The most ridiculous thing for me about this whole voting situation is the constant attempts at shaming and guilt tripping for wanting to vote for Jimin? As if that makes people not “true armys” or whatever phrase they use. Why are people who vote for Jimin automatically solos/fake bts fans? He is literally Jimin of BTS. Not to mention, the concept of *true fans* is already stupid because no one has actual authority to declare what makes that in the first place.
I’ve been around army spaces for years as a Jimin biased fan, and it’s definitely escalated as time goes on with how much shaming is enabled/encouraged if you don’t follow the general fandom’s consensus of the members’ “places” for lack of a better term.
The members were boxed into specific frameworks years ago by the fandom, yet those ideas still stick around as new fans adopt them too. So when Jimin deviates from what’s expected of his “place”, (being more successful than expected) there’s always pushback because some people are really weirdly intense about having a say in that. Some fans genuinely see him only as the ever-supportive cheerleader for everyone else. Jimin can be successful, but only if he doesn’t outshine anyone. Successfully breaking out as much as he did puts him on the chopping block now.
I like the RL members but a lot of their fans have strange superiority and victim complexes. They can’t seem to accept that the solo ventures will not be equally as popular which is a given. Different genres attract different audiences, it’s common sense. You’d think they were told their bias is talentless with the way words are constantly twisted. I don’t understand the intensity for this AMA voting in particular when NJ was also nominated for 2 other awards. I barely see any support for those, yet when it involves Jimin fans suddenly have to take sides? It’s stupid
Sorry for the rant but for me this voting fiasco is just a culmination of way older issues
They’re losing their minds at anybody voting for Jimin because they know that if even a small amount of ARMYs vote for him he’ll win. They absolutely do NOT want that to happen considering they’ve turned this whole voting situation into an opportunity to unleash their pent up resentment over “ML privilege” and “RL neglect”. It’s also turned into a very heated battle against solos (despite the fact that there are plenty of non-solos wanting to vote for Jimin too). All of that is why they’re being extremely aggressive, antagonistic, and controlling about this. There’s a certain desperation in making sure no one votes for JM which is extraordinarily gross to witness. All of the “don’t split the votes or we’ll lose!” comments are actually “don’t split the votes or JM will win and RM will lose!”. They're just too spineless to say that, but that’s what they actually mean.
& yeah, it’s definitely about it being JM specifically for a lot of reasons, one of which is all the people who are still stuck on TMA (they need to touch grass and get some therapy). He’s had a lot of recent wins and JK hasn’t had an official release since 2023, so Jimin has been at the forefront of this whole “ML favoritism” discourse.
There are a lot of RL diets in this fandom but they never get called out because it’s normalized to victimize RL so they feel legitimized in their open bitterness. They disguise their shady JM anti tweets behind a smokescreen of “justified anger for the RL neglect” but no… they're just being bitter losers because they're overly biased and internalizing RL success and want them to have the kind of success that they value (mainstream awards, big numbers) because they spend too much time in stan spaces.
I agree entirely, and you put it perfectly. A lot of ARMYs really have this warped relationship with BTS that feels so controlling and entitled. I think it shows in how a lot of accounts have this weird tone where they act like they’re an official spokesperson for the group or something. A lot of fans find comfort in BTS (me included) but I think that can lead to some feeling even stronger about keeping them in specific parameters that they find comfortable and familiar. It’s pretty dehumanizing. So many ARMYs are also overly biased and get weird when one of the members that are not part of their bias line/ship succeeds too much, and that’s Jimin for a lot of them.
The perception they have of him is very odd in general but I still remember pretty vividly how at the beginning of CH2 a lot of people were pretty blunt in saying they thought tkk would have the most successful solo careers. After FACE era there were soooo many posts and comments in all ARMY spaces that were basically like “just wait until tkk debut!” basically saying if Jimin managed to do all that, tkk were about to be off the charts insane. And then when Layover came out and THs numbers for the most part lagged a good bit behind JM there were all these crash outs in ARMY spaces (not solo or diets even, ARMYs) because they couldn’t understand how he could be so solidly third when their mental rankings and fandom narratives had his popularity dwarfing JMs.
There were all these think pieces about the fandom not appreciating non-pop and punishing TH for xyz reason and it was genuinely so odd because THs numbers weren’t bad at all, they just weren’t Jikook’s numbers, or I imagine specifically Jimin's. Anyone who has actually payed even… a little bit of attention to past music releases would have always known Jikook were the most likely to have the biggest chart success because historically their solo songs have ALWAYS been first or second in popularity (JM 2/3 most popular if we just count the official BTS solos which is why it’s bizarre ppl had low expectations for him).
It’s stupid
Honestly the RL thing… I think I’m probably one of the least sympathetic people on that whole issue which is kind of funny and surprising because I really do like RL. I’ve seen people who are even more overly biased than me acknowledging that the fandom lets them down and I’ve just never really felt that way about it even though I agree the fandom could do better and I get wanting a convo on that. But I guess because
RL are extremely respected in the industry. ARMYs make it sound like they’re really just these sad sacks out there, but they have a lot of respect and are spoken of very highly by a lot of people in the industry. Their specific choices might not always lead to high numbers, but the tradeoff is they gain a lot of clout from creatives. Look at all the critical praise for RPWP for example (I think VL have a lot of respect too don’t get me wrong, they’ve just had less time working on their solo careers).
Maybe because… I actually listen to alternative indie music? And it’s never had high numbers, like ever. When I listened to RPWP I really liked it but I knew it probably wasn’t going to chart well. It might suck a bit for RM because he’s used to charting high with BTS (and I think he said in his docu that he’s someone with a lot of contradictions or something like that) but I think that’s just the reality of putting out music like that unless you get very lucky or go viral. His streams and support for making that kind of music are miles ahead of the majority of artists who do, and there really are a lot of ARMYs who openly enjoy, appreciate, and stream it.
sort of on a similar note there’s a lot of reasons why it’s particularly difficult for a non-english speaking person to break into the western rap scene and if someone doesn’t understand that, and refuses to acknowledge it, they’re just being purposefully obtuse. I’m not saying it’s impossible or not to try but it’s way more difficult and that’s just how it is.
ARMYs clearly do love RL, they get hit tweets and lots of engagement on social media and look at the response to JH’s tour. It’s ridiculous to argue otherwise. The main difference in support has always come from solo fans and casual stans, not ARMYs
ARMYs can lash out at someone bringing up the genre argument but it's always going to play a key role in chart performance and that’s simply how it is. They think ARMYs can just brute force these songs to have high numbers but we've never been great at longevity and the people who zombie stream have always been a minority. There’s also less and less willing to do all that as the hiatus goes on. Also very obviously having a big solo fanbase is key here, but they won’t acknowledge that either so…
And on the pretension it’s extremely obnoxious and misplaced but I guess it’s how some of them cope. I think it’s super weird when ARMYs specifically start openly shading pop music and putting it down as a way to uplift RL. They really don’t have to do all that but it’s their own insecurities about charts and numbers because so much of this fandom was built around that I guess. VL music isn’t inferior because it’s “pop” imo FACE was one of the most complex and interesting works to come out of CH2 and JM specifically did something very unique in his artistry by having the choreo play a big role in the storytelling, and he deserves more kudos for that.
Anyways yeah ARMYs have allowed all this open resentment for Jimin to fester and form in the main fandom and this is the culmination of that for me. It’s so toxic because a lot of the “RL deserves better” posts won’t actually work to get anyone to support them, it just makes people more openly resentful and antagonistic towards ML (particularly Jikook). That’s why this current situation isn’t people rallying for Namjoon, it’s people rallying against Jimin. That’s what a lot of the RL stream discourse is about at the end of the day, because you’re 100% right about the whole ARMYs being controlling thing. They can’t get the RL support to go up no matter how much they try, so they want to tear Jimin down instead to equalize things because that is something they can control.
Successfully breaking out as much as he did puts him on the chopping block now.
Yeah, I was thinking about this. It’s sad because if Jimin loses a few awards and his next release flops you’d see ARMYs start being nicer to him again and I think that’s incredibly toxic. They really don’t want him to be TOO successful and in a way he’s being punished for having a big solo fandom too. CH2 has really brought out the worst in this fandom, it’s just so sad to see.
Not to mention, the concept of true fans is already stupid because no one has actual authority to declare what makes that in the first place.
Oh and I meant to say I 10000000% agree with this!!
(and never apologize for ranting, I enjoy reading rants. Sorry for rambling all over the place in my response lol)
(also obviously it's not ALL ARMYs but it's a lot of them this time and it's hard not to feel pessimistic)

Run BTS: 048 | Protect the BTS Village part 2
Original Air Date: 10 APR 2018 Episode Length: 36:13 Total Parts: 2 YouTube English Subtitles: Yes Title Song: Blood Sweat & Tears
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Conclusion of the previous ep. We find out exactly what happened with the Blue village
Production: Excellent framework choice to end the previous ep with Jimin's sly smile and start the next one here. It could be that they didn't get much footage without Jimin being sus, but it gives the audience a different perspective on the events of the episode KNOWING that JM is bad. it's a good thing they went through all of the hints at the end. In my opinion, the teams were completely unbalanced. There only should have been 2 imposters. The good guys are already at a disadvantage, not knowing anyone they can trust, and these clues were a little too subtle for the members. but overall, it was very watchable and cut together well to reveal the blue members with appropriate pacing.
Endearment: Same as before, the guys do a little better with the actual game when they're given a little more solid direction like searching for the journals
Winner: YG, JM, V
Loser: JN, RM, JH, JK
Best Cheater: Jimin. Hiding Hobi's journal!
Member Moments:
RM: RM, you were so close! He was starting to figure it out but he let the group sway him! lesson one in social deduction games, if someone is being sussed by all of the players, they're usually not it since the imposters won't out their buddies. It's not clear to us if the guys know that the blue villagers know who eachother are but definitely something to keep in mind.
JN: This episode is a pivotal moment in Jin's character development for social deduction games. he brings this up for yeaaaarrs to come.
YG: Ahh, yoongi, you put in so much effort and that pesky bus ticket...
JH: The Hobi/Jimin wallet conversation is iconic. and we see again, this manner that Hobi adopts when he's been wrongfully accused. I'm telling you, if he could nail that for when he's actually guilty, he'd be unstoppable.
JM: Jimin, the most adorable evil smirk in history??
V: V's package was from yeontan!! i never noticed that before! not our beloved Tannie!!
JK: Ahhh, JK's habbit of fixating on one task. he spends this whole episode looking for his journal to no avail.
Bonus Content: Honestly, I'm kinda dissapointed in the bonus content for these episodes. i get that there's a specific person filming for this but there were cameras all over that set; there had to be some interesting content that didn't make the final cut. the best part of the bonus content for me is the tiny bit of an interview the winning and losing teams did.
CQ Rank: 5

How would you rework season 3 (including the fallout from Trey’s shootintg)?
Hmm, I think early to mid s3 has a decent enough framework in general, at least core four wise, it's just that the execution sucks and gets us nowhere. If Johnny really is supposed to be this romantic threat they try to make him out to be, fucking go somewhere with it. Obviously I'm very very glad this didn't happen, but I think a lot could've been done with RM if there was legitimate romantic potential with Johnny because Ryan won't talk to her about Trey. I feel in my bones that they were supposed to really have it out midseason and then something shifted.
I guess what I'd really do is have Trey die in 301. I think a lot of people agree that the show and RM's classic miscommunication could've been stretched out longer if Trey died and RM absolutely would not withstand that kind of tension between them. Marissa would be cleared of all charges, and so would Ryan, but the tension and sadness would be too thick. I think they'd try to stay together because they love each other and maybe they even start sleeping together but I think eventually both would find it too hard. And more because they think that's what the other wants. Marissa would be devastated she took away Ryan's remaining blood relative and Ryan would be extremely confused as to why he couldn't just get over the loss because he knew Trey was a dirtbag and literally assaulted his girlfriend. Not to mention that Trey was in the process of killing him too. But feelings are more complicated than that.
I think they'd agree to go their separate ways but of course they run into one another and SS are always around too. I think Marissa would get into a more serious depression that makes Julie bring her to therapy and a psychiatrist. Ryan would rejoin the soccer team as a distraction, and to also bump up his extracurriculars. I think there's a one night stand that turns into them trying to be friends and lightly talking about all that's happened to them. Ryan is proud of her for seeking help and Marissa is charmed that he's playing sports again. Marissa cautiously tells him that her therapist has been helping her process her trauma but also her relief that Trey isn't out there waiting to attack her again. That she has to weigh the terrible feelings involved in all of it. He slowly tells her his terrible feelings too. They're back together by prom. In the wider scheme of things, I think this would take them years to get through, so perhaps all is not totally settled.
Having Kirsten do nothing all year but arrange flowers grinds my gears so I'm gonna say she returns to the Newport Group as CEO and works on really making it a company that she's proud of. I think her sobriety would be tested a few times as she girlbosses her way through boardrooms and drama but it also makes her reach out to Dawn and have an open dialogue about what Ryan's seen and been through. Obviously she and Marissa later connect too. I'd have Ryan still interning at the Newport Group but instead of Matt that no one cares about I'd have him learn from and bond with Kirsten.
I'd have Sandy return to the Public Defender's office and get back to what he knows and loves. He started his own firm in s2 and had all of four clients, two of which ended up dead. So yeah, I'd have him be our noble patriarch again.
I'd have Seth doing something that matters. Not sure what. I don't think the show ever figured that out either. In my head Seth and Marissa always find out that they're platonic soul mates and become very good friends.

elsewhere on the internet: jewish currents
Jewish Currents has consistently published articles that I think about for days afterwards. Here are a few pieces from recent issues.
Can Tourist Be Liberatory
Raphael Magarik: People often think of tourism as shallow, consumerist, and apolitical. How is solidarity tourism different? Jennifer Lynn Kelly: In solidarity tourism, guides educate tourists about their context, their conditions, and their freedom struggles. In each of the tours considered in my book—which range from the week-long tours across historic Palestine, to day tours of cities or villages in the West Bank, to two-hour tours in the eastern part of occupied Jerusalem or in West Jerusalem—guides focus on the history of Palestinian displacement and provide an alternative to Zionist narratives. For example, on bus tours through the West Bank, guides will point to sprawling Palestinian terraces and explain how Palestinians have always cared for the land. In doing so, they are intervening in the Zionist idea that Palestine was “a land without a people for a people without a land.” By assembling these kinds of itineraries, the guides are pressing tourism into the service of anti-colonial work.
JLK: Tourism often aspires toward authenticity: unfettered access to an unscripted world. That is a consumerist desire. Solidarity tourism is not exempt from this tendency, but it reveals and subverts the script of tourists’ expectations. For instance, in the book I talk about a moment where a tourist was looking at a blackened wall in Nablus and asked, “What happened here?” And the tour guide said, “Someone was spray painting their bed frame.” In these moments, tour guides are interrupting tourists’ desire for a narration of violence and only violence.
RM: The Israeli siege of Gaza essentially renders in-person tourism impossible. How do guides respond to this problem? JLK: In Gaza, some guides might walk tourists virtually through their space and answer questions about their conditions. Others use recorded snippets to create a hypothetical tour where they say, “If you were to take a walking tour in Gaza City, here is where I would take you.” There are also virtual tours that help visitors imagine a vibrant, thriving tourism industry in Gaza after liberation. Like solidarity tourism, these virtual experiences are a true refiguring of tourism. The result is not just a camera leading tourists through a space but an exercise in imagining liberation.

Portraits of Encounter
Aliza Nisenbaum’s exhibition at the Queens Museum is bookended by a pair of paintings that create an echo. At one end hangs La Talaverita, Sunday Morning NY Times (2016), in which a teenage girl and her father read the paper on a couch.
...
“The best portrait painters working today introduce something new into art not through stylistic innovations, but by whom they choose as subjects,” Dushko Petrovich wrote in an article that discusses Nisenbaum’s work published in T Magazine in 2018. Certainly, there’s gratification in seeing marginalized people get the kind of sumptuous treatment they receive in Nisenbaum’s paintings. But reading Nisenbaum primarily through the lens of representation elides important aspects of her practice—for example, she paints dancers and flowers, and she gets as animated about color as she does about her subjects.
Portraiture gives Nisenbaum a framework in which to encounter other people. In this she’s like the artist Alice Neel, who famously canonized friends, neighbors, and art-world figures in portraits so penetrating, they can be uncomfortable to look at. Neel called herself a “collector of souls”; Nisenbaum, by contrast, seems less interested in baring people’s true selves on canvas than in capturing something of their profound unknowability. Her subjects are often lost in thought or activity, like Marissa in La Talaverita and Pedacito de Sol. Others are immersed in settings filled with material culture—like Andra, a facilities staffer at the Queens Museum whom Nisenbaum depicts in his office,
She also developed a policy of compensating sitters. Before she was selling her work, she would cook for them and give them their finished paintings. (These small gestures of care sometimes yielded significant results; during the Covid-19 pandemic, when they were struggling with unemployment, Marissa and her mother were able to sell two early Nisenbaum pieces to Anton Kern Gallery, which represents the artist.) Now that there is a market for her work, Nisenbaum pays her subjects, and donates to organizations that are somehow aligned with the people she’s depicting in a given project. In the case of the current exhibition, that’s the La Jornada and Queens Museum Cultural Food Pantry, which takes place at the museum every Wednesday.
Such practices build on Levinas’s idea of an ethics grounded in the face-to-face encounter. In the process, they help Nisenbaum mitigate the exploitation that has been a hallmark of art history, especially when the people being portrayed come from groups on the margins of society. But beyond payment, Nisenbaum is interested in mutual relationships as both a standard and a subject. For example, the exhibition includes a large painting of the pantry titled Eloina, Angie, Abril y Marleny, Despensa de Alimentos, Queens Museum (2023). It’s a vertiginous scene of flattened perspective in which produce, volunteers, and “shoppers” form a sweeping, colorful loop of activity.
Bad Memory
an editorial column written by members of the Jewish Currents staff and reflects a collective discussion.
Germany is acclaimed for its efforts to atone for the Holocaust. But its method of repudiating the past has become a tool of exclusion.
..
To show itself fit to enter the community of Western European nations, a new, reunified Germany set out to prove, over the next two decades, that it had sufficiently repented. Germans even coined a new word—Vergangenheitsbewältigung—to name the process of “coming to terms with the past” that has become a linchpin of German national identity. Seeking to bolster its claim to penitence, the newly reunified country trumpeted a “Jewish renaissance” driven largely by immigration from the former Soviet Union—an influx of Jews that, as the scholar Hannah Tzuberi has put it, became the “most valuable guarantor of [Germany’s] democratic, liberal, tolerant character.”

Magnum 4D Item Features
The principal game that Magnum presented was the exemplary 4D game. In this variant, the player chooses a four-digit number and picks the sum they need to bet. This adaptation has little and enormous forecasts. A little bet can give higher winnings, yet the player can win if their number comes up in the initial three spots.
For the enormous bets, the winning possibilities are low, however the winning prizes are not limited to the initial three places as it were. There are ten unique numbers for which a player can get up to RM180 for a bet of RM1. There are likewise ten encouragement numbers for which players can win up to RM60 for a bet of RM.
The 4D game has five gameplay varieties.
Fundamental technique: You pick a number, pick a major or little forecast, and afterward buy the sum.
Luck pick play: The framework produces a random number for you. Roll play: You pick three digits and roll one digit. This will prompt the age of ten unique numbers for ten separate buys. For roll play, the base bet sum is RM10. Change play: You can pick all potential variations of your 4D number. This increments winning possibilities as you purchase all the conceivable digit blends in differing orders. For example, a novel four-digit mix can have up to 24 variations.
mBox play: Your picked 4D number is permutated currently inside a single buy. It is important to take note of that since the winning odds are the most elevated in this play variation, the prize cash is less. For example, on the off chance that you pick 3465, and the winning number is 5463, you will win as the winning number is a stage of 3465.

i really hate to disappoint but demian isn't niche in korea, it's in their literature syllabus for schools 😭😭 but it's still very cool that so many kpop idols reference it and it's even cooler when they show that they have an actual interest in books (like rm and def taemin!)
its not disappointing rly ive heard hermann hesse is quite popular there ! its still very interesting tho bcs even if it may be their equivalent of our great gatsby or wtv that doesnt mean its less valuable just bcs its more popular...the story is sooooo intersting and compelling, there is a reason some books are used in school, its bcs theyre challenging and thought provoking ! demian is also just soooo taemin and im so excited to see how he uses it as a framework for his future concept(s)!!!

I read Atlas Shrugged back in school when I had nothing better to do (or so I thought, I lament all the paint that dried unwatched in that time) and I have only ever met one person who agreed with it who has claimed to have actually read it. I say claimed because it was an RM at a Mormon dance many moons ago and I had a similar trap question about Dagny that he failed with flying colors. He said he loved Dagny's moral framework and supported his [sic] actions in the book (Dagny is a woman. At least try to lie well, cmon). He clearly thought he had impressed all of us (probably a dozen girls ages 16-21) with his Well-Read and Sophisticated ways and was being a jackass about it so I asked him if he was a liar or if he just had the reading comprehension of a kindergartener. When he claimed neither I asked him how the hell he planned on getting mormon married when he thought that affairs were not only justifiable but morally correct. He then insisted I was thinking of a different book and when wikipedia agreed with me he failed to provide any kind of synopsis for the book he hallucinated was Atlas Shrugged. Never saw him again, good riddance.
I have met one person who did actually read it. Someone brought up Ayn Rand in conversation and he made a face like he'd eaten a lemon, and decribed the book as "quite a trip". We had a long conversation about how her insanity is likely a reaction to trauma and how she writes dialogue like an alien. That guy's cool.
Alright. So. I have a confession to share with you. In middle school, I strongly identified as a libertarian. In my defense, I was 13 and I had autism. Against my defense, I was literate, and capable of using common sense. I confessed this to you willingly, so go easy on me.
One thing about this that I can share with you is that I, as a 13 year old boy, read Atlas Shrugged. I read it as someone very committed to the ideology, who wanted to believe it, who wanted to like it, and there are two things I can share with you about that book from that time period.
The writing is terrible. It has the slowest, most boring, most pretentious prose you could possibly imagine. Calling it glacial would be a compliment. It makes glaciers look like Formula 1. There is no description for the pacing outside of hellish torments. It is like being condemned to watch a dog with an itchy ass wear the Himmalayas away only by scooching. It is like counting the grains of sand on a beach while Alexa reads off random phone numbers. It is like dipping saltines into lukewarm tapwater while listening to white noise in a beige room with no doors. It is like wearing a blindfold and being told to guess what a man is painting by sound alone, but there is no man, there is only a dog licking cold vaseline off a window. Forever. It is all of those things and more.
There is a multipage rant about how affairs are Good and Rational that is so insanely desparate that even middle-school-autist me thought she must have been having an affair while she wrote this. And then I googled it, and the answer was yes, she was. She called her philosophy Objectivism, because she believed, like everyone else in the world, that her ideas and motivations were Pure and Rational and Ojectively Correct, but I still find the name accurate, because it was really written with one Objective in mind, and that was finding a way to never admit that Ayn Rand had ever made a mistake in her life.
I was going to rant more about this but I kind of lost my train of thought. The book fucking sucks. It was propaganda of such remarkably low caliber that it actually helped me move out of those circles. Every time someone talked about liking the book, I'd reply with something along the lines of "Yeah, I especially loved the part where she destroyed the post modernists by unequivocally condemning affairs", and if they agreed with me, they would have lost my respect forever, and if they looked very embarrassed, I could at least acknowledge that they had a soul, albeit small and malformed. I had dozens of people claim that they read the book, and only three or four actually passed the test.
And now, goodnight.

from the NLRB.org website-
"Under the new framework, when a union requests recognition on the basis that a majority of employees in an appropriate bargaining unit have designated the union as their representative, an employer must either recognize and bargain with the union or promptly file an RM petition seeking an election. However, if an employer who seeks an election commits any unfair labor practice that would require setting aside the election, the petition will be dismissed, and—rather than re-running the election—the Board will order the employer to recognize and bargain with the union."

Decoding Hadoop’s Core: HDFS, YARN, and MapReduce Explained
In today's data-driven world, handling massive volumes of data efficiently is more critical than ever. As organisations continue to generate and analyse vast datasets, they rely on powerful frameworks like Apache Hadoop to manage big data workloads. At the heart of Hadoop are three core components—HDFS, YARN, and MapReduce. These technologies work in tandem to store, process, and manage data across distributed computing environments.
Whether you're a tech enthusiast or someone exploring a Data Scientist Course in Pune, understanding how Hadoop operates is essential for building a solid foundation in big data analytics.
What is Hadoop?
Apache Hadoop is a free, open-source framework intended for the storage and processing of large data sets across networks of computers. It provides a reliable, scalable, and cost-effective way to manage big data. Hadoop is widely used in industries such as finance, retail, healthcare, and telecommunications, where massive volumes of both form of data, structured and unstructured, are generated daily.
To understand how Hadoop works, we must dive into its three core components: HDFS, YARN, and MapReduce.
HDFS: Hadoop Distributed File System
HDFS is the storage backbone of Hadoop. It allows data to be stored across multiple machines while appearing as a unified file system to the user. Designed for high fault tolerance, HDFS replicates data blocks across different nodes to ensure reliability.
Key Features of HDFS:
Scalability: Easily scales by adding new nodes to the cluster.
Fault Tolerance: Automatically replicates data to handle hardware failures.
High Throughput: Optimised for high data transfer rates, making it ideal for large-scale data processing.
For someone pursuing a Data Scientist Course, learning how HDFS handles storage can provide valuable insight into managing large datasets efficiently.
YARN: Yet Another Resource Negotiator
YARN is the system resource management layer in Hadoop. It coordinates the resources required for running applications in a Hadoop cluster. Before YARN, resource management and job scheduling were tightly coupled within the MapReduce component. YARN decouples these functionalities, making the system more flexible and efficient.
Components of YARN:
Resource Manager (RM): Allocates resources across all applications.
Node Manager (NM): Manages resources and monitors tasks on individual nodes.
Application Master: Coordinates the execution of a specific application.
By separating resource management from the data processing component, YARN allows Hadoop to support multiple processing models beyond MapReduce, such as Apache Spark and Tez. This makes YARN a critical piece in modern big data ecosystems.
MapReduce: The Data Processing Engine
MapReduce is the original data processing engine in Hadoop. It processes data in two main stages: Map and Reduce.
Map Function: Breaks down large datasets into key-value pairs and processes them in parallel.
Reduce Function: Aggregates the outputs of the Map phase and summarises the results.
For example, if you want to count the frequency of words in a document, the Map function would tokenise the words and count occurrences, while the Reduce function would aggregate the total count for each word.
MapReduce is efficient for batch processing and is highly scalable. Although newer engines like Apache Spark are gaining popularity, MapReduce remains a fundamental concept in big data processing.
The Synergy of HDFS, YARN, and MapReduce
The true power of Hadoop lies in the integration of its three core components. Here’s how they work together:
Storage: HDFS stores massive volumes of data across multiple nodes.
Resource Management: YARN allocates and manages the resources needed for processing.
Processing: MapReduce processes the data in a distributed and parallel fashion.
This combination enables Hadoop to manage and analyse data at a scale unimaginable with traditional systems.
Why Should Aspiring Data Scientists Learn Hadoop?
As the volume of data continues to grow, professionals skilled in managing big data frameworks like Hadoop are in high demand. Understanding the architecture of Hadoop is a technical and strategic advantage for anyone pursuing a career in data science.
If you're considering a Data Scientist Course in Pune, ensure it includes modules on big data technologies like Hadoop. This hands-on knowledge is crucial for analysing and interpreting complex datasets in real-world scenarios.
Additionally, a comprehensive course will cover not only Hadoop but also related tools like Hive, Pig, Spark, and machine learning techniques—empowering you to become a well-rounded data professional.
Conclusion
Apache Hadoop remains a cornerstone technology in the big data landscape. Its core components—HDFS, YARN, and MapReduce—form a robust framework for storing and processing large-scale data efficiently. HDFS ensures reliable storage, YARN manages computational resources, and MapReduce enables scalable data processing.
For aspiring data scientists and IT professionals, mastering Hadoop is an important step toward becoming proficient in big data analytics. Whether through self-learning or enrolling in a structured Data Scientist Course, gaining knowledge of Hadoop's core functionalities will greatly enhance your ability to work with large and complex data systems.
By understanding the building blocks of Hadoop, you're not just learning a tool—you’re decoding the very foundation of modern data science.

E-Invoicing Malaysia
Tumblr media
1. E-invoicing Malaysia
e-invoicing is a form of electronic billing. This term is used to define the process by which a transaction between two parties (a buyer and seller) is documented electronically, in order to ensure their trading agreements are being met. The e-invoices are sent through government portals for validation and recordkeeping.
For Malaysia, the e-invoice must be created in the format as mentioned by the IRBM (Inland revenue board of Malaysia), which is usually XML or JSON.
2. Rules – e-invoicing Malaysia.
The IRBM had announced in March 2023, that all businesses that are listed in Malaysia must generate e-invoices for B2B, B2C transactions. However, the issuance of e-invoices is not just limited to transactions in Malaysia, it relates to cross border transactions as well. As of now, no industries are exempted from e-invoice implementation.
An e-invoice for Malaysia consists of 55 fields, which encompass details of the buyer, seller, kind of transaction, product, price, time etc. An e-invoice that is validated successfully, consists of a Unique Identification number (UIN) and a QR code.
3. Implementation timeline for e-invoicing Malaysia
In order to ensure smooth implementation, e-invoicing Malaysia, will be executed in phases based on the revenue threshold of the company.
The implementation of e-invoices began in August 2024, for companies of annual revenue more than 100 million.
For taxpayers with an annual turnover or revenue of more than RM25 million and up to RM100 million, the implementation date is January 1, 2025.
All other taxpayers except the ones whose annual turnover is less than 150 million need to implement e-invoice from July 1, 2025.
4. Penalty:
In Malaysia, failing to issue an e-invoice is considered an offence under Section 120 (1)(d) of the income tax act, 1967. The penalty of non-compliance includes a fine ranging from RM 20O to RM 20,000 or imprisonment for 6 months, or both, for each instance of non-compliance.
5. Benefits of e-invoicing Malaysia:
Tumblr media
a. Digitalizing the reporting process
All the data is stored by leveraging digital tools to create optimized solutions that promote greater efficiency. Thereby reducing chances of error and misinterpretation of data.
b. Enhanced security
Improved security measures to protect against unauthorized entry and potential threats.
c. Legal compliance
Makes it easier to adhere to the law and regulations of the state and maintain the legal standards that are applicable to the business.
d. Increased efficiency and productivity
Getting substantial work done, with the least amount of resources. Both are important for effective time and resource management in any industry.
e. Improved accuracy and compliance
– It helps in being compliant with the state’s laws and regulations in order to avoid any discrepancies in the future, thereby reducing any legal mishaps.
f. Greater cost saving by streamlining the operations
By providing a structured process flow, that includes validation of the e-invoice, any chance of erroneous transactions is highly minimized. This ensures better recordkeeping and ease of operations.
Conclusion:
e-invoicing Malaysia showcases an important step towards modernizing the country’s business and tax processes. As domestic and cross-border transactions are required to maintain electronic billing, the system improves compliance, reduces manual errors and results in improved efficiency. Implementation is in phases based on the revenue thresholds. This ensures a smooth transition by adhering to the regulations and thereby, avoiding penalties. e-invoicing Malaysia, offers multiple advantages such as enhanced security, cost savings and streamlined operations. These advantages allow businesses to maintain a strong framework and optimize their financial management. All this, while being tax-compliant. We at Lenorasoft, through our custom solution, Anusaar, through e-invoicing Malaysia, aim to align with Malaysia’s efforts for a transparent, efficient and digitalized economy.
