To the anon asking about visiting Denmark, here's a perspective from the other side of the country!
Lots of people visit Copenhagen and do enjoy it, but frankly, it's a pretty standard European capital. If you are visiting Denmark, I would actually recommend checking out the east and west coast in Jutland (the Peninsula).
We do have a LOT of sea, and some rather interesting natural phenomena in relation to the sea. And while it's normal to Danes so we don't really consider it beautiful, a lot of foreigners I've talked to were really charmed by the Danish countryside with the hills and forests and crops and grazing animals etc. Because of the flat nature of the land, it looks fairly unique and you can see far.
So while I think Danes are somewhat blind to it (and also I've never taken Kat sightseeing in my area.. maybe I should!), I know that people actually travel far to see the countryside.
Another thing about it is that we have a lot of villages with really old, charming styles of houses and streets etc, that are unique to Danish architecture, as opposed to the older buildings in Copenhagen which can be found in many European capitals.
I know the areas around Rønne and the areas around Skagen, as well as the areas around Rømø, are especially popular destinations.
And best of all, the rude standoff-ish nature is mostly exhibited by the people in the capital, I'm not sure why, but as a countryside kid, I'm legit terrified of asking for directions in Copenhagen lol..
And there's honestly a ton of history and culture stuff here too, to explore.
So overall I've always felt that while Copenhagen is another European capital like many (and neither the biggest nor the most impressive), the real heart of any nation, is usually to be found in the countryside. And I don't think Denmark is any different.
But it also really depends on what you're looking for, and whether you have been to/are going to any other European capitals on your trip!
Yeah to be fair the subject of tourism isn't really my specialty, I'm better at talking about politics and infrastructure and culture and such. So thanks for stepping in!
