Progress Update [28/JAN]

Hey all! Hope the new year has been treating you well so far 💖

If you're pledged to the Patreon, this progress update won't have anything new for you! The first progress update for January that you got weeks ago already went over all this. For everyone else, here's a little update of how CH13 is shaping up so far! I'm hoping to do these on a monthly basis as we go forward.

Most of January has gone pretty well writing wise, aside from that one week where I got horribly sick lol. If you've read previous progress updates/seen previous previews for CH12, you might remember that in the original draft, CH12 included a court scene with the Crown taking public petitions and dealing with more politics. I decided it would be too much to include in CH12, however, since the chapter is already quite expansive at 76k words.

Putting it at the start of CH13 gives it much more room to breathe and will allow me to delve in deep with all the different variations and make it a bigger scene. And that's kind of necessary considering all the different decisions the player has made that will feature into it:

How you decided to handle Steward Bazo's absence from your coronation back in CH7 (condemning him, forgiving him, or waiting before making a decision)

Whether you fired the Office of Law/Minister Besna, and if you did, whether you chose Noble Nûdem to be her replacement

Whether you have Lady Naza as your Minister of Defense

Whether you have an alliance with the Office of Imperial Decrees/Minister Awir

Additional variations for those romancing R and A, like how X and D's routes got extra court scenes back in CH11

Yeah, it's... a lot 💀

On top of that, as I mentioned before, the Crown will be able to make some decisions on petitions from the public. This will be the scene where you'll be able to gain the most increase to your relationship with the public (or the nobility, if you choose to go that route)! So if you fumbled it before with the Office of Law, this scene will allow you to recover from that (or not).

That aside, the route regarding the peri trader will also be resolved in this chapter. If you have played both the peri trader route and the Kham meeting route, you may have noticed that the route where the Crown goes to meet the peri trader doesn't have all the exposition that the Kham route does--this will be saved for CH13, with some revelations that you won't get in the Kham route. It's a trade-off in that way!

And, of course, more romantic developments with your chosen love interest, but to a lesser extent compared to CH12. In CH13 is where we're wrapping everything up in Marabad, and setting off to the expedition to the mountains 🙏🏼

So far I've started writing the public petitions, and some variations of the court scene for R and A's routes, so I'm hovering around ~10k words at the moment. It's not as much as I hoped to write for January, but a lot of the process also involved planning the chapter, so hopefully February will be much more productive now that I have the structure of the chapter figured out.

— Progress Report #3 (& sneak peek!)

So… how’s the progress going?

WELL UHM

I ended up changing a lot of stuff during my break. Instead of starting with the prologue, as planned, I’ve decided to jump straight into Chapter One. The prologue was starting to spiral into something way too massive (to the point I couldn't call it a prologue anymore) — honestly, it was becoming longer than any of the chapters I’ve planned. And constantly writing variations of the same scene(s) was getting exhausting.

A friend also gave me some solid advice: don’t reveal the Big Thing too early. Don’t worry though—you’re not missing out on any crucial! Everything that I had written for the prologue will still be revealed— just gradually. That will keep me from feelings worn out. (Everything will be out in the open by chapter 7—there’s a lot more drama I need to get to, and I can't let the past hog the spotlight for too long, especially when it’s going to mess character dynamics 💀)

But here's the good news! You’ll get to meet all the ROs in Chapter One—except for Shay.

Also considering of making these little progress reports a weekly thing! This week’s been especially productive—I’m pretty proud of myself. I wrote 10k words for one scene (and it’s still only 1/3rd done… send help).

Triaina: Academy Update (9/15/2024)

Hello everyone! I'm pleased to announce the release of the beginning of chapter 6!

New revelations, new scenes, and a brand-new character joins the main cast! Alongside these, a couple special scenes per RO route and MC background were added.

This chapter will be mostly a debriefing and small break from the previous hectic festival chapter. I'll mostly be focusing on the MC for the majority of it, giving more focus to the MC specialization that has been running in the background for a bit and bringing it to a forefront with the primary decision on what the MC will become for the remainder of the story.

My next endeavor for the next update will be these specialization scenes, as well as an RO scene where the second key decision will be made that will determine their path.

After reconfiguring my life this week purely to focus on the Gender Census report, I'm happy to say I've done most of the spreadsheetery and about half of the report itself. I'm going to keep going over the weekend, as well.

I am very relieved! I don't like leaving a big gap between the end of the survey and the report coming out. I like to work on it while it's all fresh in my mind.

March Progress Report:

Progress is being made on the The Eternal Library. Slow progress, but it's progress nonetheless.

I've been chipping away at the start of Chapter Five: The Rescue, and have finished up the first major segment (~9,000 words). Today I'm planning to start the first section of Chapter Five: The Treasury, which hopefully will be faster going as I have some material from my old manuscript to help with that part of the story. The Rescue is all new material, so it's slower writing, but coming along well.

I need to write both chapters a little bit at a time, I think, so everything makes sense continuity-wise when you play the two paths. There will be opportunities for diplomacy and romance, plus adventure in one path and delving into the secrets of the castle in the other.

My plan is to release an early access demo update for Patreon members in the first week of April with the pair of chapter fives as far as I've been able to get them, so you can play both paths at least a little ways through. Public demo update will be end of April or beginning of May.

I'm really enjoying the first bit of the rescue chapter, as you have a chance to chat with Dorian and get to know him better. There's also more action and some banter between Temphesta and Leonz, who are two of my favorite NPCs. Their love story is one more legend in the tapestry of lore this story embodies.

I've needed to take more time off this month, partially because I simply needed a break and also because life keeps throwing curve balls at me and I'm getting over yet another cold. I've been spending a lot of quality time with my family, too, which is my priority. Writing happens in the afternoons and evenings when I can carve out some time. As long as I'm adding a few hundred words each day I'm happy, in contrast to more intense writing periods when I ask at least 1000 words a day from myself. That's not happening right now, and that's okay.

The ebb and flow is fine. C'est la vie. It's really nice to work without the pressure of deadlines and allow myself to rest when I need it.

Since Deltarune Chapters 3 & 4 is finally here I figured I should post an update to my journey on sewing all the characters of Deltarune. I haven’t even finished all of characters in chapters one and two but it’s obvious that there is going to be way more characters in Deltarune than Undertale. Which means I will definitely have my hands full! Work has been rough, making it difficult to find time to sew but I am still determined to make them all. Using the same sheet that I did when I took pictures of all the characters of Undertale that I made, including the castle (excluding the Core and Omega Flowey that I made later) it’s obvious that someday, when I finish making all of them, I’m going to have to take multiple pictures because I doubt they will all fit in the same space. I just finished playing chapter 3 and immediately wanted to make Tenna which you can see in the bottom corner because he was just too amazing of a character to wait to make. As always, thank you to @fwugradiation for his amazing games and all the happiness that they bring.

Hello my little invaders it is I, the great EMatooney back at it again with another update.

I sadly don’t have any big news to share but it’s still important that I bring it up.

Comic is still on hiatus. I’ve kinda been burnt out on it so I’m taking a tiny break from it. Also, my friend who was in charge of doing the backgrounds suddenly decided to quit because her husband’s grandmother died. Please support her! Her name is StarChild on TikTok.

I do sincerely apologize for the wait but I will all let you know when comic making is back up! This is only the beginning and I am definitely not seeing it end soon!

As for me, I’ll still be here! I’ve been working on a little AU for fun on my main blog. If you’re a fan of SGT Frog then it’ll definitely be your cup of tea!

Also, I’ve been working on a Doomsday Animation! I have some drawings done so as a treat I will show them to you!

CHAPTER 2 OF WING BONES TOUCHING IS UP!

Chapter 3 now sits at ~53.700 words!! I've made great progress these last two days, mainly by cutting back on non-essentials like sleep.

Word goal is still ~80k-90k for this chapter, so there's still quite a ways to go, and I have to take a little break soon since I need to focus on work and important real life academic achievements. But I'm enjoying the progress and I'm very proud of where this chapter is headed <3 thanks for being here

Patreon Announcement/Sort of Update

I've already posted this on my Patreon, but I'm posting it here as well for transparency's sake!

Work on CH12 has been absolutely tormenting me for the past year and I think, aside from personal circumstances, part of the reason is because I'm having Patreon Content Fatigue. You know, in case the increasingly erratic uploads and me running out of ideas for snippets weren't making that obvious 😭

So I've decided September (and potentially also October/November depending on how long it takes for CH12 to get finished) I'm going to focus solely on working on CH12. Instead of new character or romance snippets, I will be releasing previews and sneak peeks for CH12 every couple of days as I work on writing for it. I'll be aiming to post at least 2 previews every week, and they'll be available for all tiers. Hopefully that will also help me get some updates out for you guys on how progress is going!

After CH12 has been finished I may need to reassess how I'm handling the bonus snippet thing. I will still be writing them, of course, but at a certain point it's starting to feel like I'm just forcing it, and I want to avoid falling into that type of burnout as much as possible.

Of course, for those who want to pledge to my Patreon, you will still gain access to all the existing snippets for your tier, that won't change! You just won't see any new ones for a while and in exchange you will get CH12 previews instead. Possibly even for CH13/14 as well, since sometimes I write a scene and decide it doesn't fit in the current chapter, and save it for a future chapter instead.

I'm hoping this will take off some of the pressure that's causing my writer's block.

Hello! I hope you are all well and good! It's been over a month since I published the intro. I am currently working on the first draft of the prologue and decided to update you on the progress and what you can expect.

The pilot episode is a bit messy and fast paced. Lots of things happening all at once lol. Also more social media focused than the coming chapters. I wrote a good amount in August but September didn't start off well for me. I ended up falling severely ill and haven't written a word since then ahaha. I am back now though. I am hoping to have this draft finished by the beginning of November so that I can move on to polishing everything— which may or may not lead to scenes getting added or removed lol. I want this out asap. Fingers crossed!

Triaina: Academy Update (12/29/2023)

Hello everyone. It's been a long time coming hasn't it. But I am very happy to announce the new update for Triaina: Academy, which incorporates a whopping 81k words, even larger than I originally anticipated, to provide ya'll with a series of unique developments for each RO during the Day of Independence Festival.

It was far longer than I had originally anticipated, and took far more time in the development stages than I wanted it to due to my own scheduling complications and lack of effective time, but you are all nontheless justified in your concerns over the lack of progress.

I anticipate upcoming updates to be on a far reduced scale, both to decrease my workload and provide a bit more consistency in my presence.

For those that have been anticipating this update, thank you for your patience. I hope you thoroughly enjoy all of the new content that's been added, and be sure to let me know what you enjoyed most!
