How we feeling about the Rook sleepwear card?
Everytime a rook card releases an angels gets it's wings I swear Been regularly opening the pic again on my phone to stare at it tbh, the embroidered "bonne nuit" is killing me/pos. idk why it's so funny to me and it makes his pjs looke like he got them from a fancy hotel/spa
Him, the Rouque, look at him
Tumblr media
And ! Because of that "bonne nuit" I thought about an (old and french) kid's tv program called "bonne nuit les petits" and it was puppets of the sandman and a bear and they talk to two sibling kids and tuck them in at the end of every episode (I think ?? I wasn't even born when it stopped airing on tv)
Tumblr media
(that's a bear beside sandman rook yea yeah, trust me)

We were robbed of potential Nedrick and Leonidas interaction...
Hear me out, I think it would have been hilarious to see if the two of them had a genuine conversation about their goals, because they might be getting amped up and mutually excited that they could be powerful allies only for it all to go down in flames the second they give each other details on their dreams. Because they're so in lockstep with each other about so many of their views, and then they just go an entirely opposite way with them.
Even if I discount Leonidas' initial 'strong eat weak' vs. Nedrick's 'weak rise up' mentality, you still get hilarity all the same.
For example...

Hello! So I'm taking a few days of vacation in Brittany and today I went to Penmarc'h to see the Phare d'EckmĂŒhl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a project that had been decided for a while when Davout's daughter made an unexpected donation, provided the lighthouse would be dedicated to the memory of her father. As you can see, the wish was respected.
It was constructed and first lit in 1897. It's still active and one of the tallest lighthouses in the world. I climbed the 307 steps to the top and it's worth it.
I think Davout would appreciate having that sort of legacy: practical and life-saving.

Mystery Dungeon doodz
(Luke and Boo, the Helioptile and Hoothoot, belong to Skeline)
They're overhearing some expeditions plan I bet
au notes I didnt share:
Mae is a merchant and has romantic feelings for Phare who feels guilty for not being so nice to him at times.
Rubie is a newbie in exploration so she follows Puffin, Ru and Allie's footsteps.
Those three aren't the brightest ones out here..
Also Mae is very kind and optimistic. Always encouraging Rubie to explore with the others.
While Phare cannot bear their presence at all. He does try to teach Ru some manners when she occasionally visits him.

Me is back!
Phew, guys, it was a close call!
Now, I can hear you thinking "what happened?" (or not, but you're going to learn all about it anyway )
First for a small explanation on how I deal with the sims: One world, one all new game, as is put the one I'm playing away, and make another all new, all virgin "the sims 3" and put the One custom world I'm doing at the moment.
And then start hunting CC.
Tis good, because I have quite different themed worlds, and if I tried to have all in one save, my poor PC would probably get depression, go feral and try to kill me.
Still, the CC hunting part is something. So far, nothing out of the ordinary... at least for me.
And Vogoel is sort of a French Normand/Breton place who can't ha the same CC as my Parisian region Fouilly les Oyes, no?
But then...
Then...
I had a CAS crisis.
AAArgh!!! It had been years. (I hate CAS)
But I want Vogoel les Mouettes to be a contemporary place (sort of)... and have modern Simmies and not go back to my usual vintage look.
What was I thinking?
Guys, I'm officially an old. The compulsory cropped top and belly button galore is NOT my jam. Nor is that weir combo or the low neck tee with knitted thing that leases half yours boobs out.... combined with a mini skirt who should be called a belt.
Seriously. T'was hard.
Not that I didn't work on Vogoel. First, we have Le phare du Cormoran
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is the in came lighthouse... with a house build around it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It will be home to captain Merlu (eh, not everybody can be a Haddock), his nephew/mousse Titou, and their dog Gaufrette
Next is one of Vogoel Landmark, le ChĂąteau de Petrel
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As castle goes, it is not that huge, but one must admit it has the "location, location, location!" part down pat. It is livable as is, even if the floorplan is a wee bit weird.
Next, I'm not going to upload this one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's one of the library RH I HAD to use because the espadon on the building, and I added a small flower shop on the side. Cute, but easy build.
So, here it is for this week, more to come in the future. Wishing you a delightfull sunday full of cool stuff!

beaucroix. seriously, put down your map, because you won't find it. not properly, anyway. it's that island your gps pretends doesn't exist, the one you end up on when you take a scenic detour that turns into a freaky adventure. i swear, this place is like a glitch in the usual tourist’s matrix. turns out, beaucroix is that tiny blip of an island where time apparently goes to take a nap
first impression? like someone took a postcard of a french fishing village, dipped it in a bucket of pastel paint, and then forgot to hit the fast-forward button. cobblestone streets, the kind that make your suitcase wheels hate you, twist around houses that look like they’ve been arguing with the ocean for centuries. the air? salty, lavender-y, and occasionally, you’ll get a whiff of this bread that smells like pure, unadulterated happiness. seriously, the bakery here? heaven
the ocean’s always humming, like it’s trying to tell you a secret in a language you barely understand. pink sand beaches, gulls screaming like they’re running a shitty bird convention, the whole nine yards. and at night? forget about it. lanterns everywhere, fireflies doing their thing by the water, and this lighthouse that flickers even when there’s no one up there. wind, they say
 yeah, right
here’s the thing about beaucroix: it’s got a memory problem. or, maybe, it remembers too much. you get the feeling, wandering around, that you’ve stepped into someone else’s dream. or maybe your own
 from a long time ago
there’s plume & tasse, this bookstore-slash-cafĂ© where the coffee’s basically magic and people write poems in the margins of old books. and auberge du phare, the tavern by the sea, where you’ll hear stories that’ll make your eyebrows do a confused dance. sailors, weirdos, guys who look like they’ve seen too much
they all end up there. and if you’re brave (or just plain nosy), there are caves, hidden gardens, and doors that lead to
 well, who knows?
the locals? they’re used to it. streets changing overnight? letters showing up with no return address? shadows doing the limbo? meh, tuesday. they don’t freak out about lights in the forest where there shouldn’t be a light. they just shrug and say “beaucroix.”
look, it’s not haunted, okay? not in the ghost-chain-rattling kind of way. it’s more like
it’s holding onto something. or someone. and if you’re lucky enough to find your way here, it just might keep you, too
next up

- locations
- town history
- some more stuff i haven’t scripted yet
also i don’t speak french
sorry if the words are wrong 😭

youtube
Françoise Madeleine Hardy 17 January 1944 – 11 June 2024) đŸŒč was a French singer-songwriter and actress. Mainly known for singing melancholic sentimental ballads, Hardy rose to prominence in the early 1960s as a leading figure of the yĂ©-yĂ© wave.
In addition to her native French, she also sang in English, Italian and German. Her career spanned more than fifty years with over thirty studio albums released.
Born and raised in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, Hardy made her musical debut in 1962 on French label Disques Vogue and found immediate success through the song "Tous les garçons et les filles". Drifting away from her early rock and roll influences, she began to record in London in 1964, which allowed her to broaden her sound with albums such as Mon amie la rose, L'amitiĂ©, La maison oĂč j'ai grandi and Ma jeunesse fout le camp
.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, she released Comment te dire adieu, La question and Message personnel, to further establish her artistry. In this period, she worked with songwriters such as Serge Gainsbourg, Patrick Modiano, Michel Berger and Catherine Lara. Between 1977 and 1988, she worked with producer Gabriel Yared with the albums Star, Musique saoĂ»le, Gin Tonic and À suivre. Her 1988 record DĂ©calages was widely publicized as Hardy's final album, although she returned eight years later with Le danger, which completely reinvented her sound to a harsher alternative rock. Her following albums of the 2000s—Clair-obscur, Tant de belles choses and (ParenthĂšses
) - saw a return to her mellow style. In the 2010s, Hardy released her last three albums: La pluie sans parapluie, L'amour fou, and Personne d'autre.
Hardy remains one of the best-selling singers in French history, and continues to be regarded as an iconic and influential figure in both French pop and fashion.

Hii, I’m trying to learn Russian by incorporating it into my general vocabulary/replacing English words with Russian ones. Do you have any common words or phrases and would be a good starting place for a beginner? Also sorry if this is a very broad question, I’m very lost. Thanks, x
You should start with the most common words in Russian, you can find lists and probably even videos of that online(videos are better for learning pronunciation). You can learn names of your household objects and say them out loud as you see them in your daily life. You can then try to not just name them, but say what they do, if you want to practice verbs. Also search for videos with phares for beginners, try to connect words with phares
A list of 100 most common words: https://www.russianpod101.com/russian-word-lists/?coreX=100
While your method can be okay for memorizing vocabulary, please remember that Russian isn't just English grammar with different words. For now it may be too early to start actually learning the grammar, but when you feel ready - find yourself a textbook and, again, videos. Find channels you like, watch as much as you can, write down notes. Writing things down by hand is also a good tool for memorizing things, you should write everything down if you are able. Re-read your notes often, repetion is also important
A pretty good channel for beginners: https://www.youtube.com/@EasyRussianVideos
You can also listen to podcasts about Russian and just in Russian, listen to radio, find music that you like
Russian radio: https://radio.pp.ru/?_gl=1*kpp3wr*_ga*MjA3MjE1NjM1OC4xNzAxMDE2MzI3*_ga_0M8S7FSMVJ*MTcxOTU5MDk5Ny4yNi4wLjE3MTk1OTA5OTcuMC4wLjA. Russian Made Easy Podcast: https://russianmadeeasy.com/

Cambodia has a long history of performing arts that share commonalities with what is grouped under the "circus" banner nowadays. And like many of the country's ancient artforms, these traditions of acrobatics found themselves oppressed and vilified by the Khmer Rouge regime of dictator Pol Pot during the late 1970s. Inspired and supported by Maoist China, the Khmer Rouge intended to replace the country's old culture with a completely new one based on communist ideals. As such, traditional craftsmen and artists were routinely executed along with any dissidents, their relatives and even acquaintances. Cultural persecution thus became a part of one of the worst genocides of the 20th century.
Decades after this genocide, Cambodia still grapples with its consequences, not just in psychological terms but also the economic ripples of missing almost entire generations. As such, cities like Battambang, which was close to the border with Thailand and teeming with refugees, found themselves with high rates of poverty and children living on the streets. It was in this context that Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) was born in 1994.
A team of now adults, who had spent their childhood in refugee camps in Thailand, found themselves inspired by an art therapy program. This made them see their PPS initiative as a way to give other generations of disadvantaged children and young people the tools necessary to change their lives. While PPS's headquarters continue to be based in Battambang, their international flagship is Phare, the Cambodian Circus.
Most Phare performers may have originally lived in Battambang, but they now perform several shows per week in Siem Reap, the country's main tourist city. Their circus style takes some queues from the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil, highlighting human acrobatics and an artistic approach to their shows. Phare does not shy from references to the country's troubled history along with universal themes of strife. Phare has several shows that rotate on their performances. "Khmer Metal," for example, starts in a tourist pub the morning after a wild night, and features imagery like beer towers and drunk brawls, while "Influence" shows an authoritarian antagonist in a Mao-collared shirt.
Phare's aesthetic is a bit more DIY than Cirque du Soleil's current shows, but it is all part of their social enterprise aspects. Funds from their performances support PPS's other initiatives, which not only train future performers but also assist schools, art programs, and current performers' families. Following the massive negative impact of COVID-19 in tourism-focused Siem Reap, PPS needed an extreme act to raise additional funds for its reestablishment. It was this that led to their March 2021 performance. Including members of their Battambang and Phare crews, the show lasted just over 24 hours, earning them the still-standing (as of mid-2024) Guinness World Record for longest circus performance.

Dear Niko,
I do realize I only sent my last letter a few days ago, and it is likely not in your hand yet, but you did demand an immediate account of my return to school, and so here we are.
St Hilarion remains largely equal to itself. The repairs to the gymnasium were conducted in time, which means that I have a decent chance of avoiding rugby classes in the middle of winter this year. The rest of the buildings are just as old and decrepit as they used to be, and my room still smell terribly musty. Simon Waller, despite my dearest wishes, has neither fallen off the surface of the earth, nor thought of anything more entertaining than calling me Tinker Bell. I suppose I should be grateful, at this point, for his lack of imagination: I shudder to imagine the things he would call me if he were in possession of a single creative bone. Although, perhaps then he would come up with something offensive enough to force the adults to react and finally put a stop to his harassment. One can always dream.
In happier news: Simon and I do not share a homeroom this year. I was, as you can imagine, deeply relieved to learn this. Most of his posse is also with him, which I dearly hope will allow me some feeling of safety if only during my core classes. I will need all the study time I can get if hope to get A's on all my GCSEs, and Simon and his group are too significant a distraction.
There is a new student in my class. His name is Charles, he used to study on the other side of town, and he had swept half our year off their feet by the end of first period. He is handsome enough, but very charming: he seems to be perpetually smiling or laughing, is sociable, amiable, and respectful enough of teachers to be forgiven the few lapses he has shown so far. By the end of the day, I had overhead both his math and biology teacher praise his upbeat approach to classes, and his obvious determination to do well. Yesterday in English, he was one of the few students to have done the summer reading, which is a surefire way to get on Mrs. Devlin's good side.
Perhaps the only teacher who was not immediately enthused was Mr. Phare, the PE teacher. Charles apparently has some sort of special dispense for swimming classes, a condition linked to chlorine... Only Mr. Phare must not have been informed beforehand, so when Charles showed up in his regular uniform, covered wrists to ankles, instead of a swimsuit, Mr. Phare became quite irritated and nearly had him thrown out.
Fortunately for him, Charles is otherwise an excellent sportsman. He has since applied for a d successfully joined the boxing club, the basketball team, the tracks club, and the criquet team, of which he seems to have become an immediate hero. I must admit that I was glad we were not assigned to the same group in that class: PE is torture enough without the added humiliation of having some sort of sports whiz witness my shame.
I must admit his presence worries me. Not because of him, I assure you! He seems perfectly respectful so far, and I have been trying to heed your advice and be less pessimistic, therefore I will assume this persona of his is genuine until and unless I am proven wrong. I do however find him intriguing, which as you know usually means I forget that it is impolite to stare at others. Should that happen, and should Simon or one of his friends notice it, I have no doubt they would turn this against me somehow. After all, you know how these boys are: always insinuating things about people's sexualities to make them feel bad about themselves.
Of course, such accusations would be entirely unfounded, but if Charles Rowland must learn of my existence at any point this year, I would rather it weren't as the odd boy with an unsettling infatuation on him. Not, of course, that its at all likely to happen, but sometimes I cannot help but worry.
I suppose we shall have to wait and see what this year has in store for both of us, then.
Best regards,
E. P.

I don't think that we, as a community, properly discuss the implications of Nedrick and Euden sharing a voice actor, because of course they do.
I mean, does that just imply they both could adopt each other's range??? Listen to them both in the English audio. Heck, just bust out Nedrick's 'Boom' sticker if nothing else, and compare it to one of Euden's on the wiki or something. Then imagine Euden with Nedrick's tone and vice-versa.
Was Nedrick just pitching himself as low as he could go to sound tough?? On the contrary, is Euden pitching himself up to somehow try to appear non-threatening or cheerful???
Because, regardless of what is going on, the answer is funny.

The AU has a world on Toyhouse now, please check it out!
Introducing more Characters for the Mystery Dungeon AU. But first, here's a map of the Edenweiss village, located in the forgotten lands, away from everything but the neighbor village, Old Beyond (by Skeline)
Tumblr media
Now, meet (or meet AGAIN) Shoutout and Mumu
Tumblr media
They're platonic partners living in a huge mountain with their offsprings. They love every single one of them. The couple also adopts and take care of other species. They're Rubie's (the furret in previous posts) foster parents. They also rescued Puffin and his teammates. Puffin may be an Excadrill but they're not related.
Tumblr media
This little imp is a wanderer called Blessing. He's a Zorua and he uses his powers to trick people and steal their food
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Myrtle is also a wanderer and had quite a past. Oblivion and Patience being part of it. Myrtle used to live is a very wealthy town. She caught the eyes of those shady crows who were more than interested in her. Her best friend Plume (belongs to Ske) was more than encouraging her to trust them. She ended up being engaged to Patience.
One night, she overheard the duo arguing over.. her!? Patience wanted to marry her only for the money. Oblivion wanted to sell her rare and special feathers but also wanted to keep her to himself out of greed. She ran away from them, leaving Plume behind. She still feels guilty to this day.
In the present, she got lost in the forest and came across Phare (the Ampharos) and followed him to Edenweiss. But to her unfortune, Oblivion and Patience were there too..
extra art for the AU
