In the interest of not derailing this already-long-and-awesome thread, here are some more details! (Paging @sparrows-corner and any other interested parties.)
So in my first semester of college, I took an Intro to Psychology class. I didn't expect anything special; it was just one of those general education courses that everybody was supposed to take at some point. But it turned out amazing.
What the general public didn't know at that point was someone in the college administration had screwed up and forgotten to assign a teacher to this class. Until a week before class. When several students emailed to ask why that detail was missing in the online listing.
The administration panicked, scrambled for someone-anyone-omg-who-can-drop-everything-and-teach-this-class. They called recently-graduated owners of Masters Degrees in teaching.
They found Sandy.
She was qualified and available, and much older than the average recent grad, with the confidence to go with it. This was still a daunting task, though, and she agreed on one condition: that she team-teach the class with a friend of hers who was still working on finishing his degree.
Having no other choice and seeing no real problem with this, the administration agreed. And thus was born the most glorious educational comedy act in my entire academic career. The two of them were a delight. They knew all the stuff they needed to teach, and they knew a great deal more, and they delivered lectures in a way that had everyone paying eager attention. It was great.
This friend, by the way, was awesome in his own right. While Sandy was a curly-haired white lady around middle age, Wayne was a black guy who (1) dressed in impeccable suits and (2) had cerebral palsy.
I think a lot of 18-year-old minds were quietly enlightened about a few things just from watching these two banter back and forth, one with joints more wobbly than the other. Wayne told a memorable anecdote at one point about stopping by a grocery store in sweat pants instead of his usual classy wear. The cashier asked some gentle question about what he spent his time on, assuming that he had some sort of carer following him around. The expression on her face when he told her that he taught college was one I'll never forget, and I didn't even see it.
Anyways, at the end of this semester, the two teachers asked a few of us smart kids if we wanted to be TAs (teaching assistants) for the next semester. Since most of us had already become friends during the make-a-group-and-discuss-things portions of the class, this sounded like a party that would look good on our records later. And it really was.
I TA'd for that class a few times in a row, with my buddies and the two very cool teachers. We met up outside of class for holiday parties and everything.
And, since this was during the time the Lord of the Rings trilogy was first coming out in theaters, we all dressed up in costume and went to an early screening together.
Wayne drove. His handicap placard meant we got to park at the front, which was pretty awesome.
Now, I'd met people before who knew more LotR lore than I did, but they all paled in comparison to Sandy. As I said in the notes on that other post, she shared some stories of her youth with us. When she was fourteen, she ran away to join a hippie commune. She already knew fluent elvish, and she used that to help the commune's drug-runners stay out of the clutches of the cops, by translating their drug notes into a language the cops couldn't read. With a start like that, it was unsurprising that she still knew elvish now, along with all sorts of fascinating deep lore.
She had a limited edition book that looked shockingly expensive. She made beeswax candles for all the TAs as holiday gifts, with our names written on them in elvish. I still have mine somewhere.
I haven't heard from any of these lovely people in a long time, since college moves on and so does life, but I will treasure those memories forever. I hope Sandy and Wayne and the others are doing well. They deserve the best.

Watching western CRK fandom fight online is very interesting and annoying at the same time. They attack people for slightest disagreement and all the evidences they bring up to back up their argument are in many cases straight up misinformation. Many parts of their so called "canon lore" is built upon fandom headcanons and mistranslations.
(Like I can't believe some fans actually think cookies represent races and have canon sexualities. Former was debunked by the officials and latter was never mentioned.)
That's why I was surprised when I found your translation blog. Someone actually recognized the translation problem! The translation quality is quite impressive. As a Korean I know my language isn't easy to translate. There are indeed some errors here and there but your works provide a surprisingly accurate translation. I can't help but be amazed by your dedication.
Also I saw how you were complaining about the VAs so I decided to compare KR and EN version. And I must admit while EN ver is very fun to listen to thanks to their various accents and tones.. The Beasts sound a lot like a silly cartoon villain than they do in the KR version. They sound a lot younger than what I imagined especially shadow milk. I think I understand why some prefer the different versions.
Sorry for the long post Chess! Just wanna say keep up your great work!
OMG 😭😭😭 Daghang salamat sa imo!!(Thank you so much!!) This is such an honor to receive compliments from a Korean like you. 🥺
I'm sorry if your experience with the western side of the fandom is quite annoying/harsh considering their unwanted white savior complex towards things that could be solved peacefully. And as a fellow Asian, I want to be the one who could put you into a different perspective.
I respectfully disagree with you on the race part because they are still representing real races and are inspired from many cultures. It is best that not only you but also everyone would recognize them and depict them correctly to give the cultures and the people respect.
Disclaimer for the next parts: This is not to say that you drop your headcanons because I'm sharing information sourced from Korean. They're fictional cookies. Do whatever you want with them forever.
A lot of English speaking fans rely on the Fandom wiki (English version of Namu wiki.) I don't even trust that much it as a source for characters or lore because it came from mistranslations that mistake so much of characters' names, genders and pronouns.
MANY examples:
Credit to @burningcheese-merchant (9 year long fan of crob) for sharing me these information.
Snow Sugar Cookie has they/them pronouns found in the Fandom wiki, while he's assigned male in Namu wiki.
Angel Cookie has they/them pronouns found in the Fandom wiki, while he's assigned female in Namu wiki.
Pitaya Dragon Cookie's has they/it pronouns found in the Fandom Wiki, while he is assigned male in Namu wiki.
The above left is when Pitaya initially released. They retroactively changed it to erase his pronouns, as shown in the right image, which is the current one.
Longan Dragon Cookie (from CROB) has they/them pronouns found in the Fandom Wiki, while he is assigned male in Namu wiki.
Snake Fruit Cookie (from CROB) has they/it pronouns found in the Fandom Wiki, while she is assigned female in Namu wiki.
(Westerners threw a tantrum over that.)
Cream Unicorn is a male. There's an interview with the character designer confirming it, talking about how they purposely made him look effeminate as a display/exploration of gender nonconformity. (Source)

(This is so based.) (hungry dog meme) Devsis!! More effeminite men please!!)
Caramel Arrow is Brown Sugar in Korean.
Burnt Cheese is Basque in Korean.
Tea Knight is Ceylon Knight in Korean.
Since Korean version doesn't use pronouns, the Korean language infers gender through context.
Ex:
(Korean version) People mistook Pure Vanilla as a girl because of his looks and voice at first until it was mentioned that he used to be a king, confirming that he is a guy.
(En version already had him with a masculine voice making it obvious.)
Hahaha, I do complain a lot. I'm mostly pissed off about how the En localization team described the characters to the voice actors and also giving them mistranlated scripts, so it was never any of the voice actors fault. They're doing a great job, but they were did dirty. U_U EN Shadow Milk more of a silly clown/walmart Bill Cipher than KR Shadow Milk who is more of real and serious jester making them 2 completely different characters. (My friend who also knows a lot about jesters think that Korean Shamil is also the best characterization of jesters in a while.) Also, the last parts with Korean Burning Spice laughing psychotically as he was being attacked by Golden Cheese is my favorite.

♡ medyo intimidating siya sa simula
♡ kaya ayun medyo off siya nung una niyong meeting
♡ pero that same day nung gabi nagulat ka kasi nagpm siya sayo

♡ ghoster
♡ you: nagsend ng MoM at assigned part niya
♡ taesan: seen tapos the next day ipapasa niya gawa niya
♡ 7/10
leehan
♡ awa na lang lord, super ghoster as in
♡ di mo makakausap sa chat kahit kailan
♡ sa personal naman natatakot kang kausapin siya
♡ kung may boys at the back, ito boy at the side
♡ not as good as mj or sungho pero hes really really helpful tapos fast learner din
woonhak
♡ pancit canton
♡ jk
♡ ayaw niya talaga ng research (who doesnt tbh)
♡ nung una kala mo talaga magiging pabigat toh
♡ hindi naman siya pabigat pero
♡ nung una talaga wala siyang maiambag kasi wala talaga siyang alam

♡ first time niyo makitang kabado bente
♡ pero would slay and eat his part sa defense
♡ pati follow up questions (gisa) nasasagot niya naman without needing your help
♡ 9/10 would reco maging ka group
♡ very maeffort and hardworking

It had been a long day of online college work, and Tara was finally about to be done at 11:30 pm. But before then, she had been nothing but snappy to everyone – Sam, Chad, and Mindy to be exact – and they had finally given up on trying to give her words of encouragement and offer help. All but one.
Sam knew how grumpy her sister could get when she was overwhelmed and tired after a full day of screentime, but she was not about to let her go to bed with a frown on her face. She needed a distraction, and she had just the thing. It was gold.
As the clock struck the half-hour mark, Tara slipped into the living room to grab some water and stretch her legs, which is where she found Sam glancing back at her from her place on the couch.
“Almost done?”
“Yeah,” Tara snapped as she gulped down some water. Why are you still up, Sam? Don’t you have work tomorrow or something?”
“Yeah, I do, but I want to make sure you get your work done without a bad attitude.” Sam smirked at the younger, “You know your professors can tell when you’re fed up with their assignments by the way you write.”
Tara scoffed with a roll of her eyes, “Oh please, I’m not a baby, Sam. I can do shit on my own, thank you very much.” She interlaced her fingers behind her and arched her back with a strained groan, loosening the tight vertebrae of her spine. “And my professors can suck it. It’s their fault for assigning dumbass papers.”
“Uh-huh, and it’s your fault for waiting to do them at the last minute.” Sam rose from her spot to cross over in front of the hall to Tara’s bedroom.
Tara, on the other hand, just turned back with an irritated sigh and put a hand on her hip. “Just go to bed, Sam. I’ll be fine.”
“Nope. I’m staying up until you finish.”
Tara’s face grew sourer as she pushed past her big sister and mumbled, “Good luck with that…”
But that didn’t bother Sam, for instead of watching her walk away, she hurried after her to pass her by and dart into the soft glow of her room.
“Sam!” Tara growled as she tore after her, not able to catch up very well due to her short height. She pushed open her door to find the older sitting at her desk with a smug look, and she huffed in annoyance. “Look, I don’t have time for this. Get up so I can finish my work and go to bed!”
Samantha shook her head and wiggled herself further into the chair, “No, I think I’m gonna stay right here–“
“Sam!”
“–until I see a smile,” she finished, staring at her sibling’s face, which twisted in confusion. “You’re not finishing unless you change your attitude, Tara. I’m not getting another five-minute-bitch-fest call from one of your professor’s all because you can’t write appropriately when moody.”
Tara scoffed and shook her head. She wasn’t in the mood to argue, and she was not about to let this draw out to a useless fight. “Fine. I’ll just sit on you to finish.”
And she did. But instead of Sam turning the seat around to face the computer, she stayed put and wrapped her arms around her sister.
“Sam, I’m serious. I’m not in the mood–“
“I know you aren’t, but I’m here to change that,” the older retorted, smirking into Tara’s neck as she started wiggling her fingers over her clothed abdomen.
“No-ho, what are you–?” Tara could barely manage to speak before kicking out with a startled yelp, “Sa-ham, stop it! Let me go-ho!”
“Not until I get a smile!” Sam giggled, nuzzling her baby’s sister’s neck before placing playful kisses to it.
“Na-ha-haaa!” The younger cringed, raising her shoulder to avoid the contact while her body slipped from her kicking, having the friction of her shirt against Sam’s body slide against each other and ride up to reveal her tan skin.
And Sam took the bait, holding her sister up with one arm wrapped around her ribs while the other attacked her bare stomach, roaming across the warm skin like she had all those years ago.
She and Tara had both grown up a lot, but there were some things that still remained…
“I bet I can find your smile now, huh?” The older cackled, stroking the curves of the younger’s sides before skittering around the gist of her belly, finding herself amused at the uncontrolled fluttering that had its owner giggling like mad.
“SA-HA-HAAAM STA-HA-HAAAP!” Tara was helpless, kicking her legs and leaning into her sister in defeat. She was definitely smiling now, no doubt about it. She had always been too sensitive for her own good, but Sam always seemed to have a special touch that automatically made her hyperactive nerves sport at huge grin and hearty laughs. “I’M SMILING, I’M SMI-HI-HI-HILING!”
“How do I know it’s real and you aren’t faking it?,” was the taunt of the night, for it led to Sam sweeping Tara up and pinning her on her bed so she could climb atop and target her sides and ribs with both hands. “How do I know, Tara? You’ve gotta show me!”
“I’M TRY-HI-HI-YING!” Tara didn’t fight her sister, just let her arms and legs flail at a desperate attempt to prove her point. The feathering on her delicate flesh had her squealing in delight as each rib was traced with black nails. Her face muscles already started to ache, and her voice was drowned in a fit of shrill laughter. “PLEA-HEA-HEASSE! SAMMY-HEE-HEEEYY!”
Sam relished the bliss joy and sensitivity her baby sister was beaming with as she chuckled upon the sight of her pearly whites. But she still had one more trick up her sleeve now that another area was open. “I do remember your tummy being one of your weakest spots, but what about your underarms, Tara?”
And before the victim could react, a flurry of light strokes and encouraging giggles from above had her crying out with tears pricking her eyes, “OH NO-HO-HOOO, PLEASE! SA-HA-HAAAM, I CA-HA-HA–“
Tara’s voice cut off into silent laughter that had her throwing her head back and her eyes screwing shut as she kicked her feet relentlessly. Her smile was prominent now alongside her gasps, which finally caught up to her when the tender licks on her armpits seized and she felt Sam’s weight shift to sit back on her thighs.
“Good girl,” Samantha teased, giving Tara’s exposed stomach one last scratch to earn a weak snicker. “Just like the old days, huh, Tara?”
Tara just laid there, a big grin still plastered on her face while her cheeks burned with a rosy glow, and her chest heaved alongside her asthmatic lungs. She gave a shy nod as a few more giggles slipped past her lips. “Yeah… Didn’t know I need it either…”
Sam smiled and pulled her baby sister’s shirt down before helping her sit up. “Think you can finish your work now with a better attitude?”
Tara rolled her eyes, still out of breath and on fire from embarrassment. “Yes…as long as you leave me alone and go to bed.”
“Oh, is that a challenge?” The older quizzed with claw like fingers that threatened the younger’s exposed neck.
“No-ho!” Tara shoved her away and went back to her desk.
“That’s what I thought,” Sam nodded before turning to exit, “Now, get that done so I don’t have to come back for round two.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Tara dismissed her with a wave of her hand. But just as Sam was about to shut the door, she turned around. “Sam?”
“Hmm?”
“Thank you…”
“Anytime, Tara.” Samantha gave a genuine, heartwarming smile, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”

Bonded Pair (Pt.3) - OCxGhost Backstory.
|| [<- Part Two] ||
pairing: COD OC!Victoria "Whiskey" Callahan x Simon "Ghost" Riley words: 1.5K~ cw: injury (Ghost was bleeding out :))

There's something to be said about the way It Went from there.
Having four months worth of other missions after a mere twenty-three days together didn't shake their connection.
He had paid leave at the end of those four months and spent them tracking her down.
It was surprisingly hard.
He had two weeks worth of leave and only found her on day 12 of 14.
But when he did…
He came out of nowhere. Didn't even warn her.
Whiskey just suddenly had a body next to hers, an arm and a knee nudging hers, having to share binoculars and MREs, two messy, scribbled penmanships on her notebook, a warm arm around her while she slept off for her shift.
Then he was gone again.
-
Two more months later, a new assignment. SAS again, assisting 'Task Force 141'. Just like early on in the year.
Ghost again.
Price was there too. Not that Whiskey cared.
She spent a good few hours in water in a diving suit with Price, Ghost providing overwatch from a sniper position in a high building.
Ghost helped her out of her diving suit when they reconvened after the first part of the mission was done. Price pretended he didn't see it.
The mission went on as expected, successful, when he's got two stellar operators under him. Especially ones that seemed so… connected. Price pretended he didn't notice the hand gestures and intense eye contact.
Then, they had to camp out for a couple of nights in a safe house while waiting for the next part of the mission to begin.
That's when Price really got to see it.
Ghost and Whiskey were like one of those bonded pairs of feral cats that you hear so many stories about online. The ones that can't be adopted separately or they'll grow restless.
If left to their own devices, Ghost and Whiskey would share meals, sleep snuggled together, and "groom each other" clean.
Price watched as they ate, prepped their gear… They were silent most of the time but made obscene amounts of eye contact, wide-eyed with pupils blown, almost like they were about to jump at each other to mate. But they never did.
And they squeezed themselves together into a twin bed even though there was a couch available. Lying on their sides, chest to chest, her back against the wall, Simon's back toward Price, teethering on the edge of the bed.
Price knew what was happening. Probably knew it before they did. He didn't mention it, choosing to do so only when the mission was over.
It was on day three, as it all went into a shit show thar Price realized how deep their connection ran. It all went to shit. An ambush where they didn't expect it.
Price heard Ghost's ragged breaths and groan of a tone as he announced he got injured… While on the upperfloors of the skyscraper. Floor 32 or so, ambushed at his sniper nest.
And next thing he knew, Whiskey was brute-forcing her way up to Ghost.
Tossing him up into a fireman carry and braving the 30-floors worth of stairs, her voice came through the comms for everyone to hear.
It was accidental, a PTT that wasn't disabled and accidentally broadcasted her shouting at Ghost as she helped him.
"Don't you fucking DARE die on me, or I'll bring you back so I can KILL you myself for leaving me. You hear me?!"
"That's what I fucking thought, you fucking asshole."
"You're bleeding so fucking much I can feel it on my scalp and going down my back. You're ruining my hair, don't you dare die before I can yell at you for that."
"Don't you dare fall asleep. Keep your eyes fucking open and talk to me."
"Don't you fucking DARE die on me, Simon Riley."
And he didn't. Ghost stayed alive long enough to get airlifted out for treatment, leaving Whiskey drenched in his blood, looking like she'd just bathed in it.
And she merely returned to the battlefield to finish the mission.
-
Ghost had medical leave after that. The day he was discharged from the hospital after surgery, Price paid him a visit in his room.
Ghost was packing his bag. Already wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, a taut bandage around his abdominal wound, a new scar.
"So what's up with you and Lieutenant Callahan?"
"Nothing."
"Didn't seem like nothing."
"She seems like a good sort, is all."
"You realize that woman is in love with you, right?"
Ghost spun so fast he almost got lightheaded, dead eyes glaring right at Price's.
"What did you say?"
"She cares a lot about you. She made it very clear in how she kept begging you not to die while she was carrying you to the helo."
"Bloody hell… I thought I hallucinated that." Ghost murmured as he turned again and zipped up his bag.
"You didn't." Price said as he crossed his arms and leaned against the doorway.
Ghost didn't answer as he struggled to lift his gear bag over his shoulder, slinging it on.
"I extended her an invite to work with us. We needed an extra pair of hands while you're recovering."
Ghost looked at Price again. "She took it?"
"Mhm. She's staying with us." Price said and moved out of the way as Ghost approached the door to leave.
Ghost's eyes softened and then he nodded. "Okay."
"You know, wouldn't kill you to thank me." Price said as he watched Ghost leave the hospital room.
That same night, Ghost was knocking at her new barracks door.
She opened the door and looked up at him. She had just left the shower, wrapped only in a tank top and a pair of cargos.
Her hair was a bit damp and wild, the room smelled of her, of Vanilla. It was warm, the steam of the shower still somewhat present.
He looked at her, she looked at him. Eye contact, burning, as they stared. Words they didn't say. "You scared me to death." "I'm sorry." "I missed you." "I'm glad you're staying with us."
Then, she wordlessly moved out of the way, letting him inside as she approached the bed and sat down.
He closed the door and followed after her, already tugging off his balaclava on the way. She gave him space to lie down, him needing more of it after such a painful injury to the abdomen.
Then, she laid next to him, chest to chest, and they looked at each other again. Another silent conversation. "How are you feeling?" "Have been worse." "Does it hurt?" "Of course. But nothing I can't handle."
Then, he leaned down, and caught her mouth with his, his lips pressing onto hers, slow and gentle, tongue sliding in to meet hers.
Her hands grasped his jaw carefully, her thumbs grazing his poorly-shaven five o'clock shadow, his Glasgow smile, the bumps and imperfections from the acne on his cheeks.
His nose, meanwhile, softly rubbed against the scar on her cheek, his lips feeling the ribbed edge of it on her mouth, a texture he knew was there, a texture he craved, a texture he couldn't have enough of.
Slowly, he shifted his weight around, slotting himself between her thighs, lying atop her, one of her legs under his hip to support his weight, the other wrapped around the side of his hip, making sure his injury wasn't being pressed upon.
He held his weight up above her in one arm, leaning most of his weight on it, as well as her leg, almost sideways, in order to have a free one to slide all over her. The back of her neck, her shoulder blade, her side, her arm.
By the time they broke away, he looked at her, she looked at him. A glint of something in their eyes. They breathed slow, eye contact just as inordinately obscene as before.
Then, slowly, he shifted himself off her and turned away to sleep, leaving her staring at the back of his head, eyes softened and her heart beating like crazy in her chest.
"You know, if you keep staring at the back of my head, I'm gonna think you're planning to kill me." Simon ended up saying softly.
"You can't just go to sleep after that." Victoria ended replying.
"I sure can." He retorted, rolling his head a bit to look at him.
"You can't." She insisted as she stared at him. "We need to talk about that."
"Do we?" He asked her and cocked a brow up, staring right into her soul.
Another bout of eye contact, a longer one, carrying feelings neither of them quite knew how to express.
Then, she shook her head and curled herself against him, hugging him from behind. "Guess not." She murmured.

This has been on my mind a lot, and every trans fem person I’ve said it to has realized they do struggle with this, so I’m going to share here.
Posting here because I expect this to piss some people off & don’t want it directly associated with my main.
I’ll make this as anonymous as possible, because some of it began from a conversation with an in-person/IRL friend whom I’m living with, & I don’t want to expose them. But apart from that piece of context, I’ll address the general trans community, especially our trans fem siblings & sisters (& any other term y’all may prefer).
Also getting this out of the way up front, I am trans myself. I am not speaking from outside the trans community, though I am speaking from a trans masculine / nonbinary experience.
I have a lot of trans fem friends now (mostly nonbinary, by coincidence), & saw the (often (unfortunately) necessary) assumptions that cis women & AFAB people made/had to make as I grew up. I watched AFAB folks & women assume things about men*, & heard them speak to the horrible things some entitled men did to them. I’ve been listening to my trans fem friends & asking questions about their experience with femininity, & about how men treat them if they pass.
(* though our society makes it necessary (for your own safety & sanity), if you’re AFAB, to assume the worst & hope for the best¹ - I want to make it clear that I’m not invalidating anyone here, especially as someone who had to assume the same things. I’m using the word assume to mean that we didn’t know for certain every single man would be of this type, not that many men weren’t this type)
(¹ not to say men can’t be SAed by other men, or that queer SA doesn’t exist, because it does. I’m simply speaking from my experience here, & speaking to the binary white supremacist patriarchal society we’re trapped in, not trying to speak over folks with queer trauma or to invalidate other people who distrust men)
~~~~
Important Note: I marked this with a community label not because it involves trans people (especially trans fem folks & trans women), but because it explicitly includes sex mentions (having to do with touch starvation & social conditioning). I want to make that clear due to the transphobia online, even from trans masc folks / trans men. Trans woman & trans fem people are not inherently sexual or bad, & don’t need a ‘mature’/sexual warning label.
~
I am probably over-explaining here (all the clarifications above), but I’d rather over-explain than have someone take my post & words to support their transphobic rhetoric. I also want my fellow trans & queer people to feel seen and supported, as much as I am capable of.
Now, onto the pattern I’ve been noticing & starting to share with people.
~~~~
I was talking to my roommate (they/she) about their struggle with finding friends & romantic partners that last. They struggle to make & maintain friendships, & I’m trying to help when requested/desired.
She said “not to support transphobic rhetoric about being unable to escape your assigned gender at birth, but I feel like there’s a biological...something that makes me unable to connect with people the way I want to”. She struggles with sex addiction that she doesn’t want, & they were worried it was inescapable.
With other conversations we’ve had, and with my pattern recognition, I made a leap.
“It’s not biological, it’s social. It’s baked into our [United Statesian] culture.
It’s because [most] assigned-male people in our society aren’t allowed to have platonic affection. If you’re affectionate with men, you’re gay. If you’re affectionate with women, you wanna fuck her or you’re a pervert. Being assigned male means, especially to Christian men, that you crave sex and wouldn’t be affectionate with anyone of any gender if that wasn’t on your mind.”
Most men & AMAB people become sex addicted because it’s the only form of affection they’re allowed to have. They’re told they’re unmanly (a pussy, not a real man, etc.) if they want to be held or to cry, or accused of being gay for holding a man.
They’re affection starved, touch starved. They’re actually craving intimacy, which doesn’t have to be sexual.
That said, tying this back in to trans folks—
Trans women & trans feminine people, especially on HRT but post social transition too, are often pointed out (or even shamed) for having a “hoe phase”. The pattern I see is that this doesn’t just happen because they’re finally being sexualized as their true self, it’s also because they don’t tend to seek out platonic affection &/or don’t think they deserve any.
When I pointed out to my roommate & to another trans fem friend, they broke down crying.
“If I seek out platonic affection, I’m always called a pervert,” my roommate explained. “I don’t feel like I’m allowed to ask.”
I asked how long it’s been since they’ve been platonically held. They thought about it, then came back with something heartbreaking: “I was five. After that, my dad decided it wasn’t cute anymore. ‘That’s little kid shit’. I had affection and then it was ripped away from me.”
I suspect other trans fem folks & trans women have the same struggle. They didn’t get platonic affection at all, or had it ripped away from them at a young age. They were accused of wanting sex if they touched anyone at all. They were attacked with homophobic slurs (faggot, gay, etc. as slurs) or accused of being gay if they reached for a man. They were brushed off as immature, childish, or overly feminine if they wanted platonic affection.
I don’t believe this applies to everyone, but it’s a heartbreakingly high number.
I hope this helps someone like it helped my roommate. She now knows what she wants to search for, and they’re succeeding at finding connections that meet those needs. I hope you can find people who respect your need for affection & offer you platonic affection.
Just like cis women, y’all aren’t sexual toys or objects (without your consent, not kink shaming). You’re people, and your feelings do matter. (/sincere)
And to my fellow trans masc people & trans men, please offer affection to your trans fem friends (don’t force it obv). Let them know they deserve affection.
We can fight this together— we’re stronger together. 💜
