Hoax dan Opinion Leader

Pada era konvergensi media seperti sekarang ini, pengguna juga bisa memanfaatkan internet sebagai media untuk memproduksi sesuatu, salah satunya opini. Hal ini disebut dengan user-generated content. Di satu sisi, hal ini merupakan hal yang bagus karena mengundang kreativitas. Namun disisi lain, apakah hal ini dapat dikatakan positif jika menimbulkan opini yang sesat dalam masyarakat? Belum lagi maraknya isu-isu hoax yang terkait politik pada pasca pilkada seperti saat ini. 

Pengaruh smartphone yang semakin canggih dan juga wireless internet yang semakin cepat juga menjadi salah satu faktor mengapa netizen saat ini sangat banyak yang menggiring opini. Seolah-olah mereka menyandang gelar ‘sarjana hukum’ ketika online di sosial media.

Journalism Nowadays

Sepertinya kata-kata tersebut memang benar adanya. Sekarang, dalam era konvergensi media ini, siapapun bisa menjadi jurnalis. Dulu, pemberitaan-pemberitaan seputar suatu peristiwa hanya bisa didapatkan pada media tradisional saja, seperti koran, tv, radio, dan lain-lain. Namun kini, dengan hanya bermodalkan smartphone dan juga internet, siapa saja dapat menyebarkan berita apapun yang dialami nya kepada orang lain dan dapat langsung disebarkan melalui sosial media. Fenomena tersebut dikenal sebagai citizen journalism.

Dengan semakin berkembangnya citizen journalism, maka semakin banyak berita yang bisa tersebar dengan cepat tanpa terfilter dengan baik dan menyebabkan berita tersebut menjadi bisa tidak akurat. Maka dari itu, dalam hal ini dibutuhkan industri untuk memonitor dan memfilter berita tersebut sebelum tayang atau tersebar dipublik. Salah satu contohnya adalah video citizen journalism ini yang ditayangkan pada program berita di CNN Indonesia. Masuknya berita  citizen journalism ke program berita CNN Indonesia ini, secara tidak langsung telah menujukkan bahwa CNN yang merupakan salah satu pihak industri, turut ikut serta dalam memonitor berita yang telah dibuat oleh citizen agar berita yang dihasilkan tetap akurat dan dapat dipercaya.
