just a list of random headcanons that i should probably write more about but i tend to throw at people when i ramble . now i have a place to save them when i want to elaborate more .

i . claire gets anxiety at going extended periods without reassured contact , this stems from the accident with her parents . due to this , if she can’t get hold of someone she considers close she will most likely turn up at their place or try to track them down .

ii . claire’s feather necklace was a gift from chris on her eighteenth birthday .

iii . claire’s favourite genres of music is rock and metal , it was her father that got her into the genre by playing tapes in the car .

iv . claire really does not like people joking about offing themselves or being offed and it will make her really angry . it is another thing that steams from the accident with her parents .

v . claire tends to keep her own trauma and concerns within , choosing to try to be sunnier and lighthearted for other people because it helps her feel better too . she will always feel guilty when her feelings become a priority .

vi . claire is very good at flirting with a cool temperament but as soon as things get serious she is easily flustered and embarrased .

Hey, this is random, but like congrats on trying to learn how to drive. It took me like two years and three exams to get my license, bc driving is hard, so it's really cool that you're trying! And idk, just wanted to say that it's fucking hard and you're epic, solidarity shizzle xp

Oh thank you! To be honest I've been efficiently procrastinating getting my permit for the last twenty years, based on the fact that I'm in a big city with decent public transport, and also based on the old joke that gays don't drive. (using gay as an umbrella term here). Mostly, driving seems scary, and classes are expensive.

Then 2020 hit, and during the first couple of weeks, it was almost impossible to leave the house, and the only people who got to do that were people with cars. They could just leave and spend a day in nature. Imagine, trees.

Then my family got sick. It was terrible to feel this powerless, I couldn't even get them the meds they needed. So after that, I started my classes online. (lemme tell you, theorical driving classes in a pandemic when the teachers haven't mastered Teams yet, and they spend half the alloted time telling a bunch of 17 years old to turn their cameras on, is an experience.)

So here I am, almost 40, downtown Montréal at night, learning how to make stops while a lady with a russian accent holds the wheel and tells me to watch out for ambulances.

May 2020, sitting on the porch, I tell my brother that when all this is over and conventions start again, we'll go on a road trip. February 2023, I get up at 8AM on a Sunday for my next class, and I think about that road trip. I'm terrified, but the idea of freedom is even stronger than the fear. Imagine not needing to ask anyone for a lift.
