Last month, Ultra Music Festival announced the phase one lineup for its 2020 festival in Miami. The lineup had a mix of EDM and deeper house and techno artists for the festival’s return to Bayfront Park. In lieu of announcing a full phase two just yet, Ultra has announced the full phase one lineup for Resistance Miami.
Resistance will span two stages next year: the Carl Cox Megastructure and a new stage called The Cove. As usual, Carl Cox dominates the Resistance lineup. But next year he’ll play b2b with Maceo Plex, not to mention play b3b with Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers. The lineup also includes Adam Beyer b2b Cirez D (making up for Prydz’s cancellation this year), Amelie Lens, Gorgon City, ANNA and more.
The Resistance lineup appeals to Ultra’s underground following. However, fans of the more EDM-friendly artists will have to wait for Ultra’s phase two lineup to come. Watch the lineup video announcement below:

Ultra Music Festival 2019: Stage Layout Details Revealed
Ultra Miami is undergoing some huge changes this year. With a new venue locked in, music fans from all over the world are ready to experience the music festival at its new home in Virginia Key.
Now, we finally have our first look at the grounds — thanks to a source that works closely with the City of Miami. The images below shared via Reddit map out the essentials. The stage layout, showcasing placement of the Main Stage, Worldwide Stage, Radio Stage, Live/ASOT Stage, and the all-new RESISTANCE Island featuring Carl Cox’s Megastructure. Plus, much more.
Music fans are most interested in the dimensions of the Main Stage. If this mock up is to scale, that means Ultra’s Main Stage will measure up to just under 200 feet wide for 2019. In 2016, for example, the stage was 210 feet wide. It seems Ultra Miami won’t have to compromise too much with the new location. See more explanation here.
The maps below also detail logistics for docking, the main entrance, and other amenities including the merchandise hub, ECO village and more.
Ultra Miami takes place March 29 – 31, 2019 at the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park & Miami Marine Stadium. See full transport details here, explore the lineup here, and learn more via UltraMusicFestival.com.

Carl Cox Partners with RESISTANCE for All Future Ultra Music Festivals
A new post has been published on EDM Life at http://edmlife.com/carl-cox-partners-with-resistance-for-all-future-ultra-music-festivals/
Carl Cox recently announced that his Carl Cox Arena concept will be partnering with RESISTANCE at Ultra Music Festival events going forward. The Carl Cox Megastructure has been used for Carl Cox & Friends showcases at UMFs, but Ultra is now supporting the Carl Cox and RESISTANCE collaboration. As EDM Life has reported, Cox will be the global ambassador for the RESISTANCE brand curating production and talent.
Cox said the following about his collaboration with RESISTANCE: “I’ve been a huge fan of RESISTANCE since it started and I think it deserves a stage that can showcase the brilliant production to its full potential. There is no question that RESISTANCE was built in the same vein as CC&F, to bring the most upfront talent, production value and experiences to the fans, and I know the best place for that is in the Megastructure. I know fans will agree and be absolutely blown away!”
The debut of RESISTANCE in the Megastructure will take place at Ultra Music Festival 2017 from March 24 – 26.

With the 22nd annual Ultra Music Festival less than a month away, the Phase 3 lineup has been revealed, along with each stage’s daily chronological programming.
ULTRA MIAMI 2019 (Official 4K Aftermovie)
youtube
New additions include David Guetta’s underground alias Jack Back making his North American festival debut following the project’s 2018 relaunch, Ultra’s first proper hardstyle booking of Belgian powerhouse producer Coone, chart-topping, party-starter beatmaker Baauer, indie-electronic sound sculptor TOKiMONSTA, and singer-songwriter-producer triple-threat CRAY.
Both Revealed Recordings and A State Of Trance will be celebrating major decade milestones, with Revealed hitting its ten-year mark since the label launched, and A State Of Trance returning to the festival for its tenth consecutive Ultra showcase. Friday night will see ten Revealed Recordings artists playing back-to-back for a massive closing performance, and Saturday evening will be rounded out with a special collaborative set from a myriad of ASOT flag-bearers.
In addition to these new artist announcements, Ultra has also unveiled the day-by-day lineup for the festival’s six stages. The Ultra Main Stage is stacked with genre-crossing performances that range from the hard-hitting sounds of Martin Garrix and Afrojack, and trance offerings from Above & Beyond and Armin van Buuren, to sunset sets from Kygo and FISHER, and house stylings from Tchami and Oliver Heldens, capped off by stadium-smashing closing shows from Major Lazer, DJ Snake and David Guetta, respectively.
The Live Stage will play host to a plethora of dynamic performances, including Grammy award-winning Flume making his Ultra debut while he closes out the entire festival with an avant-garde showcase of drums, synths and a myriad of other instruments. Revered prince of darkness Gesaffelstein will close out the stage on Saturday, marking his first Miami performance since debuting his Vantablack VBx2 live show this spring which creates an illusion of infinite depth and blackness. Friday evening will be rounded out by Zedd presents The Orbit, which will see the three-time Grammy award-winner perform on an LED-backed orbiting structure that revolves on all sides of the producer.
The Ultra Worldwide Stage will kick off on Friday with a bass-in-your-face run of programming, featuring Jauz B2B NGHTMRE, Snails B2B Kill The Noise, Borgore, and more. Saturday’s ASOT showcase will celebrate a decade at the festival with sets from artists like Gareth Emery, in his first ASOT appearance since 2013, Tritonal, in their first ASOT appearance since 2013, Andrew Rayel, Aly & Fila, Ilan Bluestone and many more of Armin van Buuren’s trance cohorts. Sunday will see Malaa and DJ Snake close the festival with their first announced B2B of 2020, as well as sets from SLANDER B2B Kayzo, Space Jesus, Andy C and more.
The UMF Radio Stage will host three impressive label takeovers; Friday belongs to Revealed Recordings and will feature sets from Maddix, Deorro, and Mike Williams B2B Surprise Guest, Saturday will see STMPD RCRDS artists including Lost Frequencies, Matisse & Sadko B2B DubVision, and a surprise closing performance. While Sunday’s inaugural Gud Vibrations stage takeover will feature sets from Baauer, Subtronics, Peekaboo, 1788-L and many more.
Carl Cox has been curating his own stage at Ultra Music Festival since 2005, and this year his iconic RESISTANCE MegaStructure will expand to take place over all three days of the festival for the first time ever at Bayfront Park. Each night, Carl Cox will close out the festivities; on Friday as a B2B with Maceo Plex, on Saturday as a B3B alongside Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers, and on Sunday as a solo performance. Techno and house heavyweights including Richie Hawtin, Tale of Us, Adam Beyer ◻︎ Cirez D, Loco Dice, and Amelie Lens, who will be making her Ultra Music Festival debut, are only a few of many names that comprise the MegaStructure’s massive lineup.
RESISTANCE will also present a brand-new stage dubbed “The Cove” because of its unique waterfront positioning with Biscayne Bay to the east and Biscayne Boulevard to the west. This new stage, nestled perfectly under the palm trees in the heart of Downtown Miami, will capture the vibe and spirit of Resistance Island, and feature performances from the likes of Solardo, Pan-Pot, ARTBAT, CamelPhat, Reinier Zonneveld (LIVE) and Matador.

Ultra Music Festival’s RESISTANCE Island To Feature 3 Stages Including Carl Cox MegaStructure
Ultra Music Festival is undergoing some major changes for 2019 and RESISTANCE is getting a huge upgrade.
Festival creators are introducing a “brand new immersive 3-day experience” on RESISTANCE island. Yeah, the concept gets its own island. The new location allows for three total RESISTANCE stages and no shortage of amazing headliners.
“3 STAGES, 3 DAYS of the Carl Cox MegaStructure, and much more…” Ultra shares in a post.
Ultra Miami also announced the RESISTANCE lineup earlier this week. Adam Beyer b2b Cirez D, Black Coffee, Charlotte de Witte, Maceo Plex, Richie Hawtin, Sasha | John Digweed, and Testpilot are among the headliners. The support acts are just as noteworthy. Plus, there’s a b2b Carl Cox set that has yet to be revealed, so even more surprises await.
Ultra Miami takes place March 29 – 31, 2019 at the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park & Miami Marine Stadium. Tickets on sale now at UltraMusicFestival.com.

Ultra Music Festival Finds The Perfect Home For Its 21st Edition [REVIEW]
What a year it was for Ultra Music Festival. After being hit with the heavy news that the Bayfront Park was no more, organizers scrambled to find a perfect new home for the spectacle. Familiarizing themselves with the stunning Virginia Key Beach, the venue was massive, overlooking the sea, and provided a generous facelift to the positive atmosphere all weekend. It was the perfect place to kick off a new era for Ultra. Celebrating its 21st edition, so much took place and we’re here to highlight some of the best moments of Ultra 2019.
youtube
The Chainsmokers surprised many with their performance to close out the festival. Contrary to the uplifting and catchy melodies you’ll hear on the radio, the duo went all out to premiere new collaborations with ILLENIUM, Crankdat, and more. The surprisingly aggressive set blew us away and really shined some light into what the future holds for one of electronic music’s biggest acts.
youtube
Arguably one of the most anticipated sets of the weekend. The reunion of Skrillex and Boys Noize truly lived up to the hype. Aside from bringing Ty Dolla $ign up to premiere new music, they flashed the crowd with a spur of unreleased bangers that only confirm Dog Blood is BACK. In an era where house music is at its best, the duo will certainly thrive in EDM’s current climate. We’re also just really happy to have Skrillex back.
youtube
So many expectations headed into the night for Alesso. What does the Swedish prodigy have left to prove? Finding himself once again in the headliner slot, the artist took fans on a trip down memory lane. Creating a perfect balance of new and old, the euphoria was at an all-time as many sung their hearts out to the classics put on display. Creating such a buzz on social media, it seemed as if those watching the livestream also found themselves in awe at the perfect set we all just witnessed thanks to Alesso.
youtube
Oliver Heldens got a major push from organizers as he rightfully earned his slot as a headliner on the main stage this year. Moving past his earlier set times, the producer took us into the afternoon and really put on a show. The array of grooves, basslines, and energy he left on that stage left more than just an impression. As he continues to climb the ladder, Oliver Heldens showed his worth this year.
youtube
With so much to take away from the weekend, we had Armin Van Buuren close out the ASOT stage with a whopping 4 hour set, Deadmau5 debut his Cube 3.0, Shaquille O’Neal joining the mosh pit during SLANDER & NGHTMRE‘s set, Adam Beyer stealing the show at Carl Cox‘s megastructure, and Cash Cash throwing a broken mixer off stage. It was an eventful 3 days to say the very least. With a giant crowd of 170k+ constantly in high spirits, the liveliness was contagious and further confirms Ultra 2019 a success.
Taking some hiccups here and there with energy outages, production failures, transportation issues, and a painful walk from the resistance island to the main festival grounds, there is a lot to take back and improve for next year. It is expected for a new festival grounds to experience issues in its first run but with just 4 months of planning, Ultra did an exceptional job at making sure its attendees remained safe and content.
