I was someone who was so excited when they announced they'd be doing another Thoroughbred, and I was also someone who was disappointed when the leaked versions came out. Ultimately I am glad they took more time to fix the coats, but the animations have aged poorly. The walk is still kind of broken and the other gaits just don't feel natural. I wish they had taken more time to perfect them, because I think we already need an updated version.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Clarence Matthew Baker — best known as Matt Baker — December 10, 1921 – August 11, 1959) was widely regarded as the master of the “good girl” style and is credited as the first successful Black comic book artist in the comics industry. Baker's friend Frank Giusto and artist Lee J. Ames have said that Baker was gay. Baker's brother Fred Robinson added of Baker and St. John Publications publisher Archer St. John, "They had a very close relationship. I don't know exactly what it was." To me Matt was the epitome of what Golden Age comic art could be. He was one of those artists that made it look easy. His art is a big influence on my own work.
