fahed and reem are the parents to five children. the prolonged attack on gaza and subsequent destruction of everything they've known has forced them to fundraise, but the oldest, sahar (@fahedshehab9), has been making videos to help spread the word. the thought of a young girl advocating for her family's survival in front of the world is as heartbreaking 10 months into cruel bombardment as it was on october 7, october 6, 2023, 2014, 2008, and every single day since 1948 when palestine was first shattered.

this is the current progress of their fundraiser. sahar has done a wonderful job spreading the word so far, but as of posting, they still need €18,634 to meet their goal.
please help her and her family by sharing, reposting with the link, and donating what you're able!
EDIT (AUG 29): due to circumstances explained below, the goal has been increased to include her aunt and her family. please continue to donate and share!

CURRENT PROGRESS (09/01):
€46,307 / €85,000 -- €38,693 left to go!

Scientific American endorses Harris

TONIGHT (October 23) at 7PM, I'll be in DECATUR, GEORGIA, presenting my novel THE BEZZLE at EAGLE EYE BOOKS.
If Trump's norm-breaking is a threat to democracy (and it is), what should Democrats do? Will breaking norms to defeat norms only accelerate the collapse of norms, or do we fight fire with fire, breaking norms to resist the slide into tyranny?
Writing for The American Prospect, Rick Perlstein writes how "every time the forces of democracy broke a reactionary deadlock, they did it by breaking some norm that stood in the way":
https://prospect.org/politics/2024-10-23-science-is-political/
Take the Thirteenth Amendment, which abolished slavery, and the Reconstruction period that followed it. As Jefferson Cowie discusses, the 13th only passed because the slave states were excluded from its ratification, and even then, it barely squeaked over the line. The Congress that passed reconstruction laws that "radically reconstructed [slave states] via military subjugation" first ejected all the representatives of those states:
https://newrepublic.com/article/182383/defend-liberalism-lets-fight-democracy-first
The New Deal only exists because FDR was on the verge of packing the Supreme Court, and, under this threat, SCOTUS stopped ruling against FDR's plans:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/20/judicial-equilibria/#pack-the-court
The passage of progressive laws – "the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, Medicare, and Medicaid" – are all thanks to JFK's gambit of packing the House Rules Committee, ending the obstructionist GOP members' use of the committee to kill anything that would protect or expand America's already fragile social safety net.
As Perlstein writes, "A willingness to judiciously break norms in a civic emergency can be a sign of a healthy and valorous democratic resistance."
And yet…the Democratic establishment remains violently allergic to norm-breaking. Perlstein recalls the 2018 book How Democracies Die, much beloved of party elites and Obama himself, which argued that norms are the bedrock of democracy, and so the pro-democratic forces undermine their own causes when they fight reactionary norm-breaking with their own.
The tactic of bringing a norm to a gun-fight has been a disaster for democracy. Trump wasn't the first norm-shattering Republican – think of GWB and his pals stealing the 2000 election, or Mitch McConnell stealing a Supreme Court seat for Gorsuch – but Trump's assault on norms is constant, brazen and unapologetic. Progressives need to do more than weep on the sidelines and demand that Republicans play fair.
The Democratic establishment's response is to toe every line, seeking to attract "moderate conservatives" who love institutions more than they love tax giveaways to billionaires. This is a very small constituency, nowhere near big enough to deliver the legislative majorities, let alone the White House. As Perlstein says, Obama very publicly rejected calls to be "too liberal" and tiptoed around anti-racist policy, in a bid to prevent a "racist backlash" (Obama discussed race in public less than any other president since the 1950s). This was a hopeless, ridiculous own-goal: Perlstein points out that even before Obama was inaugurated, there were more than 100 Facebook groups calling for his impeachment. The racist backlash was inevitable had nothing to do with Obama's policies. The racist backlash was driven by Obama's race.
Luckily, some institutions are getting over their discomfort with norm-breaking and standing up for democracy. Scientific American the 179 year-old bedrock of American scientific publication, has endorsed Harris for President, only the second such endorsement in its long history:
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/vote-for-kamala-harris-to-support-science-health-and-the-environment/
Predictably, this has provoked howls of outrage from Republicans and a debate within the scientific community. Science is supposed to be apolitical, right?
Wrong. The conservative viewpoint, grounded in discomfort with ambiguity ("there are only two genders," etc) is antithetical to the scientific viewpoint. Remember the early stages of the covid pandemic, when science's understanding of the virus changed from moment to moment? Major, urgent recommendations (not masking, disinfecting groceries) were swiftly overturned. This is how science is supposed to work: a hypothesis can only be grounded in the evidence you have in hand, and as new evidence comes in that changes the picture, you should also change your mind.
Conservatives hated this. They claimed that scientists were "flip-flopping" and therefore "didn't know anything." Many concluded that the whole covid thing was a stitch-up, a bid to control us by keeping us off-balance with ever-changing advice and therefore afraid and vulnerable. This never ended: just look at all the weirdos in the comments of this video of my talk at last summer's Def Con who are absolutely freaking out about the fact that I wore a mask in an enclosed space with 5,000 people from all over the world in it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EmstuO0Em8
This intolerance for following the evidence is a fixture in conservative science denialism. How many times have you heard your racist Facebook uncle grouse about how "scientists used to say the world was getting colder, now they say it's getting hotter, what the hell do they know?"
Perlstein points to other examples of this. For example, in the 1980s, conservatives insisted that the answer to the AIDS crisis was to "just stop having 'illicit sex,'" a prescription that was grounded in a denial of AIDS science, because scientists used to say that it was a gay disease, then they said you could get it from IV drug use, or tainted blood, or from straight sex. How could you trust scientists when they can't even make up their minds?
https://www.newspapers.com/image/379364219/?terms=babies&match=1
There certainly are conservative scientists. But the right has a "fundamentally therapeutic discourse…conservatism never fails, it is only failed." That puts science and conservativism in a very awkward dance with one another.
Sometimes, science wins. Continuing in his history of the AIDS crisis, Perlstein talks about the transformation of Reagan's Surgeon General, C Everett Koop. Koop was an arch-conservative's arch-conservative. He was a hard-right evangelical who had "once suggested homosexuals were sedulously recruiting boys into their cult to help them take over America once they came of voting age." He'd also called abortion "the slide to Auschwitz" – which was weird, because he'd also opined that the "Jews had it coming for refusing to accept Jesus Christ."
You'd expect Koop to have continued the Reagan administration's de facto AIDS policy ("queers deserve to die"), but that's not what happened. After considering the evidence, Koop mailed a leaflet to every home in the USA advocating for condom use.
Koop was already getting started. His harm-reduction advocacy made him a national hero, so Reagan couldn't fire him. A Reagan advisor named Gary Bauer teamed up with Dinesh D'Souza on a mission to get Koop back on track. They got him a new assignment: investigate the supposed psychological harms of abortion, which should be a slam-dunk for old Doc Auschwitz. Instead, Koop published official findings – from the Reagan White House – that there was no evidence for these harms, and which advised women with an AIDS diagnosis to consider abortion.
So sometimes, science can triumph over conservativism. But it's far more common for conservativism to trump science. The most common form of this is "eisegesis," where someone looks at a "pile of data in order to find confirmation in it of what they already 'know' to be true." Think of those anti-mask weirdos who cling to three studies that "prove" masks don't work. Or the climate deniers who have 350 studies "proving" climate change isn't real. Eisegesis proves ivermectin works, that vaccinations are linked to autism, and that water fluoridation is a Communist plot. So long as you confine yourself to considering evidence that confirms your beliefs, you can prove anything.
Respecting norms is a good rule of thumb, but it's a lousy rule. The politicization of science starts with the right's intolerance for ambiguity – not Scientific American's Harris endorsement.
Tor Books as just published two new, free LITTLE BROTHER stories: VIGILANT, about creepy surveillance in distance education; and SPILL, about oil pipelines and indigenous landback.

The Week Ahead: October 7-13, 2024
Lunar Phases
Thursday, October 10, 18:55 UT - First Quarter Moon, 17°58’ Capricorn
The key phrases for the First Quarter lunar phase are “take action,” and “build new structures to support our intentions.” It may feel like we’re preparing for a fight (namely, the Aries Full Moon next week). Be canny and wise, prepared for hard work, and looking out for the longer-term ramifications.
Monday, October 14, 06:30 UT - Gibbous Moon, 6°24’ Pisces
The key phrases for the Gibbous lunar phase are “tweak and adjust plans as necessary,” and “pour more energy and effort into our intentions.” A lot of agitation and urgency; we may feel like hiding instead of fighting. Don’t give up before you even get started.
Void of Course Moon
Wednesday, October 9, 05:54 UT (Sagittarius) - 09:38 UT (Capricorn)
Friday, October 11, 15:53 UT (Capricorn) - 16:31 UT (Aquarius)
Sunday, October 13, 14:11 UT (Aquarius) - 19:55 UT (Pisces)
Retrograde/Direct/Etc.
Pre-retrograde shadow: Mars/Cancer, Jupiter/Gemini (until Wednesday the 9th)
Retrograde: Jupiter/Gemini (starting Wednesday the 9th), Saturn/Pisces, Chiron/Aries, Uranus/Taurus, Neptune/Pisces, Pluto/Capricorn (until Saturday the 12th), Eris/Aries
Post-retrograde shadow: Ceres/Capricorn
Transiting Jupiter stations retrograde on Wednesday, October 9, 07:05 UT, at 21°20’ Gemini. Support from others may seem to dry up; we’re more contemplative and philosophical.
Transiting Pluto stations direct on Saturday, October 12, 00:34 UT, at 29°38’ Capricorn. Time to show the hard work we’ve done on authenticity.
Ingress
Sunday, October 13, 19:23 UT - transiting Mercury enters Scorpio
Almost three weeks of our thoughts taking a darker turn. We’re looking for honesty and depth, but we need to be aware that not everyone is similarly inclined - or equipped.
Et Cetera
No Opportunity Periods this week. But hey, we’re at least out of the shadow of the eclipse!
It really is going to feel like we’re building up to some kind of fight, as the week progresses. Maybe we discover that healing is possible, but not just right now - maybe we keep surrendering before we try to fight - maybe overoptimism leads to a crash - however many people there are in the world, is how many possibilities there are.
It’s crucial to keep to those Capricorn traits as we navigate the days ahead. Prudence, caution, long-term strategies, discipline, hard work, self-reliance.
Most of the problems we face are not some brand-new issue, but rather something we’ve put off addressing - and perhaps we’ll learn a lesson about how “ignore it and it will go away” never works.

SPIRITBOX Announces New Album 'Tsunami Sea'
Two-time Grammy-nominated progressive heavy metal band SPIRITBOX is gearing up for its next chapter with the announcement of its sophomore album, "Tsunami Sea", set for release on March 7, 2025 via Pale Chord in partnership with Rise Records. The album was produced by Dan Braunstein and Mike Stringer, mixed by Zakk Cervini and mastered by Ted Jensen. In tandem with the news, the band has dropped their latest single, "Perfect Soul", alongside another one of their signature visually captivating music videos shot and directed by Dylan Hryciuk at Versa Films.
"Perfect Soul" offers a glimpse into the album's melodic sound, balancing riffs and groove with ethereal atmospheres to create a listening experience that pulls listeners in like an incoming tide. The track's haunting video, set in an abandoned oceanside hospital, follows an angelic Courtney LaPlante as she searches the afterlife, surrounded by ghostly figures and a grotesque, barnacle-covered creature. Interwoven with scenes of the band performing in decaying rooms, the visuals capture the song's dark, poetic essence, drawing viewers further into SPIRITBOX's evolving world.
The new single follows the band's initial release from the album, "Soft Spine", which received praise for its crushing intensity. Alt Press called it "relentlessly heavy," and Revolver described it as "a hella-bruising bangabout." These two releases demonstrate the band's commitment to pushing their sound in new directions while staying anchored to their metal roots.
SPIRITBOX has capped off a landmark year with their second Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance" for the 2025 awards, this time for their powerhouse track "Cellar Door", cementing their status as a driving force in modern metal. Adding to this momentum, in October SPIRITBOX reunited with hip-hop icon Megan Thee Stallion for her "Megan: Act II" deluxe album, adding their distinct edge to the song "Tyg".
Their ability to transcend genres has only amplified their reach, marking major milestones along the way. Joining KORN on their 30th-anniversary tour, SPIRITBOX hit a career high, bringing their explosive live show to packed arenas across the world. During the tour, they took the stage at Louder Than Life festival, where buzzworthy guest appearances from Poppy, Tati Shmayluk of JINJER, and Sam Carter of ARCHITECTS amplified an already unforgettable set.
As 2024 winds down, SPIRITBOX will join BRING ME THE HORIZON for stadium shows in Brazil and Mexico City, before embarking on their European headline tour in 2025. They've also been announced as support for LINKIN PARK's awaited world tour, joining them for performances in Italy, Netherlands and the U.K. With high-impact live shows and an ambitious new project on the horizon, the next chapter for SPIRITBOX promises to be their most thrilling yet.
"Tsunami Sea" track listing:
01. Fata Morgana 02. Black Rainbow 03. Perfect Soul 04. Keep Sweet 05. Soft Spine 06. Tsunami Sea 07. A Haven With Two Faces 08. No Loss, No Love 09. Crystal Roses 10. Ride The Wave 11. Deep End
For many artists, a meteoric rise can often mean a sudden plateau. However, for Grammy-nominated progressive heavy metal mainstays SPIRITBOX, there appears to be no end in sight on their near-constant ascent to the top. Formed in 2017 in the picturesque-yet-isolated region of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, by vocalist Courtney Laplante and guitarist Mike Stringer, SPIRITBOX would fully cement themselves as a household name in the summer of 2020 with the release of their blistering breakout single "Holy Roller", along with a host of other captivating singles shortly after, resulting in a media firestorm of hype.
With new and existing fans eagerly watching their next move, SPIRITBOX exceeded every expectation imaginable in 2021 with the release of their genre-defining debut studio album "Eternal Blue" via Pale Chord/Rise Records. "Eternal Blue", which debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200, kicked open the doors of the heavy metal scene and rewrote the genre's playbook with 12 stunning tracks that incorporated everything from djent and post-metal to infectious synth-laden pop sensibilities and cinematic arrangements, brought fully to life by the inimitable Laplante's ethereal and commanding vocal performances.
The album cycle for "Eternal Blue" saw SPIRITBOX not only grace the covers of esteemed music publications such as Revolver, Alternative Press, Rock Sound and Kerrang!, among many others but would also solidify the band as one of the most in-demand groups in live music today with their one-hundred percent sold out, first-ever headlining tour in support of the album which saw ticket sales over 40,000. The band would also share the stage with seasoned metal veterans such as LIMP BIZKIT and GHOST and win "Best International Breakthrough Band" at the 2021 Heavy Music Awards.
In 2022, SPIRITBOX secured highly-coveted spots at numerous major U.S. rock and metal festivals and were nominated for two Juno awards, respectively. SPIRITBOX would also round out their current lineup with the inclusion of drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert in addition to releasing their sonically experimental EP "Rotoscope" in June of that year as well as a cross-genre collaboration with dubstep artist Illenium for the track "Shivering".
During another whirlwind year for the band, including a U.S. tour with SHINEDOWN and PAPA ROACH, SPIRITBOX wrote and recorded their critically acclaimed EP "The Fear Of Fear", released in November 2023. The EP features the single "Jaded", which was nominated for "Best Metal Performance" at the 66th annual Grammy Awards. In the same month, the band would make another genre-bending splash with a high-profile collaboration with rapper Megan Thee Stallion for a remix of her song "Cobra".

Sunday Week in Review X
No obnoxious coffee in the car this week for a little driveway session. BUT Mr. Truly did bring me back one with doughnuts after Lil’ Truly’s (baby Truly's older sibling) swim lesson and couldn’t understand how a box of doughnuts could make me smile so wide (looking at you @secretelephanttattoo & @morallyinept 🍩)
Really enjoying the October prompts I started - it's been a fun break to get into something with no pressure and to just write without worrying about anything. I can't believe I'm like halfway through and I've not thrown in the towel yet (I've been tempted to skip a few days). It's also given way to some inspiration for some ongoing wip's and populated some new ones (I see you Tim Rockford).
But because of this, it's not really left me much time to read - so another light week, but it's okay! It means my TBR list (it's a work in progress that I've been neglecting and there's so much missing) is bursting with some incredibly great fanfics to get my teeth into next month!
Also, I am LIVING for everyone's weekly rounds ups, no matter how you format it or what you share - it's such a joy to see them popping up and getting to learn a little more about the people in this community!
T R U L Y U P D A T E S . . .

W H A T I R E A D . . .
Fort Bravo (Dieter) by @secretelephanttattoo Of course our man Bravo would be building blanket forts in his walk in wardrobe this week. I very much would like to build my own to go hide out with and wouldn’t say no to sharing it with Dieter either. Medicinal Purposes (Frankie) by @grogusmum Ironic I read this at the start of the week and finished it with two days off of work for a migraine lol. Alas, I did not have Frankie show on my doorstep to offer his services - but this was a spicy read that I may have read a couple of times for educational purposes.
PATS (Pedro Across the Street not RPF) by @oonajaeadira There’s a re-read this month, and not that I need an excuse, but it’s been fun dipping back into this world and reminding myself that I really should go book myself a massage. If you haven’t read this series I wholeheartedly recommend it, it’s top tier. It’s a comfort and a spicy read at the same time.
Headshots | Chapter 3 (Marcus) by @secretelephanttattoo El has been making waves in the Pike Puddle™️ with her Marcus Pike offerings as of late and this third instalment to Headshots is makes no less of an impact. This is so Marcus and just so sweet.
Salty & Sweet (Marcus) by @secretelephanttattoo I’m not the biggest fan of popcorn, but if Marcus Pike wants to eat it off me, who am I to say no?
Swimming Lessons with Catfish (Frankie) by @avastrasposts Okay, aside from the jokes that this is the title of the sex tape could make of this fic, this is an incredibly smoke show of a drabble that I may or may not have read a couple of times.
Frankie to the Rescue (Frankie) by @avastrasposts Again, Avastra is just blowing it out of the water with these drabbles this week! The whole time reading this I was excited to find out how it would play out and it did not disappoint.
Paranoid Heart (Javi P.) by @goodwithcheese I’m so behind with my reblogs this week (don’t look in my drafts) - but Megan comes in again this week with another fantastic instalment to this series and I’m falling for these two so hard.
in another life… (Frankie) by @chronically-ghosted Speaking of being behind, I read this while on one of my sick days and I’d you’ve not read Taylor’s work, you’re sleeping on it and you should check it out. This here is a slice of life with Frankie that is utterly atmospheric and beautifully written.
Bloom | Chapter 2 (Joel) by @wildemaven-prompts I. Am. Here. For. This 🙌 the little slow burn, Joel being a little awkward, the descriptions of the flowers 🌸 and most of all Ellie who almost manages to steal the show in every appearance. This whole series is a delight and we’re only two chapters in!
Unlikely Friends (Joel) by @sweetercalypso Despite having adopted Frankie Cat™️ last month I’m still not 100% on the cat train (don’t tell Frankie, she’s still bitching about the Andes man) - but this is incredibly sweet and I absolutely resonate with Joel trying to win over a cat (Frankie Cat may have just pounced at my feet from under the armchair that I’m supposed to pretend I didn’t see her under)
…assie (Frankie) by @frenchiereading I love everything Mel has been sharing with us from the Shared Breaths universe and this is just incredibly sweet. I don’t want to spoil anything, but my heart may have grown three sizes after reading the ending.
Ring Toss (Frankie) by @morallyinept Okay, if @secretelephanttattoo hadn’t changed my perspective on doughnuts, then Jett has permanently altered all thoughts about them. This is is just, lustfully and sinfully indulgent and Frankie is just a menace 🍩
M E M O R A B L E P O S T S . . .
Megan's 1K celebrations, go drip into her Asks and repent to our Gouda Mother of Cheesus
Catfish PhD program had another assignment: Module 6 - The Licence Suspension
All of @wildemaven's moodboards, they're beautiful and such a mooood 💕
Three words, LAW. ENFORCEMENT. BALL. @sin-djarin threw out a thot and a hero came along and answered the prayer we didn't all know we needed, @for-a-longlongtime and presented us with a treat with this WIP
I did a bad job of tracking this week, there were so many more great posts this week that I got to be a part of and enjoyed!
B R O U G H T T H E J O Y . . .
Honestly? This community. I feel like I sound like a broken record on the topic now and that if I keep going on about how wonderful everyone is here it’s going to lose all meaning. But I’m getting to witness friendships being made through posts, a community being built in real-time and getting to know you all better is a real joy.
Having said that, despite the bullshit I put out - I am socially awkward at my core and trying to preach what I say and jump into more inboxes and DM's. But both of mine are always open if you want to drop down and discuss anything or everything 🙌
Also, if we want something superficial to balance that out, I’m almost finished with Sons of Anarchy season seven, finally (oh I have so many feels), and copious amounts of gratuitous Jax Teller nudity certainly never goes unwelcomed amongst the angst (Kurt Sutter knew what he was doing). I will be dropping into your Asks at some point @laurfilijames, be warned (also still thinking about the ask you sent me, is not forgotten!).
T H I S W E E K ' S J A M . . .
Adeem the Artist has been on permanent rotation since @goodwithcheese shouted them out and I love everything about this song. The feel-good beat, the voice and those lyrics? 🙌 *perfection*
Happy Sunday all! Wising everyone a good week ahead! 💛

Scent of Thorns - Deathless Heights
Melodic Death Metal from Ioannina, Greece
Scent of Thorns is an Extreme Metal band founded in October 2022 in Ioannina, in the context of the music club of the University of Ioannina. Their artistic career began with covers from various genres of the Metal scene and simultaneously they progressed to the composition of their own music. Scent of Thorns took influence from bands such as Mors Principium Est, Jinjer, Eluveitie and with their main genre being Melodic Death Metal, they experiment with the aim of shaping their own distinct sound, that has characteristics of many genres such as Metalcore, Progressive Metal, Groove Metal etc. With their ultimate goal being to release a debut album in early 2025, they are planning to share the stage with great bands, performing their songs for their growing fanbase.

Special - the first draft written
17/07/2023: I made this post for myself to follow the progress of the story. And now, I can't but laugh since with two chapters written we already have two library scenes... That's Ruki and Yuriko for you. 🤣
19/07/2023: Three chapters in, three libraries visited. Oh my, these two... 😅 Jokes aside, it's so nice to write Elizabeth and Yuriko's interactions but also Ruki and Shin's bickering.
24/07/2023: Oh boy... I felt bad when I had to write another Laito scene. Such a disgusting moment but I think it still serves the story. But I can't wait for writing sweeter scenes between Ruki and Yuriko later...
27/07/2023: I haven't been able to write as fast as I hoped, but I'm still making progress. There are so many tiny things I need to fit into this that I start to regret I decided to follow the game structure. I need to think if I want to do that in future stories or if should I simply make my own structure for those...
Also, I ordered two CG edits yesterday, instead of one. Now, I need to decide which chapter will get one. The other goes to the After Story.
28/07/2023: I hoped I would have reached Ecstasy 10 by today but I guess that was a bit high goal. Still, I'm happy with these results. And damn, I enjoyed writing Ecstasy 08 today.
31/07/2023: Oh my... It was so much fun to write Ecstasy 09 too, even though the chapter isn't happy at all. But I think Yuriko has great moments there. Poor Ruki though...
31/07/2023 || Second Note: I managed to write Ecstasy 10 and start Ecstasy Epilogue. Of course, there is still a way to go with all the endings and the After Story... but I begin to have my skeleton version here. I'm rather positive that the first draft might be finished in August. Of course, there are editing rounds to come but still... I'm pleased about this.
02/08/2023: I wrote both Brute and Manservant Ends... and oh boy, that was quite a trip. Prepare yourself for a yandere Ruki. Now, I only have Vampire End, After Story, and Special chapter left before it's time to write all the smut scenes~ My reward is almost here! 💙
03/08/2023: I finished the first draft of the Vampire End. Huh, that was quite a roller coaster. The text is terrible at the moment though, such bad writing... but since I'm going to edit the story anyway, I don't mind it at this point.
Also, my goal was 30 000 words for this story but I guess I will go past that since I reached it already and there are still things I need to add. Like all smut scenes.
04/08/2023: OH MY GOSH! The story's first draft is pretty much finished. Only the smut scenes are missing from the main story.
I will work on the special story a bit later since it won't be released on Tumblr but in the ebook version of the story. So, the next project is to scribble three different types of smut scenes. 😏 The fourth and last one will be at the end of the special chapter.
09/08/2023: Haa... I have such huge writing urges but I got an unexpected job offer for three weeks and now I'm all stressed out and tired whenever I have free time... 😢 I should stop saying yes to these odd job offers, I guess... since I already have the job I love. But I'm bad at saying no... Buuut I managed to start the first smut scene! I hope I have the energy to finish it tomorrow or the latest at the weekend.
12/08/2023: I just finished the first smut scene of the story... and I think it's the dirtiest one so far in the whole His Possession. 🙈😳 The next ones won't be this dirty I think, since they serve different purposes for the story... But gosh, I rarely turn into a blushing mess because of my own writing but this... We'll see if I edit it milder or not... 🫣
17/08/2023: Finished the second smut scene. So now, there is one to go for the main story (there will be one in the special chapter too). Soon, I can leave this story in Ruki's admin's care. Though... tbh, it might still take a while since I have been so damn tired after work. Writing has become slow and difficult because of this. But I'm trying my best. I want to publish this story by the end of this year.
20/08/2023: The main story is finished. 🥳 I will write the special later, but everything else is now drafted. Of course, there will be a lot of editing and I might even add scenes here and there but mostly the story is now formed.
Anyway, the next step is to give this in @ruki-mukami-dl's hands but I'm positive that everyone else can read it before this year ends. So, look forward to that.
09/10/2023: I got the special chapter back from @ruki-mukami-dl today. I still need to make some fixes in it, but it's mostly done. It will be published only in the ebook version of the story. But it will bring almost 20 pages worth of extra content. The chapter will be in Ruki’s point of view, and it can be rather triggering for sensitive people. But it surely was interesting to write together with Ruki’s admin 💙
Other than that, I'm making the cover for the printed book on the weekend. So, the ebook's cover is on its way, too. Then, just one final CG edit and everything is ready for November. Ah, I can’t wait to share the story!

Transiting Pallas Athene stations retrograde
Timeline (current events in bold)
Saturday, January 6, 20:07 UT - transiting Pallas Athene enters pre-retrograde shadow, 19°46’ Scorpio
Tuesday, February 6, 08:04 UT - transiting Pallas Athene enters Sagittarius
Friday, March 29, 13:18 UT - transiting Pallas Athene stations retrograde, 8°36’ Sagittarius
Thursday, May 16, 17:32 UT - transiting Pallas Athene re-enters Scorpio
Wednesday, July 20, 02:47 UT - transiting Pallas Athene stations direct, 19°46’ Scorpio
Sunday, September 8, 10:25 UT - transiting Pallas Athene re-enters Sagittarius
Saturday, October 5, 04:09 UT - transiting Pallas Athene exits post-retrograde shadow, 8°36’ Sagittarius
Caveat: this probably won’t have much of an impact on you personally, unless Pallas Athene is prominent in your birth chart - closely in aspect to the Sun, the Moon, &/or an angle. It may also have a stronger effect if transiting Pallas Athene happens to make an aspect to your Sun, Moon, &/or an angle, during this time.
Once upon a time, we became over-optimistic - or decided that we could just coast through something that takes real hard work - or trusted in our luck - or blew off something important. And now, it has come back to bite us in the butt.
Creative wisdom and intelligence - we aren’t as clever or as learned as we thought we were. This is where the consequences of “blowing something off as unimportant or unnecessary” are likely to show up.
Arts and artisans - every time Pallas Athene is retrograde, without fail, I end up putting some yarn project on hold, sometimes permanently. Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s only an idea, or an actual work-in-progress. Somewhere, Ariadne is shaking her head at me.
Political activism - disillusionment, perhaps with a person, perhaps with a cause. A phrase I see a lot, these days, usually addressed to US voters: “Nobody is coming to save us. We have to do it ourselves.”
Professional excellence - we don’t get that promotion or raise; a training we really wanted/needed falls through; we may be thinking about a pretty drastic job change. Commitment-phobia to the company.
When we look back on it, we will probably see that the “blowing off” actually occurred when Pallas Athene was still in Scorpio - back in January, something didn’t get thought through, or we weren’t “ready” to face some underlying problem. And now’s our chance!
Allow a few days on either side of these aspects.
Monday, April 22 - Pallas Athene Rx/Sagittarius square Juno Rx/Virgo, 6°17’. Gender issues; conflicts between one’s work and one’s partner. This is a square, so the problems are most likely self-inflicted.
Thursday, May 9 - Pallas Athene Rx/Sagittarius sextile Pluto Rx/Aquarius, 2°05’. Here is where we may (begin to) figure out what we did wrong. We could join a support group, or a group with goals similar to ours.

Fan-filmed video of the "Freak On A Leash" performance, featuring a guest appearance by EVANESCENCE's Amy Lee, can be seen below.
KORN kicked off its summer/fall 2024 North American tour on September 12 at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida. The band's 18-song setlist, which is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of KORN's debut album, included "Oildale" mostly the band's 2010 LP "Korn III: Remember Who You Are" and "Hey Daddy", a track from KORN's 1999 album "Issues" which had only ever previously been performed almost 25 years ago.
The rock cultural icons' 25-date Live Nation-produced trek featuring special guests, Grammy-nominated band GOJIRA and Canadian heavy metal group SPIRITBOX, will wrap up in St. Paul, Minnesota at Xcel Energy Center on October 27.
When the BMO show was first announced in March, KORN singer Jonathan Davis said in a statement: "Reflecting on thirty years of KORN fills me with such immense gratitude for our journey, the growth we've experienced, and the incredible bond we share with our fans. It's humbling to see how our music has touched so many lives across the globe. From our small club beginnings to now headlining stadiums, it's been an unforgettable ride, and we owe it all to our amazing, undying, loyal community that's made it possible. I'm really looking forward to this incredible night to celebrate together."
KORN changed the world with the release of their self-titled debut album in 1994. It was a record that would pioneer a genre, and blur others-leading into a larger cultural movement. Since forming, KORN has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, collected two Grammys, toured the world countless times, and set many records in the process that will likely never be surpassed. KORN has continued to push the limits of the rock, alternative and metal genres, while remaining a pillar of influence for legions of fans, and generations of artists around the globe.
The level of KORN's reach transcends accolades and platinum certifications. They are "a genuine movement in a way bands cannot be now," attests The Ringer. They represent a new archetype and radical innovation, their ability to transcend genre makes barriers seem irrelevant.
In a March 2024 interview with the WSOU 89.5 FM radio station, KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to the band's 2022 album "Requiem". He said: "Well, I'll just say, yes, we are passionately and intensely working on new music. We're a little bit behind. We've been really digging deep into sounds and tones and miking techniques and just really focusing on every aspect of just the miking and the sonic levels of everything because… I love the last few records we've done in the last 10 years, but I think — I just have something in me that thinks we could beat the tones. I love the songs that we've done, but tone-wise I feel like we can beat it. So we're spending a lot more time on this new music, we're spending a lot more money [chuckles], and we don't have any record label involved, so it's all coming from us. And we really want to dissect our sound and remember where we came from and how we did it back then. And having a vintage KORN feel with a modern twist — sonically, I'm talking about. So it's very intense. The songs are amazing. I'm very proud of it. I feel like we are closer than we've ever been in the studio. And Jonathan [Davis, KORN singer] has been there every day."
According to Welch, he and his KORN bandmates are working on new music "off and on. We'll work for — I don't know — a couple of weeks. Then I won't see [Jonathan] for a month or two," he explained. "But it's starting to pick up now because we wanna put new music out. We're a little bit behind, but we're very proud of what we're doing. And we can't wait for people to hear it."
Regarding the musical direction of the new KORN material, Brian said: "I think it's the best and heaviest KORN stuff in years. And I think it's gonna be raw and just kind of more basic, as far as sound and recording and everything. I don't wanna give it all away, but we're just very, very pleased with where we're at right now."
Welch — who rejoined KORN more than a decade ago, eight years after leaving the band and at the same time announcing that he kicked his addictions to drugs and alcohol by becoming a born-again Christian — also clarified that he and the rest of KORN "haven't started recording" the band's next album "yet, but we're very passionately heading toward that direction. And we can't wait for everybody to hear it."
KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu announced in June 2021 that he would sit out the band's tour in order to "heal" after "falling back" on some of his "bad habits." He has since been replaced on the road by SUICIDAL TENDENCIES bassist Roberto "Ra" Díaz.
Released in February 2022, "Requiem", which was produced by Chris Collier and KORN, entered Billboard's Hard Rock Albums chart at No. 1. The band sold 23,000 equivalent album units in the February 4-10, 2022 tracking week, according to Billboard. Of that sum, 20,000 units were from album sales. "Requiem" also landed at No. 2 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts. On the all-format Billboard 200, it arrived at No. 14.
Despite the fact that he hasn't performed with his KORN bandmates for more than three years, Fieldy did play on "Requiem".

Su-34 fall in the Voronezh region
Diego Alves By Diego Alves 09/20/2023 - 13:00in Aeronautical Accidents, Military
A Sukhoi Su-34 fighter crashed in the Russian region of Voronezh, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Wednesday (20).
Russian "propagandist" Ilya Tumanov confirmed on his influential Fighterbomber channel the crash of the Su-34 aircraft.
"There was a failure in the landing gear. After trying to solve it by all possible and impossible means, the crew ended up ejecting it from the aircraft," Tumanov wrote on Telegram.
The Ministry of Defense said that two crew members who were on board the $50 million fighter were able to eject themselves from the aircraft safely before it crashed, around 10 a.m. local time.

Supposed location of the SU-34 crash this morning (20).
Officials said that the supersonic jet crashed “during a scheduled training flight” without ammunition, and that the cause of the accident may have been a technical defect.
The two-seat Sukhoi jet crashed in the Voronezh region, adjacent to Ukraine's eastern border with Russia.
The accident occurs days after a Russian Su-24 jet crashed in the Kalachevsky district of the Volgograd region, allegedly during a scheduled training flight. The cause of this accident has not yet been determined. It is believed that the crew died in the accident.
“The plane crashed far from populated areas. There were no victims,' the Russian Ministry of Defense reported. Illustrative image.
In October 2022, another Su-34 fighter collided with a residential building in a small port town in the Krasnodar Krai region of western Russia during a training flight, killing 15 people, authorities said.
“While climbing to make a training flight in the military airfield of the southern military district, a Su-34 aircraft crashed,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement at the time. "According to the report of ejected pilots, the cause of the plane's crash was the fire of one of the engines during takeoff."
In March, another Su-34 crashed in Yenakievo, in Donetsk oblast, in eastern Ukraine, with reports indicating that Ukraine was not involved.

16 YEARS AGO OCTOBER 2ND, 2007
KIDS - MGMT
Released as a the fifth track of American indie-rock band MGMT's album "Oracular Spectacular".
I know this song from The Axis of Awesome's "4 Chords" on where they sing many popular songs that feature the same four chords. MGMT's Kids "vi - IV - I - V" progression can also be found in songs like Toto's "Africa", The Smashing Pumpkins' "Bullet With Butterfly Wings", Avril Lavigne's "Complicated", The Offspring's "You're Gonna Go Far Kid", Bon Jovi's "It's My Life", Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" and Aqua's "Barbie Girl".
In this very exact video btw, they sing the apparently common misheard lyric "Enjoy yourself", the actual lyric goes "Control yourself."
Now that we're talking about lyrics, this song is about nostalgia ofc, more simpler times as a child, the glorious day; and then about how when one grows up, they lose their innocense, fun gets deprioritized and they have to blend into the ways of adult society; the struggle is an inpending threat. Yet, still, one must try to mantain that love for live that they had as a kid.
An earlier version of the track can be found in their 2005 EP "Time to Pretend".
The official video for the song was produced and released on 2009, yet before that, on January 2008 some University of South California student uploaded to YouTube a video made for an assigmentment in which his fellow friends Abby and Rafel appeared face-painted and lip-syncing to the song with some clips of people dancing thrown in it. It became widely popular as it has over 52 million views today. And we can see in the comments how many people thought for a while this was the official video and those two friends were the members of MGMT. Abby and Rafael btw were actually contacted, invited and appeared in the official music video for MGMT's "Electric Feel".
Now in the actual official music video, there's an intro scene with fire behind where we see a Mark Twain quote... that he actually never said and it's Nietzsche's actually; there's a beautiful orchestral rendition of the song playing and we can hear some radio communication from the Apollo 11 mission.
If you have seen the music video already, you probably were worried about its protagonist: a baby who through the video is scared and frightened into crying and sobbing in absolute fear by clawy and nightmarish monsters that surround his crib; and later outside by humans who for the baby, they look like bloody mutilated monsters.
At the end, the music video switches from live-action to an amazing surreal animation sequence animated by Christy Karacas (Fast flashing colours warning for this part).
So of course many people got upset by the apparent trauma-inducing experience that this baby actor (named Zachary) got, but the band claims that no one was harmed and there's a behind-the-scenes video where we see the baby happily playing with the monsters. I watched the video and my concern switched from the baby to that band member who's making out with the a dog, what the fuck. So yeah, apparently the baby was crying cuz he was hungry, and his mom (his actual mom, not the uncaring one we see in the music video) made sure he befriended all the monsters first.
Zachary was 18 months old at the time of recording, so he's like 15 or 16 right now. Crazy to think about and I do wonder what he thinks of the video, he probably has watched it himself already by this point.
The song is included in the FIFA 09 soundtrack. There was some legal battle with the president of France for using the song and offering the band a single euro. It also appears in the documentary Tapped. Soulwax remixed the song and through Soulwax remixes I discovered Arcade Fire.
I once played the song's chorus on a keyboard.
