Hi Mr Loveless, how does one make friends and hold onto them? I have so many friends who I call friends but they don't seem to remember I exist unless I am in their faces, in their inbox, it's never them approaching me.
Do I have to always be a bother to be acknowledged? Am I missing whatever it is that makes everyone accept zero interactions between friends for months as normal? Am I wrong to expect minimal effort from friends, like they imply, that they're not obligated to do it and it's insensitive of me to feel upset about being forgotten? That's not how it is for those who my friends call Their friends. It's not like I have different politics or can't understand their discourse either.
I'll be 25 next week, my friends are all too busy or haven't checked in in weeks or even replied more than an emoji. I'm frankly worried there's something wrong with me I'm never going to be remotely a priority to anyone but my family.
i've been where you are, and trust me when i say that i know how soul-crushingly lonely it feels when you wonder if you'll ever be the most important person in anyone's life, but here's the thing: that's insecurity, and it never goes away, but it's also not a true reflection of your reality. even the most joined-at-the-hip lifelong friends (or family, or lovers) won't be each other's top priority 24/7 for their whole entire lives - and that's a good thing! that level of commitment is a demanding, exhausting, and frankly nightmarish. there will be times when you are the centre of your friends' worlds and they're yours, and you'll feel like you've never understood someone and been understood in turn so perfectly. and there'll be times when you're on totally different pages; perhaps you won't speak at all for weeks, months, or even years. you might speak for the last time one day without knowing it. you might spend the rest of your lives in each other's orbit. the future will always be uncertain, and borrowing grief will never change that.
that's the bigger picture, however, and probably not particularly helpful to your immediate situation. i can sympathise with feeling like you're always the one initiating contact and never the one being sought out, and i know exactly how unwanted and unappreciated that can make you feel. it's worth keeping in mind that if your friends are receptive to you reaching out to them, however (even if only in the form of a very basic expression of acknowledgement like an emoji), then they probably do genuinely appreciate and enjoy your friendship. it's entirely possible that they're just currently in situations where they have less energy and time to devote to considering that you might not have anyone checking in on you the way that you do for them. unless they're all psychically linked, it's highly unlikely they know that you don't have anyone doing the same for you.
the only advice i can offer you is suggesting that you try to communicate that you'd appreciate more of their attention. perhaps the next time you reach out (if you haven't tried this already), mention that it's been a while since you last really talked, and that you'd love to get together and properly catch up sometime. ideally propose a way for you to connect, either virtually or in real life - feel free to encourage them to set the date, which will subtly hint that you want them to be involved in the process, and make it more of a mutual effort. be on the lookout for opportunities to connect over mutual interests, such as group watching (or listening to, or reading) media you both enjoy, or an event you can both attend, or virtual platforms with an interactive element like multiplayer video games. there's only so much you can do, and it shouldn't be entirely your responsibility to maintain a relationship, but it always helps to try expressing your desire for your feelings to be noticed and reciprocated before listening to the insecurity devil.

Just Dance Care AU!
Ok ok so I thought of a story for this Au but it’s nothing really impactful or full of drama and angst like my other au’s, I wanted to leave this au easy and fun to play around, because, let’s say it. Just Dance and drama in the same sentence makes me laugh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
story and PNG version under the cut!
(I gave up on Y/n design because I couldn't figure out a general look for them. This is you we are talking about! Draw your own JD fit, I'll draw mine soon XD)
Anyway here’s the story so far:
Year 2029, videogames industry made a huge step forward and classic consoles and devices were substituted by the new and upgraded VR headsets with full body tracking. It’s something like the NerveGear in Sword Art Online without the kill switch. Some games still require you to actually move your body (like fitness games or sports because yeah, they don’t have a purpose otherwise).
Y/n wanted to buy the newest VR headset but, while searching for the best offer, they found out FazCo entertainment was hosting a giveaway, the prize? One of their prototypes, a VR meant to be released the next year coinciding with the opening of their first mega pizza plex.
(so the plex doesn’t exist right now). You decide to sign up for the giveaway and after a while you receive an email telling you you won the VR headset and that, to claim it, you need to read and sign a series of NDA policies (understandable, it’s a prototype headset that’s not even in commerce). Some clauses are a little bit concerning but nothing you hadn’t read on other electronics booklets, so you decide to sign. After, like, a day, you have the VR in your hands.
The box let you know with super saturated and colorful writing, that the VR came with a game pre-installed inside. Uh, that’s why they were giving one away, they wanted a free game tester…but you know what, it’s worth it.
You always liked Just Dance games, they make you think about happy memories of your childhood. This pre-installed game called “Five Dances at Freddy’s” is a close copy of your childhood game with original FazCo songs, characters, environments and also some collaborations with other famous artists. It probably will be the cause of a big copyright infringement report.
There are various ways to play it: story mode, Casual dance, Five Dances, and Just Dance Care.
The first one is similar to the casual dance mode but with little cutscenes between a dance and another to tell a tale, Casual dance is how you can play the collab songs, Five Dances is the multiplayer mode and Just Dance Care is a more uhhhh “hard” way to play the game with all the other modes mixed in it. You stare at the description of the last mode smirking and decide to try it first just to see how far you can get before losing (yes you can lose in hard mode in this Just Dance, but you don’t die, you just have to restart from the beginning). Turns out the FazCo wasn’t kidding when they advertised the new headset as a breakthrough in the world of virtual reality headsets, the thing TRANSPORTED you inside the game itself.
You almost have a heart attack when you can’t find your VR on your head, but before you can try something you are blocked by two tall individuals who you think are the “tutorial” characters.
Yadda yadda, tutorial, you can pause the game and exit whenever you need just by opening an hidden menu, you find out your tutorial characters are called Sun and Moon and that you are way worse than you remembered at dancing (damn full body tracking, there is no way you are going to do a cartwheel in the middle of a dance, you still don’t know if your body is inside your home and if you’ll physically feel pain if you fall and you don’t want to find out).
You pass an embarrassingly long time trying to win your first dance battle just to discover it was still the tutorial.
You try to go on with the story but you fail at the first real battle with a bear character named Freddy.
And guess what? You have to start again from the tutorial! Y/n is gonna spend A LOT of time with Sun and Moon if this goes on.

Technomancy: The Fusion Of Magick And Technology
Tumblr media
Technomancy is a modern magickal practice that blends traditional occultism with technology, treating digital and electronic tools as conduits for energy, intent, and manifestation. It views computers, networks, and even AI as extensions of magickal workings, enabling practitioners to weave spells, conduct divination, and manipulate digital reality through intention and programming.
Core Principles of Technomancy
• Energy in Technology – Just as crystals and herbs carry energy, so do electronic devices, circuits, and digital spaces.
• Code as Sigils – Programming languages can function as modern sigils, embedding intent into digital systems.
• Information as Magick – Data, algorithms, and network manipulation serve as powerful tools for shaping reality.
• Cyber-Spiritual Connection – The internet can act as an astral realm, a collective unconscious where digital entities, egregores, and thought-forms exist.
Technomantic Tools & Practices
Here are some methods commonly utilized in technomancy. Keep in mind, however, that like the internet itself, technomancy is full of untapped potential and mystery. Take the time to really explore the possibilities.
Digital Sigil Crafting
• Instead of drawing sigils on paper, create them using design software or ASCII art.
• Hide them in code, encrypt them in images, or upload them onto decentralized networks for long-term energy storage.
• Activate them by sharing online, embedding them in file metadata, or charging them with intention.
Algorithmic Spellcasting
• Use hashtags and search engine manipulation to spread energy and intent.
• Program bots or scripts that perform repetitive, symbolic tasks in alignment with your goals.
• Employ AI as a magickal assistant to generate sigils, divine meaning, or create thought-forms.
Tumblr media
Digital Divination
• Utilize random number generators, AI chatbots, or procedural algorithms for prophecy and guidance.
• Perform digital bibliomancy by using search engines, shuffle functions, or Wikipedia’s “random article” feature.
• Use tarot or rune apps, but enhance them with personal energy by consecrating your device.
Technomantic Servitors & Egregores
• Create digital spirits, also called cyber servitors, to automate tasks, offer guidance, or serve as protectors.
• House them in AI chatbots, coded programs, or persistent internet entities like Twitter bots.
• Feed them with interactions, data input, or periodic updates to keep them strong.
The Internet as an Astral Plane
• Consider forums, wikis, and hidden parts of the web as realms where thought-forms and entities reside.
• Use VR and AR to create sacred spaces, temples, or digital altars.
• Engage in online rituals with other practitioners, synchronizing intent across the world.
Video-game Mechanics & Design
• Use in-game spells, rituals, and sigils that reflect real-world magickal practices.
• Implement a lunar cycle or planetary influences that affect gameplay (e.g., stronger spells during a Full Moon).
• Include divination tools like tarot cards, runes, or pendulums that give randomized yet meaningful responses.
Tumblr media
Narrative & World-Building
• Create lore based on historical and modern magickal traditions, including witches, covens, and spirits.
• Include moral and ethical decisions related to magic use, reinforcing themes of balance and intent.
• Introduce NPCs or AI-guided entities that act as guides, mentors, or deities.
Virtual Rituals & Online Covens
• Design multiplayer or single-player rituals where players can collaborate in spellcasting.
• Implement altars or digital sacred spaces where users can meditate, leave offerings, or interact with spirits.
• Create augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) experiences that mimic real-world magickal practices.
Advanced Technomancy
The fusion of technology and magick is inevitable because both are fundamentally about shaping reality through will and intent. As humanity advances, our tools evolve alongside our spiritual practices, creating new ways to harness energy, manifest desires, and interact with unseen forces. Technology expands the reach and power of magick, while magick brings intention and meaning to the rapidly evolving digital landscape. As virtual reality, AI, and quantum computing continue to develop, the boundaries between the mystical and the technological will blur even further, proving that magick is not antiquated—it is adaptive, limitless, and inherently woven into human progress.
Tumblr media
Cybersecurity & Warding
• Protect your digital presence as you would your home: use firewalls, encryption, and protective sigils in file metadata.
• Employ mirror spells in code to reflect negative energy or hacking attempts.
• Set up automated alerts as magickal wards, detecting and warning against digital threats.
Quantum & Chaos Magic in Technomancy
• Use quantum randomness (like random.org) in divination for pure chance-based outcomes.
• Implement chaos magick principles by using memes, viral content, or trend manipulation to manifest desired changes.
AI & Machine Learning as Oracles
• Use AI chatbots (eg GPT-based tools) as divination tools, asking for symbolic or metaphorical insights.
• Train AI models on occult texts to create personalized grimoires or channeled knowledge.
• Invoke "digital deities" formed from collective online energies, memes, or data streams.
Ethical Considerations in Technomancy
• Be mindful of digital karma—what you send out into the internet has a way of coming back.
• Respect privacy and ethical hacking principles; manipulation should align with your moral code.
• Use technomancy responsibly, balancing technological integration with real-world spiritual grounding.
As technology evolves, so will technomancy. With AI, VR, and blockchain shaping new realities, magick continues to find expression in digital spaces. Whether you are coding spells, summoning cyber servitors, or using algorithms to divine the future, technomancy offers limitless possibilities for modern witches, occultists, and digital mystics alike.
Tumblr media
"Magick is technology we have yet to fully understand—why not merge the two?"

As for myself, I never backpacked through Asia, and of course I've never done a medical residency, either.
I was a Second Life content creator around 2008-2012, which is itself pretty rare.
In Second Life, especially in those years, there wasn't a clean division between "playing the game" and "making the world," and there wasn't a clean division between "content creators" (including businesses) and "players." And the whole thing was funded mostly by privately leased plots of virtual land as server space.
Back in 2007, under liberal technological optimism, there was still this sense that everyone would own and learn to properly operate their own PC, which is to say a 'real' computer like a desktop or laptop, rather than an 'appliance' computer like a smartphone or tablet. Though the platform was privately held, Second Life embodied this thinking.
And so it possessed this immense feeling of power and control. You could click on a rock and drag it around. If you had good device operator skills, you could search out and purchase a supply of copiable rocks and assemble a little volcano lair and exotic beach house on a sandy beach as your home.
At first, almost all items were assembled within the game, and only textures made externally. Gradually this shifted to the use of external 3D modelling tools such as Blender, but for a time, this meant that much of the act of product creation was in the world, as in people would be logged in making the product in front of you and you could chat with them while they did so.
And of course, this world attracted people that for some reason were willing to lean to this kind of detached embodiment. Some were queer, or trans, or neurodivergent. Some were of ill health, or crippled. Others were in some sense very 'in their own heads,' or just well-adapted to simulated or virtual-reality environments. (Does that sound like Tumblr? It's probably not a coincidence.)
It was a world with a very different axis. Your appearance was a function of your aesthetic taste, your device operator skill to search out and assemble and compose an outfit, and only a modest amount of money. Someone with a very high-grade appearance would also be someone that's decently good with computers. For those with programming aptitude, their gadgets or products around them (or for sale at their store), would illustrate it.
And for creators, there was overlap between the ability to 3D model a car, and the ability to 3D model clothing. A creator could be a maker of tanks and also have their own fashion line - or even unique personal outfits. (Even hobbyists with more modest abilities would customize and kitbash - and creators would sometimes set things up specifically so that they could do so.)
There was a sense of whimsy. Cultural norms, too, though of course all massively-multiplayer systems will develop their own etiquette. (Gender could be fluid - the same player might have a stock of both male and female bodies and outfits depending on the context in which they were to be used and the message they wanted to send.)
The problem with Second Life is that you cannot live there.
Yes, it's a low-dimensionality construct like all video games. It lacks scent, and temperature, and touch. Its avatars have far fewer bones than a human body does, and of course, no organs. Its low dimensionality is why it can be changed and molded like clay, into fantastical forms that could never exist in real life.
But more importantly, children live in real life. And if you're injured or sick and can't get up, someone needs to come retrieve you in real life.
The platform turned out to be relatively useless for major corporations and universities. It didn't transform the economy and add trillions to the GDP, and virtual land didn't become the wave of the future - although digital currency did, for a while.
Instead, this failed vision of the future created a flourishing of creativity and human connection, and as time passes, it's becoming clear that the reason is because it was so earnest and very much the thing that it was. (There is value in things which are not perfect, but which are very much themselves, and are good at being the thing that they are.)
On the financial side, it was still operating at a profit when I checked the numbers several years ago. As part of its portfolio, the company seems to have leveraged digital currency operations based on their built-up competency in that sector - as in payment processing, not cryptocurrency.
And what do people write about Second Life now, in 2023? Well, they write about the fashion. About the continuing culture of small-time creators, allowed to work within the framework that was created for them all those years ago. About the platform remaining a steady source of background income for people with jobs in the games industry, notorious for its high turnover.

Sword Art Online
Created by Reki Kawahara
Sword Art Online is one of my favorite anime. It is about a multiplayer virtual reality game that turns deadly when players find they have to play to win or die and are unable to leave of their own free will. This is my first time doing an analysis, diving into the themes presented in SAO. Some themes I think are relevant to issues that affect Japan and worldwide are escapism from reality and moral dilemmas surrounding technology.
Escapism
The anime explores themes of escape and the fallout that occurs when users get stranded in SAO's virtual environment. This is similar to social problems in Japan and other countries, where people turn to virtual places for solace or escape from work-related stress or social expectations.People can abandon their boring lives, take on heroic roles, and set out on heroic adventures, feeling liberated and empowered in a way that they might not feel in real life. An example was when Kirito found out his sister was actually his cousin and he was adopted, it caused him to isolate himself from his family and get attached to games. He played SAO to avoid confronting his family and his issues. Many people, globally, use escapism to remove themselves from reality when things get challenging or distract themselves from their own life.
Tumblr media
Moral Dilemma
There is a moral dilemma surrounding the use of technology in this anime. Each player must manage life-and-death circumstances in the game, which presents ethical challenges. It carries a lot of weight and pressure to make the right decision which can decide if you stay trapped in the VR world. This reflects widespread worries about the moral ramifications of technology, including the obligations of creators and the influence of video games on mental health. It can also cause a distortion of their sense of reality. It is very common for people to equate their success with their internet activities with their own self of worth which will ultimately affect their mental health. Sword Art Online gave great introspection of themes that many people struggle with.

I have this running theory about the next big Nintendo console. I think they are going to expand on the switch model a little bit more with a few peripherals that allow new methods of play.
They’re going to keep docked and handheld mode of course but I think that the technology has progressed enough since the virtual boy that it’s time they try again with VR. I think they’ll make a headset you can pop your switch into. They already started experimenting with this with LABO, which wouldn’t surprise me if that wasn’t a sort of “market test.” Nintendo isn’t going to make a Legend of Zelda or a Mario game as their VR release title, they are the champions of creating safe, comfortable environments when they’re first introducing a new concept (think of the “playground” they gave us to explore moving in three dimensions with super Mario 64), and too much movement in their first VR title is going to make people sick. You know what’s the most still and comfortable game Nintendo has ever made and have for some reason neglected for twenty years?
Nintendogs.
I think they’re going to give us VR, and coddle our scared little brains afraid of change by going “here’s a puppy!” It’s a game where you basically stand perfectly still and interact with puppies, what could be more basic and soothing? Except for one portion, and that’s taking your Nintendogs on a walk. How are they going to manage that you ask? The headset comes with a camera, Nintendo DS style. Augmented Reality. They already started experimenting with that with the Mario Kart Live Home Circuit! We’re all going to walk around out neighborhoods in our big stupid headsets, joy-con leashes in our hand, and it’s going to be Pokémon Go 2.0. There may even be a multiplayer functionality where you can see and interact with other people’s Nintendogs you meet out on walks.
After we’ve all gotten used to this new tech, they’re going to start releasing bigger titles for VR/AR. They’ll start with Pokémon I believe, because again, it’s a MASSIVE title that has declined in popularity over the years and they’ll want to revitalize it by letting you interact with your favorite Pokémon IN THE REAL WORLD?? You can battle other trainers on walks! You can go out and catch Pokémon in your neighborhood! It’s gonna be what what we actually wanted Pokémon Go to be like!
I have no doubt if Nintendo did this that we’d all start foaming at the mouth and bankrupt ourselves trying to get our hands on it. It would pull virtual reality out of this current cultural space where it’s both really fucking advanced and interesting, and also subsequently associated with crypto bros and mark fucking zuckerberg. They’d make VR games your grandma would feel comfortable playing. What else do you think they’d do with this technology?

CFV VRMMORPG AU
Alright strap in lads we are going for a ride.
What’s this AU about?
in case you don’t know, VRMMORPG stands for Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game
it's basically a fully immersive MMO you play with a headset on, where you can create an avatar and customize your appearance
think like SAO (but don't, because that anime is rubbish and I can do better)
The whole AU is slice-of-life turned mystery story set in the near future, with a bit of a futuristic cyberpunk vibe.
Most of the characters don't know each other in person and meet in the titular VRMMORPG that we will just call "Vanguard" to keep it simple.
There is a lot of identity porn stuff, because I love that stuff.
It centers the G cast, but of course the OG cast are there as mentor figures and they drive a lot of the plot too. The G kids are around 16, and the OG cast are 20 or older.
Not to spoil, but the company creating Vanguard, Suzugamori Inc., is kinds shady, and people related to the game start going missing at some point...
The Cast
Shion Kiba - basically the main character, though there are multiple POVs. It's the first time he feels like he fits in, since he's under a lot of pressure in his day-to-day life as a rich heir, going to a prestigious private school. He forms a team/guild with Tokoha and Chrono when he meets them. At some point, Shion encounters a mysterious legendary player named "Crimson Reaper" who becomes his mentor. Though Tokoha and Chrono don't believe he exists for the longest time. Shion starts getting involved int he conspiracy behind the game when his beloved "Crimson" goes missing.
Chrono Shindou - when he first logs into the game, it glitches and Chrono randomly unlocks a brand new class and avatar that has not been released to the public yet. This causes quite a stir in the game, since he actually didn't hack anything, so the game admins decide to just let him keep the class and just involve him in promotions, much to the chagrin of admin Ibuki. Chrono turns out to be a natural at the game as well. And now he can finally make some real friends!
Tokoha Anjou - a veteran player who feels very pressured to succeed since her older brother is a famous player and streamer who actually got hired by the company behind Vanguard to become part of the promotional team. She created a new account to try one of the newer clans and make a name for herself. When she realizes that neither Shion nor Chrono know who she is, she begins to open up to them and becomes willing to form a team with them, but only if they aim for the very top.
Notes
I'm still trying to figure out everyone's pseudonyms! Not everyone's avatar cards make good screen names...
Mamoru is definitely "Blademaster". Chrono will be "Chronovisor". Ibuki will probably be "Alter Ego". And I'm thinking "BlossomBlight" for Tokoha? You get the vibe.
There's some fun mystery stuff. We got hackers, we got some undercover police, we got teenagers solving internet conspiracies on their own...
Also: I will create a very elaborate system for the game classes based on the CFV units, clans and archetypes. This will dramatically increase the workload for this AU. I have no self-restraint!

Edge AI and AR/VR: Enabling Real-Time, Low-Latency Immersive Applications
As augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies mature, the demand for real-time, highly responsive, and immersive experiences has grown significantly. Whether it's in gaming, healthcare, industrial training, or virtual collaboration, users expect seamless and lifelike interactions that feel instantaneous. However, achieving this level of performance requires more than just advanced graphics and display hardware—it also hinges on processing data quickly and efficiently. This is where Edge AI emerges as a game-changer, bringing artificial intelligence capabilities closer to the user and enabling the kind of low-latency experiences essential for next-generation AR/VR applications.
Download PDF Brochure @ https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/pdfdownloadNew.asp?id=1185
Edge AI refers to the deployment of AI algorithms and models directly on edge devices—such as smartphones, AR/VR headsets, and IoT sensors—rather than relying solely on centralized cloud servers. By processing data locally at the edge, latency is drastically reduced, bandwidth requirements are minimized, and privacy is enhanced. For AR and VR environments, where real-time responsiveness is critical to preserving immersion and avoiding motion sickness, Edge AI offers a practical solution that meets both technical and experiential demands.
One of the most impactful benefits of Edge AI in AR/VR systems is the ability to perform real-time object detection, environment mapping, and spatial understanding directly on the device. Using computer vision models running at the edge, devices can instantly recognize and interact with physical surroundings, allowing AR applications to seamlessly overlay digital content onto the real world. This is particularly important in mobile AR experiences, where the user may be moving through complex environments and needs the application to respond fluidly to changes in perspective, lighting, or motion.
Edge AI also plays a pivotal role in enabling realistic avatar interaction and gesture recognition in VR. With local processing power, headsets and controllers can analyze hand movements, facial expressions, and body posture in real time, translating them into accurate and expressive actions in the virtual space. This not only improves immersion but also facilitates more natural social interactions in virtual meetings, multiplayer games, and remote collaboration scenarios. The result is a digital experience that closely mirrors real-world communication, made possible through the immediacy and intelligence of AI at the edge.
Another critical application of Edge AI in AR/VR is in performance optimization and power management. Processing AI workloads locally allows systems to dynamically adjust rendering resolution, track user gaze, and prioritize resources based on contextual needs. For example, foveated rendering—a technique where only the area of the screen that the user is directly looking at is rendered in full detail—relies on rapid eye tracking and intelligent prediction algorithms. By performing these functions at the edge, devices can maintain high visual quality while significantly conserving computational resources and battery life.
Edge AI also enhances data privacy and security, which are major concerns in AR/VR applications that collect sensitive information such as biometric data, location, or personal preferences. Since data is processed locally, users retain greater control over their information, reducing the risks associated with transmitting large volumes of data to cloud servers. This makes Edge AI particularly valuable in enterprise and healthcare environments, where regulatory compliance and confidentiality are essential.
The growing availability of powerful edge computing hardware, such as NVIDIA’s Jetson modules, Qualcomm’s XR processors, and Apple’s Neural Engine, is accelerating the integration of Edge AI in AR/VR systems. These platforms are designed to support high-performance AI inference while maintaining energy efficiency and compact form factors—ideal for wearable devices like AR glasses or standalone VR headsets.
Looking ahead, the convergence of Edge AI and AR/VR is poised to redefine the boundaries of immersive technology. As edge devices become more capable, and AI models more efficient and specialized, we can expect a new generation of AR/VR applications that are not only more responsive and intelligent but also more inclusive and accessible. From real-time translation and smart navigation to autonomous training environments and adaptive entertainment, the possibilities are expansive and transformative.
