"Today it’s university faculty, immigrants and civil servants on the enemies list. Tomorrow, it could be you.
Anyone who challenges power can be transformed into a threat with frightening speed."
It is time we see these tactics for what they are and recognize who the real enemies are: not our neighbors, classmates or coworkers, but those who profit from division, anger and confusion."

The Doomsday Clock serves as a metaphorical gauge indicating humanity's proximity to worldwide disaster. Managed by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, it is not an actual timepiece but a metaphor for existential threats like nuclear war, climate change, and emerging technologies. The best atomic digital clock may provide precise time, but the Doomsday Clock measures the world's danger levels. Since its creation in 1947, the Doomsday Clock has been adjusted multiple times. Each year, experts discuss global risks and determine if the Doomsday Clock moved closer to midnight or further away. The 2025 update placed it at 89 seconds to midnight, the closest it has ever been. Many wonder, "what does 89 seconds mean?" It signifies an unprecedented level of risk due to ongoing global crises. The Doomsday Clock live updates can be followed on the Doomsday Clock website live, where the latest threats are analyzed. The question "what happens if the Doomsday Clock ends?" has no definitive answer, but theoretically, it would symbolize global disaster. The Doomsday Clock update 2025 reflects a dangerous geopolitical climate, making many ask, "how many minutes to midnight Doomsday?" As of 2025, it is 89 seconds to midnight. The Doomsday Clock design remains iconic, influencing culture and media, including the Doomsday Clock comic series. Many discuss its presence in literature, with the Doomsday Clock complete collection available at bookstores like Doomsday Clock Barnes and Noble. Understanding what is midnight Doomsday Clock helps people grasp the urgency of global threats.   History and Evolution of the Doomsday Clock The Doomsday Clock was initially positioned at seven minutes before midnight in 1947. It was designed by Martyl Langsdorf and introduced by the Chicago Atomic Scientists, a group involved in the Manhattan Project. Since then, the Doomsday Clock moved closer to midnight or farther, depending on global conditions. One of the most significant shifts occurred in 1953, when the Doomsday Clock was set at two minutes to midnight after the U.S. and USSR tested hydrogen bombs. The furthest from disaster was in 1991, at 17 minutes to midnight. However, recent years have seen a disturbing trend: in Doomsday Clock January 24 2023, it moved to 90 seconds to midnight, and by 2025, it reached 89 seconds. Many wonder, "who sets Doomsday Clock?" The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists' Science and Security Board makes the decision based on geopolitical events, climate change, and emerging threats. The Doomsday Clock TV Tropes page explains its significance in popular culture, including its connection to the Doomsday Clock Superman vs Dr Manhattan storyline. The Doomsday Clock getcomics discussions often reference how Doomsday Clock how it works relates to real-world fears. While some ask, "is the Doomsday Clock valid?", its symbolism remains powerful. Even though the atomic clock is used for measuring precise time, the Doomsday Clock tracks existential risk. With each Doomsday Clock update, concerns grow. The next Doomsday Clock to be set in Chicago will reveal if conditions have worsened. Understanding what time does the Doomsday Clock say helps gauge global stability, making its adjustments a critical moment in global affairs. Doomsday Clock’s Role in Current Global Threats The Doomsday Clock serves as a warning about rising global threats. Experts analyze factors like nuclear conflicts, climate change, and technological dangers before deciding if the Doomsday Clock moved closer to midnight. In Doomsday Clock January 24 2023, it was set to 90 seconds to midnight, reflecting tensions from geopolitical events such as the war in Ukraine. The latest Doomsday Clock update 2025 placed it at 89 seconds, raising concerns about escalating risks. Many people check Doomsday Clock live updates to stay informed. The Doomsday Clock website live provides insights into the reasoning behind these adjustments. People frequently ask, "why is the Doomsday Clock set at 90 seconds?", reflecting widespread concerns about global uncertainty. Despite being symbolic, the Doomsday Clock design remains influential. It has inspired media, including the Doomsday Clock comic and its famous Doomsday Clock issue 5. The Doomsday Clock complete collection is widely available, including at Doomsday Clock Barnes and Noble. One common inquiry is, "what is the Doomsday Clock set at 2024?" Before the 2025 update, it was 90 seconds to midnight, already an alarming position. The Doomsday Clock TV Tropes page discusses its cultural impact, while the Doomsday Clock absolute edition appeals to collectors. The next Doomsday Clock to be set in Chicago will likely bring new debates. With ongoing conflicts and technological risks, many ask, "when does Doomsday Clock update?" Given past trends, it is adjusted annually, making future predictions a subject of widespread discussion. Scientific and Political Criticism of the Doomsday Clock The Doomsday Clock has sparked debate among scientists and policymakers. While some see it as a crucial warning system, others question, "is the Doomsday Clock valid?" Critics argue that it lacks a precise formula and is influenced by subjective factors. Cognitive psychologist Steven Pinker criticized the Doomsday Clock design, calling it a "political stunt" rather than a scientific metric. He noted inconsistencies, pointing out that during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Doomsday Clock was set further from midnight than in calmer years. Meanwhile, conservative media outlets claim it pushes a specific agenda rather than objective risk assessment. Despite this, many still monitor Doomsday Clock live updates. The Doomsday Clock website live provides detailed reports, and bookstores like Doomsday Clock Barnes and Noble offer historical collections. The Doomsday Clock comic has also influenced public perception, with the Doomsday Clock complete collection keeping the discussion relevant in pop culture. The debate extends to nuclear policy. Some scientists believe the atomic clock with second hand provides more tangible data on global timekeeping than the Doomsday Clock, which is more of a symbolic gauge. However, given recent events, including the Doomsday Clock update 2025, supporters argue that it remains a necessary reminder of global threats. The next Doomsday Clock to be set in Chicago will likely face renewed scrutiny. Some question, "when does Doomsday Clock end?", but there is no definitive answer. Instead, it continues to serve as a visual metaphor, prompting discussions on whether humanity is moving toward safety or catastrophe. Cultural Impact and Media Representation of the Doomsday Clock The Doomsday Clock has influenced various aspects of media and pop culture, appearing in literature, comics, and television. One of the most notable references is in the Doomsday Clock comic, which explores its themes through fiction. The Doomsday Clock complete collection is widely available, including at Doomsday Clock Barnes and Noble, where fans can explore its symbolic storytelling. Beyond comics, the Doomsday Clock TV Tropes page documents its influence on movies, video games, and books. The visual representation of Doomsday Clock design has been used in films and documentaries to symbolize imminent catastrophe. The iconic Doomsday Clock picture has been reproduced in news articles and public discussions about global risks. With each Doomsday Clock update, the world reacts. The Doomsday Clock live tracking has gained popularity, and many follow the Doomsday Clock website live to monitor changes. The concept even extends to fan theories and alternative media, with some speculating, "when does Doomsday Clock end?" This ongoing debate keeps its relevance alive. Recent adaptations have expanded its narrative reach. The Doomsday Clock Superman vs Dr Manhattan storyline integrates the symbolic clock into superhero lore, further cementing its place in modern fiction. Additionally, Doomsday Clock issue 5 remains one of the most discussed releases, particularly for its connection to real-world anxieties. As global tensions rise, people question, "what time does the Doomsday Clock say?" and "how many minutes to midnight Doomsday?" The Doomsday Clock update 2025 showed it at 89 seconds to midnight, reflecting growing concerns over global security. Whether viewed as a scientific warning or a cultural phenomenon, its impact is undeniable. The Role of Atomic Clocks and Timekeeping in the Doomsday Clock Unlike the best atomic digital clock, which provides precise time, the Doomsday Clock is a metaphor for existential threats. However, both rely on accurate calculations. The atomic clock is used for scientific measurements, ensuring precise synchronization, while the Doomsday Clock evaluates global risk. The Doomsday Clock design was created to visually communicate urgency. Unlike an atomic clock with second hand, which follows absolute time, the Doomsday Clock is adjusted based on expert assessments. The Doomsday Clock moved closer to midnight in Doomsday Clock update 2025, reflecting heightened global tensions. Some critics argue that the Doomsday Clock lacks scientific precision, questioning, "is the Doomsday Clock valid?" Others counter that, while it may not be a traditional timepiece, it serves as an effective tool for raising awareness. The Doomsday Clock website live provides real-time updates on its status, reinforcing its significance. The connection between atomic timekeeping and the Doomsday Clock extends to historical tracking. Before 2025, it was set at 90 seconds to midnight, already dangerously close. The Doomsday Clock absolute edition documents its historical changes. As people anticipate when does Doomsday Clock update, the focus remains on global stability. Future adjustments, such as the Doomsday Clock to be set in Chicago, will continue to shape discussions on world security. The intersection of precise timekeeping and symbolic warnings makes both atomic clocks and the Doomsday Clock crucial in understanding human progress and risk. The Future of the Doomsday Clock and Potential Risks As global tensions escalate, many wonder, "what happens if the Doomsday Clock ends?" While the Doomsday Clock is symbolic, its movement toward midnight indicates growing dangers. The Doomsday Clock moved closer to midnight in 2025, reaching 89 seconds, the most critical setting yet. One of the key threats influencing the Doomsday Clock update 2025 is nuclear proliferation. Political instability, conflicts, and the threat of war make many check Doomsday Clock live updates. The Doomsday Clock website live offers insights into potential risks, keeping the public informed. In addition to nuclear risks, environmental issues play a role. Scientists analyze climate change when deciding "when does Doomsday Clock update?" The impact of global warming has been a major reason for past adjustments, including the Doomsday Clock January 24 2023 shift to 90 seconds to midnight. Technological advancements also contribute to concerns. AI development and cyber threats make some question "who sets Doomsday Clock?" The decision lies with the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, who assess how these risks impact humanity’s future. The upcoming Doomsday Clock to be set in Chicago will further determine global stability. Many also reflect on the Doomsday Clock TV Tropes perspective, which critiques its use as a dramatic device. Whether viewed as a warning or a cultural symbol, the Doomsday Clock remains relevant. As the world faces new challenges, its updates serve as a stark reminder of humanity’s fragile existence. Understanding the Urgency of the Doomsday Clock The Doomsday Clock is more than a countdown—it is a representation of humanity’s proximity to catastrophe. The Doomsday Clock update 2025 at 89 seconds to midnight highlights the increasing risks posed by nuclear tensions, climate change, and technological threats. Understanding Doomsday Clock how it works helps people grasp its significance. Unlike a best atomic digital clock, which measures time precisely, the Doomsday Clock symbolizes existential threats. Each adjustment reflects global stability, making the Doomsday Clock live updates a crucial indicator of potential disasters. For those questioning, "what is the Doomsday Clock set at 2024?", it was 90 seconds to midnight before moving closer in 2025. The Doomsday Clock website live provides real-time updates, reinforcing its importance in global discussions. While some debate, "is the Doomsday Clock valid?", Its ongoing presence reflects its significance. The upcoming Doomsday Clock to be set in Chicago will once again highlight world affairs. As people speculate "when does Doomsday Clock end?", experts stress that proactive measures can push it back. The goal is not to reach midnight but to work towards reversing its advance. From its presence in literature, including the Doomsday Clock comic, to real-world implications, the Doomsday Clock remains a critical measure of global risk. Whether reflecting on "how many minutes to midnight Doomsday" or checking the Doomsday Clock absolute timeline, staying informed is essential. As threats evolve, the Doomsday Clock serves as a powerful reminder of humanity’s responsibility to prevent disaster. Read the full article

Wow! That video says it all.
This election is so consequential…
There’s women’s right to reproductive healthcare, despite what the pro-fascism movement says, abortions are not simply to end an unwanted pregnancies. Many pregnancies will incur complications, ending the viability of the fetus and putting the woman’s ability to have a child again, and her very life at risk. The fact that, a majority male legislature, a majority male Supreme Court, NONE of them OBGYN’s or medical doctors, have ANY say is preposterous!
There’s the continuation of American democracy as it’s stood for nearly 250 years. This Christian nationalist, right wing slow moving coup. Drifting is closer and closer to fascism in their minoritarian rule they’ve co-opted. The dystopian future laid out for us to live in their manifesto, Project 2025
There’s the Supreme Court itself. The three MAGA justices installed by the Manderin Mussolini will be a thorn in the side for 30 year as is, denying us of any accountability from corporations and oligarchs. They have ripped more freedoms away than they have given or protected. A Trump win will be Sam Alito and Clearance Thomas’ inevitable retirement. Oh shoot! Did I say clearance, guess because he is for sale to whatever billionaire has interests coming before the court it must have autocorrected to that. These future installments of far right extremist will affect our lives, and our children’s lives for at least the next 30 years.
There’s the oligarchs too. Trump has over 60 billionaire donors to his reelection campaign. I doubt that’s due to his level headedness. Trump was caught on camera saying to oil executives, if you give my campaign a billion dollars, I will make it worth your while. Elon Douchebag Musk is one of these. His financial interests in federal dollars is a rampant conflict of interest.
Labor rights. More and more states are becoming “Right to Work” states. Which is a covert way of saying that employees can’t organize and labor unions are stripped of their power, leaving the fate of workers up to the generous (he said sarcastically) hands of corporations.
There’s LGBTQ rights. In America, you should be able to love whomever you want, however, and without shame. Period. As long as it’s consensual and statutorily legal, there shouldn’t be any limitations on loving who and how you want.
Then there’s this aspect known as the planet we live on. The GOP is notoriously anti-science. For years they have denied any climate science. With Ron DeSantis going so far as to ban the term in any Florida legislation. Trump, less than a month ago, was claiming it was just a hoax. When every year is the hottest year on record consecutively, when we see time lapse video of glacier melt, when species and coral wreaths are disappearing at an alarming rate, more and more extreme weather events, droughts, floods. The financial cost is staggering. The ecological cost is devastating.
This election, remember, it’s not just voting against the Cheeto Crusted Jesus, it’s not Dems vs GOP. It’s the future itself and how, or if we can exist in it. Please vote.
Vote Kamala Harris and Tim Walz at the top, and blue down ballot. Because the Republicans don’t care about the climate crisis, or you. They want wealth from their oil tycoons, and power. Without a Democratic House and Senate there will be no advancement of protections.
May the sun shine on your face, and the wind be on your back. ☮️💟🇺🇸

(Global mean surface-temperature change from 1880 to 2017, relative to the 1951–1980 mean. The 1951-1980 mean is 14.18 °C (57.52 °F). The black line is the global annual mean, and the red line is the five-year local regression line. The blue uncertainty bars show a 95% confidence interval.)
Global warming, also referred to as climate change, is the observed century-scale rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system and its related effects. Multiple lines of scientific evidence show that the climate system is warming. Many of the observed changes since the 1950s are unprecedented in the instrumental temperature record, and in paleoclimate proxy records of climate change over thousands to millions of years.
Biosphere
Overall, it is expected that climate change will result in the extinction of many species and reduced diversity of ecosystems.Rising temperatures have been found to push bees to their physiological limits, and could cause the extinction of bee populations.A 2012 study concluded that continued ocean uptake of CO2 affects the brains and central nervous system of certain fish species and this impacts their ability to hear, smell, and evade predators. The study authors note, "We've now established it isn't simply the acidification of the oceans that is causing disruption—as is the case with shellfish and plankton with chalky skeletons -- but the actual dissolved CO2 itself is damaging the fishes' nervous systems."
Environmental
Arctic sea ice decline, sea level rise, retreat of glaciers: Global warming has led to decades of shrinking and thinning in a warm climate that has put the Arctic sea ice in a precarious position, it is now vulnerable to atmospheric anomalies.Projections of declines in Arctic sea ice vary.Recent projections suggest that Arctic summers could be ice-free (defined as ice extent less than 1 million square km) as early as 2025–2030.The sea level rise since 1993 has been estimated to have been on average 2.6 mm and 2.9 mm per year ± 0.4 mm. Additionally, sea level rise has accelerated from 1995 to 2015.Over the 21st century, the IPCC projects for a high emissions scenario, that global mean sea level could rise by 52–98 cm.

SciAm: "What to Know about #Project2025 ’s Dangers to Science
"The [#Project2025] policy handbook is not a light read. It is at turns wonkish, militant and sneering (and sometimes all three at once, such as when it calls for transforming federal institutions into “hard targets” for “woke culture warriors”). It tears down policies to curb climate change, even though a majority of Americans endorse climate action.
“The independence of science is being attacked across the board in this document,” says Rachel Cleetus…"
