It started with a simple bento box.
Nezu had been working longer shifts at the hospital again—back-to-back surgeries, back-to-back nights. Sylus watched her come home with dark circles under her eyes, stethoscope still around her neck, and that familiar tired smile that told him she’d once again put everyone else first and herself last. She didn’t complain—she never did. But Sylus could see it. Her hands trembled slightly when she reached for the kettle. Her back ached when she finally sat down. And sometimes, in the quiet lull between late-night phone calls and 3 a.m. baby cries, she forgot to eat.
So Sylus, a man once feared by half the city, did what any good husband would do—he made her lunch.
It wasn’t fancy at first. Just white rice, grilled salmon, and some steamed vegetables packed neatly into a plain container. He scribbled a quick note on a sticky tab and tucked it inside:
Don’t forget to eat. Love you, always.
Nezu returned home that night with the sticky note folded carefully in her coat pocket. She kissed his jaw, murmured “best lunch I’ve had in weeks,” and fell asleep curled into his chest. Sylus lay awake a little longer, staring at the ceiling, thinking about how something so small could make her feel that much more cared for.
So the next day, he did it again.
And the next. And the next.
What began as a gesture of love slowly morphed into something Sylus found himself enjoying more than he expected. He started watching cooking videos at night when the house was quiet, learning the secrets to perfect tamagoyaki, how to roll onigiri without the rice sticking to his fingers, how to cut vegetables into little stars and flowers. He never said anything aloud—he had an image, after all—but he took pride in how Nezu’s eyes lit up when she opened her lunch. She’d text him photos from the break room, sleepy and smiling, sometimes with crumbs still on her lip.
“You’re spoiling me,” she’d say.
Sylus only smirked. “You deserve it.”
Then came the day Amelia caught him mid-meal prep, carving cucumber slices into heart shapes while humming under his breath. She had snuck in with her tablet and squealed, “Papa’s makin’ love lunch!” before recording a quick video.
He didn’t think anything of it.
Until the next morning, when Luke marched into the kitchen with a face full of alarm and an iPad in hand. “Dad,” he said, wide-eyed, “you’re viral.”
The video Amelia posted—shaky footage of Sylus tenderly packing a bento while telling their toddler not to eat the pickled plums—had amassed over a million views overnight. The comments were wild.
“WHO IS THIS SILVER FOX MAKING AESTHETIC BENTOS?” “I want to marry him just for lunch.” “Are we ignoring the fact he looks like he leads a gang and also cuts strawberries into roses???”
Sylus stared at the screen for a long time. “I didn’t agree to this.”
Nezu laughed so hard she almost cried. “Too late, Mr. Bento Boss.”
It became a running joke in the house. Amelia dubbed him “Papa Chef.” Kieran called him “Lunch Lord.” Even Nezu, exhausted and sleep-deprived, whispered it against his neck at night: “My Bento Boss.”
Reluctantly—very reluctantly—Sylus started uploading short videos himself. He never showed his face (at first), just his hands as he plated dishes or stirred sauces in a quiet kitchen. His aesthetic was calming, meticulous, and effortlessly cool. Soft jazz played in the background. His captions were practical. No frills, no hashtags. Just:
Lunch for my wife. She forgot to eat again.
His follower count exploded.
What followed was a slow, inevitable evolution. His meals grew more elaborate. Viewers begged for tutorials—how he marinated his meat, what soy sauce brand he used, how he made his egg rolls so fluffy. And while he never said much in the videos, the occasional glimpse of chaos—Amelia’s head popping into frame, Nezu sneaking a bite while still in her scrubs—only made fans more obsessed.
Eventually, he added another series to his content: “Lunches for My Goblins.”
Because if Nezu deserved lovingly packed bento boxes, then so did the kids.
Sundays became “meal prep day” in the house, and chaos reigned supreme. Sylus would stand at the kitchen island, hair tied back, sleeves rolled up, five lunchboxes lined in a neat row. Each one tailored to the little monster it belonged to.
Luke and Kieran insisted on protein-packed meals—“We’re growing boys, Dad!”—so their boxes were stuffed with grilled teriyaki chicken, vegetable stir-fry, and boiled eggs shaped like Pokéballs (because Kieran refused to eat anything "boring"). Sylus didn’t argue. He just bought special molds.
Amelia was the most demanding. If her food wasn’t shaped like animals or stars or sparkly fairies, she would protest by dramatically declaring a hunger strike. Her bento boxes were always colorful—purple sweet potatoes, pink onigiri with cat faces, tiny jellies with flower lids. She gave his videos their signature charm with her high-pitched commentary in the background.
Daniel, the easiest of the bunch, would eat just about anything so long as he knew Sylus made it. One time, his teacher tried to trade him a chocolate bar for a piece of Sylus’s dumplings. Daniel cried and clutched his bento to his chest like a sacred relic. From that point on, Sylus started writing little notes on Daniel’s banana peels—smiley faces, “Papa loves you,” or “You’re braver than a lion.”
And then there was baby Shu, who didn’t need lunchboxes yet, but always clapped from her high chair during cooking time. Sylus started packing her mini-meals too, blending soft veggies and cutting fruit into gentle cubes she could mash with her gums. Her containers were shaped like bears. Nezu labeled them with animal stickers.
The Bento Boss channel turned from a quiet food account into a full-blown family phenomenon. Fans commented like they were part of the family.
“Amelia’s chaos is unmatched.” “Kieran with the protein power strikes again.” “Sylus: Knife skills of a criminal. Heart of a golden retriever dad.”
When Sylus finally gave in and showed his face during a livestream Q&A, the internet lost its mind.
“Hello,” he said simply, holding up a rice panda. “This is for my daughter. She threatened me.”
He deadpanned every answer, unfazed by thirst comments, questions about parenting, or how he managed to stay so calm while three of his children screamed in the background. Nezu popped into the frame halfway through, kissed his cheek, and walked off with a dumpling. The chat exploded.
Now, every week, without fail, Sylus posts:
A “Meal Packs for My Queen” episode for Nezu’s lunch
A “Goblins Eat Good” segment showing all five kids’ bentos
A calming late-night cooking session titled “Midnight with the Bento Boss,” for his insomnia and his fans’
And every week, the views grow. The comments overflow. Some people come for the food, others for the chaos. But most come for the love—the unmistakable way Sylus pours himself into every detail, every note, every lovingly packed box.
He still leaves Nezu messages in her lunch.
For my favorite doctor. Save lives. Don’t skip meals. Miss you already. The kids started a flour war. I may not survive. Your coffee’s in the thermos. You’re everything to me.
And when she gets home—bone-tired, hair messy, but smiling—he’s there in the kitchen, apron still on, arms open.
Because he was never just making lunch.
He was always building a home.
Soft domestic sylus i love you so much hes such a good dad happy late father's day to sylus

I just wanted to congratulate you on doing something I wish I knew how to do better, and that thing is to make characters have a slow burn on a long term basis. I love how you can tell that Skwisgaar is in love but not saying it and I love how Pickles never told Cherry his feelings but that he never really had to. You are a great writer and it's a releif to know there is more comic coming after this. Keep up the good work!
Gosh, thanks, man. That is high praise. There will be much more for me to write on this subject at a later date, but until then, I also got this ask, which can also be tied into an answer I can give for the time being...

So first-ish... yes. Will be doing more tutorials and that includes the metaphor/theme tutorial I have wanted to do for a while. Tricky business, those, so I wanna be able to devote a few hours to writing it instead of throwing together a quick response in an ask. Been a busy time for me, and just getting the 'komics out have pushed me to my limits for a while -- Thanks for understanding. :)
Second-ish... Writing all of these things successfully comes down to one factor, I think -- and that's leaving space.
If you're a writer, then you've no doubt heard the term "show, don't tell", and the whole concept of leaving space in a work of fiction is kinda the same thing, but in reverse. In this case, you're actively choosing not to show something, in order for the audience to put the pieces together for themselves. It looks like this:

Writers often think it's their duty to spell out every single detail of what's happening, or what has happened in a story. They worry that, in the name of pacing, they're not going to have time for everything. But pacing is a more nuanced thing - it's not about having time for every single thing as much as it is giving the important things the correct amount of time. This includes leaving out things which are unimportant enough that they can be inferred or assumed to have happened by the reader. This includes things that the reader is going to get a bigger jolt out of reading between the lines than they ever would if it was explicitly laid out for them.
Metaphors work in such ways, as do themes. Sometimes you don't even recognize them until your second or third read-through, but if they're there, a reader *will* go back to see if they carried further than they think they did.
I think interpersonal relationships between characters work really well when they're carried out over long periods of time for the same reason. If there's even a little bit of a spark, then the reader is going to go back and look at all the ways two people might have found that connection. Sometimes you don't even notice it happening, but I do drop little breadcrumbs that imply things more than they outright say them (go back and re-read the first Dethkomic series to see what I mean - there are too many to list, here).
And then, when it comes to characters, what you left out is just as important as what you write. Pickles doesn't have to say he loves Cherry - he does enough of that by following her into the kthulu-ocean. And the longer he doesn't say it, the more intriguing whatever it is they have, becomes.
Will-they-won't-they romances die by labels, I guess. Don't be afraid of ambiguity when it comes to the affection your characters show to other characters. Especially if you're going to go for a slow-burn. Especially, especially if what two people have falls outside the realm of romance.
Just have fun. :)
As promised - More on all this, later! But thank you both for the great questions and remember... Dethkomic loves you!

I ramble for too long about my art (The post)
(Drawings here)
Thanks again to Nunki and Nov so much for pulling me out of art block 😭💕 I had so much fun drawing all of this and experimenting with poses and colors, etc. that I wouldn't have tried before this!! i'm so sorry this took like 2 months to finish there was lots of stuff going on but I finally finished it and i'm very happy how it all turned out. I made this post just to go through my thought process LMAO
DAY 1: Early SMP Days
This one was inspired by the "he asked for no pickles" meme and how in an early dsmp stream c!dream (in full enchanted netherite armor) asks c!george (half iron/diamond armor) to protect him with a crossbow while they go to l'manburg
At first this one was gonna be a quick drawing but then i got too invested into drawing the armor that it got out of hand and suddenly i had spent 2 days on that 💀
Also all the other drawings were gonna be like this one, a bit simple than what i usually do, but i got too invested x2 and ended up rendering(?) more the rest of drawings
C!dream is c!george's baby, like the cc's dynamic 👍
DAY 2: Objects of Affection
THE SHIELD DEMONS GOT ME 👹👹👹👹 also c!gnf keeps the mask even though it's a bit broken :3
C!gnf is a bit dirty because he doesn't shower, also he sleeps on the grass sometimes, he doesn't get sunburnt because XD protects him from that, also c!sapnap is the one that finds him like that and brings him back to kinoko
I think this is the drawing with most layers only because it was for setting the lighting
This one set the bar of how many details can i put on the next drawings haha got too silly and flew too close to the sun
DAY 3: Worship/Devotion
Inspired by religious imagery in renaissance paintings, they're very pretty and detailed and ohgggg i thought that aesthetic fit XDNF's dynamic ^_^
When I finished the drawing i added a canvas texture so it looked like the mentioned paintings' texture
The pose was so complicated but thankfully i hid all the weird anatomy under capes and hair(?) 🤭 and I have a mirror right next to my computer so i used myself as reference for the hands
The halo around c!gnf's head could be a reference to the headcanon of georgeeeHD existing and being another dsmp deity or also hinting at george's "destroying the smp" stream and how powerful and crazy insane he is!!! also the reflection of XD's halos on his eyes, they worship each other i think, xdnf makes my tummy hurt /pos
DAY 4: Visions/Dreams
Inspired by my weirdcore demons :3 i love that aesthetic so much
I did the error pop up on this custom generator!!
Saved a lot of time by making c!dream faceless since it would be covered by the pop up anyway, but it can also be symbolism for c!gnf not remembering his face or something crazy
I again used myself as reference for the hands i'm so cool and epic
Also I used a tutorial on how to make the vhs effect/chromatic aberration on paint tool sai and added grainy texture on the background for more spice :3
DAY 5: Reunion/Post-Nuke
I reused an old sketch of c!dnf side profile for this one, hashtag work smart not hard 😎 except i polished it and changed some stuff and now it looks way better than the old version
The concept was happy reunion, they're happy to see each other!! c!dnf good ending, i say in tears.
c!gnf touching the c!dritties :3 jk he's feeling his heartbeat, he can't believe he's real!!!
I had so much fun drawing the blood on the bandages and c!dream's scars, please zoom and admire them, it took so long,,,,
DAY 6: Roleswap
My demons..... my beloved rs au..... the posts i made some while ago were based on this drawing, i have a tag on my blog now for that au
RS!dnf wear matching chains!! also the concept for this drawing was that someone interrupted their make out session :3
Symbolism moment!! I like to draw characters with nail polish of the color it represents them, in this case green for dream and blue for george, but for this au, their colors are swapped: green for george and blue for dream, it symbolizes how their roles (king/knight) on that story are different and don't match with the canon. storywise, they're so in love they wanted to keep each other on themselves somehow so they exchanged nail polish colors
DAY 7: CC Roleplay/Cosplay
Sisyphus would be proud of me (<- almost gave up before drawing this), unironically i got demotivated when i finished day 6 so i took a break and then i went insane with this one
The concept was c!dnfies wearing cc!dnf outfits, dream specifically has so many outfit options but I ended up choosing the famous "dteam in madrid" outfit plus a cat beanie, and I couldn't find a fortnite jesus poster for george's shirt so i just found a silly cat pic and yeah ^_^
Thank you random twt user for the idea 👍
And that's it! I probably forgot to say some stuff more but i started to get anxious this post would be too long. Again thank you so much guys for being supportive over the wips i showed you and also being insane about c!dnf too 😭 <3

The Magic of Handmade: Getting Started with DIY
Welcome, future crafting wizard! Whether you’ve been eyeing Pinterest boards with longing or just want to stop spending money on overpriced decor, you’re in the right place. Today marks the beginning of a journey where hot glue is your sword, scissors are your shield, and glitter is... well, your glitter. Let’s dive into the basics of DIY crafting and get your hands moving.
What is DIY Crafting Anyway?
DIY stands for “Do It Yourself.” It’s not just a Pinterest trend—it’s a lifestyle. Crafting by hand taps into your creativity, saves you money, and, if done right, might even result in a few compliments (and who doesn't want that?).
DIY crafts can include:
Home decor (like those rustic mason jar lights)
Upcycled fashion (think: t-shirt into tote bag)
Personalized gifts (like hand-painted mugs)
Paper crafts (cards, scrapbooks, origami)
Seasonal crafts (Halloween pumpkins, anyone?)
And so much more, from woodworking to candle making!
But first, let’s talk tools.
Essential Tools for Beginners
Before we get all Picasso with popsicle sticks, here’s a starter kit to gather:
Scissors – Your everyday paper cutters won’t cut it forever (pun intended). Invest in a good pair!
Glue Gun + Sticks – The holy grail of crafting. Caution: it’s hot, literally.
Craft Knife / X-Acto Knife – For precision work like paper cutting or stenciling.
Ruler & Cutting Mat – Clean edges are a vibe.
Paints & Brushes – Acrylics are a solid start. They're forgiving and come in a rainbow of options.
Markers, Pens & Pencils – You’ll need these more than you think.
Assorted Paper & Cardstock – Start with neutrals and primaries.
Tape (washi, masking, double-sided) – You’ll develop an emotional bond with double-sided tape.
These are your paintbrushes if you’re Da Vinci. The good news? You can build your collection gradually—just like your skills.
Project #1: The 10-Minute Gratitude Jar
Let’s start with a fun, beginner-friendly craft that needs no prior experience: the Gratitude Jar. It’s simple, personal, and a great way to use up bits and pieces from around your home.
Materials Needed:
An empty jar (pickle jar, mason jar, etc.)
Decorative paper or old magazine cutouts
Ribbon or twine
Marker or pen
Paper strips (plain or colored)
Glue or tape
Instructions:
Clean and dry the jar. Nobody wants a lingering pickle smell when listing their blessings.
Decorate the outside. Wrap with paper, tie a ribbon, draw designs—make it yours!
Cut paper into strips. These will be for writing down moments of gratitude.
Write 3 things you're grateful for today and drop them in.
Place the jar somewhere visible. Revisit it when you need a mood lift!
Boom. You’ve officially made your first craft. Look at you go!
Crafting Mindset: Embrace the Mess
Here’s the thing: perfection is for robots and YouTube tutorials. When you DIY, the process is the real masterpiece. Sometimes your glue will smudge. Sometimes your paint will smudge. And occasionally, your pet will walk across your drying project. That’s part of the charm!
Quick Tips:
Start small. Don’t jump into making a cardboard castle on Day One.
Watch tutorials (with a grain of salt—some make it look way too easy).
Don’t compare your Day 1 to someone else’s Day 1000.
Celebrate every project—especially the wonky ones.
Cool Crafting Fact of the Day:
The world’s oldest known piece of string is over 50,000 years old! It was discovered in a French cave and likely made by Neanderthals, proving that humans (and near-humans) have been into DIY for a long time—before it was cool.
So basically, by starting DIY crafts, you’re joining a lineage that predates modern civilization. Fancy that.

Hey, I just came across your blog, and I’m interested in trying to tan some hides myself. I do a little hunting, just rabbits and the occasional fox, and want to use as much of the animal as I can. I’ve looked into different methods and dabbled a little, but was wondering if you could briefly give some advice, or recommend a book or something? Thanks!
(Also, sorry if you’ve already answered this a million times)
Vulture Culture 101 by Lupa is a great book for anyone starting out with processing animal remains! i wrote the tanning tutorial in the book, though there are tons more nuances i wish i could've included but that would've been a whole book in itself lol. you can fill all those gaps, as well as find more resources, by browsing my info tag.
my biggest tip for folks starting is to use a high quality, full synthetic tan such as rittels or trubond. it seems intimidating compared to other methods due to all the steps involved but it's actually far more forgiving than popular methods beginners tend to gravitate towards like "egg tan" or "brain tan", which seems super simple but can go wrong very very easily (even the terms alone may lead you astray, since eggs nor brains actually tan the hide, it's the smoking step afterward that tans it but many end up skipping that part). any 'quick and easy' methods that claim to do the pickling and tanning all in one solution, such as krowtann, may work great for preserving the skin for taxidermy but they are arguably not true tans (as in it won't actually alter the structure of the skin into leather) and you won't get the same quality leather as with a complete full-process synthetic tan. all those steps have a purpose and exist for a reason!

A list of things about Boris Habit:
(SPOILERS AHEAD!)
(Edited to include some corrections from you guys! Thank you for helping me out!)
▪ He (at least partially) went to college for dentistry - enough to successfully perform multiple operations. It’s safe to assume he’s very intelligent.
• In his tweets, he complains about his fingers being “too sharp”, suggesting that his spelling atrocities are mostly because he’s having trouble typing - not that he can’t spell. Further examples are the diary and the PSA’s; in the diary pages (writing) his spelling is nearly perfect, and in the PSAs (typing) you get way more misspellings.
• On that note: He can speak English almost perfectly! Typing errors aside, in any of the endings, he sobers up real quick - and when he gets serious, the misspellings just stop. I’ve seen a lot of people writing his dialogue like he types, but according to the game, he can speak just fine.
• If anything, the misspellings pop up in his dialogue when he’s psychotic - perhaps he’s baby talking you? No proof on that one, just speculation.
Edit: I’ve been informed that “manic” is the more appropriate term for how he acted in the boss fight. Sorry for the confusion!
• His cheerfulness isn’t completely an act - the game suggests that he was a really cheerful kid up until he snapped (as an indirect result of his father’s abuse, no less), and in the good ending (after you agree to be his friend) he gets some of that same peppiness back. Even Kamal agrees he’s just a big softy... under the poorly managed trauma, at least.
• HE UNDERSTANDS, AT THE END, THAT WHAT HE’S DONE IS WRONG. He’s not all flowers and sunshine about it, either - in the bad ending he realizes he’s become the villain, and not only accepts his death but smiles at you as if to encourage your actions. In the neutral ending he actively says that hurting you would be “wrong of [him]”, and in the good ending, if you agree to be his friend, he somewhat disbelievingly says “a real friend… after everything i’ve done to you…”
• Related to the last one: His amazement at your friendship, combined with the bullying documented in the diary, suggests that he’s never had many friends. In the last PSA, you see a picture of Kamal labeled “friend :-)”, suggesting they either used to be close or that Habit got attached. (I don’t think Kamal really hates him, but with how mad he got at him for so long, I’m not sure how close they actually were).
• In the good ending, it’s suggested that Boris left the Habitat and became a florist! At the very end of the credits, no less - you see Habit surrounded by plants, grinning ear to ear, holding a lil flower pot in his hands. If not a florist, then he’s at least getting to work with plants! (Good on him!!)
• On that note: in the bad ending, you see the same shot at the end of the credits, but with Boris just missing. You know, because you killed him. The game pretty heavily goes against that ending and repeatedly tells you that there’s another way.
• His favorite color is orange, according to his tweets! That’s not a ground breaker, it’s just cute.
• He’s canonically 37, but his knowledge of the internet seems to be... mixed. On one hand, he knows enough to program his own website - and on the other, in the good ending he asks you to email him. (I don’t know a soul who uses email anymore.) BUT he does tweet! So maybe at the time of the ending he just doesn’t have a phone. We have no way to know.
Edit: Several people have informed me that the game takes place in the 90′s, which would explain why he uses email! Considering his tweets are (apparently?) canon and take place before Flower Kid, the timeline may be more or less ambiguous - but as far as I know it’s canonically in the 90′s.
• The Habitat is canonically in the USA, according to his twitter. Considering the developers said he has a Russian accent, perhaps his parents are immigrants. Again - no way to know for sure.
• In the tutorial, the pre-ending, and Boris’ photograph (if you take one), he appears as nothing but a red-eyed shadow that quite frankly looks demonic. In the game, the camera is used to show people's true selves (most dominantly with Trencil, where taking his photo reveals him as a vampire). Considering vampires exist in this universe, we can take Boris’ photo and assume he’s… at least not fully human. Exactly what he is, however, we don’t know.
• Boris created the Carlas, and it’s suggested that he cares for them. Each of them refer to him as “dad” or “father”, expressing concern for his mental wellbeing and even recognizing his diary pages. (In fact, you get one of the diary pages from a Carla, who says Boris stored it inside her!) The fortune telling Carla even recognizes the Tooth Lily and understands how rare it is - knowledge that, according to Habit, only he knows.
• Randy says that Habit smells like “loose change”, suggesting that the metallic smell of laughing gas clings to him. Apparently he and Habit butt heads - Habit told him he couldn’t smell like pickles, and in his tweets he calls Randy “smelly”. In the same tweet he also admits to crying because Randy told him he smelled like loose change, so maybe he’s just holding a grudge.
• Habit doesn’t seem to be very tactful. He manages to tick off a few of the Habiticians, most prominently Kamal, who Habit says has “sepia toned teeth”. If you ask the Habiticians in question, they’ll suggest that he’s plain rude - but considering his character, it’s more likely that he’s just unintentionally blunt.
• Habit is trusting, even before the good ending. This is mostly displayed by his tweets. He clicks an ad for free lasagna and gets a computer virus, buys a fake set of X-Ray glasses from Gerry (and wears them all day despite not being able to see!), someone stole quiches (presumably from his office) without him noticing, and in another tweet he said he ate an apple pie that tasted like rat poison! He expresses concern about the poison, but the way he wrote it suggests he ate the whole pie! He trusts people nearly to the point of naivety, despite the broken philosophy in his boss battle.
• It’s very heavily suggested that Habit is hurting for attention and interaction. In the good ending, despite knowing he’s just hurt you, he’s desperate enough to ask to be your friend (and not only surprised, but ecstatic if you say yes). In the same ending, kissing him is enough to completely snap him out of his breakdown and sober him up - right after flustering him immensely, of course. In one of his tweets, too, he accidentally admits that sometimes he wants kisses. Considering his childhood, it’s more than likely he’s really touch starved.
• It’s really easy to make him cry. Several of the Habiticians mention him crying, and Habit even mentions crying in some of his tweets. On the other hand, he gets excited really easy, too. Basically, it seems he’s prone to feeling any emotion really strongly.
• Habit canonically loves to draw and is good at it. In-game, he illustrates himself all over the walls of the Habitat. Usually they’re peppy, fun, somewhat childish drawings, but once you get to his office and the areas near it, you start to see some... really disturbing illustrations.
• Finally, my favorite: his hair. Aside from the obvious fact that it’s really long, in one of his tweets he’s distressed because he’s “drowning in it”. There’s no conclusions to be drawn here except that his hair’s awesome.
#smile for me#boris habit#long post#idk i just wanted to write down a bunch of things about him#mostly it's for my own use so i can characterize him better#but i thought people might like it too :-)

While everyone else is buying sliced bread and hamburger, consider alterniatives.
Buy flour, yeast, vinegar, salt, sugar. Things that can be pickled. You can pickle almost any vegetable. You can can almost any fruit. Invest in mason jars. Get spices. Get a bag of rice. Get oats. Get thin sliced meat or meat that can be sliced thinly for preserved meat. So on.
If you want, I can post swift and easy recipes for staple items, tutorials on how to pickle or can. Leave a request in the comments. If you have your own quick and easy recipe, post it on your site and put the link in the notes.

In My Food Story, our days are often packed. Whether it is our Seswan Fried Rice made with leftover rice or the instant dal fry to go with the rotis, we are always looking for exciting but Quick and Easy Dinner-to-serve lunches. Here is a great choice that we all love - Paneer Kathi Rolls!
These paneer saddle rolls or paneer frankies won't eat in your work hours, so go ahead and schedule a meeting that afternoon. You can prepare the components in the morning and keep it together when you are ready to eat. Also they are very easy to make! Filling is Quick Dinner Ideas and the roll takes less than 5 minutes to assemble.
Chinese Chili Cheese Filling
Filling the paneer for this saddle roll is very simple. I'm talking ready in 15 minutes Quick Dinner Recipes. Need more reassurance? This filling has all the exemplary Indo Chinese fixings - minced ginger and garlic, green chillies, onions and capsicum, soy sauce and vinegar, and obviously - cheddar. We have used the pan to fry the ingredients together. The vegetables are crunchy, the stuffing is spicy and spicy, and the cheese is soft and takes on all those flavors. For good flavor, make this stir-fry in a pan.
Flaky parathas
As it is a functioning lunch, I normally prefer to purchase frozen Malabar parathas, heat them on a container with spread and use them for these rolls. You can also make simple roti for rolls which is a more Quick Healthy Meals, Quick Healthy Dinner option. The softer the loaves are, the better. But I always choose Malabar parathas over anything. Those firm layers function admirably with the paneer filling and give these rolls a true Calcutta style saddle move feel!
Crispy Noodles Topping
In the true spirit of Indo Chinese grub, we put crispy noodles inside the rolls for that crunch factor. We used cooked noodles and fry them lightly in oil. The noodles should turn nice golden brown - be careful not to burn them! The noodles will crisp well and add texture to the rolls Quick Meals. You can watch the video to perceive how it is finished.
If you are making a big batch then I also have a tutorial for making your own crunchy fried noodles at home
Saddle roll assembling
When you have every one of the components prepared, you can collect the move in 5 simple advances:
1. Put baked roti / Malabar paratha on your workstation Add
2. 2 tablespoons of pickled onions and spread it well
3. Then add 2 servings of paneer filling
4. Sprinkle crispy noodles over filling
5. Start from one side and press the filling inside the roti while rolling towards the other end. Cut it into 2 or 3 pieces - easy to eat!
You can also add some spicy ketchup or hot and sweet chutney over the filling for extra heat. And all! No more hunger during work days!
Serve the rolls with tomato ketchup or chili sauce, and wash them off completely with a glass of juice! This is one of the easiest to serve lunches to prepare on a busy day, and if you have some cheese left, you can eat it later as breakfast! Have more ideas for working at lunch? Let me know in the comments below!

【未定事件簿】 Tears of Themis: 【夏彦拜访剧情】 Xia Yan’s Personal Story 1-7 Translation

Translated parts: Xia Yan’s Visit Chapter 1: 1-1 / 1-3 / 1-4 / 1-6 / 1-7 / 1-9 / 1-10 / 1-11 / 1-12 / 1-13 Translation Masterlist: here
Video: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1fA411J7cW?p=5
A quick explanation of how this feature works is that each boy has their own section that you can “Visit”! Part of it is like MLQC’s GSH feature, where you can talk to the boys (with Live2D!) and raise intimacy by interacting with them. The other part of it is a storyline that centers on the MC running around with the respective boy to deal with a certain case or situation.
MC: So heavy. It’s been so long since I’ve lifted something this heavy.
After deciding on what dish to make, Xia Yan and I headed straight to the supermarket.
Usually at home, I only do some simple baking from time to time. The kitchenware and ingredients at home were all inadequate, so in the end, the amount of purchases we made was a little shocking.
MC: Thinking of how I was in the beginning… forget it, a hero doesn’t bring up their bravery of the past. When they head to work in the morning, they leave their military achievements behind…
Xia Yan: Are your arms sore? Do you have any ointments at home? I’ll help you rub it on.
MC: I’m alright. But what about you? You took so many things up here – are you tired?
Steaming pot, seasoning, different kinds of kitchen knives, et cetera – a large portion of these things had been taken up by Xia Yan.
His temples had a thin layer of sweat. I hurriedly handed him a towel.
MC: Wipe your sweat quick. We’ll rest a bit and then get to work.
MC: Right, Xia Yan, when did you learn to make food? I remember that when we were little, you never went in the kitchen.
Xia Yan: I was living on my own – of course I had to learn to take care of myself.
MC: Then tell me, what specialty dishes do you have?
Xia Yan: Braised beef, mushroom-stewed chicken, pickled vegetables, tomato brisket…
MC: …
MC: Was there also sweet and spicy pork, and shrimp and fish noodles?
Xia Yan: Heh, you guessed it.
Looking at the kitchen piled high with big and little packages, despair sprung up involuntarily at the bottom of my heart.
MC: I’m regretting it, for real. We shouldn’t have chosen crab-stuffed oranges. How about we change to another dish…
--
[Flashback]
Xia Yan: The hardest taste for me to forget… should be compressed high-protein biscuits…
MC: What’s that? Does it taste good?
Xia Yan: It… it’s a kind of physical fitness-boosting food…
Xia Yan: Ugh, those things are super disgusting, with a texture like wall dust, so it left a deep impression on me.
MC: Then… do we have to make compressed high-protein biscuits…
Xia Yan: The riddle was sent to your phone, so it should be based on your taste. Think about it – what’s the hardest taste for you to forget?
MC: For me… ah, I got it! It’s crab-stuffed oranges!
Xia Yan: Crab-stuffed oranges? Never heard of it.
MC: It’s a dish I once ate at a business reception! It’s crab meat and crab roe placed in oranges – super unique!
MC: In one bite, there’s the clear sweetness of oranges as well as the deliciousness of crabs. It really is hard to forget, even if you try!
MC: It’s a pity that at the time, I was focused on work – didn’t even eat two bites before setting it down.
Xia Yan: Is it really that good? Then look quick in this cookbook and see if there’s a recipe for crab-stuffed oranges.
I opened the cookbook and looked through the table of contents. Unsurprisingly, I saw the crab-stuffed oranges!
MC: It’s here! So it was a famous dish.
Xia Yan: That’s good, we’ll make this dish. Let’s go to the supermarket and buy ingredients now!
[Flashback end]
--
MC: Making crab-stuffed oranges is a completely impossible task…
Xia Yan: How could it be impossible? With the intelligence and wisdom between the two of us, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.
Xia Yan: We bought so many oranges and crabs – either way, we can try a bunch of times. And no matter what, we can’t admit defeat to Sphinx!
MC: You’re right! How would we know if we don’t try!
MC: Let me see the cookbook… the first step: steam the crabs!
Xia Yan responded, taking the newly-bought large steam pot and washing it clean. And then the problems came…
MC: Have you steamed crabs… ah, no, or have you used a steam pot before?
Xia Yan: Obviously… not…
Xia Yan found that cookbook we bought. It was a pity that there weren’t instructions on how to steam crabs in it…
Xia Yan: There are video tutorials online. Looks like we just need to throw the crabs in the steam pot and turn on the heat.
MC: Why is it that I remember that when steaming crabs, you need to put water in the steam pot? Does the tutorial say how much water to put?
Xia Yan: It says – an appropriate amount…
MC: …
A little bit, an appropriate amount – this is simply the most annoying vocabulary in cookbooks and cooking tutorials…
MC: How about you decide on how much to put in; I trust your detective’s instinct.
After deciding on the water amount problem, to avoid contaminating the crab’s fresh taste, Xia Yan and I listened to the video tutorial’s suggestions and decided to cut off the rubber bands tying up the crabs.
This decision would let Xia Yan and I regret it for at least a week.
MC: Ahhhhhh – it’s going to pinch me!
Xia Yan: Quick! Throw it in the pot!
MC: Press down on the pot lid – there’s one climbing out!
Xia Yan: If I keep pressing on the lid, where do you put the crab you’ve finished cutting!
The unshackled crabs tyrannized my house. Some were strolling on the counter, some were sightseeing on the wall, and still more had clutched onto each other, fighting.
As long as the hand that Xia Yan was using to press on the pot lid relaxed slightly, they would escape through the gap. I couldn’t help but suspect that crabs were also liquid-body animals!
MC: Be careful of the left side! The crab’s about to push the knife on the ground!
Xia Yan: Right side, right side! That one’s climbed over there – your hair!
MC: Ahhhhhhhhh-
And so we passed this whole morning in this busy, messy way. Heavens knows how we sent those extremely energetic crabs to reincarnation.
When we placed the crabmeat into the oranges and put them into the pot to steam, my house’s kitchen was already such a mess that it looked like a typhoon had swept through the area.

Tag Game: Dig a Little Deeper
Thank you for the tag, @theproblemwithstardust! These are always fun to think through!
1. do you prefer writing with a black pen or a blue pen? Blue
2. would you prefer to live in the country or in the city? Depends on the city - I was very happy in Edinburgh, but wouldn’t be able to live in New York, I think, at least not for long. In general, the happy middle is ideal - big enough to get most of the advantages of a city (big shops with long opening hours, good travel connections, some cultural options), but small enough and close enough to the country side to have a garden and a short way into a forest
3. if you could learn a new skill, what would it be? I think I’d like to be better at handy man type things, and just feel more confident to try them out? Other than that there are so many instruments I’d love to learn!
4. do you drink your tea/coffee with sugar? I very, very rarely drink coffee, and if I do I’ll often add some sugar. But I drink tea every day and take no sugar there.
5. what was your favorite book as a child? An old book of my grandma’s, from when she was a child, which I used to read every single time we visited! It was about four sisters and their coming of age and I just loved it! I really need to reread it. Other than that our fairy tale books (good old German bloody versions, no disney sugar in this household!), and Max Kruse’s Urmel series!
6. do you prefer baths or showers? Showers for sure! I pretty much only take a bath in winter and then I’ll usually take a quick shower afterwards to wash my hair, because washing my hair in the bath is a pain that will lead to flooding.
7. if you could be a mythical creature, which one would you be? A DRAGON!!!!! If that’s for some reason not an option, then a selkie!
8. paper or electronic books? Paper books and electronic fics - though I’ve seen some book binding tutorials making the rounds and I’m very tempted now to print out my favourites and bind them prettily!
9. what is your favorite item of clothing? Gosh, I don’t even know? Probably a dress, but I wouldn’t be able to choose between them...
10. do you like your name? would you like to change it? I like it and wouldn’t want to change it! It’s relatively rare here (though not world wide, so not some strange invention from my parents), but not to the point of being incomprehensible (usually - there have been some interesting spellings, especially from English speaking people) and I think it fits me!
11. who is a mentor to you? My mum? But she’s my mum, so does she really count as a mentor? Singing wise perhaps my conductor, but she’s also a pain, so there’s that? I can’t really think of someone I’d truly call my mentor!
12. would you like to be famous? if so, what for? To do Dancing with the Stars! (Or Strictly, or Let’s dance, wherever they’ll take me!) No seriously, I’d love to do one of the dance shows, and that’s the only reason I’d like to be famous. I’d like to be reasonably rich of course, to be financially secure enough to be able to easily help family and friends and causes close to my heart (and buy and uphold a Scottish castle), but you don’t necessarily need to be famous for that. But just being famous for famous-sake? To be recognised wherever you go? No thanks. That sounds absolutely horrible.
13. are you a restless sleeper? That’s a pretty resounding yes unfortunately.
14. Do you consider yourself to be a romantic person? Oh god, I don’t even know. Do I enjoy romance? In fic yes, in books and films often not, in realy life excessive PDA creeps me out and honestly, my threshold for that is super low, so excessive probably means more like ‘any PDA. As for whether I’m personally romantic? I’ve never been a romantic relationship and I’m not sure I even want to be!
15. which element best represents you? Earth perhaps? I’m not really sure what the elements even represent, though, so who knows! Probably not fire, though :p
16. who do you want to be closer to? I’m good actually, I think!
17. do you miss someone at the moment? Not in a particular ‘I miss you right now and won’t miss you in an hour’ way. I always miss my dad and grandpa, but that’s a different kind of missing, I think.
18. tell us about an early childhood memory. I remember the blinds and doors of the holiday home we stayed in when I was ... four? five? And the path to the beach!
19. what is the strangest thing you have eaten? I’m not the most adventurous eater admittedly, but as far as ‘I’ll never eat it again’, I took a bite out of a pickled egg once and it was properly disgusting!
20. what are you most thankful for? My family and my living circumstances (is that a word? term? It sounds weird)
21. do you like spicy food? Not reallyyyyyy - some spice is okay, and some spiciness is worse than others, but in general I’m a total wuss.
22. have you ever met someone famous? I said good morning to David Tennant, but I’m not sure I’d call that “having met him”.
23. do you keep a diary or journal? Nope! I’ve started one a couple of times, but never made it beyond three days or so!
24. do you prefer to use pen or pencil? Generally a pen, but a pencil is fine, too!
25. what is your star sign? Leo
26. do you like your cereal crunchy or soggy? Crunchy! (though I haven’t had actual cereal in ages)
27. what would you want your legacy to be? Positive, if I’m to have a legacy at all
28. do you like reading? What was the last book you read? Very much so! I last read Cornelia Funke’s Reckless series.
29. how do you show someone you love them? I try to tell them, and I try to make sure they know I’m here to listen or help or talk or whatever they need. I’m not sure I always succeed, though...
30. do you like ice in your drinks? No.
31. what are you afraid of? Not being good enough.
32. what is your favorite scent? My roses - individuals with a superb scent are The Lady of Shalott, Rose de Resht and Sweet Juliet, but there’s something really special about that first breath of rose air when Frühlingsduft (scent of spring), the first rose of the year blooms!
33. do you address older people by their name or surname? Surname! Unless they offer their first name and the ‘Du’, and even then I’ll probably try to avoid using either^^°
34. if money was not a factor, how would you live your life? I’d buy a Scottish castle and plant so many roses!
35. do you prefer swimming in pools or the ocean? Definitely pools, I’m always just a little afraid something is going to happen in natural water^^°
36. what would you do if you found $50 in the ground? I’d collect them (Unless I just saw who lost them) but try to put it towards something charitable (not 50, but one day I found two pounds on the ground, gave them to the homeless person with the kitty on Princes Street, found another pound, gave that to the one with the pupper and found another three, I think! That was a really nice day)
37. have you ever seen a shooting star? did you make a wish? Yes and yes!
38. what is one thing you would want to teach your children? To be kind? To themselves and others
39. if you had to have a tattoo, what would it be and where would you get it? A watercolour tattoo probably, perhaps of a dragon or fox, or a flower, and somewhere not always on display
40. what can you hear now? If I opened the window I’d probably hear at least some birds (some woke me up this morning with unholy yowling)
41. where do you feel the safest? At home.
42. what is one thing you want to overcome/conquer? My perfectionism that usually appears through some really strong procrastination. I also wish I was better at talking to people, especially people I don’t know or who are intimidating (which is everyone I don’t know and quite of those I know a little). I’ve mostly come to terms with my shyness, but that doesn’t make everything easy suddenly, unfortunately.
43. if you could travel back to any era, what would it be? There’s way too many! But for just one I’d love to see a Shakespeare play in the Globe when it was performed originally, ideally Twelfth Night or Hamlet! And I’d like to meet Queen Elizabeth I!
44. what is your most used emoji? 😘 probably or 😊
45. describe yourself using one word. overwhelmed (I am also hungry and tired right now, and that plays a big part in that - ask me again in an hour or so when I’ve eaten and the world will look a little more rose-y again^^°)
46. what do you regret the most? I can’t think of anything I truly regret - there are things I wish I’d done differently, but what’s done is done and I have to do the best with what I have now
47. last movie you saw? The Martian!
48. last tv show you watched? Die purpurnen Flüsse/Les rivières pourpres (the purple rivers), a French (German co production?) series based on the novel the Jean Reno film was based on!
49. invent a word and its meaning. This is hard because in German you can just compound away, so for every thing I think of, I’m like ‘but you could just put these three words together for the same effect!!!’ But this is English, so I’ll go with “pflundering” - the sound a bird makes when it takes a very enthusiastic bath!
This took quite a bit, and my brain is no longer able to come up with people to tag, so I’m tagging you, person who actually read through this! Do it (be honest, you already thought up most of your answers while reading it^^) and tag me, I’m curious!
#lessa says#lessa plays tag games#theproblemwithstardust#thank youuuuu#sometimes I wanted to just take your answer^^°
