I came across this silly snipet today, from a folkish blog (you can make fun of it in the link, because there are surely more silly things in there to snark and jeer at:)

As a woman who frequently has problems with gut, and sometimes, even with period pain, the last thing that I would have the concentration for during labour would be plaiting threads together. All of my energy while I am having pain in my guts, dealing with acid relux, and deficating on the toilet etc is stoping myself from throwing up. I don't have the mental capcity to even think of crafting while I'm dealing with gut pain and acid reflux, so this is just another daft myth. I'm sure that women who have gone through labour would agree.
