Zeon Mobile Suits are either named The Keshantra and it's literally the coolest thing you've ever seen, or they're named the Goobai and it looks like two other robots who's corpses became indistinguishable in a car crash.

Zeon mobile suits fall into a few categories;

there is the Goobly, which looks like some kind of dieselpunk knight and kicks so much ass.

There is the Graugloo, a meaner looking Goobly to show that things have gotten serious.

There is the Beelzeljuice, a newtype-use machine which is either the dumbest thing ever or the coolest thing ever and they make like like two of em.

There is the Looy and the Hylooy, aquatic mobile suits which took up half of and two thirds of Zeon’s budget respectively.

Then there is the Big Zam. This is not a mobile suit.

Thinking about a gqx video essay i watched recently in which the essayist summarized an interview where the creator described what sets machu apart from other protagonists is her empathy for immigrants and her actions against that injustice as a result in ep 1. I'm paraphrasing but it was something to that effect

I know how dearly this anime, this franchise, has moved us and changed us. We know the general ethos that "war is bad" but it also illustrates the way in which it is. How it destroys lives, how it exploits, how it's a machine that only puts more money in the pockets of those who benefit from it. I'm typing this as someone very saddened by what the state of the world is but cognizant of the fact that I'm not living the horrors of war right now. I'm an immigrant along with my family but I live in America and live a generally safe day to day life. However this is a country that would rather see the same immigrants, descendants of the enslaved, and the very people and countries and cultures its presence destabilizes destroyed than invest wealth and resources back into the least of us.

That is to say, the gunpla, the characters, and all that are cool but if we don't have the brains and the heart to connect to the world around us and empathize with the immigrant, with the poor, with the oppressed, what's the point of any of this ? We have to do better.
