Breathe By Alessandra G.L. Gonzales

A story that revolves around two people, hearts close to each other even though they have distance as one of their enemies and that did not stop them from loving each other.

Hwever, once Isaak came into Katherine’s home, he was poorly judged and poorly treated by Katherine’s family, saying that he did not look like in his pictures and acted coldly towards him. This of course put some strain and pressure on their relationship when Isaak asked Katherine to come home with him, she rejected it but with anxiety and fear that he might get tired and find another girl from his country. She refused it because she loves her family more than him and it is not a wrong choice, though, she just sacrificed her true happiness for something that suffocates her.

We should always remember to chase our happiness and fight for what we truly love because regret is there when we submit to fear.

Touchmove by Peter Mayshle

It is a story that features two men and their different perspectives and opinions about women, one views them as prey and an object of sex, while the other one views them as women and humans.

This is a great story that tackles sexism, how some men sees women as an object to satisfy their sexual desire, though some managed to destroy that thought about women like what happened to the story’s narrator, wherein he realizes that women are human too and they suffer because of that sexist idea created about them: that they are only an object of lust for men and made just to provide service for them. Women experience mistreatment such as violence, discrimination, and abuse from men whenever they did not please them like how they want to, not only in the fictional world but in reality as well. It is one of the societal issues up until this modern generation that seems unending, even though much awareness has been raised. We should always take note that women and men are both humans, therefore they should be treated equally, and deserves the same respect, rights, and opportunities as well.

Use of Force by William Carlos Williams

The kid was too stubborn and that is why she got hurt, in my own interpretation, this is a great depiction of how stubbornness can lead people into, that it can lead you to danger and harm, wherein the concern of the parents represents the in-real-life concern of parents whenever their children are in pain and they just want for it to end because they cannot handle their children suffering. It is like an allegory that discusses the danger of disobeying your parents and what pain it can bring you into. Furthermore, the doctor who used the force represents the consequence that the child faces because of her stubbornness and because she chose to not follow her parents. This is my interpretation as not only children but teenagers and adults should learn to follow what is right and what is better for them, instead of choosing their pride over important matters. We should always remember that being prideful is not good and we should listen to other people’s opinions and thoughts. With that, it would not only help others, thus it can also help us to be a better version of ourselves and improve.
