the Underworld is the only godly realm that was built on capitalism

So what's Olympus built on? Socialism? Are the gods and nymphs there living the good life compared to their underworld counterparts? Are Zeus and Hera good monarchs even if they're not good people? Or is it just bad in a different way?

Olympus does still participate in capitalism to a degree (especially considering that they do a lot of buying and selling between the Underworld, ex. Kore isn't the only one who travels for work between realms) but the realm was originally built on offerings and bartering which is a tradition that's still maintained between the gods themselves - and it's a big reason why they care for the mortals at all, because without their prayers and offerings, the entire foundation of their realm and the gods' status as rulers would crumble.

So in that way, the gods in power - aside from Hades who is an exception we'll touch on in a second - don't really care about the societal institutions of money, because money just doesn't really serve any function for them that the mortals' offerings - and their own abilities as gods - aren't already providing them. The capitalist system that exists in Olympus is more so to serve the residents who aren't being actively worshipped, such as the nymphs and satyrs (though some are lucky to gain recognition in ways that benefits them through offerings) and for budding gods who don't have as much influence in the Mortal Realm yet (such as Kore).

That said, there are plenty of complaints to be made about Hera and Zeus regardless of the economy that exists within Olympus, buuuut we'll be getting into those issues later ;3 As for the quality of life of Olympus vs. the Underworld, there are pros and cons to both, as with any economic system. The Underworld has a bit of a steeper divide between the rich and poor, but living in Olympus comes with the caveats of being in Zeus' territory where life can be... unpredictable, to say the least. BUT the Underworld being built on the free market has provided it with unique advantages through their technological advancements (ex. the existence of cars and cellphones in both realms is largely owed to the Underworld); whereas Olympus has greater access to the resources of the gods themselves due to literally being the home of the King of the Gods who everyone tries to keep in their good graces.

We've seen a mini example of this bartering system already back in Episode 56: Hera telling Kore she was going to help her with her garden wasn't just the Queen dishing out orders, she was telling Kore that gardening would be a sufficient enough trade for having her in her home and feeding her.

She's not offering to feed Kore for free (which WOULD be an honor coming from the Queen), she's telling her "I'll provide you with the company of royalty and good food / wine / etc. in exchange for your gardening services." (that said, it is still sort of a high honor in and of itself considering Hera wouldn't let just anyone tend to her property ;3)

But that brings us to the exception - Hades. The Underworld had to be built on a different system due to many of its gods and goddesses not being commonly worshipped, so offerings and tributes were hard to come by. For Hades especially, how was he supposed to earn the favors of mortals when they wouldn't even dare speak his name? This led to him having to build the Underworld on the value of specific resources - such as the minerals and metals and gemstones found in the Underworld itself - which were later refined into common currency that's now used across the realms.

Fun fact, this is also why Kore is ticked off that the Underworld costs a toll to enter for both shades and gods alike - because there isn't a toll booth to get into Olympus.

To wrap up this fun lil' lore dump, there's a WIP scene I have on the back burner that goes into greater detail on Olympus' bartering systems but I haven't had the chance to work it naturally into the story yet, I'm hoping it'll be included in an upcoming episode soon but it's basically a cute lil' shopping sequence between Persephone, Artemis, and Daphne :' )

💗✨ Aphrodite’s Altar Diaries: Love Spell 001 – Call It In, Honey ✨💗

subtitle: a soft + spicy ritual to open the door, not force it shut

Hey babes,

This is my first entry in what I’m calling my Aphrodite’s Altar Diaries, a digital spellbook-slash-love-letter to those of you walking with Her, calling in connection, or just curious about a little divine romance. 🌹

Recently, I did a love spell—both for myself and for a friend.

You can totally use this for a specific person (yes, your SP, whether it’s your crush, your ex, your favorite idol, your local barista) or to just call in love in general. You’re not forcing anything this isn’t a puppet spell. It’s more like opening a window and saying, “Hey universe, I’m ready to meet this person. Let us vibe and see where it leads.”

If it’s not meant to work out, it won’t, but now you’ll know rather than wonder.

Aphrodite’s magic is soft and clear like that. She opens the door but doesn’t push anyone through it.

💕 What You’ll Need (and Why)

This is a burning bowl-style spell, and you probably already have most of the ingredients in your kitchen.

🕯️ You’ll need:

A fire-safe bowl or mini cauldron

A charcoal tab (or just burn it outside if needed!)

A cute cup or bowl for mixing (mine’s a Hello Kitty blind bag find—Aphrodite loves cute shit)

A teaspoon or something small to mix with💗

🌿 The herbs & flowers (use what you have don’t stress):

Jasmine flowers – opens the heart chakra and draws in love

Bay leaves – for manifestation and connection

Rosemary – forgotten love herb! Passion + loyalty + clarity

Lavender buds – soothing, calming, brings ease into love

Rose petals – obviously, Queen Aphrodite’s favorite

Lemon balm – calming + sweet energy (burn-only, don’t ingest random ones off Amazon)

Peppermint – love + healing (calling in the healed version of someone is key!)

Thyme – purification + healing + courage

Dill – love, lust, spice. Because you don’t want lukewarm affection

Mugwort – psychic clarity + enchantment

Black pepper – adds kick + speed to spells

Cinnamon – attraction + power + sweetness ( also speeds up the spell)

Coriander seeds – for longevity, connection, and emotional openness

Fennel seeds – protection + clarity

💡 Pro tip from my kitchen witch aunt (a green witch through and through):

Cook with intention. Even tea can be a spell if you brew it with a purpose.

🩷 Optional (But Powerful): Personal Taglock

This one might sound weird to some, but hear me out—hair.

Hair, nails, teeth (yes, teeth), anything from your body is energetically you. I grew up in a household where we never let others keep our hair, and burned it instead. Your hair holds your essence. Including a piece in a love spell binds the spell to you.

I usually use a few strands I naturally shed when detangling or washing my curls.

🔥 The Ritual (Spell Time!)

1. Mix all your ingredients in your cute little bowl or cup.

2. Light the charcoal tab (if using) and place it in your cauldron or fire-safe bowl.

3. Once it starts crackling, pour your mix on top and let it burn.

4. While it’s burning, speak your intention aloud. Or use this:

“I open the road. I align.

This love is divine.

No fear, no bind, no weight in my chest.

Just truth, just love, just soul at rest.

Bring forth the path where we both are free,

And call [his/their] spirit back to me.”

Feel free to replace “his/their” with a name or leave it general if you're manifesting new love. This spell works either way.

Let it burn out completely. The charcoal will go for a while. You can:

Toss the cooled ashes into a plant, garden, or park

Store them in a jar until you can return them to nature

Or toss them into the wind if you’re up high enough (like my aunt’s 16th-floor balcony facing the river—perfect spot)

I actually wasn’t planning to post this. But while meditating with Aphrodite after doing this spell with my friend, She leaned in and gave me a soft little nudge:

“You should share this. Some of your people need it right now.”

This inspired me to write a sort of Mini Fanfic! I hope anyone who reads it likes it!

A young woman sat in front of the lawyer’s desk, not meeting the well dressed woman's eyes as her heart started to beat faster in her chest. She knew this was going to come up eventually. It had taken months for her to find anyone who believed her in the slightest, and now that someone did… she was choking on her words. She supposed in all her panic she had never really had time to think how she would explain it. For the last 4 months She had been looking for anyone, anything that could help her, all while on the run from her soon to be ex-husband. 

She had tried to tell the police, at first. She had looked for other people who knew what she was going through and even visited every church she could looking for answers. Legal action had never even occurred to her, because what court of law would believe something like this? She hadn't even believed it at first. But after what felt like an eternity… she had found someone who believed her. She knew she would be forever grateful to Sister Bernadette, not just for believing but for bringing her here. As it turned out, demons and fey and other non-human creatures (she was studiously trying to avoid the word monsters) had to live by certain rules themselves. They just answered to a different court, one most people didn’t know existed. She had finally found someone who could help her… and she had no idea how to explain what she needed “It’s not about my divorce.” She started “I mean, it is about my divorce, it’s just… that's not the part that…” She sighed, frustrated. Across the desk the older lawyer chuckled slightly, a kindly smile on her face “Look. There's no reason to be worried. I know whatever you’ve been through has been… extreme. I believe you. So just take a deep breath… and start from the beginning.”  The young woman took a deep breath… and started talking. She spoke about her husband, the man she thought she’d spend the rest of her life with, the man who she had loved, the man who had hurt her more than she had thought possible. The man who spent months lying to her, gaslighting her, terrifying her, attacking her, threatening her, and had shattered both her heart and innocence in less than a year. She spoke of his friends, of fake smiles and false kindness, of accusation of insanity, of self doubt and cruel lies. She even spoke of her newborn son, of strange eyes but adorable smiles, of innocent crying and horrific destinies. As she reached the end her eyes shifted to the waiting room, taking a moment to remind herself that her little body, her Andy, was just in the other room, being watched by a very understanding and kind receptionist. By the end she was crying, and could barely meet the older woman's eyes. When she finally glanced up, she was shocked by the quiet rage she saw in her eyes. It took a moment to realize that she wasn’t angry at her, but for her. It wasn’t disgust or fury, but righteous anger. The lawyer smiled slightly, a confident smile that gave the woman a sense of strength, before she spoke. “We can definitely help you. We’ll take your case pro-bono and have an entire team working on it. Any lawyer worth their degree can see you’ve got a case, especially since you never even agreed to the deal. I won’t make any promises, but I’ll do everything in my power to get you justice, and custody of your son.” She said, sending her new client a comforting grin. “You won’t be in this alone.”

The younger woman smiled, tears streaming down her face as tension left her body. For the first time in months… Rosemary felt like everything was going to be ok.

"I don't quite understand, ma'am. This firm specializes in lawsuits against wish-granting genies, contract-writing devils, and deal-making fey spirits, why do you want us to handle your divorce?"

Toward the end of Materialists, Celine Song’s exploration of the contradictions of dating and modern love, pragmatic professional matchmaker Lucy (Dakota Johnson) reaches an epiphany.    “When you love someone, it’ll be easy,” she says. “There’s no math.” Until then, Lucy relied on a quantitative approach in determining matches for her clients — and herself. Her data-driven methodology also comes through in her professional aesthetic, full of straight lines and formulas of solid neutrals, as crafted by costume designer Katina Danabassis. But, as Lucy allows love into the equation, her wardrobe begins to bloom, sometimes literally with florals. Lucy’s chic, straightforward lineup of suit separates and classic, fine-knit cardigans is partially informed by Song’s own experience working as a matchmaker in New York City — a fun fact that adds depth to the character’s style. “It was important to convey that [Lucy] wasn’t stealing anyone’s shine when it came to her clients. It has to be professional, and appeal to a high-end clientele,” Danabassis, who led costume design for Song’s last (and very different) love-triangle film, Past Lives. “When you’re millionaire matchmaking, you have to look the part. But also not come across as someone who’s necessarily available.”  Lucy eventually allows herself to be available when confronted with two options: the seemingly-perfect financier Harry (Pedro Pascal) and her ex-boyfriend John (Chris Evans), a struggling actor who still lives with roommates. Ahead, Danabassis takes us through how Lucy’s love story unfolds through her wardrobe. Lucy’s Power Suit Always focused, Lucy targets new clients as she commutes to work — and her outfits support the pitch. In the opening scenes, she confidently strides in a strong-shouldered Aritzia blazer and knee-high Paris Texas boots, nearly causing finance bro Robert (Eddie Cahill) to have whiplash as he walks in the opposite direction. “I was really interested in the idea of putting her in a power suit,” says Danabassis. “Not only because it’s a little bit fresh, but also it seems to be something of a bygone era.”  Reflecting a NYC, always-on-the-move sense of dressing, the costume designer teamed the navy pinstripe blazer with a black, wide-striped mini skirt from a Versace suit and a white satin Banana Republic blouse. ”It just felt very New York; timeless, but powerful, modern, but throwback — and iconic,” says Danabassis, referencing a standout memory of a woman in a skirt suit and Dries van Noten-esque thigh-high boots strutting across Bowery Street in Manhattan.  Danabassis also dropped in an Easter egg.“It’s also a nod to Working Girl,” she says, referring to the 1988 classic starring Johnson’s mom, Melanie Griffith, whose character famously wore sneakers with skirt suits to the office. Lucy’s Blue Gown Lucy’s a top performer at work — with nine marriages to her credit. She’s even invited to the latest nuptials of two high-net-worth (and high-maintenance) individuals. Lucy opts for a strapless, draped Proenza Schouler dress in a striking peacock blue that attracts the eye of the viewer and Harry, the rich, swoon-worthy brother of the groom. “We need something that pops. But simultaneously, it shouldn’t be something that’s going to steal any shine from the bride,” says Danabassis of her thinking, which led to the pairing of the “origami-style dress” with silver Bottega Veneta heels. “Also, the dress is not too fussy. In reality, yes, it was a fussy dress. We had to make sure that it was tied perfectly [at the back]. But it was really simple. Like, you can function in it.” Lucy multitasks like a pro: crisis managing the bride’s cold feet, charming potential new clients, and slipping out of the opulent ballroom to reconnect with John, a cater-waiter at the reception. Like, [Lucy and Harry] were going on a date somewhere, and she’s trying to do her special thing and get more in tune with herself. Unboxing the Autel IM508 and XP400 Pro

The Autel IM508+XP400 Pro is a highly cost-effective combination designed to maximize IMMO functions. Today, we present an unboxing illustration of this powerful pairing.

Upon opening the carton, we are greeted by a sleek black packing box with distinct, hard lines. Let’s take a closer look at each component individually.

Autel IM508 Overview:

Inside the packing box, we find the IM508 Tablet and XP200 Key Programmer neatly placed on one side.

The front, back, and top views of the IM508 are displayed in the following image. At the top of the device, from left to right, we have the Lock/Power Button, USB Port, DOIS-Pin Port, Micro SD Card Slot, and Mini USB OTG Port.

Moving on, the next image showcases the front, back, and bottom views of the XP200 Key Programmer.

On the other side of the packing box, various cables and adapters are neatly arranged.

XP400 Pro Overview:

The packing box includes an array of cables and adapters that complement the XP400 Pro.

After several months of use, I am genuinely impressed with the IM508 and XP400 Pro’s performance.

I have successfully performed “All Keys Lost” on my 2007 Honda S2000 and programmed a new replacement key. Unlike my main immobilizer programmer, which failed to detect the ECU on this car, the IM508 flawlessly communicated with the vehicle’s computer, enabling successful key programming.

Moreover, I utilized the IM508 on my 2009 Honda Civic EX-L Coupe to reset a persistent ABS/VSA trouble code that my Bluetooth scanner and Torque app couldn’t resolve. Thanks to the IM508, after replacing a wheel speed sensor, I now have fully functional ABS and VSA systems.

I also applied the same ABS fault reset on a 2012 Honda CR-Z, which displayed a “low battery voltage” ABS code after the non-hybrid battery died. The dealership intended to charge my sister over $150 for a diagnosis, but with a new battery and a simple code reset using the IM508, everything was back to normal.

The only additional feature I wish the unit possessed is the ability to wirelessly connect via Bluetooth to the vehicle’s OBD II port, similar to some higher-priced scanners, or to pair with my existing OBDLink MX+ device.

No, I Am Not Dead!

As if anyone notes I haven’t posted lol.

So, it’s been a minute since I’ve posted here, whether that be a review or showcase of any kind, so it’s time I changed that.

BEHOLD! THE FIRST PAINTJOB OF THE BLOG!

Ok, it really doesn’t deserve that great an entrance. Here’s the story:

This is my “Power A” brand Mini Pro EX controller, which was originally designed as a companion of traditional 360 controllers, just in a smaller package with more sensitive bumpers. In my case, this sees very little use on my console and far more use as a gamepad for my PC.

Originally, this controller was a translucent green and has built in LED lights under the bumpers and command buttons. It looked pretty sick, but the look got old after a while. This led me to the ultimate decision to repaint it.

Now, the downside for the timing of the decision was a complete lack of proper space to paint in the garage. This lack of space meant that the alternative to spray painting the pieces was brush painting, something I had never done before (and a fact that certainly shows). Regardless, I struck out on a limb, did the base coat, top color work, and detailing (however little of that there is) by hand and sprayed on the clear coat as it wouldn’t ruin any of the things in the garage.

The result: a passable first attempt at a brush painted design while using limited resources and space. Without even planning, I made it into the Asimov design, reminiscent of the one found in CS:GO.

Could be worse, could be better, and I’ll probably redo it soon, but it shall do for the moment.

-You two hadn’t talked for about a week now and Bakugou feared that you had had enough of him and you would break up if he called. 

-He felt awful.

-He just wanted to go back home to you, kiss you, hug you, be back in his normal routine with the love of his life but no he had to be stubborn and push you to your limits with a silly argument that he doesn’t even remember what the fuck it was about. 

-It was the third sleepless night for him and he couldn’t stop his brain from drifting to you and what you might be doing. 

-You on the other hand were terrified out of your mind. 

-Not long after Katsuki stormed out of your apartment you had started getting texts from an unknown number saying things like “He is finally gone” and “Now we can be together again dolly.” 

-The nickname had sent shivers down your spine, memories of your toxic/yandere ex flooding your mind. 

-Katsuki had helped you run away from him and heal after those dark days. 

-Walking to the kindergarten you worked at became a constant threat.

-You were always looking behind your shoulder for anyone who might be following you, coming very close to calling Katsuki more than once when you thought that you had caught a whiff of your ex. 

-You began asking your coworkers to walk home with you using the excuse that it felt kinda lonely walking alone.

-Things reached a tipping point when the photos started coming in. 

-Photos of you in your class helping the kids, on your way to the station to catch your train every morning and even from inside your own house. 

-Photos of you putting on one of Katsuki’s hoodies was filled with manic scribbles of the word stop as a big red circle was drawn around your boyfriend’s sweatshirt. 

-It terrified you and you wanted nothing else than to call Katsuki and beg him to come back. 

-But despite it all your worthless pride and ego got in the way convincing you that you would fight your ex with your own two hands. 

-All those thoughts were tossed out the window when you heard your ex’s voice outside your apartment’s door on a late Friday night. 

- “Dolly open the door~” 

-In less than a second you had pushed the kitchen table in front of the door, your fingers hastily dialing Katsuki’s number, tears already streaming down your cheeks as your ex pounded at the front door, his voice and pleas becoming more and more aggressive as the seconds ticked by. 

-Two agonizing minutes passed before Bakugou answered, his gruff voice reaching your ears from the other line as he answered with a short “What”

- “Katsu please h-he is trying to get in. H-he is at the d-door. I-I don’t know what to do.” 

- “Baby lock yourself in our room and try to barricade the door. After that hide I’ll be there before you know it.”

-You could hear a door slamming shut and his hasty steps coming through the other line. 

-Doing as you were told you locked your bedroom door, pushing your dresser in front of it as more bangs came from the front door the legs of the kitchen table scraping the floor as the door almost rattled off its hinges. 

-Ducking underneath your bed you let out a few whines to which Katsuki answered with reassuring words. 

- “I’m almost there baby, I’ll save you. Fuck, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry baby. I should be home with you right now keeping you safe from that lunatic. I’m sorry I love you so much.” 

- “Katsu please hurry please. I-I’m so scared. Please.” 

- “I can see our building don’t worry-” 

-A loud thud came from the kitchen and only a few seconds later something rammed into the bedroom door ripping another whimper from your throat. 

- “Oh my god Katsu he’s in our house!!” 

- “Y/N, dolly, why are you making this so difficult my love? I just want” *thud* “to love you” *thud* “the way you” *thud* “DESERVE!”

-In one finally push your dresser was finally knocked over as the door creaked slightly open, your ex squeezing through the crack a laugh and a breathy moan of your name escaping his lips as he stepped inside.  

- “Katsuki I lo-” 

-The only thing that Katsuki could hear was your scream as he barreled up the stairs to your apartment.

-Katsuki tackled your assailant, straddling his waist as he let punch after punch connect with the bastard's face as you cowered to the far corner of the room. 

-After a few minutes of relentless punching your ex was knocked out cold while Katsuki was cradling you to his chest, rubbing circles onto your scalp as you sobbed in his chest. 

-You don’t remember much of what happened later, too exhausted to process anything and too comfortable in Katsuki’s arms as he led you to Kirishima’s house to spend the night. 

-He refused to take you to a hotel, he thought you would feel safer in a familiar environment. 

-Kiri left you two alone as Katsuki prepared a bath and a change of clothes. 

- “Katsu…” 

-His name left your lips as a mere whisper and it broke his heart. 

- “I can’t go back to our house...He had been in there….he had taken pictures I-I” 

- “Shh it’s alright. It was getting kinda small for us anyways. Shh Don’t worry about it.” 

- “I’m sorry Katsu, I’m so sorry.” 

-It would take a lot of hard work to build up your sense of safety and he knew it but he was ready to give it his all for you. 

- “No need to apologize baby. You know I would do anything for you and your safety and I’ll be here next to you now matter what. I love you and I will never stop. You kinda have my wrapped around your finger, woman.” 

-You let out a weak giggle followed by an “I love you” of your own and a little peck on the lips, as you snuggled close to him, his arms bringing you safely to his chest in a way to calm your nerves.

He shook his star wand, you were thankful it looked like a toy

Soon enough fireworks came bursting out closer to where you two stood, still a safe distance away but seeing as you didn't get the best spot in the crowd

It was almost hard to hear your ex over the fireworks

The more they began to yell the more powerful fireworks Solomon set off

Almost completely blocking out you exes screams

It got to the point there had to be a fireworks break due to how hectic it got

"this is dumb, I'm leaving." They huffed as you continued to ignore them

He took you ice skating, unfortunately you were terrible at it whilst he was fine

You were both wrapped up warm as he helped you skate across the rink

Your legs wobbled and you slid to face your almost fell over

"hahah, you're adorable but don't worry, you'll be a master of it by the end of tonight."

You slowly got the hang of it, gripping his arm whilst he just smiled, enjoying being so close to you

"i think I got it-! Wait no no no don't let go!"

Just as your small victory gave you a big smile it immediately dropped when your ex skidded over

"What are you odds of you being here, I see you still can't skate."

"so what? You want to bother me about skating? Why not go back to your girlfriend and leave me alone."

They just laughed

They skated past you, bumping into you and you immediately went flying into the ice

Happy you kept your hands close to your face as another skater zoomed by

Simeon hastily helped you back up, dusting Ice off you

"Let's sit down, maybe they won't be here for long."

He helped you off the ice and you both sat on a bench, he got you a warm drink before sitting down

But it wasn't over, your ex coming to where you were sitting still in the rink

"sorry about that, it was a total accident I swear - tell me (Y/N), what made you come here? I bet you were stalking my page again, wanted to see me?"

"no, I just wanted to have a date with my boyfriend."

"It would be best you left us alone, your presence clearly isn't wanted."

You pounded the side of your first to the table, glaring at them with tears in your eyes

Simeon, rubbed your back, frowning at your ex

Your ex just scoffed, skating off

Your boyfriend suddenly stood up and began to march over to the rink

You tried to ask what he was doing but he didn't respond, quickly skating over to your ex

When he caught up he skidded so far they got covered in ice, grabbed your ex with a smile

And suddenly, you didn't see what happened but your ex screamed, darting off the Ice trying to get away from Simeon

When he finally came back he took a sip of your drink and smiled

"let's head back on the ice, I still have to make you a pro."
