Thank you for applying for a library card!
We are a large metropolitan library with twelve branches here in the city and a consortial agreement with ninety-seven different timelines (and counting). Your card is your ticket to our physical and digital collections, where we have something for everyone.
You’ve indicated that you are licensed for time travel and regularly travel in time or between timelines for work purposes, so you are eligible for our trans-timeline borrower’s card. Please read this document carefully to ensure you’re using your new card to its fullest potential and in compliance with library policy.
Our services:
The library has a floating collection, meaning items remain at the branch where they were returned rather than being sent back to the lending branch. However, we do return inter-timeline loans to their home universe to minimize temporal strain. If you’re browsing the shelves and see a book phasing in and out of existence, alert an employee. It’s probably misshelved.
Our new online system allows you to keep the same login information in all timelines. No more keeping track of dozens of passwords! If you previously created multiple logins tied to one card, visit the circulation desk, and we’ll merge your accounts for you. No, this will not make you responsible for alternate selves’ outstanding fines, and any version of yourself telling you that is lying to you.
You asked, and we listened. Our new online catalog displays reviews from patrons from all relevant timelines on items exceeding a 90% similarity score. We request that patrons keep debates over the superiority of their timeline’s version to venues other than our catalog.
Although our staff members are not medical professionals, they have been trained to recognize signs of temporal instability. If you are experiencing characteristic symptoms (faintness, disorientation, physical and/or mental age changes, etc.), a staff member can administer grounding agents until emergency services arrive.
The library has a robust inter-timeline loan system. If you’re looking for a book or article not published in this timeline, fill out our online form or ask at the circulation desk. The average wait time for an ITL request is five business days. That’s shortened to three if you’re requesting an item stored at the James Patterson Interdimensional Warehouse. (Note: This estimate may change as the warehouse continues to expand under its own power, or if our courier gets lost there.)
Our policies:
We do not accept returns before the publication date (month and year). Cataloging books paradoxically created through stable time loops gets too complicated. You can check a book’s month of publication in a review journal like Booklist, which we make available online and in our non-circulating magazine collection.
We’ve recently gone fine-free in this timeline, meaning we no longer charge fees for overdue books. This policy varies between consortium timelines depending on whether certain people on the board of directors have retired yet.
If a book is damaged beyond repair, lost in a Time Hole, or overwritten out of existence by timeline changes, you will be responsible for the replacement cost or a flat fee of $30, whichever is lower. We do not recommend attempting to rewrite time to avoid losing or damaging the book, as we would prefer to purchase a new copy rather than tear a hole in the fabric of reality.
Patrons may use our computers for two hours. You can extend this time if there are no other patrons waiting. Show respect to other library users and do not abuse time travel to circumvent the policy when there is high demand. We will notice if there are two of you at our computing stations. Yes, even if one of you is wearing a funny hat.
The library values your privacy. We will not disclose account information or the content of reference transactions to anyone, including alternate versions of the account holder. The library also does not keep a record of the materials you check out. However, some of our databases do track user data. If you need to conceal your presence in this timeline to avoid paradoxes, the Time Cops, or your ex, we keep a collection of electronic resource licenses at the reference desk so you can judge which products to avoid.
Holder vs. Holder found that copyright protections extend across timelines and prior to publication, and copyright is exclusive to the iteration who created the work. Patrons attempting to copy library materials and publish them under their own name will have their cards revoked, even if they created the material in another timeline. This policy was adopted after consultation with our legal team. Trans-timeline copyright enforcement is very aggressive.
The library respects the personhood and autonomy of patrons no matter their timeline of origin. However, this respect is not always universal. If you need to know what the laws are for time travelers/alternate selves/dimension-hoppers/“timeclones”/etc. in this dimension (or the terminology used to refer to them), stop by the reference desk.
Violence is against library policy. If you are about to battle your alternate self from another timeline because you ran into each other in the cookbook section, take it to the parking lot.
In conclusion:
Libraries are committed to free access to information, and with the resources of dozens of timelines available to us, our mission has only gotten bigger. In fact, we’re hiring! If you’re looking for somewhere new to apply your time travel certification, we’re looking for team members in our inter-timeline loan department. Entry-level courier positions do not require an MLIS. Familiarity with James Patterson is a plus.
We can’t wait to see you in our library. (Maybe we already have.)

Captain John Price Has a Pretty, Young Thing. Part IV.
WARNING: On-page murder, mentions of death, mentions of sexual activity, and general gang activity. Readers be advised.
Captain John Price was a man of control. So it is befuddling that his resolve crumbles a little more each day he has to see his pretty, young thing.
To give her credit, she has an excellent poker face. You would never know what happened between the two of them based on the straightforward, professional way in which she conducts herself in front of his team. It's a little infuriating to him how HR-appropriate she is, considering he can't stop thinking about the look on her face as she...
Fuck. He's fucked.
Especially because it's so easy to like her. Throughout mandatory check-ins and regular updates on each other's progress in tracking the stolen military weapons, she works to build trust. It's almost like they are friends. He tells her about growing up in Herefordshire. She tells him about her dysfunctional family. It's hard not to like her, disregarding the great sex. And he tries not to like her. Each prolonged silence that stretches between them is paired with a sideways look when no one else is around that can't quite be described as professional. It's not always kind either. They were two animals (different species, he occasionally thought) trying to either wait each other out or rip each other apart. He wasn't sure which was more appealing.
Waiting each other out takes precedence for the longest time.
Then comes the anger. One of the lackeys she has playing courier on her behalf lets it slip that she informed one of the other gangs in the area that the 141 is looking for stolen weapons. It's a betrayal of trust. It's their lives that she's playing with. All of the betrayal and worry make a heady mix when paired with the gut-wrenching need that had been brewing for weeks. At first, he thinks he might have to kill her to keep his team alive.
Her lackey is quick to assure him that she 'has a plan.' After all, someone had already come sniffing around for information; she's talking to him now.
There's more anger bubbling in Price's belly. He hates secrets, lies, and mind games. But she's not here. The lackey is. It only takes one look and a few harsh words for them to spit out an address.
Getting their gear strapped on is a blur. Even getting into the car is a blur. His white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel as he peels out of the safe house driveway makes the thin aluminum covered in leather creak in his hands. He's pretty sure he almost ran a red light to get there.
It's a shitty warehouse in the port district. Not near the docks. That would get too much attention. But it's close enough to dump a body, if needed.
The grime makes it forgettable. God knows that people don't look at unpleasant things. A dingy warehouse wouldn't get attention from anyone except those really fascinated by abandoned properties. But the place gives off a supernatural aura that would likely make even the boldest steer away.
Inside isn't any more comfortable. It's a haphazard maze of shipping containers and cardboard boxes. One might actually think its used for its intended purpose. Especially because there's no screaming or begging. Just the muffle of a quiet conversation.
Which is... exactly what they find.
The tailored pants and usual blouses are gone, replaced by a satiny cobalt blue dress with a cowl neckline that shows off her cleavage and the dangly silver star charm hanging around her neck. He's never seen her wear makeup in the two weeks of working together. But she has a pretty color-shifting blue eyeshadow that looks purple in the right light. Between the outfit and the stilettos, the look almost screams 'night out at the college bar.'
Maybe it's an act. The guy sitting across the table from her --- as if they are having a conversation, not an interrogation --- looks even younger than her. Nervous. Fidgety. But he's not a prisoner. There are no restraints. He has an untouched glass of water in front of him and a plate of cookies, with only one missing. It's in her hand, one bite taken out of it.
Price opens his mouth to bark something at her, and she pins him with a single look. Smoldering. Dark. Vicious. Maybe there was a hint of surprise at being interrupted. It's nothing like her usual candidness. But it's just as disarming.
"Ignore them. My offer still stands," she promises the young man, tone soft and reassuring, "Tell me what your boss knows and wants to know about the stolen military weapons and you can walk out of this warehouse within the hour."
Price is almost at his breaking point. First, she lets it slip that their on the trail of the thieves to every gang in the area. Now she's offering to let this guy walk free with that information? He can't decide if she has some clever plan or if she's playing with the lives of his men.
This was what she had warned him about. This was what he should have been preparing for. But there was no way to go back to treating her like the enemy after having her writhing beneath him.
So he clenches his jaw and watches, waiting to see how this plays out.
The young man doesn't stand a chance. From the way he spills everything, he would cut his own chest open and serve her his heart if it meant living. There's a wriggling dose of hope in every stuttered word.
"I - I -" the words are thick in his mouth, torn between being fascinated and threatened by the woman in front of him. "Military weapons are bad for holding onto territory. My boss wants to make sure there's no threat to our territory -"
It's almost disheartening to see how he crumbles under her scrutiny.
She just listens patiently, one leg crossed over the other. Only the slightest twitch to her foot shows when she's caught off guard by some new tidbit he feeds her.
But she's true to her word. Once she's satisfied he's told her the truth, she offers to guide him out of that maze.
Price and the 141 follow them out, too, barely repressed anger simmering. Each of them has prepared a new monologue of rage. Several choice words come to Price's mind as he concocts his.
The stars had already been in the sky when they had gone into the warehouse. But they light up the sky now. The streetlights lining the area have gone out. After the bright light in the warehouse, it takes several seconds for their eyes to adjust to the darkness.
The young man doesn't even notice the odd darkness. He's too busy staring up at the sky, his breathing unsteady as if he couldn't believe he was experiencing the privilege of freedom. He stops. Not even her comforting hand on his back can guide him forward more than a few steps.
Price hadn't even realized she had a weapon on her. Not until she had drawn it from the thigh holster barely covered by the length of her dress. A knife, just like she had said she preferred.
There was no time to act. Her fingers were fisted in the young man's hair, jerking his head back as she plunged the blade into his throat. She's horribly precise. The sound he makes is bubbly and short; he's dead before he even slumps backward against her. No time to feel fear or doubt or really anything at all.
Remorse. Pity. Resignation. Whatever act she was playing is done because the look in her eyes is back to being too honest.
"You promised -" Soap growls.
"I promised he could walk out of the building. Not that he would live."
For someone who had been uncomfortably honest up until that point, the distinction in wording that borders on a lie is horrific.
"I wanted to see who reacted to the knowledge of your presence," she continues, lowering the body to the cracking pavement, "And, contrary to what he believed, his boss is involved with your stolen weapons."
There's a certain kind of relief in knowing she'd had a plan the entire time. Even if it pairs with horror at the blood dripping down her collarbone and the body at her feet.
"That was a dangerous game to play," Price gets out between clenched teeth.
"I hedged my bets," she agrees, "And I made sure to tie up my loose ends from said bet. Sometimes you have to do the hard things to pave the way for progress. We know more now than we did. We have a path forward."
Some of his anger diffuses at the threads of exhaustion and regret in her words. Especially because she's right. It was an effective strategy. Even if he hated his team being used as bait.
"We need to talk," he rumbles out, "Alone. My team will go back to the safehouse."
The rest of the 141 look at him like he's insane. He barks the orders again, tossing Ghost the keys. He trusts Ghost to listen.
Ghost does. He loads them up. He eyes Price, as if to make sure that he still had all his weapons and his sanity before he's peeling away from the curb. Then it's just the two of them, the silence deafening.
Guilt starts to creep in with the resignation. She hates the idea of him staying. She hates the very notion of vulnerability that comes with the spiraling self-loathing after incidents like these. She hates the idea of having to explain the worst of herself. Moreover, she's tired.
"You can't fix me."
It was the same thing she had said the night he had walked her home from the restaurant. But it means something entirely different now that he'd seen what she was like at her worst.
"I suppose not," he agreed.
"I try to be kind when I have to do that."
"That was kind?"
"He believed he was free. It was quick enough that he didn't even know it was coming. Isn't that a sort of kindness?"
He knows he will never admit it to her, but he wonders if it might be. He's seen too many soldiers die slow, agonizing deaths, screaming for their parents or partners until the bitter end. Was ignorance bliss? Was peace?
She doesn't wait for an answer. Her phone is in her hand, the screen dim in the night as she taps out a message. When she looks up again, her voice is soft.
"It's okay if you decide to lose my number."
It's her turn to offer him an out, he supposes. But he's decided that he would have done the same in her shoes; he has done worse, even.
"That won't be necessary. I can be a damn good distraction," there's an offer in the subtext. She isn't interested in parsing out unspoken meaning, back to the unnerving bluntness.
"Is that what you want, John? A distraction?"
Maybe, to a lesser extent, there's a third question hidden among the others: will that be enough?
The hint of a smile tugs at the corner of his lips. It's almost bitter.
"You're more likely to let me in if I'm a distraction, right?"
"Yes," she admits, "But are you going to be content with being a distraction?"
He gives her another bittersweet smile. He wasn't content with being a distraction. Because she had been right. He wanted to fix her. He wanted her to allow him to attempt to fix her. He wanted more from her than just a bed partner for the duration of this mission. But he couldn't demand anything from her. Not yet. It would only lead to resistance. You needed time.
"I'm good at pretending."
That isn't a good enough answer for him because she frowns, "And when you get tired of pretending?"
"Then that's my problem. You don't need to worry about it."
It's a deflection. They both know it. She lets it slide, in favor of looking down at herself. Blood flecks the blue satin of her dress. It flakes off her hands where it's dried.
Her voice goes very quiet, "Okay."
Price nods. There's not much else to say on the subject. They are both adults, after all. They can make their own decisions (and deal with the consequences accordingly).
"We should get this cleaned up," he rumbles.
"I have people on their way."
"Then we should go," he counters, "The longer we're here, the more chance we're caught. You should get cleaned up."
She's nodding in agreement as she pulls a set of keys from between --- oh for fucks sake --- her breasts. They are, mercifully, clean of blood. But she doesn't hand them over when he holds out an expectant hand. She just clicks the 'unlock' button, and a little blue four-door car lights up.
Captain John Price scowls as she gets into the driver's seat, leaving the passenger side unlocked for him. But he goes willingly. Only for his pretty, young thing.

Sir Kenneth Grange
A giant of 20th-century design whose products – from food mixers to lamps and trains – became staples of British life
Kenneth Grange, who has died aged 95, was the leading British product designer of the second half of the 20th century. Even if unaware of his name, most people in Britain are familiar with his output: the Kenwood Chef food mixer, the Kodak Instamatic camera, the Ronson Rio hairdryer, the Morphy Richards iron. These everyday objects are part of all our histories. Grange was also responsible for the restyling of the InterCity 125 high-speed train and the 1997 TX1 version of the London taxi.
He was a tall, handsome, ebullient man, a joker with that element of inner moral purpose often found in the designers of his postwar generation. He grew up imbued with a determination to make the world a better place visually, his emphasis always on functional efficiency. Grange was a master at reassessing usage, but he also viewed design in terms of sheer enjoyment. He wanted us to share in the surprising grace of the experience as the 125 train comes hurtling down the track.
When he set up his own design consultancy in 1956, Grange was one of just a handful of designers operating in the world of what were then quaintly called consumer goods. Many of his early commissions came via the Council of Industrial Design (now the Design Council), a governmental body set up with the remit of improving national design standards. Grange’s commission to design Britain’s first parking meter, the Venner, introduced in 1958, came via the council. So too did his introduction to Kenneth Wood, proprietor of the firm in Woking whose domestic products were marketed as Kenwood. Grange’s clean-lined and user-friendly Kenwood Chef food mixer became a housewives’ status symbol of its time.
Like his near contemporary Vidal Sassoon, Grange came from a non-artistic background and had a similarly innate sense of visual style. Both men were quintessentially 1960s talents, Sassoon with his geometric haircuts, Grange with a succession of urbane modern products for a new, self-consciously fashionable age. He became a prime designer for the growing market in “portable accessories”: pens for Parker, cigarette lighters for Ronson, the melamine and smoked perspex Milward Courier shaver which, in 1963, won the Duke of Edinburgh’s prize for elegant design (now known as the Prince Philip Designers prize). Did Prince Philip himself use it? Grange insisted that he did.
In 1972 Grange joined four of the rising stars of his profession – Alan Fletcher, Colin Forbes, Theo Crosby and Mervyn Kurlansky – in founding the ultra-modern design group Pentagram. This was a multidisciplinary consultancy described by Grange as “a one-stop shop” providing specialist services in graphic design and advertising, architecture and – Grange’s own area – product design.
Pentagram became the bee’s knees of design consultancies: ambitious, professional, intelligent and jaunty. It attracted loyal clients, including Reuters, for whom Grange designed the Reuters monitor, a state-of-the-art computer terminal and keyboard, superbly well engineered in heavy silver aluminium sheet.
Through the 70s Grange was occupied with the most high profile of his design commissions: the aerodynamics, interior layout and exterior shaping of the nose cone of British Rail’s High Speed Train (HST). The InterCity 125 was a key element in BR’s strategy to woo passengers away from cars and planes and back on to the trains. However the first HST prototype they came up with was, in Grange’s opinion, “a lumpish, brutish thing”.
He realised he could only improve the appearance by first tackling the aerodynamics. On his own initiative (and at his own expense) he spent a week at night working with a consultant engineer at Imperial College London, where there was a wind tunnel. In the course of these experiments they developed a number of new ideas, getting rid of the buffers, hiding the couplings in the underside of the nose cone, and giving the train a more futuristic look.
It was launched in 1976 with its radical, dynamically angled nose design. Grange was always careful to give credit to the expertise of the engineers he worked with. All the same, it was his major triumph and a lasting symbol of the best of mid-20th-century British design. The HST – still in use today on selected passenger services after almost 50 years – transformed the public experience of travelling by train.
He was born in east London, the son of Hilda (nee Long), a machinist, and Harry Grange, an East End policeman. Kenneth was brought up in what he once vividly described as “a bacon-and-eggs kind of house”, respectably furnished with a three-piece suite and flowery curtains, the dominant colour being brown. Nevertheless his parents supported his chosen career in what was then termed “commercial art”. During the second world war, the family had moved to Wembley in north London, and Kenneth won a scholarship to Willesden School of Art and Crafts where, from the age of 14, he studied drawing and lettering.
These basic skills gave him the entree to a succession of architects’ offices: Arcon; Bronek Katz and R Vaughan; Gordon and Ursula Bowyer; and, from 1952, the remarkably versatile architect and industrial designer Jack Howe – all of these were modernists and prime movers in the postwar campaign to rebuild Britain using newly available materials and techniques.
Grange took part in the 1951 Festival of Britain, working alongside Gordon and Ursula Bowyer on the Sports Pavilion for the South Bank exhibition. For so many of Grange’s generation of designers – including Sir Terence Conran and my husband, David Mellor – the festival would be a lasting inspiration. As Grange later recollected: “You couldn’t walk a step without seeing something unlikely – the cigar-shaped Skylon, the huge Dome of Discovery, extraordinary metal sculptures, waterfalls that twisted and turned. Nothing was like anything I had ever seen before.”
Where much of British design was still craft-based, dominated by ideas that went back to William Morris, Grange felt the fascination of machine production. He was excited by the sleek designs based on new technology beginning to infiltrate Britain from the US, describing the moulded plastic Eames chair for example as “a rocket ship exploding into our narrow world”. I remember being impressed on my first visit to his house in Hampstead, north London, to find him the possessor of not just one Eames lounge chair but three.
Grange’s natural resilience stood him in good stead through the 70s and 80s, those lean years for designers when British manufacturing lost its way and, as he described it, “unbridled accountancy became the new dynamic in British industry”. He was glad of foreign clients, especially enjoying working in Japan where the innate Japanese awareness of design delighted him. An especially successful commission was a sewing machine designed for the Maruzen Sewing Machine Co in Osaka, to be marketed in Europe. On trips to Japan he started what became a considerable collection of beautiful wooden geisha combs.
Pentagram itself was flourishing, moving in 1984 from Paddington to larger and more stylish premises in a renovated dairy in Notting Hill. At this period it employed more than 80 designers and assistants in different disciplines, and the communal dining room became an ever-welcoming talking shop, a gathering point for London’s design world of the time. I remember some marvellous parties at Pentagram, including the celebration of Grange’s marriage in 1984 to Apryl Swift.
For Grange himself the 1980s brought increasing public recognition. In 1983 a solo exhibition of his work was held at the Boilerhouse at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
At this point he was already being lauded as Britain’s most successful product designer. He was made CBE in 1984, and knighted in 2013. In 1985 he received an honorary doctorate from the Royal College of Art and in 1986 became master of the elite group of Royal Designers for Industry. Success never spoilt him. He had a streak of self-denigrating humour and retained a kind of boyish innocence, as if he could hardly believe his good luck.
The sheer challenge of the job had always been his driving force. After his retirement from Pentagram in 1997, after 25 years as a partner, he and Apryl embarked on a project of their own, converting an ancient stone-built barn in the remote countryside near Coryton in Devon into a spectacular modern home with a spiral staircase of highly ingenious modular construction. Completion took five years; Grange commuted weekly between London and Devon, travelling on his familiar High Speed Train.
In 2011 the Design Museum held a retrospective, Kenneth Grange: Making Britain Modern. He continued to design into his 80s. Late commissions included the perfect men’s shirt for the fashion designer Margaret Howell; an updated range of classic lights – the Type 3, Type 75 and, in his 90th year, the Type 80 – for Anglepoise, for whom he had been made design director in 2003; and a really comfortable collection of chairs for elderly people. General levels of design for the aged population made him angry. “Where is the decent modernist care home?” he would ask.
Typical of Grange’s zany 60s humour was his design of a man-shaped timber bookcase that converted to a coffin, the ultimate exercise in recycling. “If I ever pop my clogs, it’s books out and me in, with the lid fixed, up to the great client in the sky.”
Two earlier marriages ended in divorce. Apryl survives him.

"Have you ever... "lost"' or "misplaced" a letter or missive in your work as a courier- for any reason?""
"Absolutely," Safrona admitted easily. "It's almost expected in the work when you deliver. A very unfortunate rite of passage for every herald, postmaster, courier, or runner. And it can be a mess to navigate steps to take afterward, but much easier to either put in an acceptable tracking system or handle damages and fallout with a client when you're part of a team. Which is why I now try to bring in freelance couriers and runners under my wing. Much better business to take on when you have support."
The professional paused as she let herself recall a particular run gone wrong. "It's all more of a risk when you are contracted as a runner on the field carrying correspondence that someone doesn't want you delivering. One of my most unfavorable circumstances was on the time-shifted Draenor some years ago, when I was shuttling resources and correspondence between garrisons. I was interrupted on my route, and my shipment was taken. And the shipment was never recovered."
Her fingertips idly shifted upward to adjust the high collar of robes and choker, which hid the lacerated scars that she wore. "It was uglier business then, but my client had been forgiving enough."

BENREY HI . 😍😳🎁🎶 for your courier and yes man !!! hoping your time to decompress has been working out for you and that this week treats you well :)
Self Ship Ask Game
ANON HI!!! my week has been... well it's been a week. ty for the kind words though! im hoping it will get better :)
😍 - When or how did you realize you fell in love with your f/o? How or when did your f/o realize they fell in love with you?
It was when Yes Man had invited Courier to the top of the ridge overlooking New Vegas, shining like a desert jewel in the middle of the Mojave Wasteland. While he talked excitedly about how the strip was now powered independently from the dam, Courier felt... a lot more confident about their future, like they actually had a future to look forward to. They honestly didn't know what to do with themself after they killed Benny, and after they met Yes man and came up with a plan to take over Vegas, they still felt unsure. They were literally just a mailman a few months ago, and now it felt like some crazy pipe dream they never knew they had was coming true. They shared their excitement with Yes Man, enraptured by the lights, feeling the warmth radiate off of Yes Man's metal body... Yeah, they could get used to this, having a future with Yes Man....
And thats when they finally realized what they had gotten themself into.
And that's also when Yes Man suddenly became very distracted by the Courier's eyes! Wow, he knows they came here to look at the lights of New Vegas, but their eyes were even brighter and shinier, he could even see his screen reflected in them. But it'd be weird to tell them that, wouldn't it? It would be redundant, they probably already know how pretty their eyes look, they look in they mirror every morning! And he wouldn't want to put a damper on their excitement by being weird. Yeah, it'd just be weird....
They should probably head back to the Lucky 38. There's a lot more they have to do before the battle at the dam.
It wouldn't be until after his assertiveness update, when he finally reunited with Courier, that he finally realized what he was feeling all those times when the Courier made a dumb joke or acted like a dork, when they gave him a reassuring pat on his chassis or held his hand, when they smiled up at him and said his name...
He'd fallen for them, every single time.
😳 - How does your f/o fluster you? How do you fluster your f/o?
Yes Man flusters the Courier just by complimenting them! They can’t take a compliment to save their life lol. He first noticed this when they had gotten back from the Ultra Luxe, clad in a fancy white dress they used as a disguise to go undercover. Naturally he complimented them, I mean, who wouldn’t? It was very clever of them to disguise themself to take care of the White Glove Society from the inside, and it helped that they looked absolutely gorgeous in that dress! But the Courier just… stopped in their tracks, and then stumbled out a thank you. Any praise he gave them was met with a bashful response. He thought it was… very endearing! He kept it professional though, only relating to their handiwork around the Strip and the Mojave. He… didn’t want to say too much. After his assertiveness update though, he realized just how obvious it was that he liked them, and also noticed how clueless Courier was to that fact. So, after they finally confessed to one another, the compliments (and the teasing!) came out in full force. They were adorable when they smiled, when they were confused, when they were irritated, and he made sure to let them know.
Courier flusters Yes Man by just… being so earnest. They really do value him as a partner, and it would just make sense to let him know how much they appreciate them. He also gets really flustered when Courier touches him, like when they hold his hand or lightly touch his screen or make small repairs, because they’re always so gentle and reassuring.
Though, before his update he didn’t really come off as flustered? Whenever they praised or complimented him or smiled at him, he would just… pause for a good few seconds before responding, like he had to take a while to think of what he wanted to say next. Of course, Courier didn’t know that they could even fluster Yes Man because of his programming, and they didn’t think they were capable of catching anybody’s attention like that. They were completely clueless up until Yes Man explicitly said that he liked them when they reunited after the battle at the dam. After his update, it was a lot more apparent that he was flustered, because he would pause and then fumble over his words, and he could actually change his expression to something that looked something like embarrassment, and Courier had noticed that his screen would flicker and internal mechanisms would heat up more (something that had happened before, but Courier thought it was just minor malfunctions. Upon realizing just how obvious it was that Yes Man had indeed liked them back for all that time, they just laughed and succumbed to his teasing, happy that he still loved them even if they were an idiot).
😚 - What was your first kiss like?
I already answered the gift giving question here, so I thought I'd answer this question instead, I hope thats ok >//<
But ummm... I think it would be when they confessed to each other, after they each reassured the other that yes, they did like them back ("..." "......" "....You like me?" "I... yes? I mean- Yes! I'm sorry, I didn't mean for that to come out as a question, it's just that your lack of response had me thinking that maybe this wasn't such a good idea-" *Courier grabs his hand* "I like to too!" "You... like me too?" "Yes!!")
They would both just be so giddy in the moment, Courier would just ask "Can I kiss you?" and Yes Man would respond enthusiastically "Please!", and then Courier would plant a kiss right on his screen, and he'd hug them closer, his body getting warmer and his internal fans getting louder. Courier would chuckle when they pull away and see Yes Man's lovestruck look on his face, along with the smudge they had made on his screen.
🎶 - What song/lyrics remind you of your f/o?
youtube
This song makes me think of Yes Man so much T_T When I first heard it in the game I was like oh.... where has he been all my life?
But um I like to imagine a scene where it's late at night and Courier is sitting at the VIP lounge in the Lucky 38 and they have the radio on and Yes Man joins them and then Courier asks him to dance with them. They go to the middle of the casino and just sway to the music, and Courier is a little tipsy so they just lean against Yes Man, and he's looking at them and just taking in how amazing they look right now, and he hugs them close, and just like..... the lyrics of the song, its the lyrics of the song!!! it's like a dream to him and he hopes he never wakes up, and he's so happy that Courier is in his life now, and it feels like it's just beginning, and he wants to spend it all with them!!!!!!
youtube
I also have to put I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire here, because like!!! I just love this song, and the first time I heard it was actually in the official Fallout Minecraft map that I played when I was younger and had no idea what Fallout was, and it became on of my favorite songs, and then yknow I'm into Fallout now, so it came full circle! ^_^ Anyway, i think this song is like from the Courier's perspective, they just love Yes Man and want to be with him and yeah <3
#also funny not funny thing that map came out after new vegas came out but there is literally nothing new vegas related in it at all#just stuff from fallout 1 2 3 and 4#and that makes me so mad thinking more about bc a new vegas minecraft map would be so fucking cool!!!#self shipping#self ship#self shipping community#romantic f/o#oc x canon

Country-Wise List of Mandatory Business Visa Fees and VFS Charges
Transparent cost structure for business visa applications to major countries

For Indian professionals and entrepreneurs applying for a business visa, one of the most overlooked—but essential—elements is the cost structure. Business visa fees and third-party processing charges such as VFS Global service fees vary depending on the destination country, visa duration, and additional services requested. Understanding these charges in advance ensures better financial planning and avoids last-minute surprises during application.
This blog provides a transparent, country-wise breakdown of mandatory government visa fees and commonly applicable VFS or service provider charges for popular business travel destinations.
Understanding Visa Fees vs. Service Charges
Before diving into numbers, it's important to distinguish between two cost components:
Visa Fee (Government Fee): This is the official fee charged by the embassy or consulate to process your visa application.
VFS/Processing Fee: This is charged by outsourced visa service providers like VFS Global, BLS, or TLScontact, for managing appointment booking, document collection, and biometric processing.
Note: Fees are approximate and subject to periodic change. Always check the respective embassy or VFS portal before making payment.
Country-Wise Business Visa Fee Summary
United States (B1 Visa)
Visa Fee: USD 185 (approx. INR 15,300)
VFS/Service Fee: Not applicable. Applicants book appointments via USTravelDocs or CGI portal.
United Kingdom (Standard Visitor – Business)
Visa Fee (6-month validity): GBP 115 (approx. INR 12,000)
VFS Service Fee: INR 1,200 – 1,800 depending on the location
Optional services (SMS updates, courier, lounge access) cost extra.
Canada (Business Visitor)
Visa Fee: CAD 100 (approx. INR 6,200)
Biometrics Fee: CAD 85 (approx. INR 5,300)
VFS Service Fee: INR 1,440 – 2,000 (depending on centre and add-ons)
Schengen Countries (Business Visa – Type C)
Visa Fee: EUR 80 (approx. INR 7,200)
VFS/BLS Fee: INR 1,400 – 1,700
Optional services like prime-time appointments, insurance purchase, and courier return are available at additional costs.
Australia (Business Visitor – Subclass 600)
Visa Fee: AUD 190 (approx. INR 10,500)
VFS Service Fee: INR 1,100 – 1,400
Online applications go through the ImmiAccount portal, but biometrics are collected at VFS.
Singapore
Visa Fee: SGD 30 (approx. INR 1,800)
Service Agent Fee: Varies between INR 2,000 – 3,000 depending on travel agent
Direct applications through authorized agents; no walk-ins at embassy.
Tips for Managing Visa Application Costs
Check for hidden charges: Some centres charge for SMS alerts, photocopies, or courier services.
Choose only necessary add-ons: Premium lounges or express processing may not be required unless under time pressure.
Track currency fluctuations: Visa fees in foreign currencies may rise due to INR exchange rate changes.
Save receipts: These may be needed for reimbursement or tax purposes if your trip is business-sponsored.
Conclusion
Understanding visa fees and service charges is a critical part of your business travel planning. Whether you’re attending a summit in London or a pitch event in Toronto, being aware of the exact costs helps you budget better and make informed decisions about optional services. A prepared applicant is not only efficient—but also financially wise.

Attestation And Apostille - Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Attestation and Apostille?

Attestation: Attestation is the process of authenticating documents for use in a foreign country that does not follow the Hague Apostille Convention. It involves multiple levels of verification, including state authorities, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and sometimes the destination country's embassy.
Apostille: An Apostille is a simplified form of document authentication for countries that are part of the Hague Convention. An Apostille sticker from the MEA is enough for these countries.
Example:
- Attestation: Required for UAE, Saudi Arabia, or Kuwait.
- Apostille: Needed for countries like the USA, UK, or Germany.
Why is Attestation or Apostille required?
These processes validate the authenticity of your documents, ensuring they are legally recognized in another country. Common purposes include:
- Applying for work visas or permanent residency.
- Higher education in foreign universities.
- Starting a business abroad.
- Personal purposes like marriage or adoption.
Also Read - Can a copy of the original document be apostilled?
Which documents need Attestation or Apostille?
Common documents include:
- Educational Documents: Degrees, diplomas, mark sheets.
- Personal Documents: Birth certificates, marriage certificates, affidavits.
- Commercial Documents: Power of Attorney, invoices, business agreements.
How long does it take to complete the process?
- Attestation: Generally 8-12 working days but can vary depending on the country and document type.
- Apostille: 2-5 working days for most documents.
Tip: Start early to avoid delays, especially for visa applications or deadlines.
Also Read - Personal Document Attestation
What is the cost of Attestation and Apostille?
Costs vary based on:
- Type of document (educational, personal, or commercial).
- Country of destination.
- Additional services like courier or translation.
Example: Attestation for a degree certificate for the UAE may cost ₹2,500 to ₹5,000.
Can I do it myself, or should I use a professional service?
While you can attempt it yourself, professional services simplify the process:
- Avoid long queues and government office visits.
- Get expert guidance to prevent errors.
- Save time with doorstep document collection and delivery.
Is translation required for Attestation or Apostille?
Yes, if your documents are in a language not recognized by the destination country. For instance, a Marathi birth certificate may require translation into English or the destination country’s official language.
How do I track the status of my documents?
Professional attestation services like PEC Attestation and Apostille Services provide tracking features. You can get regular updates via email, SMS, or a dedicated portal.
