Luxury describes this sizably voluminous structure Hotel Sayaji which is one of the masterpiece in Saurashtra region in Gujarat designed by Architect Ishwar Gehi. This new luxurious space is designed for the community where visitors of all kinds – hotel guests and the general public – experience Royal yet Contemporary culture, while making it.

The site is located in one of the plush areas of Rajkot. On the east, west, and south we have an open plot and on the north side, we have a residential area which is the close proximity of the site.

The client brief was to have a very luxurious hotel. Hence the planning was done in such a way that the design should offer more luxury to the people and meet the desiderata of the people visiting.

The exterior façade of the hotel is designed uniquely in a roof pattern. The ingression canopy is an astronomically immense of about forty feet in height with a unique play of roof. The vertical LED strips in the façade enlighten the area during the dusk.

The Rajkot lies on 128m above sea level. The climate in Rajkot is referred to as a local steppe climate. There is not much rainfall in Rajkot all year long. In Rajkot, the average annual temperature is 26.7 °C | 80.1 °F. Hence the utilization of louvers is done in the exterior facade on the west side for protection from harsh sun rays and for privacy. Ample usage of plantation viz, Date-palm trees, Champa, Fiscus Panda is done to keep maintain the temperature. The design of the hotel was done to have eight floors.

The ground floor is designed to have two Banquet Halls viz Sapphire and Mahal, party lawn area, swimming pool, coffee shop, kitchen, wine shop. The wine shop has separate ingression from the ground floor.

The Sapphire banquet is designed in highly contemporary style which sets the mood right and spirits high to up the game altogether with extravaganza and opulence. The adorned hanging lights in the shape of umbrella steals the show complementing grey and white “ Gallicha” tiles. Here the private seating is partitioned with double scaled brick arches sanctioning one to relish the privacy.

The Mahal Banquet cumulates elegance and royalty, luxurious, and multifunctional contemporary spaces that can host a huge mob making ideal for any event. Mirrors, the unsung hero’s of the embellishment, making the area more spacious. The customized royal gold finish chandeliers have become a mark of supreme luxury and flamboyance, creating a royal effect.

There is an immensely colossal Party lawn area on the ground floor, extending its arms and welcomes you for a wide, open-air space to celebrate your big day.

Designed to embrace the privacy the pool adjacent to the banquet is designed for tranquility and relaxation. This Pool beckons its guest with its mesmerizing mosaic of blue, and the Buddha enhancing the placidity of the area. The green lush here sanctions, maintaining the temperature of the astringent sunrays of Rajkot city.

The cafeteria overlooking the swimming pool designed to have exposed concrete ceiling, informal designs, wooden finished tiles provides a warm and rustic interior escape from the hustle and bustle.

As we move further to the first floor we have an exorbitant reception area. The vibrant colors, artifacts, sofas, and comely lamps hung from the roof, the central water pot has played a vital role to keep the royalty of the space intact. Since the reception area is the focal point, Architect Ishwar Gehi has endeavored to bring out a striking balance between the design and functionality.

On the second floor there are two uniquely designed restaurants on the left side we have the “Horizon “restaurant and on the right side we have the “Craving” Restaurant.

Horizon restaurant offers a dramatic atmosphere in the interior by utilizing natural bamboo, forming spaces to dining and sitting. There is a utilization of around 15,000 bamboos’, which has broken the boundaries by cumulating the nature with the innovative use of material. Architect Ishwar Gehi has applied natural bamboo to space ingeniously in combination with “A” class bricks, the finest finished bricks allowing a play of shadow and light.

It sparkles, and no wonder the glasses hung from the ceiling in the Craving restaurant has illuminated the space in a dramatic way. The combination of red, yellow black & maroon and artifacts on the wall has made the space genial.

Both the restaurants are connected to the open kitchen and both the kitchen is connected via the service corridor. The services in the hotel have been centralized: the service lift, service staircase, housekeeping areas, storeroom form the core of the hotel structure making them facile access from all the major areas.

Not quite indoors, not quite outdoors, open-air eateries are an idyllic place to relish the gorgeous weather. This chick open space restaurant is designed to have a water body disuniting both the areas and maintaining a pleasant mood along with the green around. An intriguing installation of solar lights in the area, which absorbs the daylight and illuminated during the dusk time. One can have a view of the entire hotel from here.

The suite room is vibrant and spacious having an ingress foyer, a minuscule living room, bedroom and luxurious bathroom with a Jacucci and dressing area.

The premium grand room occupies its place on the third, fourth, fifth, and the seventh floor.

The Presidential rooms are very royal and luxurious which are sizably voluminous in size offers a blissful relaxation stay.

The connecting corridor’s/ passages have their own comeliness with the flooring done in leather finished yellow travertine Italian marble.

The Yellow and the woods on the third floor welcomes with warmth with lamps on the wall illuminating the space. The passage on the seventh floor is intriguingly designed with customized lamps with sittings sanctioned for one to repose while traveling.

The eight-floor has a royal touch with siting designed in “ Maharaja style”. The colossal wall clock and artifacts hung, Silver and copper lamps, designer tiles has dramatically changed the view of the area.

This beauty doesn’t skimp on style and offers the discerning travellers some serious lux.

Session 3. Data Protection Law in Singapore

Human Rights and Privacy

Under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948 (and that is now customary international law), Article 3 declares that “[e]veryone has the right to life, liberty and security of person”. In the United States, privacy rights such as the right to be left alone has become an outgrowth and a part of the right to life. More specifically, Article 12 of the Declaration states that “[n]o one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.” Privacy as a notion have evolved over time from a focus on spatial and physical privacy towards informational privacy.  

OECD Privacy Guidelines

The first comprehensive instrument that put forth the basic framework and principles for the protection of data privacy in the context of transborder data flow emerged in 1980 after years of development since the early 1970s. The OECD Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data was adopted by the Council of the OECD in the form of a Recommendation and was adopted and became applicable on 23 September 1980. The objective was to address concerns over the adequacy of personal data privacy and protection in the context of technological advancements in data storage and transfer that allows “vast quantities of data to be transmitted within seconds across national frontiers, and indeed across continents” that increases the risks of unlawful storage of personal data and the abuse or unauthorised disclosure of such data. There was also the concern that differences in national laws could impede smooth data flows relating to trade, commerce and social development. The main objective was thus to put forth common principles and encourage greater prescription and harmonisation of national laws as well as to uphold human rights relating to personal data privacy. The basic principles and concepts remain relevant to this day and appear in some form or another in the data protection law of every country that has one.

APEC Privacy Framework

The next significant step to convergence of laws to address the same issues was the APEC Privacy Framework which was adopted in 2004. The Cross-Border Privacy Rules System was implemented in 2011 and includes rules for self-assessment, compliance review, recognition and acceptance as well as enforcement and dispute resolution.

Fair Information Practices

The United States Federal Trade Commission produced a Report on a set of guidelines known as Fair Information Practice Principles after extensive studies into online privacy issues from the mid-1990s. The Report was made to Congress in 2000.

Scope and Application of the Singapore PDPA

Singapore carefully studied the data protection regime, models and concepts over the course of almost a decade before it introduced the PDPA in 2012. The PDPA entered into force in phases over the next two years and is now fully operational.

There is no absolute right to, or protection of, privacy and data protection. There are policy reasons for protecting private information but also in providing stronger measures of protection in some cases (in certain jurisdictions, there are referred to as “sensitive data”) while in others there are exceptions that either exclude the applicability of the data protection law or that lightens the burden of compliance by removing certain requirements or that provides a threshold test that, if met, protects the data collector/user from sanctions by the PDPC or the courts. The latter will be considered in the context of the core obligations of use, collect and disclosure. In relation to the former, general exceptions under the PDPA can be based on the nature or type of the data concerned, the role and objective of the data collector/user and intermediary, practical reasons and public policy objectives. These exceptions are contained in section 4, which relieves the subject concerned from the obligations under Parts III to VI of the Act relating to all personal data.

Examine the OECD Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data, the objectives of the Guidelines and the privacy principles. How are they relevant to the Internet age since it preceded the commercialization of Internet usage by ISPs in the mid-1980s?

What is the trend and overview of the data protection laws in Europe, the United States and the Asia-Pacific?

What is the objective of the PDPA and the approach to interpreting its provisions generally? What is the relationship of the PDPA to other sector specific privacy laws? What are the general exemptions to the data protection regimes in Singapore, Hong Kong and India?

Still over 100 outstanding issues, and developing the Gutenberg AT manual helps expose additional issues. The announcement of an accessibility focus on 4.9.9 derailed our planning for Gutenberg in September with minimal productivity, as that goal was quickly withdrawn from the schedule.

Big Win: Getting focus constraint implemented in popovers and similar components in Gutenberg.

We are seeking a Full-Stack Support Engineer to join the Production Support Engineering team to help support the full suite of enterprise-class web applications and third-party integrations that power the core Circles.Life experience. The candidate ideally would have experience working in structured environments following defined development and support methodologies and be able to propose new ones as necessary.

Our current tech stack includes: Ruby on Rails, React, Node.js, HTML/CSS, Bootstrap, JQuery, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, AWS, Linux, Git and Docker

Manage the existing application stack supporting our public facing websites and internal systems.

Debug the hardest of problems and design robust solutions to prevent them from happening in the future.

Propose and implement solutions to proactively reduce/prevent downtime, system outages, and security vulnerabilities.

Provide best practices and share knowledge with the rest of the organization.

Contribute to documentation and operational plans.

  Qualifications:

Good to have professional web application development experience.

Good to have Node.js / Ruby on Rails experience.

Knowledge of Web Application Architecture/Technical Design (web service design, OOP class design, performance/bottleneck analysis, etc).

Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases such as MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, etc.

Knowledge and understanding of AWS, Docker, Git etc.
