We don’t get a number but we do get general idea of how long Medusa has been around. In Prometheus Bound it’s stated that the Gorgons were around when Io was still wandering and pregnant, Io is Perseus and Andromeda’s ancestor which means that Medusa was around for hundreds of years, but how can this be if she’s mortal? Well it could be that she had longevity like Nestōr and Tiresias and like them she could still age and die but her lifespan is longer.
Now that I think about it, Medusa is never depicted as an older woman in retellings, she’s either a teen or in her twenties or she’s an eternally young 1000 something years old.
Same goes with other women in mythology like Phaedra and Cassandra who are implied to be older.
Ageism yayyyy
Also ppl can’t comprehend older women being victims, hell they can’t comprehend them being protagonists. It’s why you see Romantasy books always have 18-20 something year old female leads.

Dionysus may have more connections to Prometheus than at first glance
One of Dionysus’ lines, “what’s [Prometheus] gonna do, cook our meat?”, is likely a direct reference to a line from the play, The Birds, by the comic poet Aristophanes. Prometheus is featured in the play, and the main character tells Prometheus “I know we’re not supposed to like you, but thank you for giving us fire for cooking meat”, to which Prometheus says “I hate Gods”
Oh cool. A possible reference to a real play, nice.
But get this-! Remember how Dionysus saw Frinos and goes “I hope that frog doesn’t sing” as a reference to Aristophanes’ The Frogs? The time Dionysus went to the Underworld to resurrect a poet?
Well that poet was Aeschylus. Writer of Prometheus Bound.
And get this. It was said Aeschylus became a tragic poet because Dionysus showed up to him in his dreams and told him to write tragedies.
Meaning it’s very likely that it was Dionysus himself made sure Prometheus Bound got written. THE play that is the reason Prometheus is remembered fondly as a hero rather than a traitor.
Then there’s the Aesop legend where Dionysus got Prometheus drunk on nectar before work and that’s how Prometheus accidentally made queer people, but I choose not to regard it since it’s clearly for giggles— how is Dionysus there if there are no mortals yet and he’s half mortal? Anyway.
Of course Dionysus wants to invite Prometheus to his feast. Dionysus is probably Prometheus’ biggest fan 😂

omg medusa didnt do anything and wasnt dangerous
"The Gorgonian plain of Cisthene, where The Phorkides live, those three long-lived Young women in the shape of swans, who share one eye And one tooth – the sun never looks at them With his beams, nor the moon at night. Near them are their sisters, the three winged Snaky-haired Gorgons hateful to humans, Whom no mortal can look upon and live. That’s the kind of thing you should guard against. But let me tell you about another difficult-to-handle sight: Watch out for Zeus’s sharp-beaked unbarking Dogs, the gryphons, and the one-eyed army Of Arimaspians on horseback -- they live Around the gold-flowing water of Pluto’s stream. Keep away from them. Then you’ll come to a far Country, and a black tribe who live near The springs of the sun" -Prometheus Bound
Yeah, ok, then why does Prometheus have to explicitly warn Io (the woman who's basically just what people WANT medusa to be) to avoid them? He clearly has them being dangerous and to be avoided, putting them together with natural dangers and griffins.
its interesting that the Graeae are mentioned here too like they are all dangerous monsters.

I think it's absolutely wild that there is an argument about whether Prometheus is more of a Christ figure or a Luciferian figure, and what makes it even more wild is that both arguments are actually compelling. It's like "here are extremely opposite interpretations, also you're not gonna have a clue which claim is better."
For what it's worth, I'm a "Prometheus was a pseudo-Christ figure" girly. I simply do not care what John Milton said. He was wrong about everything else, anyway XD

I get annoyed when someone disparage Prometheus Bound as proof that Prometheus is self-righteous and deserved his punishment. Prometheus Bound isn't Aeschylus's work, so what? Greeks followed the tradition of sacrifice—burning animals, eating their meat, and leaving the white bones for the gods—because of Prometheus! That's the central theme we already know from Hesiod's Theogony.
I'm not saying Zeus is an unreasonable villain or I hate his disposition. To be honest, just because Zeus is wise enough to recognize the trick doesn't make him more moral. The idea that Zeus remains angry at Prometheus until Herakles frees him is also hilarious to me.
