You stared into the full-body mirror, nervousness, happiness, and other raging emotions swirling within. You never felt like this, but here you, trying not to sweat your pits as Ronnie turned you over to look at her.
“Careful, I don't want to stick you.” She muttered, sewing a small tear right on the side of your dress.
“I'm sorry, Ronnie. I didn't mean to zone out on you.”
She waved her hand, digging through a sewing kit and getting right to work. “Nah, don't be. It's a big day for you. I don't blame you for being all up in the clouds and jittery.”
You reared your head back at the mirror and beamed harder. You couldn't believe this momentous event was happening; you simply couldn't.
You were getting married.
You were getting married to your star, your forever, your everything: Miguel O'Hara.
Twisting the engagement ring, you peered at the shining stone. Ronnie grinned, finishing up the last final touches on it. “And here we are.”
Staring at yours and Ronnie's reflection, you both dawned the same sparkling smile, eyeing the dress in admiration. The dress was beautiful. The flowing skirt embroidered with tiny stars and daisies, the slight puffy sleeves, the V-neck showing just a bit of cleavage.
It was wonderful, considering that it is an expensive dress as well.
Ronnie was given this dress by some model who, in a pretentious manner, gave it away along with other clothing because ‘she didn't want to be caught dead with them.’
When Ronnie did research, the clothes were worth tens of thousands of dollars, having her to hoard them away from the public eye.
“But now, since this is technically a very special occasion, I want you to wear and have this.”
You recalled denying her over and over. You couldn't accept a very extravagant item, especially if it was one of her most prized possessions. Yet Ronnie's persistence refused to give in.
She badgered you and even got Miguel to jump on the bandwagon when he saw how it complimented your figure. Even taking notes on the little designs adorning it.
You did give in by the third week, when Ronnie was standing in front of your apartment one morning holding the dress up to her chest. You were grateful for Miguel being up that early, or you would've tossed her out of your window. She threatened to sneak in and put the damn thing on in your sleep, and you didn't want to take her up on that offer.
Then you got an actual good look, and the rest was history.
“Doing okay?”
“Hm? Uh, yes. Think the jitters are getting to me.” You raised your arms when Ronnie instructed you to do so.
“You're not planning on trying to pull a runaway bride on us, are you now?” She inspected for any other tears or loose strings. “Because if you are, let me come. I don't want to be there when Miguel inevitably freaks out more than usual... Or maybe I'll have Peter record it.”
You couldn't say you were baffled by your friend's train of thoughts, but it still never managed to have you taken aback because of how thoughts chugs along up there.
“No, Ronnie. Besides, my body wouldn't even take two steps before I'm sprinting right back to the altar. I love that man too much, and cold feet aren't an option.”
“That man does seem to have a magnetic pull.” She pinned a part and placed her hands on her hips. “And there we go. You are all ready to go.”
“I'm getting married, holy shit, I'm getting married, Ronnie. What the fuck, what the fuck? Are they ready? Is he ready? Please tell me I have more time to get my shit in order.”
Your boss pulled out her phone before swatting your hand away from your hair, scolding you for trying to mess it up. “I worked on that.” She punched in several numbers, and you listened to the phone ring.
“Do you think he's nervous? Or is it just me? I think it's only me; it has to be me? Right, right?” You crossed your arms and tapped your foot rapidly. “What if he's calm and I'm the nervous one? It's only me!” You started to pace the room, fanning yourself to not get overly sweaty.
After the fourth ring, someone picked up, and Ronnie heard shuffling, then a frantic voice speaking in Spanish at a hundred words per second in the background.
“Calm- Miguel, calm down; it's—yes, I know... No, she won't have cold—go, go sit down! Just relax. Hi, Ronnie. Is she ready to go?” Peter's held a strain in his tone as Miguel continued panicking in the back.
“About to ask you the same thing. Is he freaking out as much as she is?” Ronnie looked at your worn state, then back at her phone.
“I'm trying to get him to calm down. He said he's scared if she gets cold feet or if he gets it. I told him he would turn and run straight back to the altar if he tried to do a runaway groom. And he agreed.”
Ronnie snickered and sighed out. “Sounds about right. But she's ready; they're both wrecks, so that means they're good to go.”
“I don't think that means they are ready, Ronnie.”
“They are. Find a way to get him in the car, and we will see you two in five.” She hung as Peter tried to sputter one more thing, but Ronnie wasn't having you and Miguel drag this day on.
“What did he say? He's not ready? Good, grand, I get to relax here for a bit longer.”
“Nope, he's ready. Let's go.”
You and Ronnie had a showdown. You were wanting to do this, but there was something gnawing at your skin and bones. You couldn't figure out why you were so anxious. Leading up to this day was all fine and dandy. Everything was in order, and you both agreed on how the day would go with relative ease.
Like how you both originally wanted to do a Catholic ceremony, but you didn't necessarily have the right resources. With your mother and father watching the celebration by phone, due to your father's chronic fear of flying, you two didn't really want to go through all those steps. When Miguel explained the steps, your head was caught in a whirlwind, and even with your own research on how to minimize it, it made your head throb. So you settled on simple vows and allowed the officiant to do their thing.
And the guest list was a breeze to make, even if you both knew the consequences. It made sense for Peter to be the best man and Ronnie to be your maid of honor. You didn't mind Peter's wife tagging along too; you both needed some balance between the two. Short and simple. The way you two wanted it.
Then the next thing you slightly dreaded: your mom and dad.
When you announced the news to your parents about the engagement, they immediately video called wanting to interrogate Miguel. You tried to prevent any form of physical call, only wanting to stick to messages, but Miguel eased you to the idea that talking to them would've been a better option. You did give in, but it was an immediate regret.
“Why are you so big? Do you do steroids?”
“What the hell, dad?”
“Don't talk to your father that way. Now, what's your income salary?”
“Mom!”
“What? I need to make sure he can provide.”
“Occupation?” Your dad stepped more into frame.
“I'm, uh, I'm retired, sir.”
“Doesn't answer my question.”
“Geneticist, sir.”
“Yeah, I don't like him. No scientist needs to be that built.”
“I just searched how much a geneticist could make, and he's retired at a young age? He's good-looking man, smart, and in shape? Good pick. I like him. When are you having children? Keep him because I want beautiful grandbabies!”
You wanted to evaporate into the air.
“You like him for all the wrong reasons. What are your intentions with my daughter? Do you want kids? Where did you meet her? What are your political thoughts? How much has she told you about us? Why haven't you called us to tell us you've been seeing this man-?”
You hung up and slumped your body on the table.
“Now I see why you only message them instead of calling.”
You gave it a few more days for them to settle down, and it helped. It didn't take long for your mom to love him, to the point where she preferred to talk to him more than you. Your dad did eventually warm up to him, more so when he learned that Miguel was actively trying to seek out your brother to surprise you at the wedding. Your dad accidentally let it slip a couple days before the wedding, stating Miguel is now his new son and how Barkley was a coward for hiding away.
Miguel confessed that he was struggling to find him; even with his old fancy HQ gizmo, it was as if he never even existed. He did feel undoubtedly terrible, and you hugged him, thanking him a million times for going out of his way for a surprise that would've been amazing.
To help bring the mood back up, you treated him to his favorite restaurant and then came back to the apartment and proceeded to ride him until you both were seeing stars.
Needless to say, you pushed everything to the back of your brain to solely focus on Miguel, the wedding, and nothing else.
Everything was running smoothly, minus MJ not being able to show up due to catching a virus, so there wasn't going to be any middleman that you and Miguel craved. And Ronnie wasn't helping by forcibly dragging you out to the car. The glimpses of passersby didn't help as Ronnie gave them all a thumbs-up that this wasn't a kidnapping, and you were safe before gently shoved you in the passenger side. Your leg bounced the vehicle, wishing that the botanical garden was halfway across Nueva York.
“You're going to tilt the car if you keep moving your leg like that.” She slid in and started up the engine and pulled off the curb.
“I'm sorry, Ronnie. I don't know why I'm feeling this way.”
“Marriage is a big thing. Committing your life to someone who is willing to go through the ups and downs with you and vice versa. Well, unless you're my cousin.”
Your face bunched up at that. “Why do you say that?”
“She's been married about seven times in the span of five years. She was more worried about the weddings than the actual guy she was getting with.” Ronnie said. “Always keeping up with her needs, barely inputting what the man may want. Every time you saw the groom, they always seemed so dead, tuned out, or going along with it to prevent her from blowing up over the simplest of issues. Kind of sad, so seeing someone excited to be with the person they truly love is refreshing.”
Your lips curled upwards. It was joy that was amplifying all those emotions that were raging inside. The one that was outshining the rest.
Ronnie parked and hopped out of the car and dashed to your side and opened it for you. She moved her head around like a vulture, scoping out for the others. Only a few cars preoccupied the other spaces, but she didn’t see the car Peter was taking. You stepped out with her help and pointed out that the officiant was here.
“Hey, we got fifty percent. I see that as an absolute success so far.” Ronnie took your hand, and you two made your way under the pergolas. “You know this would be a gorgeous shot.”
“I'll make sure to tell Peter. I hope he remembered to bring his camera.” When scouring for a photographer, you learned that Peter was one, and he recommended himself to do all the pictures and photo edits.
You accepted his offer but didn't know how the payment was going to work with him being from another dimension. You questioned if it was like another country where you could exchange your currency for theirs. Or if future money would affect the past. They assured you that it should be okay, and if it doesn't, you and Miguel would pay in babysitting Mayday.
“Where the heck are Peter and Miguel? I swear if he did do a ‘runaway groom,’ I'm going back for my bat!”
You had to pause and grab her by the shoulders to not freak yourself out. “Ronnie,” you began through a tightened jaw and forced smile. “Let's go in and meet the officiant. Remember, if one of us shows up first, we can quickly make sure things are in order. Two, Ronnie. Please. Don't.”
The woman was a bit shaken by your calm yet frightening demeanor. She nodded her head, taking the time to realize stressing you out wasn't the best idea. You continued on as she watched you pull your phone out and dial for your parents. You were immediately met with bombarding questions and what took you so long to call. Your eye spasms, and you were forced to give them a stern talking and practically told them to behave themselves, or you will have Ronnie keep them silent throughout the entire ceremony.

You greeted the officiant, who was settled on one of the splattered painted benches. She thankfully gave an update that Miguel and Peter were on the way, leading you and Ronnie to the entryway to get checked in. There was an employee there if anything went awry or you simply needed help.
“I need to freshen up, please. Ronnie, stay here if they come. Can you show me where your restrooms are?” Your hands fidgeted with the puffs on your sleeves. The officiant decided to go with you in case you needed more assistance.
Ronnie mingled with your parents, her and your mom squealing how you were marrying a “hunky hottie,” while your father didn't make a peep. Ronnie's phone vibrated in her back pocket. She grabbed it and cupped the screen. It was Peter. She excused herself from your mom and dad and muted them so they wouldn't start raising questions on why the groom isn't there yet.
“Where the hell are you two?” Ronnie hissed.
“We're in the parking lot. Had to help Miguel from sweating up his dress shirt too much.” There were two doors being shut. “Where is she? Is everyone here and ready?”
“Yes, now hurry up—you slow bastards!” Ronnie hung up and hurriedly called the officiant to make her way back.
When she got there, your boss handed the phone to the officiant and made her way to where you and the employee were.
“Can I talk to her alone, please?” You smiled at the employee.
“Of course.” They shuffled out of the restrooms and into the outside.
“Letting you know now, I'm not afraid to tackle you down if you try to run.” Ronnie checked behind to make sure the counter was dry and leaned on it.
“Did you manage to get a glimpse of him?” You peered at your reflection, giving yourself a final inspection, inside and out.
“Nope. I think I was making my way here when they came in.” She inched over and rested her hand on your shoulder. “You look lovely, by the way.”
The corner of your lips quivered up. “Thank you, Ronnie.”
“Of course.” She laced her arms around your torso, weary about not wrinkling your dress. “You know I have a sixth sense?”
You huffed a laugh. “Do you now?”
“I sure do. And it's saying that life with him will be a path that's full of wonder and wander. Full of winding and unwinding roads. You know all that good crap.”
“I wouldn't say it like that.”
“And you're going to march down to that archway, talk about how much you mean to one another, and get married.”
“I was going to do that from the start; it was never going to change, Ronnie.” You scrunch your face. “Was this a motivational pep talk?”
“In a way. I was buying time so they could get into position.”
You sighed out, ready to touch your hair to relax, when Ronnie smacked your hand away from it once more. One more look at the mirror, and you dazed into your own eyes, then smiled.
“Okay, I'm ready.” You linked arms with Ronnie and headed out to a welcoming sunbeam.
Miguel was steeled to the ground. His palms were sweaty, but he didn't want to wipe them. He eyed Peter, who gave him a thumbs-up, and then the officiant, who simply offered a smile.
The flowers decorating the arch were the same from the first time he shared a kiss with you. He fiddled with the marigold pinned to his shirt and made sure it was not damaged. Checking in the direction you were supposed to come, his mind drifted to subconscious thoughts, praying that nothing was off or if his breath smelled (he made sure to brush and gargle three times).
Before he could go any deeper, you and Ronnie emerged in full view.
Miguel couldn't breathe. He stared as you made your way to the archway, the sun, and the flowers, always adding on to your already mesmerizing glow. Every step was elegant, and his heart pounded the closer you got to him. There was no one else in the world besides him and you.
You didn't want to seize up, but Miguel in his suit and the floral around him brought you back to the first time you ever came here. The first time he was open with you, the first time you shared your kiss. The start to where you are now.
Extending his hand, you happily took it and drifted as close to him as you possibly were able to. You saw Ronnie take back your phone and make her way over to her side with a skip in step. Taking his free hand, you rubbed the back of it to soothe you both. “You got this. Lo conseguimos.”
“Gracias, mi Luna.”
“You two ready?” the officiant asked.
You signaled for her to begin.
“We are gathered here today on this lovely day, surrounded by one of nature's many beauties of the earth, to celebrate the love and the bringing unity of Miguel and Y/n.”
Miguel felt his eye twitch and wiped at it before going to the other.
You tried to stop the tears from leaking, but they did anyway. Time was slowing down, the officiant's words getting lost and fading into the back. It was only him.
“Eres hermosa.” Miguel mouthed.
“Eres hermoso.” You mouthed back.
The shared fondness ran deep. You wanted to stroke his face, so you squeezed his hands tighter. Miguel didn't want to wear his sunglasses because he wanted you to see every emotion. You didn't want him to strain himself, but he was insistent. With that, you checked the weather almost every day for a partly cloudy day to wed on.
You gazed up to a perfect blend of the sky blue and the white fluff lazily covering the sky from time to time.
You zoned back in when the officiant began the declaration.
“I would say take each other's hands, but you both already have that filled.” The officiant cheesed. “Now, do you promise to choose each other every day, to love each other in word and feed?”
“We do.” You and Miguel nod.
“Do you promise to recognize one another as equals and support one another in your goals and wishes for the future?”
“We do.”
“Do you promise to always share your thoughts, feelings, and concerns with the other and be open and honest at all times?”
“That means no ‘thinking’ you're okay or insisting. You have that habit.” Ronnie sputtered out before pressing her lips into a thin line when all eyes were on her. “Uh, sorry. Pretend I didn't say anything.”
You huffed out a strong gust of wind and shook your head at your friend. Miguel chuckled and stole a quick kiss on your temple. “I'm here for you.”
“I know, thank you.” You grinned, and you both proudly said, “We do.”
“Miguel, you may now share your vow.”
“Mi Luna, where do I begin?” He shook your hands. “When you came into my life, it was something I never was expecting; it was a path that I thought I couldn't cross, and yet you proved it otherwise. When you allowed me to open up and gave me that space to be myself, it was all so unfamiliar. But whenever the sun and moon drifted into the horizon and the skies, or were hidden by the weeping clouds, you were there with your compassion and understanding.
You made each day feel simplistic; each minute I am around you is an eternity of peace and love that I never want to end. Thank you. Thank you for giving me a chance to want to learn and grow; thank you for showing that there are people who want to be by my side,” he paused to acknowledge Peter, Ronnie, and the direction of the HQ. “That there have always been others who have been there.”
You brushed the corner of your eye, trying not to smear your makeup.
“Mi Luna, mi corazón, mi vida. Thank you for letting the marigolds and lavender pop up. Thank you for showing me these connections and values that lie beneath, waiting to grow. Te amo y nada cambiará eso jamás.”
The officiant gave you the say to recite your vow.
“You big, loveable oaf.” You laughed and sniffled. “That night we crossed paths; I wouldn't have known what was going to happen. I had days of questioning and wondering, asking myself, ‘Is all this real? Is this amazing man before me actually real?’ And yet, the more and more we got to know each other, the more I felt like I've known you for most of my life. I thought of the future with you. I want one with you. You bring in this tenderness and sentiments that always bring these connections whenever you're around.
“The day you asked me to be your wife was a dream that fell from the light. I had to stop myself from pinching myself because if it were a dream, I wouldn't want to wake from it.”
The night he proposed is something that'll forever have a fond place in your memories.
He brought you to the park after cooking up some cinnamon waffles and playing one of the early albums you got for him. He insisted it was only for nostalgic purposes and that he only wanted to do it on the fly. You held your suspicion, and it didn't ease it when he took you out to the botanical garden and the restaurant you first ate at for dinner. You probed him with question after question until Miguel had you relax. Giving in, you leisurely went along and enjoyed the rest of the evening.
The last stop was the park. The moon was out, and a few stars were stagnant in the sky. You sat on a bench and snuggled up next to one another, loving each other's presence when Miguel made you close your eyes. He stopped you from interrogating and had you comply. You listened out for any sounds when Miguel's voice sounded far away.
He sat across the other bench and stared right at you with those hypnotic eyes. You laughed and pointed to your own and uttered, “Crimson?”
He smiled and placed his hands in his pockets before making his way to you. He stood there for a few seconds, the orange from the streetlights and the ivory moon competing to be his spotlight. And that's when he got on one knee, and you immediately started to sob. You couldn't recall the speech (he had to retell it when you had to sedate your mind), but you remember saying ‘yes’ repeatedly.
“I love you, mi Estrella. I want to walk on that path with you. Even if it gives us twists and turns, I want to remain by your side through it all.” Your hands were getting wet, but neither of you cared.
“You have shared your vows, the promises and love that will still flourish and blossom onwards. We witness and bless your vows for the lifetime of your marriage. May I have the rings?” The officiant turned to Peter, who handed them to her. “Thank you.”
She gave you and Miguel the rings and eyed the etched crescent moon on the inside. And on his was a star. The officiant gave the ring exchange speech to be repeated. You noticed his hand trembled when you looked up to see tears rolling down from his cheeks. Even if it was tiny, the smile was radiating, and you couldn't help but return your own beaming one, drops streaming down to your chin.
“I, Miguel, give you, Y/n, this ring as a symbol of my love, my faith, in our strength together, and my covenant to learn and grow with you.” He placed the ring on your finger, fighting the urge to kiss your hand.
The officiant looked at you and had you recite.
“I, Y/n, give you, Miguel, this ring as a symbol of my love, my faith, in our strength together, and my covenant to learn and grow with you.” You slipped it on and gave a quick peck to his ring finger. “I'm sorry. I, uh, I couldn't control myself.” You tittered.
“That's okay.” The officiant winked. “Before these witnesses, you both have sealed your pledge with these rings. By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife; you may now kiss the- oh.”
Miguel swept you off your feet into a kiss that he put his all into. The sun warmed your skin, and so did Miguel. Your hands grazed his cheekbones, his nose, whatever your thumbs could touch.
You were officially married, and the butterflies fluttered inside.
Going to sign your name on the certificate, you caught Miguel staring keenly at the paper.
“Mi Estrella? ¿Estás bien?”
“Yeah, I'm just... in disbelief I get to have someone as you as my wife. That I get to have this chance at a better life.”
“Of course you deserve it, Mi Estrella. And I will never stress that enough.” You scratch his back when Ronnie yells for you to come over.
“You have other people to blab to.” She hoisted the phone to your face, to your mother gleaming in the camera and your father having a fixed glare.
“We are so proud of you!” Your mom clapped before shoving the phone in your dad's face. “Stop looking like that! You'll add more damn ridiculous than what you need. Say something to our daughter.”
“I'm glad that you are my son. Visit. Soon.” You knew that was more of a demand than a request.
Miguel draped his arm over your shoulders and pulled you in closer. “Thank you. And we will, we promise.”
“Come on, you lovebirds. Let's get some pictures!” Peter waved his camera around, and Ronnie clapped her hands.
Peter had you two posing around the garden. He was really good at it, having you both feel relaxed and natural surrounded by nature's landscape. The officiant even took group photos of you four, and Ronnie had taken many bad selfish or gorgeous off-guard ones; there was never an in-between with her. You were given the opportunity to freely roam the garden and reminisce about the beauty when you first came here.
You didn't think it was possible for your heart to swell more, but it was proven.
“I'm proud of you, you know?” Peter patted Miguel's back. “Still ways to go, but you'll get there. Especially with her on your side.”
They glanced over at you and Ronnie chattering away with the officiant, and Miguel was in awe at you. You always managed to hold a presence that made others feel warm, even if you weren't trying.
“Thank you, Peter. Thank you.”
The three flocked to Peter and Miguel, and you immediately shuffled over to Miguel's side and held his hand.
“So, we're getting food, right?” Ronnie patted her stomach loudly. “Because I can go for something right about now.”
“We did book a small section for the Asian street food restaurant.” You chimed in. “Would you like to join us? It'll be on us.” You asked the officiant.
“I would love to join, but I have another wedding to head to tonight. And I'm going to need all the rest for that one. But thank you for the offer. I wish you two nothing but these best.”
You all said your farewells to her, thanking her one final time, and watched her leave.
“Alrighty. Any more pictures you guys want to take?” Peter held up his camera.
You shook your heads in unison, your own stomach growling, indicating you're ready to chow down. You all made your way to the cars and down to the restaurant. Being greeted and checking in, you four were seated in a private booth area with barely any noise from the rest of the establishment.
Ordering an array of foods to share, Ronnie recommended for everyone to order a drink to make a toast for you and Miguel. You agreed and got a nice fruit cocktail, and Miguel stuck to a simple glass of red wine.
“This is the part where Peter and I give our thoughts and stuff.” Ronnie raised one of her rounds of shots filled with sake. “I'm going first, so Peter, you have to try and find a way to follow mine up.” She downed the drink and wiped her lips.
“I admire you both. The dedication you give to each other is insane. The way you two interact makes it seem like you have already been together for so damn long. I will never forget the day you walked into my little shop; you were so uncomfortable as hell.”
“You ogled at me for almost a minute.” Miguel piped up.
“She did what?” You almost gave yourself a crick in your neck to look at Ronnie.
“But the moment my great employee, my amazing friend, came up to the front, I could immediately tell how smitten you were for her.” Ronnie grabs another shot. “Even though you were wearing your sunglasses, you didn't need to see to know. Then, as the days went by, the further love between you was wild. You two made each other comfortable and wanted. An absolute.” She downs the drink.
“Basically, what I'm trying to say is, you two are in love, and no matter what you'll face, no matter how big or little, or how the outcomes may come out, you will see the light within each other.” Another glass.
Your heart fluttered, and Miguel reached for your hand. “Ronnie, thank you; that was beautiful. You're going to make me cry.” You had to get a napkin to dab at the corners of your eyes.
“Thanks. Cause I certainly know there will be lights being seen on your honeymo-”
“And now it's my turn. Certainly don't know how I could top that, Ronnie.” Peter shakenly laughed. “I'll try to make it short and sweet, because I'm starving.” He bought his wine glass close to his face.
“Miguel, I could talk about the first time you let it slip about missy over here or how you were freaking out on what date to take her on.”
You giggled at that and nudged the abashed man.
“But I'm going to say what I haven't said before: you are making your future with a person you love; continue to write your story and look back whenever you need that pick me up.” He tilted the glass toward you. “And I know you're going to let him tell his story, one page at a time. I'm so proud of you, and I will never stress that enough.”
“Gracias, Peter. Gracias Ronnie.” Miguel said.
“Thank you two for being here for us.” You added in and beamed.
Clinking your drinks together, the first round of food was brought out, and you guys began to chow down. You and Ronnie watched in astonishment with how much Peter and Miguel tore into the meals; even a couple of staff members were wide-eyed. Peter stayed until desert, heading back home to not keep his sick wife and child abandoned too long. Bringing you both in a bear hug, you said your goodbyes when you had to excuse yourself to answer a phone call from your parents.
Miguel kept his eyes on your figure when something jostled him out of it.
“Heya, business partner.” Ronnie plopped right by Miguel, checking to make sure you were out of earshot. “How is he doing?”
Miguel gave a side glance and leaned back with his arms crossed. “I'm not even going to entertain what you're about to say.”
Ronnie gave a hardy laugh and pretended to wipe some tears away. “Miggy, Miggy, Miggy, always the ones with the great jokes.” She sighed out and patted his back.
The man creased his brows at your friend. He still doesn't understand how you two get along, but he tries not to question it. He decided to wait and see what she had up her sleeve for her to be acting this way.
“Yes, Ronnie?”
The woman cleared her throat and sat up straight. “Right, no need to butter you up; you're happy and married to the love of your life, my girl. You know, Y/n.”
Now Miguel was severely lost. He had no idea where she was heading, and frankly, it frightened him some. Anything was possible when it came to Ronnie, but he was going to give that ear.
“Ronnie?”
“Okay, for real, jumping to the chase.” She sipped her cocktail and smacked her lips. “I saw the way your eye twitched when the officiant said her name. Like, sort of, how should I say? Realization?”
Miguel had to keep his composure. He swore he played it off well. “I was trying not to get too teary-eyed from the start.” To Miguel, that sounded like a reasonable explanation; no need to go further into details. And yet, he knew this was Ronnie he was dealing with.
“Okay. Fair.”
He was shocked; it actually worked for her.
“So why the hell were you looking at the certificate with a thousand-yard stare? And don't tell me it was because you were in awe and got to marry her.”
He blinked.
“Yeah. I overheard that. So tell me… why?”
Miguel was begging you to come back any minute. He was in a frenzy, needing to find some sort of new response. No matter what he pulled out, they all were ridiculous. A voice being cleared jolted him back into reality.
There he was met with a very smug Ronnie.
“You never knew her name.”
Miguel didn't say a word. The silence screamed out, and that's when she slapped the table.
“I knew it! It made sense why you would never say her name. I thought it was this endearing thing with the nickname, but no! That was never the case.” Ronnie glanced back and went right back to Miguel.
He was embarrassed. His face hidden behind his face in full fledged shame. “Do not tell her. I'll never be able to live it down if she finds it.”
“Oh my God, holy hell. You went through hell and back; you're living with her; you put a ring on it, and you never once bothered to try and learn her fucking name?”
“Ronnie, por favor! I beg of you, please don't bring it up.” His voice was at the lowest it could go; his cheeks flushed.
“Oh, I won't.” Ronnie said.
Miguel exhaled greatly and leaned back in the booth. “Gracias, Ronnie. I feel like an idiot for never bothering to learn. No puedo creer que realmente hi-”
“Unless you do something for me.” She folded her hands on the table.
“I should've known. I should've known better.” Miguel mumbled and dragged his hands down his face and sighed loudly. “Are you seriously about to blackmail me? You know that's illegal.”
“You call it blackmailing; I call it investing in a long-term business.” She swept her hand in the air, stars in her eyes.
Miguel wondered if it wouldn't be too bad if you knew he didn't exactly learn your name. He started to weigh the pros and cons when Ronnie tapped the table.
“I will give details on what I would like in return soon enough. I do want you to enjoy your day with your lovely wife.” She gestured to you strolling back in with a giant grin and sparks when you saw Miguel.
“So what were you two chatting about?” You slid next to Miguel and snuggled your body on his.
“How good the meal was and how you two are very much made for each other.”
You were slightly lost, but chalked it up to Ronnie being Ronnie. After leaving the restaurant and Ronnie stealing one more photo of you two on her phone, she drove you two back to your apartment, where you and Miguel slumped on the couch.
“So, Mr. O'Hara?” You scooted over to him.
“Yes, Mrs. O'Hara?” He wrapped his arm around you.
“How about we get out of these clothes?”
“Mhm.”
“Take a nice, long, steamy shower.” You rubbed his chest.
“Mhm?” He took your hands and kissed them.
“And get some rest?”
“Yes, please. Having to endure Peter and Ronnie's nonsense was a lot,” he smiled and put his lips to your ring. “But I would do it over and over, knowing I would get to marry my moon and relive this day.”
“Wouldn't you rather do it once so we can make new memories for the future?”
He chuckled. “Is that your way of saying you wouldn't want to be stuck in that loop?”
“... Maybe.” You gave a cheesy smile and leaned in to kiss him. “I love you dearly, mi Estrella.”
“Y te amaré por siempre, mi Luna.”

I regret overtly "putting aside Elmer’s tendency to be sidetracked with aforementioned ‘smile projects'" when writing that speculative post a while back on what theoretical impact Huey's request for Elmer to "remain the same" actually had on Elmer's quest for a universal "Happy Ending." I ended up imbuing Huey's request with much more import than I thought it actually possessed, which undermined that of Elmer's "tendency" in the process.
In practice, Elmer's sidetracking is the obvious direct / immediate impediment to Elmer's envisioned (universal) "Happy Ending." Elmer is the Gamer™ who takes forever to finish a game's main storyline because he keeps accepting side quests and pursuing them to completion.
On that note, @toushindai once wondered if there’s something to the fact that Bride and Elmer both like video games. I suspect the stimulation of dopamine may be of relevance to both, considering Bride’s drug use and Elmer’s extreme childhood maltreatment. Both impact the brain’s dopamine system; drug use decreases dopamine function, causing drug users to seek out ‘hits’, while childhood trauma & stress damages the brain (pp. 58–59) and its dopamine system during development. Bride and Elmer may be chasing after ‘dopamine hits’ via video games...
...just as Elmer gets his fix through other people’s smiles. Addiction, thy name is sabotage.
The most damning (ha) case in point for Elmer is, of course, his deal with the (so-called) devil c.f. 1711/12, as depicted in Volume 5.
It’s within that volume that Elmer famously declares "for the sake of a happy ending, I’d sell everyone in the world to the devil without a second thought.” This is the man who not only met the devil c. 290 years prior, but was offered the chance to be granted “some sort of power.”
Elmer could have wished for the power to give everyone a Happy Ending—but, when presented with the "demon’s” face, what does he do? He asks the demon to show him a smile. He wants his fix, he has his fix, and so it goes, and so goes his chance to sell everyone in the world to the devil.
Or, at least, his chance to give the devil a really good marketing pitch as to why he should purchase the souls of all humanity for the price of a Happy Ending. Elmer is the sort of person who would do that, in theory, and perhaps he would have—had Ronny kept his face concealed. Lucky for us that the devil has a vain streak, eh?
Now, to Elmer’s credit, he does think over Ronny’s offer for a little while before he makes his request; it would be uncharitable to consider this a case of “Elmer’s ‘addiction’ winning out’ and not a potential case of Elmer’s cleverness at work. In meeting the devil and thus becoming assured of his existence, Elmer has one more entity to pencil in on his Happy Ending ark’s passenger list. How can he be sure that the devil won’t miss out on his own happy ending if they make a deal? If the devil can’t smile on demand, then Elmer has quite a bit of work to do before everyone’s happiness can be assured.
To Elmer’s additional credit, his amended wish—that Ronny accompany Maiza until Maiza and hopefully Ronny also can smile—is definitely not a wish with an immediate reward. It’s not even a wish with a ballpark ETA. Granted, Elmer is already experienced in patient addiction via Huey; if he can wait on Huey, he can certainly wait on a demon. One might even go so far as to call his amended wish a two-smiles-with-one-stone strategy; he throws a stone at Goliath and Goliath’s summoner a few centuries in advance with the intention of eventually collecting on the devil’s debt.
You know, when the devil has been softened in his old friendship. Great time to unleash the marketing pitch, right? Let’s renegotiate that deal with the devil business. Elmer is the special sort of person who would take the devil smiling as a sign that the person has gotten the better end of the deal. Anyone else might think, Uh oh, I’ve made a mistake, but no, Elmer would thank the devil and say “since you’re in a good mood now all according to keikaku”Pst, you wanna buy humankind? All it’ll cost is one Happy Ending” and at that point the devil is the one thinking uh oh, I’ve made a mistake!—
—Ahem.
"Or perhaps” Elmer really just can’t resist a smile and squandered his deal with the not-a-demon-or-devil because look, the guy’s face was right there, can you blame a Junkie? Something something dopamine. Repeat eternally ad nauseum every time Elmer comes across a mini-Elmer or, heaven forbid, the heretics who are so unfortunate as to be smileless in his line of vision. Never mind that the majority of the smileless population are only temporarily smileless, never mind that!
(Someone ultra-charitable might entertain that Elmer’s “sell the world” declaration was one said by an older and wiser Elmer, an Elmer who in retrospect regrets not having sold humanity to the devil when he had the devil’s ear. Elmer, older? Absolutely. Elmer, wiser? ... Elmer, regrets? The fellow just reaped Maiza’s smile, thereby confirming the devil kept up that part of the bargain. How can he regret a high when he’s still riding it? He’s probably recalculating the probability of seeing Ronny’s smile with this new information. Oh, you’d like to ask him once he’s come down; well, he’ll be busy chasing his next high, but let’s see what we can do—pencil in regrets from September 2002 to September 2002, squeeze in your meeting for 200X assuming he is still alive...)

the chosen daughter // colby brock - chapter twenty-one
A/N: i can't believe it's been four months since i last posted. it doesn't feel like it was that long ago. sorry about the long wait, everyone. hopefully this very eventful chapter makes up for it. i promise to get the next one out sooner rather than later. let me know what you guys think ! see you next time and enjoy :)
story description
trigger warning: violence, fighting, uncomfortable/creepy behavior, cursing, club scene, drinking, mentions of blood, vampire powers, manipulation
word count: 4952
~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I woke up in the morning after leaving work early, I was exhausted. My anger from last night was still very prominent. I knew I couldn't go back in today. The idea of seeing that bar, or Roger, or Ronnie... I could feel my blood boiling.
I needed a night off. I needed a night to just have fun. Go crazy, relax. Pretend that danger didn't exist around every corner.
“I want to party tonight.” I stated abruptly, walking into the apartment, and shoving my bag down.
Tara gazed up at me, her eyes widening. “What?”
“I want to party tonight. Like, here, at the Trapp Haus.” I repeated.
Kat sat up quickly, her mouth dropping. “Really? Oh my God.”
I furrowed my brows at them jokingly, “What's that reaction for?”
“We’re just surprised. You don't exactly scream 'partying type'.” Tara admitted.
“Well, tonight I am.” I scanned the rest of the apartment, “Kevin?”
He called from the kitchen, “Yeah? What's up, Jade?”
“Have you had your second human night already?” I asked, stepping towards him.
“No, it's next week. Why?” He answered.
I batted my eyelashes overdramatically, “Can you please make it tonight?”
“Jade wants to go crazy.” Kat chimed in from the couch.
He rolled his eyes but smiled, slowly walking towards the apartment door. “...Give me five minutes, I'll tell my connections to tell everyone.”
“Thanks Kevin!” I yelled, watching him walk down the stairs.
“Now, what do you plan to wear?” Tara questioned, strutting up to me.
I huffed. “...Shit. I haven't really ever bought club clothes before.”
“No need to worry, I have a dress that I think will look perfect on you.” Tara requested over her shoulder, “Kat, can you do her makeup?”
Kat nodded. “Of course.”
I puzzled. “Makeup?”
“Just a little. You're gonna look so hot, Colby's gonna have to kill all the guys in the club.” Tara joked.
Kat hummed, getting off the couch and grabbing my hand. “And he probably will anyway.”
~\/\/~
“Jade, are you ready?” Tara shouted from outside the bathroom.
“Yeah, give me a minute.” I responded.
After hours of saying I wanted to party, the time had finally come. Kevin was nice enough to give everyone the night off, including Colby. He bumped up security so that they didn't need to be on high alert. So, everyone was ready to party. And I was too.
I think.
I cocked my head from side to side, staring at myself in the mirror. I looked nice, I guess. The red dress Tara had given me surprisingly fit. It was just a bit short. But I weirdly didn't mind it. I needed this dress tonight. I needed to let loose and have fun. That was the whole point of this night.
I just need to take a couple shots and I'd be golden.
I finally stepped out of the bathroom, glancing around the apartment. Tara and Kat picked their heads up, looking at me. Their eyes widened, their smiles bright. “Holy shit, Jade! You look gorgeous!”
Sam and Jake turned to me, a surprised look coming to their faces.
Sam glanced over me, “Wow... Jade. You look really...”
“Hot.” Jake grinned.
Tara smacked Jake's arm hard, a loud wince falling from his lips. “Jesus, what was that for?!”
“You're just so smackable sometimes,” Tara jeered, her attention turning back to me. “How do you feel?”
“I'm okay. A little nervous. Haven't worn a dress in... a very long time.” I noticed we were missing a couple different people, “Where's the rest of XPLR?”
“Kevin is already in the VIP section, and Mike has been out all day, but he'll be here later if he isn't here now,” Kat informed, and then nodded towards the stairs. “And Colby... is coming up right now.”
“Are you guys finally ready to par-” Colby's eyes landed on me, snaking up and down my body. I raised an eyebrow at him, and in the blink of an eye he was in front of me.
I giggled at his expression, “Hi.”
“Hey. What... are you wearing?” He gazed down at my body, cupping my hips.
“Tara is lending me it.” I explained.
Colby bit his lip, nodding his head. “Oh, thank you Tara.”
“You're welcome.” Tara snickered.
“I don't think you can leave, though.” Colby continued.
“What? Why?” I pouted.
“I don't know if I can let you leave this apartment with that dress on.” His icy blue eyes landed on mine, his voice low, “I think I have to take it off first.”
A blush rose to my cheeks, a tiny gasp falling from my lips. "Colby."
“Did I tell you that you look beautiful yet?” He whispered, getting close to my face.
I shook my head, biting back a smile, “No.”
“You look beautiful.” He pecked my lips sweetly, taking my breath for a moment.
“Alright lovebirds, you ready to go?” Sam queried.
“Yeah, we're coming.” Colby slid his leather jacket off, slipping it over my shoulders. “Here, wear my jacket.”
“But I'm not cold.” I argued.
“He's just trying to cover up your scent a bit.” Tara turned to Colby, “You shouldn't worry about her smell. There's plenty of humans in the club.”
“As if that's the only reason someone would come up to her.” Jake mumbled, leaning away from Tara as she went to smack his arm again.
Colby kept me close as we slowly left the apartment and entered the club. The music hit me hard, the thumping of the beat making me want to move my body. Kevin waved us over, his eyes landing on me as he whistled. “Damn, Jade. Look at you. Gorgeous as ever.”
“Thank you Kevin.” I laughed.
“Woah,” Mike looked me over, “You're actually kinda hot, Jade.”
I narrowed my eyes at him, “And you're still kind of a dick, Mike.”
Kat chuckled, “Where the hell have you been all day, anyway?”
“Just busy.” He shrugged.
“Alright, alright. Enough of the semantics. Here's a shot for everyone.” Kevin belted over the loud music, passing out the shots.
I whined sarcastically, “No chaser?”
“Chasers are for pussies.” Mike remarked.
I quipped, “You mean the thing you don't get?”
Mike feigned hurt, clutching his chest, “Ooh, you burn me, Jade.”
“Bite me Mike.” I hissed.
Mike smirked, his mischievous eyes staring into mine, "Cheers Jade."
Kevin yelled, clinking his glass with ours, "Cheers everyone!"
~\/\/~
The night was beginning to blur after the three mixed drinks had settled into my system. I kept people watching occassionally, staring down at the club dance floor. I really wanted to dance, but Colby wouldn't.
I glared at Colby, sighing loudly. “You're so lame, you know that, right?”
“For not dancing? No, it would be lamer if you saw my dance moves,” Colby grabbed his drink, taking a sip. “Or... lack thereof.”
“We’ll go with her.” Tara smirked, “Don't be a loser, Colby.”
Mike suddenly spoke. “I'll go down with them.”
“What?” Kat, Tara, and I questioned.
He chuckled, “I said I'll go down with you guys. I need to stretch my legs anyway. This booth isn't made for 6'4 tall people.”
I didn’t try to argue, even though I was confused about Mike. “Alright, I now have three bodyguards. Am I okay to go down? Not to mention that there is no way anyone, Rinaldi or Max, could have gotten in without us knowing.”
Colby paused, and then nodded his head. “Yeah, go ahead. I'll watch from up here in case.”
I beamed, kissing his cheek quickly as Kat grabbed my hand, following Tara and Mike down the steps of the VIP and going out onto the dance floor. The song changed into a more upbeat dance track, and the crowded club intensified. I started swaying my hips, Tara and Kat following suit with me. I let my body move along with the music, closing my eyes. A moment later, I felt someone close to me. I opened my eyes, expecting Tara or Kat. But my eyes landed on Mike's tall frame. I stopped, staring at his face. He grinned, shimmying his shoulders to the song. I held back a laugh, never seeing him dance before.
His ears caught my laugh, even through the loud music. "What? We can't all be good at dancing like you, Jade."
I raised an eyebrow at his comment, “I'm just surprised. Didn't see you as the shimmying type.”
"I do a good two-step sometimes." He side-stepped back and forth. I followed his lead, mimicking his dance. Suddenly, he grabbed my hand and spun me.
I stumbled, grabbing his arm, “Oh my God, don't do that! The world is already a little spinny.”
“What? You've only had three drinks. How adorable, you're a light-weight.” He glanced over my body again.
Was he… flirting with me?
I gasped, swatting at him. “I'm not a light-weight! I just haven't drank in a while.”
“That's why you gotta be like me. Drink every day, and you never have to worry about being a light-weight.” He sang.
I teased, “I think you have a problem, Mike.”
“Yeah, maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm eternally 24.” He deadpanned, getting close to me again.
I shrugged, stepping back. “Could be.”
“All this talk about drinking has really made me thirsty. I'll be right back.” He pointed towards the bar.
I watched Mike walk away from us, and I slowly turned to Kat and Tara. “What the hell was that?”
“What?” Kat puzzled.
“Mike was... actually nice to me.” And may have flirted with me…
Tara’s mouth gaped open. “Oh my God, hell must have froze over.”
I rolled my eyes at her. “I'm just so surprised. He's been a dick to me since the beginning. Why change now?”
“Maybe he's finally starting to come around to you,” Tara commented. “Maybe he realizes that Colby actually cares about you, and he just needs to accept you ain't going anywhere.”
“He was a rude to me when I first met him and Kevin.” Kat reassured.
I cocked my head, “Really?”
“...No,” She frowned. “But maybe Tara's right. Maybe he's just trying to be friendly.”
“I don't know...” My voice trailed off.
“Well, don't harp on it too much. This is your night to enjoy.” Tara cheered over the music, “So shake some fucking ass!”
~\/\/~
After a couple hours of coming on and off the dance floor with Tara, Kat, and Mike, I was starting to get tired and needed to be away from the club. Most importantly, I needed to take off my heels and switch into literally any other shoe.
“Where is everyone?” I asked, glancing around.
“Kevin's making sure the bars are still stocked, Kat and Tara are people watching with Sam and Jake, and Mike... went to the bathroom, I think.” Colby mentioned, leaning into me.
I smiled drunkenly, wrapping my arm around his shoulder. “How are you doing, babe?”
He snorted, looking me up and down. “I'm doing good. You and Mike seem to be having fun.”
“I needed this night. So fucking bad. But I forgot the worst thing about going out.” I huffed, ignoring his comment about Mike.
“The drunk people, the shitty music…” He leaned in close, “your terrible boyfriend not dancing with you?”
I shook my head dramatically. “No... the heels.”
“Oh right, how could I forget?” He sassed.
I slid my arm off him, dragging my body across the booth until I was out of it. “I'm gonna go up to the apartment and put on some sneakers or something.”
“You want me to come with you?” He inquired.
“No, I'll be like five minutes.” I went to leave, stopping abruptly to turn back to him. “Also, you're not terrible for not dancing with me. I expect you to pay me back though.”
Colby’s eyes gazed into mine alluringly, “What would you like as payment?”
I leaned in close, our lips almost brushing. “…I'll take cash.”
He sucked his teeth, sitting back into his seat. He glared lightly at me, “Just go change your shoes.”
I walked into the back office, heading slowly up the stairs. By the time I got to the apartment door, I already had my heels off, groaning in pain. I stumbled into the apartment, and Mike suddenly came out of our bathroom, surprising me.
I exhaled, dropping my shoulders. “Oh shit, you scared me.”
“Sorry.” Mike replied quietly.
“What are you doing up here?” I questioned.
Mike scoffed. “The bathroom downstairs is disgusting.”
I blinked. “Couldn't you just pee outside?”
“Do I look like a dog?” I opened my mouth to respond, but Mike shot me down. “Don't answer that. Why are you here?”
“Well, I do kinda live here. And also, I wanted to change out of my heels. My feet are killing me,” I chucked my heels by the door, walking towards the kitchen. “But first, I'm in dire need of some water.”
He raised an eyebrow at me. “You could have gotten some downstairs.”
I sighed. “Yeah, but I just kept forgetting to order some.”
I ripped open the fridge door, grabbing a water bottle quickly. Mike slid between me and the counter, the front of his body brushing against my back.
I cleared my throat. “You could have told me to move.”
“My bad.” He jumped onto the counter, sitting down. He fixed the buttons of his sleeves. “Tonight was a lot of fun.”
I hummed, smiling. “Yeah, and the night isn't even over yet. You know, I kinda actually like you being nice to me.”
“And I actually like being nice to you.” He admitted.
I fake-gasped. “Who would have thought that?”
I took a long sip from the bottle, resting my back against opposite counter. Mike's eyes stared down at my wrist, his face scrunching.
“Your bracelet doesn't match.” Mike noticed.
I furrowed my brows. “What?”
“Your bracelet doesn't match your outfit. You're in a red little number and that's black.” He stated.
I snickered. “Are you giving me fashion advice, Mr. Only-Wears-Black?”
“Well at least everything matches.” He crossed his arms smugly.
“Next time I'll tell Sam and Colby to make me a customizable bracelet.” I remarked.
Mike’s face perked up. “Oh, is that the one that alerts everyone? I’ve never seen it.”
I nodded my head. He pointed at it, "Can I?"
I slid it off, handing it over to Mike. He fiddled around with it in his hands, gazing down at the button.
“It's cool how it tells everyone where you are. I just get a notif on my phone.” He revealed.
“Yeah. I don't know how it works, but Sam is so smart for coming up with it. Well, technically Colby came up with it, but Sam created it.” I half smiled.
“Team effort,” he mumbled. “Here you go.”
I reached out for the bracelet, but Mike dropped it before I could grab it.
“Oh damn, my bad.” He laughed.
I shrugged. “It's no problem, I'll just-”
Before I could bend down, Mike jumped off the counter, crushing the bracelet under his boot. My body froze, a mixture of anger and worry coursed through me.
Mike’s tone changed, his voice no longer sounding friendly. “Shit. Shouldn't have done that either.”
I stammered, trying to play off my fear. “W-why did you jump off right then? I was reaching for it!”
“Guess I don't know my own strength.” His cold eyes landing on mine, “Besides, it's not like you need it.”
“Well now Sam and Colby need to make me another one. In the meantime, what if I'm in danger?” I rambled.
He turned his head to the side, eyeing me. “Do you feel like you're gonna be in danger soon?”
Yes. "No, but who knows what could happen. Max and Rinaldi could show up."
“You know they aren't the only danger you could face, right?” Mike closed the space between us. “There's a club downstairs full of vampires. They could come up here and attack you.”
“But you're here. You wouldn't allow that.” I asserted, narrowing my eyes.
He chuckled, his voice too gentle, “Of course not. Colby would be so pissed off if you got hurt.”
My heart picked up pace at the sound of Colby’s name. “Speaking of, I think I'm gonna head back down to the club.”
“You kinda need shoes to enter the club.” Mike jested.
Fuck me for taking my shoes off.
“I’ll just put my heels back on. I got to rest my feet so I'm good now.” I assured, starting to leave the kitchen.
He shoved his hand down on the counter, blocking me from exiting. He stepped closer. I pressed my body into the counter, trying to keep some space between us. “Why don't you stay up here for another minute? I'm sure Colby can last a little bit longer without you.”
“Mike, what are you doing?” My breath hitched.
“Nothing. I just wanna talk.” He cooed.
I retorted, “Then talk.”
He sighed, inching closer. “Jade, I'm sorry I've been mean to you. I'm just not really good at expressing myself.”
I tried to not roll my eyes, knowing he was lying. “Apology accepted. Now-”
“I'm not done.” He interjected. “Do you wanna know something that is on my mind... right now?”
“Not really, but I have a feeling you're gonna tell me anyway.” I spat, my voice trembling.
“Do you know who I'm really jealous of?” He asked.
Dear Lord above, do not say Colby. "Who?"
“Caleb.” Mike answered.
I finally looked at him, confused. “C-Caleb?”
“Yeah, do you remember him?” He queried.
I swallowed hard. “...I remember his blood splattering across my face when Rinaldi decapitated him in front of me. Kinda can't forget that.”
“Well, I'm actually really jealous of him.” Mike placed his other arm down, completely blocking me from leaving. He leaned in, his eyes never leaving mine. “I'm jealous of the fact that he got to do the one thing I've always wanted to do. Taste... your... blood.”
I exhaled bitingly. “You broke my bracelet on purpose, didn't you?”
A light laugh fell from his lips. “You are so adorable when you're scared.”
In the blink of an eye, Mike's teeth sunk into the flesh of my neck. I screamed out in pain, my pleas cut short from Mike's hand slamming down over my mouth. I bit his fingers as hard as I could, Mike ripping his mouth away laughing. “I love it rough, Jade. You're gonna have to do better than that!”
I kneed him in the balls, a harsh groan falling from his lips. I tried yanking myself towards the farthest drawer, knowing there would be stakes in there. Mike grabbed me by the wrist, spinning me and slamming me into the fridge. His hand wrapped around my neck, holding me against it.
He stared down at my chest, his red eyes devilish. "That necklace is very pretty. Too bad it also doesn't match."
"What are you, the fashion police?" I choked out, clawing at his hand.
"Why don't you tell me about it?" Mike closed his eyes tightly, his hot pink aura appearing and engrossing me. The edges of the aura weren't the same color, a dark red coursed around him. "How did you get that necklace?"
Mike knew his powers didn't work on me. What the fuck was he doing? Was it my blood? Or was it something else?
“Tell me about your necklace, Jade.” He commanded.
“It's my families. It's the only thing I have left of them.” I confessed honestly.
“How sad.” Mike grabbed my wrist, bringing it up to his nose. "God, you smell delicious."
“Colby's gonna kill you when he comes up here.” I snarled, shaking against his tight hold.
He squeezed my throat harder at Colby’s name. “There's not much he can do if you're dead.”
“If you kill me, you can't drink from me.” I challenged, yanking my wrist as hard as I could.
“That's true. What a terrible situation to be in.” He sighed dramatically, “Oh well.”
Mike bit into my wrist, drinking from me slowly. I cried out again, my vision blurring. I shoved my free hand forward, stabbing Mike in the eye with all of my strength. My fake nails pierced through his skin, blood gushing around my fingers. He dropped me, screeching out painfully. I ran, almost reaching the door before being grabbed by Mike. I fought against his hold again, doing my best to throw him off me.
"God, you are so weak. I told Colby you're helpless." He whispered harshly into my ear, menacingly. He spun me around, his one good eye landing on my wound. "I can already feel my powers getting stronger, and I haven't even had that much of your blood. Imagine if I drank you dry."
I begged, fighting against him. “Mike, please don't do this. You don't need to do this.”
"No, I do," Mike ran his tongue against my wound, his teeth just grazing my skin. I held back the urge to vomit on him.
He looked crazed, a mix of his blood and mine running down his face. “This damn necklace needs to come off! It might infect your bite.”
Mike slid his hand up, grabbing the crystal. A shockwave went through me and Mike, a power surging through the necklace and into us, shooting us apart. It launched Mike across the living room, smashing him into the wall. My body slammed into the counters of the kitchen. My body dropped hard from force, my head slamming down on the ground.
~\/\/~
Everything came back to me suddenly. I could hear yelling, a commotion not too far from me. I sat up, my body now on the couch. As my vision came back to me, my eyes landed on Colby being held back by literally everyone. Kevin was holding his arms from behind, Sam and Jake were pushing him into Kevin, telling him to calm down. Kat and Tara stood on the side of him, glaring at Mike, who was on the floor holding up his arms defensively.
“I'm gonna fucking murder you, Mike!” Colby growled, thrashing against Kevin’s hold.
Kevin grunted, “Colby, calm down!”
“I don't even remember what happened!” Mike shouted.
Colby roared, his red eyes narrowing, “Mike, I'll rip your fucking head off!”
I stood up, way too fast, and stumbled a bit. Everyone turned to the sound of me falling into the coffee table. "Colby... don't."
His voice softened, “Jade...”
I staggered over to Colby. Kevin loosened his hold on him slightly, Sam and Jake stepped away so I could get close to him.
I placed my hands on his chest, trying to stable myself. “I'm okay.”
He rebutted darkly, “Clearly you're not.”
“Don't kill Mike.” I stated.
“Yeah Colby. Listen to your girlfriend!” Mike exclaimed, still on the floor.
Colby lurched forward, glaring over my shoulder. I turned to Mike, my eyes gazing down at him.
He stared at me, a look of shock appearing across his face. “I... did that?”
“Of course you fucking did. And you're gonna pay-” Colby started.
Tara interrupted, “Colby, chill for a second. Clearly Mike doesn't remember.”
“Exactly. Thank you, Tara.” Mike replied pompously.
“Shut it, Mike. You’re lucky I don’t kill you.” Tara argued, glowering at him.
“Guys, can you just relax for a second?” Sam chimed in aggressively. “Mike, what was the last thing you remember?”
“I... don't know. I was out, walking around the city, and then...” Mike’s voice trailed off for a moment, his eyes widening. “No.”
“What? What 'no'?” Jake inquired.
“This guy came up to me and told me to attack Jade.” Mike responded.
“What? Who?” Colby fumed.
“I don't know! His face was covered. He said it to me, but I didn't think anything of it,” Mike remembered. “And then... I woke up here. On the floor. With Colby ready to bite my head off.”
“You don't remember attacking me?” I puzzled.
“Not at all. I don't even remember coming to the club.” He disclosed calmly.
“You danced with me, Tara, and Jade.” Kat told.
Mike scoffed, “Ew. I don't dance.”
“That sounds about right.” Tara deadpanned.
“And you were nice to me.” I murmured.
He pursed his lips, “You see, that should have been your first clue something was off. I don't like you.”
“Now's not the time to be snarky Mike.” Colby snapped from behind me. “I'll still kill you for what you did to her.”
“You would really kill me over this? Even though I don’t remember attacking her?” Mike gasped.
“You harmed Jade, you're lucky I don't stake you right now!” Colby’s voice thundered.
I continued. “What color eyes did the guy have?”
“What?” Mike paused, thinking. “I don't know... green?”
My heart sank. “Max's eyes are green.”
“So Max did this? He got you attacked. For what though?” Sam questioned angrily.
Kevin asserted, “Well, it had to be an elder that told Mike to attack Jade. So it was either Rinaldi or Max.”
“Unless there’s a third elder… or fourth.” Jake mentioned, his eyes widening at the thought.
“It had to be Max. The guy was shorter than me, Rinaldi is the same height as me,” Mike disagreed. “I gotta ask though, how the hell did I end up over here and knocked out?”
“We assumed it was Jade, since none of us knew this was happening.” Kevin remarked.
“Jade? You think Jade pushed me into a wall so hard that I broke the plaster?” Mike snorted. “Sounds a little far fetch.”
“Well, what happened then?” Everyone turned to me.
“I... I don't remember,” I lied. “Everything's a bit of a blur.”
“Let's just figure this out more tomorrow. Let's calm down, and get this place cleaned up. I got a club I gotta close.” Kevin glanced down at Colby, “Can I let you go without harming Mike?”
“Yeah, yeah. I'm fine.” Colby exhaled deeply.
I looked over at Kat as Kevin released Colby. “Kat, can I talk to you alone for a second?”
She nodded. “Sure.”
I walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind Kat.
“What's up?” She asked, leaning against the counter.
I swallowed hard, my nerves getting the better of me. “I know what happened, how Mike got slammed into that wall. The necklace did it.”
Kat gaped, stuttering. “What? H-how is that-?”
I shook my head. “I don't know. All I know is... I think it was trying to protect me. Mike tried to rip it off my neck, and it shocked us both back. That's why I was passed out when you guys came up here. The necklace did it. I saw it launch him across the room.”
“Well if it was trying to protect you, why didn't it stop him when he was drinking from you?” She queried.
“I think it only works if someone tries to touch it while it's on me.” I paused, then slowly took it off. “Could you... hold onto it for me? Maybe do some research about it in your spell book?”
She agreed, taking it from me. “Sure. I'll see what's up.”
“It was so weird, I felt this power inside of it come out when it launched Mike.” I added, “While he was attacking me, he asked about it.”
“Really?” Kat uttered.
“He wanted me to tell him about it. He tried to use his powers on me to make me tell the truth about it.” I disclosed nervously.
“That's so weird. He knows that his powers don't work on you.” She stated, shaking her head in disbelief.
“Yeah, but Rinaldi and Max don't know about my abilities,” I affirmed. “If they got Mike to attack me, they wouldn't know his powers don't work.”
Her face dropped at the mention of them. “He thinks it was Max who told him to attack you.”
“I'm not so sure. There was a dark red aura around Mike when he was using his power.” I stared down at the ground, biting my lip, “I think someone else was controlling him.”
A loud yell came from outside the door. I yanked it open, staring out into the apartment. Colby stood in front of Mike, stabbing a stake through him, just underneath his heart.
“Dude what the fuck?!” Mike bellowed.
Colby gripped the stake handle hard, “I don't care if you only hurt Jade because you were forced to do it. I'm letting you know this now that if you ever hurt Jade again, regardless of the circumstance, I will kill you.”
“That's pretty a harsh thing to say to your friend.” Mike argued, wincing in pain.
“You're lucky you're alive right now, friend,” Colby hissed. “I'm gonna go take a walk around the block and try to calm down. When I come back, you better be out of my apartment. And while I'm gone, apologize to Jade.”
Mike protested, “But-”
Colby cut him off, shoving the stake forward an inch more. “Don't fucking argue with me Mike. Say you're sorry and get the fuck out.”
Colby glanced at me, his anger melting for only a split second, and then he vanished out the door.
Mike coughed, grunting as he yanked out the stake. He sat down on the couch, trying to catch his breath.
He gazed over at me, barely looking for a moment. "I'm sorry, Jade. I genuinely didn't know what I was doing."
“It's fine.” I mumbled, crossing my arms.
Mike let out a soft chuckle, rubbing his wound as it began to heal. "I'll try not to kill you next time."
I scowled, annoyed. “How about no next time, fucker.”
YOUR ART TRADEMARK!!!!!! Okay okay I GOT this family.
There are several things that make me go "that's ronni's art 👁👁" and let's start with your expressions??? Oh my god????? You have SUCH a talent for portraying expressions and your art always looks and feels so animated and ALIVE and it makes me so happy every time I see it. Secondly, your linework!!! It's so bold and noticeable and I feel this is a reflection of your personality because it just works so well with how expressive your work is and I feel that YOU are bold and noticeable. Actually your art is just one lovely reflection of your personality. Also the tones?? You set tones SO well through your work and it always leaves me in awe because I can take one look at ANY of your pieces, even original works or works for fandoms I'm not familiar with and know exactly which mood you were aiming for. You nail it every goddamn time and it's genuinely so impressive. Your composition and use of color (and even lack thereof in your greyscale pieces) are something to be admired and you genuinely make everything look so natural, it's unreal. There's a definite confidence in your art and you should absolutely own that shit because it's STUNNING every time.
I could go on forever about how much I adore your art but I'll stop here before this turns into a 10 page essay in MLA format 😂 Needless to say, I love it and you are so frickin talented it kills me and I'm so happy you started sharing it on tumblr!!
~m.r~
Tonight we were to attend a release party for the release of our new album, A Saucerful of Secrets. The title track being the one that Roger had made overtly complicated but the final product of the song was wonderful, especially the end where my vocals came in. The party was booked by our new manager Steve in the conference hall of some hotel.
As exciting as the party was going to be, I had different intentions on my mind tonight. I wanted tonight to finally be the night where Roger and I make love to each other. We've been putting it off for so long, and as much I love him touching me, or sucking him off, I was ready for us to consummate the love and passion we had felt for each other.
"Pup, are you almost done, because—Whoa!" Ronnie stopped herself when she came into my room. I was in the middle of examining myself in the mirror when I turned around to face my older sister. "Holy shit, look at you!"
I knew what I was doing, dressing like this. I wore a red mini dress with a deep neckline and flared sleeves. I wore a pair of matching boots that came up to my knees, and a headband was wrapped around my head. I wanted Roger to see me like this and I wanted to drive him mad. I wanted him to get so driven that he would take me up to a hotel room and fuck me deep and hard.
"Maggie, is it just me, or are your clothes getting shorter and more revealing?" My sister questioned me. She brushed her fingers over the skin above my knee. "Let me guess? Dressed like this for Roger?" She wiggled her eyebrows as I felt my cheeks heat up. "Are you expecting something to happen tonight?"
"I want it to, Ronnie" I admitted to my sister. I turned and looked at myself in the mirror again. I ran my hands over my body as I admired myself. "I'm ready for us to finally make love. I love him so much, and I know when we do, it's gonna feel amazing"
Ronnie was fully aware of the way mine and Roger's relationship was now. She knew that we both deeply loved each other, and she was very supportive of us. She stood behind me and rested her chin on my shoulder. "Make sure you use a condom, alright?" She reminded me.
"I'm on my birth control" I stated to her.
"Okay, but still. Last thing you need is to end up pregnant with Roger's baby, while you're still married to Billy"
"Ronnie, I'm not gonna get knocked up by Roger"
She pat my head. "Not if you use a condom!"
The two of us stepped out of the bedroom. Billy was still in the living room. He was going out with some friends tonight. The moment he saw me, his mouth fell open. "My love, you look absolutely stunning!" I smiled at his compliment. He touched my face and kissed me. When he did, I wanted to pull myself away, but I didn't. "You have fun tonight, my love" He encouraged me.
He was about to leave when I grabbed his arm. "Billy, are you gonna be home tonight?"
"Probably not" He tilted his head and grinned at me. "Worried about being alone when you come home, my darling?"
Darling. It didn't sound right when Billy called me that anymore. Only Roger could call me that. "I think I'll manage"
"I love you" He told me.
"I love you too" I spoke back as if it were an automated response. Billy bid my sister goodbye as well, before he was out the door. I stared blankly at the door.
"Pup, you've gotta divorce him" Ronnie placed her hand on my arm. "I can see how unhappy you're becoming with him"
"I am going to divorce him" I said quietly. "It's just not time yet, y'know?"
Ronnie frowned at me. "Well, when is it going to be time?"
"Just drop it for tonight, will ya?" I snapped at her. God, what was with everyone telling me to divorce my husband?
...
We arrived at the hotel and I could already hear all the chatter of the people who were already gathered in hall. I was hoping Roger was already here. Ronnie had her camera hanging from her neck, all ready to take some pictures. "Can you believe it, Mags?" Ronnie said to me. "You've made an album! And it's an excellent one, might I say"
We stepped into the hall and immediately I could spot Steve. He was speaking with an older gentleman. Ronnie and I approached them. "Maggie, there you are!" Steve said to me as we joined them. He looked at my sister. "And you must be Veronica, right? Our trusted photographer?"
Ronnie smiled. "Most importantly, Maggie's older sister! And please, call me Ronnie. You must be Steve, the new manager" The two of them shook hands. "Pleasure to finally meet you!"
"And you as well" Steve smiled at her. "Maggie, Roger has been looking for you. Keeps nagging me about if I've seen you"
"Do you know where he is then?" I asked.
Steve pointed in the direction of the bar. "Went to get a drink, I believe"
"Thanks" I left Ronnie with Steve. I pushed my way through the crowd of people to reach the bar and finally meet Roger. He was chatting with some pretty blonde. I wasn't oblivious to the fact the she seemed to be flirting with him and I'll admit, it made me a little jealous. But Roger didn't seem to be interested in her.
He finally looked over at me and his eyes widened. "Darling" He spoke as if he were in a dream. He abandoned the blonde he was with and stepped towards me. "You are the most beautiful woman in this room, I swear" His arm wrapped around my waist and he pulled me close against him.
I closed my eyes and put my head against his chest. It was risky, us being close like this in public, but neither of us seemed to care. "Did you bring Judy?" I asked.
"No" He quickly answered. "Did you bring Billy?" I gave him the same answer he gave me. "I need to kiss you right now" I heard the desperation in his voice.
"Not here. Is there somewhere private we can go?" I asked. He looked around, making sure no one was watching us, and then he grasped my hand. "Roger," I giggled his name as he guided me across the room. "Where are we going?"
"You wanted privacy, didn't you, darling?" I trusted Roger. He pulled me along until we found ourselves outside in the hotel's garden. It was beautiful. "Technically we're not supposed to be out here. I think they close it off for events like tonight"
"It's beautiful out here" I said. We walked around and I couldn't help but admire all of the pretty flowers. "It'd be nice to have a garden like this. Reminds me of the one mum used to keep before she got remarried"
"I've always been fond of flowers" Roger admitted to me. "I'd give you a garden like this if that's what you really wanted, sunshine. When we move in together, I'll give you anything you want"
That made me stop to turn and face him. "Already making plans for us living together?"
Roger touched my face. "There's this place in Islington. It would be perfect for the two of us"
That sounded like a dream. Just Roger and I, living together in a beautiful house. No worries about either Billy or Judy. "I'd like that very much" I noticed him staring at me, like he was in some sort of trance. "What's wrong, Roger?"
"What have you done to me, Maggie Fox?" He asked. It seemed like he was asking more himself that he was me. "I've never loved anyone the way that I do you"
Every time he said he loved me, I felt a euphoric wave rush through my body. "I love you too" The way I said it to Roger, was completely different from the way I had said it to Billy earlier. Roger leaned in and started to kiss me. His arms wrapped tightly around me. The kiss we shared was so intense, it took us both to the ground.
The grass felt cold where it touched the exposed skin on my leg. But I ignored that coldness and could only focus on the softness and warmth of his lips against mine. His hand that was resting on my back, slithered upwards until it came to gently grasp my hair. He pulled on it lightly which caused me to moan. He used that as an opportunity to stick his tongue in my mouth.
 As his tongue explored my mouth, I let my hand do some exploring. I started by touching his arms, which were left exposed thanks to the short sleeved shirt he was wearing. His arms and hands were definitely the most beautiful part of his body, with the exception of his most obvious appendage. Which I could feel against me. I let go of his arm and instead palmed at his erection.
That caused Roger to part his lips from mine with a groan. "Fuck, darling" He pressed a single kiss to my jaw before whispering in my ear. "If you keep touching me like that, I'll have no choice but to fuck you right here"
"Well, why don't you?" I tempted him.
"You know that I want to take you in a bed, first darling" He protested, removing my hand from his bulging cock. His eyes lit up and he smirked. "We are at a hotel, y'know. We could get a room"
"Let's do it" I said without hesitation. This is exactly what I wanted to happen tonight, and from the way Roger had suggested it, he clearly did too. The both of us stood up and we made our way back inside.
No one seemed to notice that the Pink Floyd vocalist and the bassist were holding hands. Surely, this would've been a fine opportunity for a photographer to snap a photo of us. But no one seemed to care. Everyone was caught up in their own little worlds. Roger and I were making a race for the hotel lobby to go ask for a room, when we were stopped none other than by our own manager.
"There you two are!" Roger and I quickly let go of each other's hands before Steve could notice. He didn't seem to. "Been looking everywhere for you two. The press conference is about to start" Oh, shit. I had forgotten about that. Looks like the rendezvous Roger and I were planning, would have to be put on hold for now.
~r.w~
Honestly, I'd much rather be up in a hotel right now making love to Maggie, rather than sitting up here, answering questions I was barely even paying attention too. The only time my attention was held, was when Maggie was answering a question.
She had a way of charming everyone and making them laugh. She was confident in the way she answered, not hesitating even once. Maggie just really had a way of making you fall for her, truly. And that was evident with the one reporter who kept directing questions towards her every chance he got. I could sense the subtle flirtations whenever he spoke to her. It made me angry.
But he wasn't the only one making me agitated. I don't know what he kept saying to her, but David kept leaning over to whisper in her ear, and whatever he said, she found quite amusing, because she kept giggling.
This press conference couldn't have ended quick enough. Now I could finally take Maggie up to a room, and we can make love all night like I've been wanting to do for ages now. I watched as she made her way towards the bar, and I was about to follow after her, but I halted when I noticed David approached her.
He handed her a drink and she graciously accepted it from him. They clinked glasses and took a drink from their glasses. I just watched them for a bit. All they did was talk, it seems like. I just didn't like how close David was to her. Or the way he was looking at her.
I walked over to them after a while. I stepped up beside Maggie, and David nodded at me. "Hello, Rog"
"You mind if I borrowed Maggie for a moment?" I asked. David nodded before he walked off. When he was out of sight, I grabbed Maggie's hand and carried her across the room.
"Where are we going?" She asked me.
"We're going to go get a room" I told her. I really couldn't wait any more. I wanted her. We exited from the hall and made our way to the front desk in the lobby. She was giggling the whole time I was pulling her with me. We approached the front desk. "Hi, we'd like a room for two please" I informed the receptionist.
"Something with a big bed, if you can" Maggie added. The receptionist shook her head while smiling all the same. She must see couples like us all the time. I paid for the room and she gave us the key. Maggie and I quickly ran to the lifts. She pressed the button. As we waited, I couldn't help but grab her by the waist and bring her into a kiss.
When the lift dinged, it made Maggie and I pull away from each other. An elderly woman stepped out and she gave us a dirty look. We both ignored her and quickly stepped into the lift, both too horny for our own good to think about anything else. I couldn't press the button fast enough. The lift close and so the excruciating wait to get to our floor began.
It was just the two of us in the lift. We used that to our advantage and kissed some more. I grasped her face with both of my hands. I parted my lips from hers to admire her angelic face. "I can't believe this is about to happen, sunshine" I professed to her. "I've been thinking about this for so long"
"I have too" She said. Maggie placed her hands over top of mine. She brought one of my hands up to her lips, and she placed gentle kisses upon my fingertips. Her lips parted and she took my finger into her mouth, sucking on it softly. She looked me right in the eyes as she did so. It was both erotic and intimate.
The lift came to a stop and the doors opened. Maggie removed my finger from her mouth with a pop. I grasped her hand and ran with her down the hall until we came to our room. I was quick to unlock and open the door. Maggie stepped in before me. After I stepped inside, I turned to close and lock the door. When I had turned around, I was greeted with a magnificent sight.
Maggie was already naked for me, save for her boots and her headband. "Christ, darling" I stepped towards her. "You are truly a sight to behold" I reached to cup one of her tits in my hand. "You're getting me so hard" She started grabbing at my shirt. "Eager to get me naked, are we?"
She giggled as she bit her lip. "You have no idea" I let her continue. I lifted my arms to let Maggie pull my shirt over my head. Once it was discarded, she took the time to touch and feel me. I couldn't help but close my eyes shudder at her touch. Her hands felt warm against my skin. I felt a kiss on my collarbone. "Roger?"
"Yes?" I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close to me so that our bodies were pressed together. "What is it, my darling?"
"You're beautiful" She told me. I never quite believed her whenever she told me that. I don't think I'll ever understand what she sees in me.
I shook my head. "Darling, I'm not—"
She grasped my face between her hands. "You are, Roger. You are the most gorgeous man I've ever seen in my life" Looking at her as she told me that, I found myself starting to believe her.
I picked her up and carried her over to the bed, setting her gently down on her back. I stood over her. "Tell me more, my love"
She grinned. "You have such a lovely face" Her legs lifted in the air, allowing me to remove her boots. "You have the most hypnotizing eyes. I could stare into them for hours" When her boots were off, I started to kiss along her calves. "You've got the cutest nose, and the sweetest smile" Hearing all the ways she thought I was beautiful was turning me on more than I care to admit. "You lips are so full and soft. I love the way they feel against mine when you kiss me. Your hair is so soft and luscious"
I smirked down at her. She was a sight to behold, laying naked beneath me, her golden hair fanned out, framing her head like a halo. "It's not just my face you love, now is it, darling?" I asked her.
"Fuck no, Roger" She purred. Maggie reached out to touch me. She proceeded to touch every part of me that she described. "You have a perfect body. Everything from your arms, your chest, your stomach, your long legs" Her hands came to the zipper of my pants. She pulled it down slowly. "But you know what I think is the most gorgeous part of you?" Once the zipper was all the way down, she pulled my pants down and I hissed in relief once my hard cock was released from the confines of my pants. I heard her hum in delight when she saw it. "This thick cock of yours. You're so big, I don't know how you'll fit inside me"
Fuck, hearing her say that was hot. "We'll just have to get you nice and wet, won't we?" I told her, petting at her hair. Maggie's hand wrapped around me and she started stroking me. "Fuck" I hissed at the pleasure. "Darling, I want—shit—I want to lick your cunt" I've yet to taste her the way I wanted to. "Tell me you want my tongue in your pretty pussy"
She licked her lips. "I want your tongue in my pussy, Roger. Make me cum with your mouth" I kneeled in front of her, grabbing her legs and pulling her closer to the edge of the bed. I placed her legs upon my shoulder and I was greeted with the sight of her glistening pussy. "Prettiest fucking pussy I've ever seen, darling" I wasted no time in quenching my thirst for her. I pressed my tongue flat against her and had my first lick. My suspicions were right, not only did she smell like peaches, but she tasted like them too.
"Roger" She drawled in ecstasy. I was a man starved as I ate her out. I didn't want to stop. She tasted so sweet. Her fingers grasped my hair. Maggie was writhing from the pleasure I was giving her. "Fuck, it's so good! It feels so good!"
I've never been the biggest fan of performing oral on a woman, but I wouldn't refuse it if she wanted me to do so. But when I tasted Maggie like this, it was all I wanted to do. I never wanted to stop. Everything was a haze as I felt her gushing on my tongue. Fuck, she was cumming. Her cum tasted divine. I didn't want to, but I pulled away from her. She looked so beautiful in her post-orgasm state. "I could be in between your legs like this all day, darling" I told her.
She sat up, grabbing my face between her hands and pulling me into a hard kiss. "Let me suck your cock, please" She begged me.
As tempting as that sounded, the only way I wanted to be inside her right now, was through means of her sweet cunt. "No, darling. I want to fuck you now" I pushed her back onto the bed. "Don't you want that?" I began stroking myself and she watched me. "Wouldn't you rather have my cock in your cunt?"
"Yes" She whined.
"Yes, what?"
"Yes, I want your thick cock filling my tight cunt"
"That's a good girl" I grasped my cock and started by rubbing it against her. I tapped it against her swollen clit a few times before I did what I've been waiting to do. I prodded my tip at her hole, and slowly pushed myself inside her. I noticed that she winced a bit. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah" Maggie assured me. "I'm just not used to having such a big cock inside of me"
I stayed still, letting her get used to my size. "Let me know when you want me to move, okay darling?" I told her, cupping her face. "I love you"
"I love you, too" She grabbed my face and pulled me into a kiss. "You can start moving now"
I began to move. She felt so so good around me. She was warm and tight. I feared I wasn't gonna last very long. I started out by fucking her slowly, snapping my pelvis against hers. I never dared take my eyes off of her. If this was any other girl, I would've fucked her hard and fast. But she wasn't just any girl. She was the one who I'm certain is my soulmate, the love of my life. I didn't just want to fuck her. I wanted to make love to her.
"You feel so divine around me, my darling" I praised her. I felt her clench around me at the praise, causing me to moan. "Your cunt was made for my cock"
"I feel so full with you inside me" She purred. A hand touched my back, and the other found the back of my neck. She gently grasped my hair. "I can feel every inch of you" Her legs wrapped around my waist.
"Does he feel like this inside of you?" I asked her, kissing her softly.
"No" She grabbed at my arms. "Fuck me, Roger. Fuck me harder, fuck me faster"
"Like this?" I asked, changing the speed of my thrusts. I could tell she liked that by the way her hands gripped my arms, and the way her cunt squeezed my cock. The way she was moaning and the sound of the bed creaking with every thrust was helping me get closer and closer to orgasm.
"Roger, you're gonna make me cum!" She cried, her voice high pitched due the the pleasure I was giving her.
"Yeah?" I reached in between us so that I could rub at her clit, intent on giving her an orgasm she'll never forget. "Cum for me. I want you to soak my cock. Yes, that's it" I praised her as she screamed out my name. I felt her having her orgasm, coating my cock in her cum, walls fluttering around me. "That's a good girl. That's a good fucking girl"
Finally, it was my turn to cum. I didn't want to risk cumming inside of her so I pulled out of her. I positioned myself so that I was close to her face and stroked myself. "I'm gonna cum, I'm gonna— fuck!" I groaned as I spurted all over her face. When I was finished, I leaned down to kiss her, not caring about the fact that her face was covered in my cum.
"Mhm, I love you, Roger" She told me after our lips parted.
"I love you too, Maggie" I repeated to her, meaning my words completely. I left her, though only for a moment, so I could fetch a towel from the bathroom. She sat up, and I sat in front of her. I began wiping her face.
"Roger, that was the best sex I've ever had" She confessed to me.
"Yeah?" It was satisfying to hear that. "I have to say the same thing about you" She smiled at me, but then it dropped. "Sunshine, what's wrong?"
"This thing between us, whatever it is, it's not over just because we fucked right?" Maggie asked. The way she asked that, made me think she only believed I was out to fuck her and then I would toss her on the curb like garbage. But that was the furthest thing from the truth.
"Are you kidding, Maggie?" I grasped her face in between my hands and made her look at me. "First of all, we didn't just fuck. We made love. And it's not just 'some thing' between us. Hearing you say that makes it sound like it doesn't mean a thing to you"
"It means everything to me, Roger"
For some reason, I didn't quite believe her. "Then why won't you divorce him?"
"Why won't you leave Judy, then?" She twisted against me.
"I'm going to. In fact, next time I see her, I'll call things off between us, alright?" I said. She nodded and I touched my forehead to hers. I grasped her hands in mine. "Maggie, all I know is that I want to be with you and only you. Possibly even for the rest of my life. Don't get me wrong, I love Judy and I always will, but I'm in love with you, Maggie Fox"
"Can we stay here tonight?" She asked me. Maggie didn't even have to ask me twice.
...
While we decided that we were gonna stay at the hotel for the night, Maggie and I figured that we would need to reappear at the party for a bit, as to not garner suspicions. We came back hand-in-hand, but when we heard Steve calling for us, we quickly let go of each other.
"There you two are!" He said, approaching us for the second time that evening. "That's the second time you two disappeared tonight. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you two were sneaking around" Of course, Steve was only joking around when he said it, but Maggie and I looked at each other, sharing the same feeling of panic from possibly getting caught. "But, I know that's not true because it wouldn't look good" He reminded us sternly.
"What do you need us for this time, Steve?" I asked.
"Pictures" Was all he said before he was guiding us in the direction of where the rest of the band, and a group of photographers were waiting. Ronnie was front and center of the photographers. She looked right at Maggie and I and smiled, almost like she knew what had happened between us.
The photographers took quite a number of pictures of us. But, what was hidden from the view of the cameras, was the fact that Maggie's hand was being held in mine. As much as I wanted to have our relationship be public, I knew it was a terrible idea.
The backlash we would face from the public, as it was known we were all in relationships. It was a question that had come up once. Steve would be furious if he ever found out, but David, Nick, and Rick would probably pay it no mind. Most importantly, we didn't want Billy and Judy finding out. Sure, public backlash would be bad, but the backlash from our partners finding out? It would be like the Titanic sinking.
Those thoughts faded from my mind though, the moment I saw Maggie gazing up at me. I looked down at her, catching her eyes and smiling at her. She mouthed I love you to me. I very much wanted to lean down and capture her lips in a kiss. But it could wait until we were once again in the privacy of our room, where I had every intention of making love to her again.
I feel like I have to say whatever it takes today, because Ronnie deserves all the love I have to offer him and more. If I could give the world to him, I would.
I know my words aren't enough to describe everything I feel for him, but even though it's a simple phrase, I truly say with a hand to my heart, I love Ronald David Wood.
He's not just another big inspiration for me or "oh, that's my favorite in the Stones". It's crazy to think that even though he doesn't know about my existence, this guy brings me unimaginable happiness. I love him and everything he does. From playing just one chord on the guitar, to simply existing.
It wasn't anticipated that once I met all the Stones, Ronnie would be my favorite, the one where whenever I hear about or see a picture, I'd sigh and think, "Holy shit, this is the guy I'll always love and I'll admire it with all my heart for the rest of my life."
Ronnie, you and anyone else couldn't imagine my happiness today. With everything you've been through, being alive and completing your 74th birthday is something to celebrate with fireworks. I may be overreacting, but now I'm about to burst with joy and feel the need to show it.
Happy birthday, my lovely Ronnie. I wish you health, happiness, and all that is good, not just for today, but every day for the rest of your life — and I hope you have many years to come.
I can't imagine a world without you, I love you immensely, from the bottom of my heart. 💛🎉🎊🎂
I need to be really open
Right now I'm about to post totally openly and it's going to beong because my night was long
So I was at the bar and the girl buddy I wrote about who didn't remember me, who used to remember me when she ran into me back then... Yeah she didn't remember me and it hurt my feelings really badly. Look, it just did, okay? I don't forget people I've had coffee with under funny circumstances and people uve bonded with. She used to support my depression and all that and was totally into me back then as she's the one who told me I have awesome hair and always wanted to tell me
Yeah that was her back then, just fucking only 3 years ago, it's not even that long, let alone I texted her just a few months ago
My heart breaks a bit. And she was there with a buddy of mine. I didn't know he'd be there. I felt so hurt by that? Because I thought me and her were hella cool... We used to text jokes about this guy in a class. I just can't believe you'd forget me
I can't
Especially since she thought I was attractive AND THEN we had a bonding moment over coffee one day
I'm so hurt, I can't explain it, I don't know if it's okay for me to feel this way, I don't know if it's wrong to feel this way. .. I'm just very HURT and it makes me want to cry, I'm not crying, but it feels like it and I just... I don't understand and I can't shake the awkwardness. I met her and she still didn't remember me. I had to explain to her who I was and it felt so unnatural
I still feel woozy about that! I hated that! I did! My buddy told me she said to him "I think I know that guy" REALLY?! Bro it's not like me and her were acquaintances. Omfg. We were seen together plenty times
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO FEEL? It's not like I was trying to fuck her or anything, I just felt like it was a special connection when I met her. Not that we were close but she was one of those rare open people and thought we'd never forget each other
It makes me a little sick to my stomach, as in, just feeling, I don't know why, and to know she didn't want to hang with me but hung out with Eric... I'm just so confused!! I can't do this right now! Not right now! Too much, it's too much right now!
Okay so I was outside at the bar very sad and slum. I got to the bar and ordered another drink. The waitress there, the one that hates me, she was here so I tried to be nice and asked "how are you doing?" And she ignored me, and I said her name, kaeton, I was like, "kaeton??" And she still ignored me. Suffice it to say my heart felt even more hurt. The more and more I try to give myself, the more and more I'm being shut down..
I just wanted to die at that point
So I went outside to write to myself with my new beer
Suddenly a fight is happening. I interject cause they came my way, two dudes and the small one is toast. So I help the big one out and say yo, here come here, chill, and I tried to sit them down. And then the big one pushed me as if I'm an enemy and said "NAH GET OUT OF MY WAY, HES MY NEPHEW" and I said BRO CHILL, IM HERE TO HELP, ON YOUR SIDE. And later he apologized to me saying he's sorry he was like that and that it indeed was his nephew who was causing the scene. I said I know they man, I wanted to stop you guys from tumbling over people. He was cool man. We talked afterwards. No problem at all. Chill dude. Infact the waitress that hates me? I am pretty sure she gave him her number. Doesn't matter
So guess what? Another fight breaks out from that. Again came my way. I saw the two bartender guys that work there. Casey and Calvin. I know them somewhat. I'm a regular at this bar bro. And I see this dude pushing Calvin around and I got so upset that I went up and stopped him, grabbed him by the neck (the drunk douche) and said nah, chill, you're out bro and he started calling me "what? YOU FAG, YOU FUCKING GAY FAGGOT" because of the way I look. And I was quick to remark about his dumbass appearance about his glasses and cap combo. And he kept going but my skinny ass was able to push him out the door. And I bumped into Sam, my other favorite waitress there who I've slowly gotten close to. I'll tell you more about that. She was a bit frazzled by it all. And I accidentally made her drop drinks on herself as she was trying to serve someone else but that's cause I was getting angry and talking mad shit back to this douche bag I was pushing out by the neck. And Casey, not Calvin, but Casey, pushed me out of that grip and I understood, to let go and let the people working here take care of it. I didn't mean to be bad. I was just upset seeing one of the workers here that I like being pushed around so rough. It wasn't okay. And like. Yeah
So when I came back to the outside, lots of people came up to me. Some said wow, wtf happenened, we saw, you were involved and we were like WTF
Others, like Eric saw it and then he left cause he said he didn't want to see drunkards brawling. In my heart I thought, wow, Eric, I wasn't, I was pushing him out because the drunkard was ALREADY hitting the wait staff.
Anyway, other people came up to me and told me "wow bro when he called you a fag? Dude nah I almost ran in there and knocked him out, I'm surprised you didn't, he called you a fag so many times" and I said "yeah I was getting to that point but Casey stopped me"
Um, girls started looking at me and smiling at me. I don't know why but girls thought it was attractive that I pushed out a douche bag out of the bar, whilst being called a fag and horrible names. Idk man.
A lot of people came up to me. I didn't even realize everyone was watching. To me it lasted a second. To everyone else telling me about it, they said it lasted a good 6 minutes straight
Jesus
Okay so I went to Steve's house with Ronnie and Hector. Love these dudes. Steve is hella old but he's awesome. We smoked and drank. We got hungry so me, Ronnie and Hector went to whataburger. We ate and suddenly Sam, the waitress from the bar came over and scared me..I was HOLY SHIT WTF HOW
she said she was driving and saw us so she came in to eat with us. Ugh sam is so cute. She's been so hot this entire time. She's the one who I accidentally spilled a bit of beer on as she was trying to serve it, remember? And so after that happened, I went up to her and said "hey, I'm sorry I spilled that on you, Sam" and she was so surprised I was like this (it's just me) and she was like "omg you're so sweet" and was like "no it's fine" so fast forward to whataburger. Ya man. Hector left and Ronnie left. It was just me and Sam. And the guy working at Whataburger was trying to fuck sam. Poor guy, bless his heart, he has a crush on Sam, and, you know, she just doesn't like him. So she told me to help her sneak out when he isn't looking. And I did lol. So me and her started talking a lot outside. And the dude comes out and says to her "hey Sam, I'm about to smoke a cigarette, wanna join me?" Literally has balls trying to cock block ME. I MEAN, I wasn't trying to fuck Sam, I'm just saying to HIM it looked like I was kinda with her and had been with her a while alone, so for him to come up, was ballsy. Like bro, you for real?
She brushed him off. And she looked at me and said "come on" and I asked her "Bro why are you acting like he has a chance?!" And she said she has to because she comes here to eat often at nights hahaha. I said okay, totally understandable hahahaha
And then she told me, I grew on her. She's seen me many nights and has seen who I am. And she finally sees the real me. She said she appreciates me and wants to hang out and stuff. I was surprised. I felt appreciated greatly. Especially after such an awful night. Which is still affecting me. I don't know how Jenny forgot me. I can't believe I was trying to call her Emily at first. Awful. It was an accident, not that she heard me. But, wow, she didn't remember me at all.
It hurts still... Because that means I've gotten so so ugly to the point where girls who used to think I was hot as fuck don't even recognize me anymore (that's how ugly and different I've gotten physically) oh no I'm gonna cry. I can't take it
The end of tonight was good! Why can't I accept that!
I'm actually tearing up
This is so awful
What is wrong with me
After the past couple days of bullshit, going to work was not something I wanted to do.
I sat in my car, glaring at Vampiro, knowing I was already late for work. I could feel my anger rising to the surface as I loomed over at the brick building.
I didn't want to deal with customers, or really anyone, for that matter. But I also didn't want to be in the Trapp Haus. The thumping of club music off the walls was slowly driving me insane.
I was just... so done with everything.
I wanted one night of peace, one night of normal. I wanted one night to just lie in bed with my boyfriend and cuddle. I didn't think I was asking for much.
Colby's my boyfriend now.
I smiled at the thought, my body calming down for a second. I guess after all the crazy events that occurred recently, that was the only silver lining.
I groaned, slowly sliding my body out of the car, locking it with a click of my keys. I quickly ran towards Vampiro, shuffling in the back door quietly.
“You're late again.” Roger blinked, staring me down.
I sighed deeply. “Yeah, Roger, I am.”
He crossed his arms tightly, “This is the third time in a row.”
“Do you expect me to be early, like... ever?” I let out a dry laugh.
He shook his head, “No, but I expect you to be on time.”
We both turned to the kitchen door swinging open, Ronnie walking in nonchalantly.
“Do you need something?” Roger queried, glancing behind me.
Ronnie smiled innocently, “Just more shot glasses.”
I turned back to Roger, “Well, Roger, I'm usually on time. I'm just not having a great week.”
That's a fucking understatement.
“This past month alone you've been late almost ten times.” He stated.
“Okay... what are you going to do about it?” I deadpanned, glaring.
I could hear a tiny gasp from Ronnie as Roger stepped back. “Excuse me?”
“What are you going to do about it? You're not gonna fire me.” I dared.
He started, scrunching his face, “How do you know I wo-”
"Because who else is gonna put up with the terrible fucking pay and gross vampires on the daily? It's not like you got other people lining up to work here." I took a deep breath, looking directly into Roger's eyes. "I apologize for being late, it's not my intension. But tonight is not the night to fuck with me. Got it?"
A heavy silence fell over the three of us. Ronnie's mouth was hung wide open, clutching the shot glasses in her hands. Roger sucked his teeth, dropping his arms, and walking towards his office.
He called out. “Just try not to be late again.”
I smiled sarcastically. “Cool. Thanks Roger.”
Ronnie glided in front of me, mouth still hanging open, “Oh my God, who are you and what have you done with Jade?”
I rolled my eyes, “I'm in the worst fucking mood right now. I literally contemplated going home while I was sitting in the parking lot.”
“That bad of a day?” She frowned.
“No, but the week? Even worse.” I groaned, walking into the bar.
She followed right behind me, placing the shot glasses down. “Why? What happened? Oh wait, let me guess…”
I waited for her to guess, making a mixed drink for a customer.
She gasped again, “Oh my God, you and Colby broke up, didn't you?”
I furrowed my eyebrows, “What?”
“I can just tell that that’s what happened. He’s always given you so much stress, it would make sense that you would get tired of that.” Ronnie grinned, patting my shoulder, “Well since you’re single now, you should go out there and get a new vampire boyfriend. Show Colby what he’ll be missing.”
I snorted, “Ronnie, that’s not what happened.”
“What? Yes it is. This anger you have,” Ronnie waved her hand in a circle, “has ‘broken up with my vampire boyfriend’ written all over it.”
I puzzled. “That’s something that’s noticeable?”
“Oh, 100%, especially with you.” She noted.
I sassed. “Well, I hate to break it to you, but me and Colby are still together. Hell, we’re even closer now.”
“You’re lying. You guys broke up.” She rebutted, placing drinks on her tray.
I raised an eyebrow at her tone. “Why are you arguing with me about this? No, we didn’t.”
“Obviously you did.” She expressed, shrugging her shoulders.
I scoffed. “Why would you think that unless I told you so?”
“I just know you guys broke up. You went through something crazy this weekend and now are no longer together.” She declared, looking at me.
My face dropped, my body leaning away from her. “How… would you know that?”
“I can just tell, that’s all.” She walked away quickly, placing drinks down on a table nearby.
Why would she say I went through something crazy this weekend? How would she know that’s true?
I waited until she came back behind the bar to speak. “Colby and I are still together, so you’re wrong.”
“Okay, if you insist on lying to me,” she chuckled, “you should break up with him anyway.”
“What? Why? You were the one that was pushing me to get with him!” I hissed, wiping down the bar.
“I know, but I was wrong. Let’s be honest, he’s terrible.” Ronnie confessed, leaning against the counter.
I rested my hands on my hips, my voice low. “What the hell do you mean by that?”
“Think about it: ever since he came into your life, it’s gotten worse. You constantly come in here in a bad mood, complaining about something bad that happened on your days off,” she nodded. “Colby is to blame for all of that.”
“Stop talking about my boyfriend like that. He’s the only good thing I have in my life right now, actually.” I argued, pulling out a bottle of vodka.
She stepped towards me. “You should be honest with me.”
“I am being honest. Can we just move on?” I turned away from her, grabbing some shot glasses.
“You’re my best friend, Jade. You don’t need to lie. Friends don’t lie to each other.” She droned, monotone.
“I know, but I’m not-” I spun back to her, cutting myself off.
I blinked, my eyes glancing around Ronnie quickly. The flashy lights in the bar made it look like an aura had appeared around her, an almost yellow glow.
“What?” She cocked her head.
I closed my eyes hard, rubbing them softly. “Nothing.”
Fuck, I’m losing it.
“I’m just gonna step outside for a minute.” I responded.
She pursed her lips. “Alright, I’ll cover for you.”
I walked through the back and stepped outside into the cool air. I exhaled, resting my body against the brick wall of the building.
Maybe it was a guess. Maybe Ronnie assumed something happened between me and Colby and that’s why I was upset. But something about the way she was talking made it seem like she knew me and Colby broke up.
We didn’t… but we almost did.
And that’s what concerned me.
How the fuck would she know?
And did I really see an aura around her?
“You should be more aware of your surroundings.” A deep voice spoke.
I jumped back, glancing up at the man in front of me.
Max beamed at me, shuffling back slightly. “…wouldn’t want some random vampire to run up on you, now.”
I gritted my teeth, “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“I just figured I’d stop by, say hello.” He remarked, his hands behind his back.
I scowled. “You think I want to see you right now?”
He smirked lightly, “You didn’t mind seeing me a day or two ago… on our date.”
I stepped to him, getting in his face. “Don’t act like I went on that date because I wanted to.”
Max shot his hands up defensively. “What’s with the hostility?”
“You know exactly what you did, fucker,” I spat. “How dare you do that to Colby.”
“And what exactly was that?” He asked innocently.
“You made him dream that I was cheating on him. Like I would ever let you kiss me or take my blood.” I jeered.
His face turned serious, dark. “I could do both of those things still, you know.”
“Like hell you will.” I fumed.
His face relaxed, an almost mischievous look coming to his eyes. “How’d you know I made him dream about it?”
Fuck me.
I stammered. “W-We have cameras in our apartment. I saw him walk out into the living room and stand in the same place for three hours. And he stayed asleep for most of the day.”
“Yeah, my powers kind of do that to people.” He laughed.
“The cameras were the only way I was able to convince him it didn’t happen.” I doubled down.
He bit his lip, glancing at my eyes. “I have to ask, how did you know my powers were dream manipulation?”
Fuck. Me. Again.
“I don’t dream that way,” I commented. “And again, I wouldn’t let you drink my blood.”
“I guess that’s valid.” He snickered quietly, “But come on, are you really that upset with me about yesterday?”
“I’m actually holding back the urge to stab you.” I deadpanned.
He whistled. “Harsh.”
“Why did you do it? How did you do it? What was the point?” I questioned, crossing my arms.
“To have fun. Liven up your life a bit.” Max teased.
I exhaled. “Fuck you.”
“What? Life is meant to be a game. Especially if you’re like me and have been alive for 500 years, give or take.” He replied, sliding his hands into his pockets.
“You still didn’t answer how you did it.” I mentioned.
He hummed. “What do you mean?”
“You weren’t in the apartment. How did you get Colby to dream like that?” I inquired.
“My secret?” He got close to me, too close. The back of his hand grazed my skin, his eyes watching me, “Just a light touch does the trick. And then, I’m inside your head forever. Or at least for a couple days.”
“That’s fucked.” I muttered.
“Yeah, but it’s also fun.” He dropped his head, taking a step back as his eyes peered up at me, “I didn’t do it just to piss you off.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Oh really?”
“I also did it… because I like you.” He professed.
I huffed, staring up at the sky. “Are you kidding me?”
“No. I think you’re beautiful, and you shouldn’t be with Colby.” Max admitted.
“And be with you instead?” I let out a dry laugh, “I’d rather die.”
He sucked his teeth. “I can still arrange that.”
“Cute choice of words for someone that has a crush on me.” I got back in his face, almost chest-to-chest with him, “All that bullshit you did? Don’t do that ever again. If you come near Colby and hurt him like that I swear to God-”
Ronnie’s voice suddenly rang out. “Hey Jade? Can you come back in? I need help.”
Max and I turned towards Ronnie, her body peaking out the back door.
I cleared my throat, backing away from Max. “Sorry, Ronnie. Lost track of time.”
“I apologize. I didn’t mean to keep your friend for so long.” He smiled charmingly at Ronnie.
Ronnie stared at Max, her eyes narrowing. “I know you from somewhere.”
“Excuse me?” He asked.
“I know you. You look familiar.” She repeated.
“Well, that’s strange, because I don’t know you.” He assured.
“I definitely know you from somewhere…” She grumbled, strolling back inside after a moment.
Silence fell over the both of us. I continued to glare daggers at Max. His eyes met mine and he smiled.
“Well, I guess I’ll get going and let you get back to work.” He added, “I know when I’m not wanted.”
I murmured. “Clearly you don’t.”
His eyes drifted down me for a moment as I turned to head back inside. Then he stopped me, lightly grabbing my arm.
“Your necklace…” His eyes widened.
I jolted his hand off me. “What? What about it?”
“Um…” He shook his head, blinking his eyes, “Where did you get it?”
“I don’t know. My family gave it to me.” I quipped, “Are we done here?”
Max relaxed, his face normal again. Another smirk appeared. “Of course. Have a goodnight.”
I rolled my eyes, closing the door on him.
“He’s kinda cute.” Ronnie giggled, still standing by the door.
I scoffed, “For an asshole, sure.”
I tried to work for an hour, doing my best to keep my mind off of Ronnie and Max. With Ronnie assuming that me and Colby ended things, and Max showing up, I’ve had my fill of vampires and the drama they bring tonight.
All I wanted to do was go home and be with Colby, the only vampire that wasn’t an asshole to me.
I grunted loudly, dropping cups and shot glasses on my tray into the sink and yanking my apron off. “I’m fucking done. I’m going home early.”
“Why, what’s wrong? Is this about Co-” She began.
I interjected immediately. “If you bring up Colby one more time, I’m gonna smack you. Me and Colby are fine. It’s the rest of my life that isn’t. And you’re not helping. Tell Roger I got sick or something. Hell, I’ll text him when I get home.”
Ronnie retorted, rolling her eyes. “Jesus, there’s no need to be a bitch to me.”
“Yes, there is!” I ranted. “You have been up my ass all night about me and Colby breaking up when we haven’t. For whatever reason it’s in your head that we aren’t together.”
“Well, maybe I just think you and Colby shouldn’t be together anymore.” She complained.
I grabbed my bag, scrunching my face, “For what reason?”
“Because he isn’t good enough for you. You should be dating someone that cares about you. Like that guy outside.” She stated happily.
“What guy?” I questioned.
“The man you were talking to.” She disclosed.
“…Max? You want me to date Max?” I gasped, holding back a gag.
She nodded, a light smile on her face. “Yeah, he seems sweet. I saw the way he was looking at you.”
I started walking towards the exit, “Oh my God, we are not having this conversation. I’m leaving.”
Ronnie followed me out the door, stopping at the front of the bar. “I’m not gonna have anyone to help cover your shift.”
“Damn, that sucks to be you then.” I turned, smiling bitterly.
“You’re such a bitch.” Ronnie sneered.
“Like you haven’t been one too. I’m tired of dealing with you, this place, and all these fucking vampires.” I ripped my door open, throwing my stuff into the car. “Maybe I want one night in my life to not be about vampires!”
I jumped into the driver’s seat, revving the engine to life, and raced out of the parking lot.
End of Fearghal: You know what I mean Fearghal: Heaven forbid you two ever broke up, you'd do what you could and make the most of your time with them Fearghal: Not sulk like a soppy twat because its unfair Fearghal: The feeling certainly is not mutual, from what I understand, at any rate Fearghal: But I thought the same Fraze: You gonna say next that it was all bad luck Ronnie's da was a waster and bowed out? Fraze: Some cunts honestly Fraze: Too busy crying to wipe your kids eyes Fraze: Ali's well rid Fearghal: I've got no room to judge Fearghal: he was a kid, made my own mistakes at his age, arguably as bad Fearghal: S'too short to be angry about it, you just have to get on with it Fraze: You don't get to be a kid when you have one, simple as Fraze: Tell me who the cunt is of Ali's I'll write that on his head for him Fraze: Proper spell it out Fearghal: Nah, you don't Fearghal: but even if you don't raise the kid, your childhood's still gone Fearghal: I doubt Josh went on to do great things with his life, or he don't have regrets about how he handled it Fearghal: I don't think its my place, son Fraze: Ma had me though, don't get greater, yeah? Fraze: I reckoned on you saying that. Ah well. Had to give it a shot Fearghal: So you say, so you say, boy Fearghal: You know you'd never hear the end of it Fearghal: Wouldn't be appreciated, like Fraze: Yeah Fraze: Probably won't hear the end of Bea if I don't tell her who it is though Fearghal: She'll probably work it out Fearghal: They're brighter than us Fearghal: Your Ma didn't seem surprised but first I'd heard of it Fearghal: Naturally, or maybe coulda intervened before now Fraze: Sounds legit Fraze: Fuck's sake Fraze: Our family needs their heads banged together, us two excluded Fearghal: Preaching to the choir boy Fearghal: we do alright Fraze: You were never a choir boy Fraze: Might bring Joe out of his hole, I'd take that Fearghal: 'Course I was Fearghal: fucking angelic, mate Fearghal: Yeah Fearghal: as usual, keep us posted Fraze: Fuck off Fraze: The cat thinks you're dying when you let a tune out Fraze: 'Course Fearghal: Well, lots changed since those days Fearghal: Balls dropped for one Fearghal: Career over Fraze: Regrets, you've got a few, yeah?
