" talents? no. unless you consider a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time a talent. " @sanitatcm — sent from this prompt (x) still accepting!
she smiles at his statement, though she doesn't quite believe the words that he's saying. anthony has been nothing but complimentary about him whenever dwight has come up in conversation, so it's not stretch of the imagination to think that the good doctor may be slightly underselling his achievements. it's actually a very refreshing change from the amount of so-called doctors in the 'ton who consider themselves to be a gift from god himself.
‘ are you not talented in your work, dr. enys? ’ she asks, and though her tone is genuinely curious, there's a hint of teasing in it too. he's a friend of her brother's, and has been for long enough that he doesn't get to escape the torture of being affilited with the bridgerton siblings.

his smile is certainly disarming, complimented easily by the blush that now tinges his cheeks. when did she start noticing things like that? when did she begin to realise that maybe, just maybe, she might be attracted to one of her brother's closest friends? she isn't sure, but what she does know is that she can't allow herself to admire his features, not given their positions, not given everything that would be riding against them should any of this come to fruition.
so she hums softly in thought, searching for the right words to say, because as determined as he is to downplay his achievements, she is ever more determined to expose them to him. it's all that she can do at this moment. ‘ i would say that one would have to have a natural talent for learning in order to be as skilled as you are at your profession. after all, a skill as prolific as yours is so rarely comes to those who are untalented, do you not think? ’
he glances down to hide a smile, his cheeks flushing slightly at the gentle tease. " i would call that more skill than talent, ma'am... i am good at what i do, but that has come through diligent study and practice. " looking up at her, his smile widens. " or perhaps you think all physicians born with an encyclopedic knowledge of maladies and their various remedies? " it is his turn to offer the slightest tease now. " if so, i think you flatter me indeed... "
never forgotten, of course, is the fact that she is his friend's sister. his lovely, unmarried sister who by rights should be saving her smiles and teases for far more illustrious men. and he is no fool - he knows the dangers of being seen to look where one ought not to... and even more the dangers of acting on the impulse.
