights sleep in over a month.” turning her head to look over her shoulder, “I’m exhausted mom and I don’t know what to do.”
Moving over to make room Indran motioned to the now empty side of the bed. “I can help you if you wish.”
Slowly getting into the bed Lak saw Indran had her arm out in a silent invitation for her to curl up next to her. Realizing how badly she needed the comfort and safety of her mother's arms she moved into her mother's embrace.
“How can you do that?”
“I can push them away while you sleep. It would require you letting me in your mind as you slept but it would help.”
“You might not like what and who you see mom.” Lak warned her as she began to relax in her mother's arms.
Kissing the top of her head, “Let me worry about that sweetie, you get some rest.”
Lak hesitated for a moment, letting her mom into her head while she slept and was totally defenseless was the ultimate sign of trust. Only one person had earned that and it was her husband Andriy. Closing her eyes she lowered her mental shields and searched for Indran in the Force. Easily finding her she could feel her gently enter her mind binding them for the night.
“Your thoughts are rather chaotic Lak, you need to meditate more.”
“No kidding mom, they are always like this.” Lak snapped at her mother. She could feel soothing waves roll over her mind and she began to relax. “You're much gentler in my head than dad is.
“That does not surprise me in the least.”
Looking up fighting the sleep suggestion that Indran had deftly planted in her mind, “Please don't tell dad.”
“I won't sweetie, sleep and I will be here when you wake.” Kissing her head Indran pulled her closer happy Lak had shown that level of trust in her.
Laks eyes closed as she gave into the desire for sleep her mind and body needed. Indran read the reports on the planet while looking down at her slumbering daughter from time to time. It had been just over seven months since she had seen her oldest daughter and she had missed her. Running her fingers through her hair she couldn't help but smile at how peaceful she looked.
Weaving her way through her mind Indran set up shields to help ward off the nightmares she could feel at the edges of Lak’s mind. The unorganized nature of her daughters mind made it a bit more challenging but in the end she had erected the mental shields that should keep her mind at peace for the night. Looking further into her mind she could see images taking shape and they didn’t shock her as much as Lak had feared. It was very apparent that Lak hated Darth Gravus but now she truly understood why. Seeing how vicious he was towards her took her back for a moment. She knew Julian as her friend and Uncle to her children was vastly different than Julian as Laks Master. Despite the shields she erected to help keep the nightmares at bay she could feel the cold fear from Lak even as she slept. Combing her fingers through Laks hair she could feel her relax and her breathing return to normal. Setting her padd down Indran gently shifted so Lak was in her arms and joined her daughter going to sleep.
Lak slowly began to wake opening her eyes to an unfamiliar room. She could feel a pair of arms wrapped around her, taking a deep breath she quickly remembered where she was and who she was with. For a moment the thought of trying to slip out of bed and go back to her room flitted across her mind but the combination of the desire to sleep, the sleep suggestion planted by Indran and the desire for a feeling of safety ended that idea. Pulling the blankets back up she closed her eyes and went back to sleep.
The morning sunlight began to shine in the house and while Indran was never as early a riser as Alastar was, she awoke just after 7 am. Gently sliding her arms from Lak she looked at her still sleeping daughter and smiled. She knew full well that Lak had woken earlier but was happy she had chosen to stay. Bending down she kissed the side of Lak’s head, the side where her scars from the First Battle of Ord Pardron came to being. While she usually didn’t pay them much attention once in a while she would look at them and would remember how close she and her husband had come to losing her.
Starting to stir Lak stretched and rolled onto her back opening her eyes, the loving red eyes of her mother greeted her back. Indran could feel Lak gently nudging her out of her head and pulled out but not fast enough it would have been painful.
“Good morning Lak, how do you feel?”
“Morning mom, rested for once, well more rested than my usual exhaustion.”
“That is good to hear, you slept peacefully last night except when you woke briefly. I’m glad you stayed sweetie.”
“You were awake?”
“Not really but I could feel the bed move and slept a little lighter than usual to make sure you did sleep.”
Swinging her legs off the bed and running her hands over her face and then through her hair Lak wasn’t sure what to say, which was something she wasn’t used too.
“I’m going to fix breakfast before I head to work, would you like some mom?”
“Yes thank you Lak.”
“It’ll be ready in about 10 minutes, just eggs and toast. Sorry it isn’t anything fancier like you are used to at home.”
Getting up Indran pulled Lak into a hug and kissed the top of her head. Lak stiffened for a moment then returned the hug.
“Thank you mom.”
“You are welcome to join me again tonight, I would not mind it in the least.”
“We’ll see.” turning Lak headed downstairs to the kitchen and began cooking breakfast.
Breakfast was quiet as Lak wasn’t sure what to say and Indran did not want to push Lak anymore than she had too. Cleaning the table Lak headed back to her room and readied for the day, a day she planned on spending at the city headquarters and avoiding her mother if at all possible. Despite trying to make sense of last night and how she, a 35 year old combat tested Sith could end up in the arms of her mother just to sleep. Despite that she did appreciate what her mother did for her. Summoning a messenger she had two flowers and note simply saying thank you delivered to her house and placed on the pillow of her mothers bed.
Walking in after a meeting as to how to ensure the peace held so the Empire could continue to rebuild its mid-rim army Indran noticed two flowers on her pillow. Picking them up and opening the note it simply said:
Thank You
-L
Smiling she went downstairs and put the two flowers in a vase with water.

She was bored and that was never a good thing. Her parents had been on her ass about her head and now her injured knee. It was quarterlies so Andriy was busy as well. Tossing the push Mortis wrat into the air and catching it she tried to think of something to do. The fact she had the wrat had annoyed him as he found it “undignified” that a man such as himself was made into a children’s toy. Lak wasn’t sure her eyes ever rolled that far back into her head when she heard that. Let no person say her father didn’t have a pole up his ass.
Out of nowhere the idea came into her head and she got very excited and rather proud of herself with it. Hobbling upstairs she grabbed string and tied to the wrat. As she lowered it down over the banister she figured out how much string she needed to do it with out it being too long or too short to see. Smiling she couldn’t wait for dinner to come.
“This is going to be so much fun!” she said to herself.
Dinner later that night
Lak was full of energy in anticipation of the prank she was going to pull on her father. It didn’t take the Force to see she was excited.
“You’re bouncing in your seat tonight dear, what has you so excited?” Indran asked her
“Nothing much, just antsy from having to rest and not seeing Andriy.” That was a half truth, she was getting antsy from having to take it slow and not being able to do much physically
“I’m glad you are resting sweetie, the more you rest the sooner you will get back to doing what you do best.”
“Yes, yes mom I know. I’m finished with supper, may I be excused?”
“You may.” her father told her
Lak headed up stairs and readied the wrat. She knew he was almost finished and would soon be heading to his study to finish his work before he and mom watched the holo. Hearing him coming toward the stairs she began lowering the wrat down. It took every ounce of willpower for her to not bust out into laughter but she kept herself together.
Wrat met Dark Counselor at the perfect time. “Beware the eyes of Justice are watching, nowhere is safe”
Before he could snatch the wrat Lak yanked it back up laughing out loud. The look of annoyance on her fathers face was priceless. If anyone else saw it they would think someone had just insulted his honor.
“Lakadimos, what is this nonsense?” Mortis demanded to know
Trying to catch her breath her head popped up and looked down on him but she started laughing again.
“I’m ok, I’m good. It’s called a joke dad, normal people do things like this.”
“It wasn’t funny in the least bit.”
“I found it rather amusing myself dear.” Indran told them as she walked up.”Clever and harmless, well done Lak.”
“Thank you mom.”
“Why are you taking her side? Stunts like this undermine my authority.” his irritation at Lak clear in the Force and surprise at his wifes words clear on his face
“Dear, it was harmless fun and it hardly undermines it. It is not as if she is doing this in your office. Relax. You realize your reaction is only going to encourage her to do more of this.”
“Mom’s right.”
“Shut up Lak.” Mortis snapped at her “I am going to finish my work and I expect to not be disturbed.”
Indran walked up the stairs to where Lak was standing. “Be careful not to push it too far, you know how he can be.”
“I know, stick in the mud Mortis.”
Two weeks later Mortis found the wrat on his office desk with a pair of miniature glasses just like his reading a miniature data padd. a week later the wrat appeared on side table in the den sitting in its own council seat and then it disappeared for while.
Six months later
The wrat re-appeared in a new outfit, the new robes Mortis had gotten sitting atop the banister looking down on the family. Needless to say the non plushie Mortis was not happy with its re-appearance and annoyed that even though he had gotten rid of two of them his daughter seemed to have an endless supply of those damn things.

Indran was not prepared for the sight that greeted her eyes. She shouldn't have been surprised by it yet she was.
Mortis had called thier daughters holo to invite her and her husband to dinner. Indran wanted to try the authentic Suavax cuisine that lak has spoken so highly of. Unable to get a reply she and Alastar went to thier residence to see if everything was alright.
Walking in the house was quiet which added to her worry. Thier grandson Dimitri's toys were on the floor of the living room as were signs that Lak and Andriy were there as well. Walking to the door of the master bedroom she laid her eyes upon a sight that warmed her heart and made her smile.
Lak and Andriy were asleep on the bed with Dimitri between them. Andriys arm was on his sons leg while Lak had her hand on his arm. Instead of waking them she quietly turned and moved Alastar towards the door. Letting them be together after 7 months apart was more important this night than eating with the family.
