#R.I.P. Elec Man

two questions: 1) Has Protoman ever seen the film "Mamma Mia"? And if not... could someone please plonk him on the couch to watch it. I feel like despite it being a chick flick he'd probably (at the very least) enjoy to drama and soundtrack. 2) [to Megaman and Roll] How would you respond to Protoman and Elec dating? not that they are, but hey things can happen.

Proto Man: Haven't heard of it. I can't sit still long enough to watch tv or go to movies. Not enough action, and too busy flying jets and committing crime.

Roll: Those two complete assholes? Together? They deserve each other, and it'd be a total train wreck—but also oh heeelll no. Proto Man has spent too much time lecturing us on how to live our lives, there's no way I'd let him date that stuck-up jerk—or anyone—without my approval first. It's only fair!

Mega Man: I—well firstly, I'd be a little disappointed if Proto Man was seeing someone and hasn't told his family—even if we are used to his secrets by now. Secondly, while I'd be happy for Proto Man to have other relationships in his life, Elec Man doesn't seem very nice. Neither is Proto Man, so they can't possibly be a good influence on each other, and I wouldn't be happy about that.

Mega Man Recut, Season 3: Teleportation Tangles, Part 2

The first thing Quint did after he, Kalinka, Beat, and Punk had freed themselves from the Shadow Blades was call Dr. Cossack on his video communicator. Quint dreaded telling Dr. Cossack about what had happened, but to his amazement, Dr. Cossack was not upset.

"This is fantastic. Teleportation, what an incredible invention!" murmured Dr. Cossack, thoroughly impressed.

"…I'm not in trouble?" Quint asked anxiously. Punk had hidden himself in a far corner of the laboratory so that Dr. Cossack would not see him, and Kalinka had changed out of her Mega Girl armor as she stood next to Quint, Beat perched on her shoulder.

Dr. Cossack shook his head. "Of course not, there was not much you could have done. Shadow Man has an inconvenient talent of being a nuisance wherever he pleases. In fact, I think this is more my fault, I think I know what he wants."

It’s been awhile since my last fic update, so here’s a bonus scene of Proto Man and Elec Man escaping the Warship hunter at the end of Terror of the Seven Seas. 

Kinda random, I’ve had this idea for awhile and decided to complete it for fun, even though it doesn’t really add much to the story and I think the character progression/pacing works better without it but if you’ve read all of season 2 and want something sweet like this, here you go!

Terror of the Seven Seas bonus scene

Proto Man and Elec Man walked slowly out of the central control tower, Elec Man leaning heavily on Proto Man’s shoulder for support.

As alarms blared all around them, Proto Man felt a rush of energy, though his plasma reserves were depleted. He couldn’t help but feel renewed as they snuck around the Warship Hunter moments before it exploded. He had no doubt they would get away, and doing so in just the nick of time made it more thrilling.

But as they made their way through the Warship Hunter’s labyrinth of battleships, their progress down the steel plated corridors was slow, and Proto Man noticed Elec Man was trembling.

“Hey, uh…are you in pain?”

“No.”

“Good.”

“…My pain receptors are fried.”

“…Oh. Not so good.”

Elec Man needed rest, but they couldn’t afford to stop moving. The attack-bots had vanished and the entire fortress was in chaos as the the imprisoned ship crews reclaimed their ships. If Proto Man and Elec Man were spotted, their position could be reported to R.I.P., and they would be arrested. Elec Man was doing his best to keep up with Proto Man, but with each step his weight sunk into Proto Man a little more. Proto Man could sense his frustration building.

The Warship Hunter creaked and groaned as the trapped ships broke loose from the structures binding them. As the bottom floors began to flood, Proto Man steered Elec Man to a stairwell leading up to the ship yards. Though Proto Man climbed carefully, Elec Man’s feet stumbled and dragged against the mesh steps. 

“Proto Man…I’m extremely damaged. Wily won’t think I’m worth fixing,” Elec Man murmured. He did not sound nasally or haughty like he usually did—instead, he sounded completely ashamed.

“Don’t talk like that,” Proto Man responded automatically. “Of course you’re worth fixing. I’ll handle Wily, don’t even worry about it.”

A few tedious flights later (with Proto Man half dragging Elec Man), they reached the top of the stairs. They were about to enter open facility connecting to the shipyard when they heard pounding footsteps, forcing Proto Man to yank Elec Man behind a storage rack. 

Fortunately, the navy squad ran past without noticing them, but crouching behind the rack allowed little cover. Judging by the sound of footsteps thundering all around them, every occupant still inside the Warship Hunter was heading straight for the fleeing ships. Avoiding detection would be tricky.

“You need to leave me behind,” Elec Man muttered. “You could go faster if you weren’t helping me like this. At this speed, you will be seen.”

Proto Man hesitated, glad Elec Man had been first to point out the obvious. He looked around the facility, gauging the times between various crews hurrying towards the ships. “You know what? You’re right. Screw it.”

Elec Man tensed, confused. “What are you—?” he began as Proto Man slipped an arm under his knees and scooped him off the floor.

It was much easier to move carrying Elec Man, who was light, rather than acting as a robot crutch. Though Proto Man was low on energy, he could dart freely between hiding places, quickly crossing the facility without attracting attention.

“Comfy?” Proto Man asked after ducking into a maintenance compartment to avoid another group of sailors.

“Don’t say something like that at a time like this,” Elec Man spluttered.

“You were getting a little dark back there...just lightening the mood a little.”

Proto Man checked outside the compartment. The shipyard was just ahead. The few remaining ships were breaking loose from the Warship Hunter, opening chasms of swirling black ocean water between each hull. 

Proto Man paused, thinking.

“Gunna have to make some jumps over open water…you okay with that?”

Elec Man went rigid, but said with his eyes clenched shut, “Just don’t drop me.”

“Heh.”

Proto Man bounded from ship deck to ship deck. With each jump, Elec Man seemed to shrink into Proto Man, his grip tightening around Proto Man’s neck like a strangle hold.

“Sorry,” Elec Man mumbled in mortification when they landed on the stern of a gigantic freighter. His grip slackening slightly, but his fingers were still digging deeply into the folds of Proto Man’s scarf.

“Don’t worry about it,” Proto Man replied airily, trying not to wheeze.

Proto Man weaved between the brightly colored containers which were shifting slightly as the freighter shuddered forward toward the daylight outside the Warship Hunter.

“Alright, almost there,” Proto Man announced as they neared the front of the freighter. The grand flat-topped surface of an aircraft carrier drifted just ahead of the freighter’s prow, a span of about fifty feet between the two ships. 

Elec Man made a nearly inaudible sound of acknowledgment.

Proto Man looked down. Elec Man’s death grip had completely disappeared around his neck, his half-lidded eyes unfocused. 

“Just hold on a little longer,” Proto Man added softly. 

Proto Man made the last leap to the aircraft carrier—waves pounding against the hull below as it charged away into open water. He landed cleanly on the deck, the looming shadow of the Warship Hunter shrinking behind them. 

Though safe from the impending explosion, Proto Man scanned the deck cautiously. A lone jet sat at one end, poised for emergency takeoff, but left unattended as the rest of the crew was busy with the evacuation. Perfect, just as Proto Man had expected.

Proto Man rushed toward the jet, forced the cockpit door open, then eased Elec Man into the co-pilot seat. After buckling him up, Proto Man hopped into the cockpit. As he lowered the cockpit door again and began starting up the jet, he heard shouts from above deck. He had been spotted—but it was too late, with a piercing shriek, the jet shot down the short runway. The black tarmac gave way to turbulent waves as they became airborne, then Proto Man climbed into the sky.

Over the roar of the engine, he heard a thunder-like boom as the Warship Hunter exploded behind them. Proto Man looked back over his shoulder. Elec Man’s eyes were closed, his head lolling against the convex window.

“Just hang tight,” he murmured again, mostly to himself. “Wily will fix ya up, I promise,” he added, pointing the nose of the jet toward the clouds.

You can create a fantasy league of a group with only 12 Robot Masters only. Who would you pick between the Light Siblings and the entire set of Robot Masters between Wily’s, or R.I.P. Who can be your offensive units(like Mega, Proto, Pharaoh, or Elec Man), you powerhouse defensive tank units(like Guts, Stone, or Hard Man), your backup units(like Magnet, Cut, Gemini Man or even Roll), and long ranged units(like Napalm or Bomb Man) to be well-balanced. I’m curious who would you pick any of the 12?

Oooo this is fun but also sounds like a football question and I do not get football so I will pretend this is and RPG question instead:

Tank: Duo

Ranged DPS: Mega Man, Proto Man, Elec Man, Pharaoh Man

Melee DPS: Roll, Metal Man

Healer/Buff Class: Quint, Top Man (stretch maybe, but they could figure it out)

Episode 15: Terror of the Seven Seas, Part 4

I remember someone once asking how an amnesia plot with Mega or Roll would play out, and it's got me wondering what would happen if Proto lost all his memories. That could probably go a few ways, especially depending on where he is and who's around!

Ackk this is going to get long because that could go in a lot of directions!

General premise: weird shit is always happening to Mega Man and sometimes Roll, so it wouldn’t it be fun if the tables got turned against Proto Man (who actually deserves it) every now and then, right?

Thought of 7 ‘Proto Man amnesia Recut AU plot ideas’ depending on who his ‘primary’ interaction is with…

Plot Idea 1 — Mega Man finds him (funny)

I actually had loose plans to do something like this in Recut, though I don’t know if that will actually happen anymore (due to Master of Disaster Part 3)…but who knows so potential Recut spoilers if I do.

I don’t think it’s beneath Mega Man to take advantage of his brother’s amnesia and trick him into being one of the good guys. Sure, the truth might come out and Proto Man may eventually regain his memories, but in the meantime they can fight Dr. Wily together and Mega Man can show Proto Man (unbiased by memories of working with Dr. Wily) what being a good guy can be like.

If Proto Man truly forgets everything like how to fight and stuff, essentially becoming an amnesiac domestic robot with a blaster arm, then Mega Man would probably take him back to Dr. Light’s lab to try to bond over everyday-type stuff like normal siblings—assuming Dr. Wily doesn’t mess things up.

Plot Idea 2 — Roll finds him (funny)

Roll, otoh, might take it a bit further and be sadistic, like convince Proto Man he’s actually a housekeeper or something she considers equally degrading for him. Not sure how ultimately successful this would be, as having amnesia doesn’t necessarily negate personality or an inflated ego.

Scenario 3 — Dr. Light finds him (serious)

Dr. Light is unlikely to take advantage of Proto Man’s amnesia other than to capture and decommission him (which would be easy if Proto Man also forgot how to fight). With Recut’s backstory for Proto Man, Dr. Light would do his best to use these sad circumstances as an opportunity to have a fresh start with his criminal son. Perhaps second time’s the charm?

Plot Idea 4 — Dr. Wily finds him (serious or funny)

With Wily, not much changes other than Wily would definitely claim to be Proto Man’s creator (Recut). Where it gets complicated is if Wily is sentimental enough to keep Proto on if Proto’s forgotten how to fight, or would Wily decommission Proto to use the plasma canon/weapon copy for another robot? If Wily ditches him, this could kinda tie back into scenario 3 or similar. It’s equally fair to say Dr. Wily in show/Recut had a soft spot for Proto (‘Proto my boy,’ always first choice to dump exposition on), and would allow him to stay as an apprentice/lab assistant (essentially his son), a position Wily regards highly but Proto would find boring, but hilariously be unable to challenge if he also became the worst fighter in Dr. Wily’s army. 

Plot Idea 5 — The Syndicate gets him (Recut based, serious)*

*Slight spoilers for Season 0 and Crime of the Century. Note: These aren’t things that would have actually happened if Proto Man had been captured/had amnesia, just plot premises following the ‘amnesia’ theme.

Reverse Elec Man situation in which Proto Man loses all his memories and is forced to work for the Syndicate (Centum insinuated he might be able to reprogram Proto Man). Obviously, this would be a pretty huge canon divergence if it happened in season 0 (instead of Proto capturing Elec Man), but could also be interesting post The Mega Man in the Moon or Crime of the Century.

Potentially Centum might force Proto Man to pay back his ‘debt’ to the Syndicate, or return to him to Dr. Light’s laboratory, secretly reprogrammed to obey Dr. Light no matter what as pay back for Elec Man. Fitting but kinda dark?

Plot Idea 6 — R.I.P. takes him in (Recut based, both funny and serious)

Perhaps some of the Robot International Police figure out he’s Dr. Light’s creation, but fearing this could get Dr. Light in trouble, they look the other way. They won’t instantly trust him with police stuff if Proto Man can’t be reprogrammed, but they can decommission and keep him at R.I.P. headquarters, technically a prisoner until he somehow proves himself to be trustworthy to do something else.

Meanwhile, Mega Man and Dr. Light are torn about trying to reconnect with Proto Man but not wanting to ruin his apparent ‘second chance’ at R.I.P.

Plot Idea 7 — Kalinka Cossack finds him (Recut based, chaos and hilarity)**

**Slights spoilers for Recut’s Crime of the Century / Master of Disaster

Recut implies that Kali Cossack really has no idea who Proto Man. She thinks he’s some kind of human super hero of whom she’s developed a crush on, and therefore would be super sympathetic to his condition as she tries to help him regain memories of his former super hero life. Proto Man knows in his gut this is all wrong, but at same time has no actual memories to go by. And if Kalinka eventually figures out he’s robot, she might turn to her roboticist dad for help…

I should probably do something with some of these Recut AU plot bunnies but I don’t know how and when haha
