Chapter Nine — New Phase
Tumblr media
t.o.c ; << | >>
Link could have been back earlier, but he needed a minute.
Nothing could have prepared him for the Divine Beast. He expected fighting, but puzzles? He didn't think he'd also have to use his brain instead of just his brawn, but that made some sense since the shrines were also predominately puzzles.
The small underlings of Ganon's weren't difficult. Just little sentries, designed to look like mini guardians. The creature of malice that had defeated Mipha, however, was different.
She called it 'Waterblight Ganon', a small manifestation of his power sent to destroy the Champions and claim the beasts as his own like he did the other Ancient technologies. Link could see how a monster like that would be difficult to beat.
After Vah Ruta traveled her way to a spot to aim her beam at Hyrule Castle, Link took a break.
He sat on the grass next to the Beast, staying there long after Mipha's spirit had disappeared.
His chest felt heavy. Grief was already a strange emotion— he'd known that from when he lost his parents. But to grieve someone you don't remember meeting? He didn't even know what he was grieving. Mipha was apparently a close friend, consoling him on the days when Zelda became a bit too much to handle.
He remembered her, but only a bit. He knew that he knew her. He knew that they were close, but that was it. To learn that she had crafted the Zora Armor he wore because she wanted to marry him—
The Zora Armor.
You would think it looked so cool. He had to get back and show you. He knew you would love to hear about what happened.
Link groaned and stretched, sore from the fighting and dreading the trek back to the Domain. But he was excited too, to see you again and tell you about everything that happened.
———
A delicious smell wafted through the openings of the inn as you and Kodah worked tirelessly over the cooking pot, countless servings of seafood paella being churned out as word of Vah Ruta's defeat began to spread.
Zora's noticed her return to her original place high above the Kingdom hours ago, but Link had yet to come back. You tried to ignore the anxiety that rested deep in your stomach and focus on the dinner in front of you, but you couldn't help but watch the front of the Domain as you helped serve the Zora citizens their feast.
"Staring isn't going to make him magically appear, you know." Kodah teased. You rolled your eyes.
"I'm just a little worried. Vah Ruta has been fine for a few hours now. What if he's so injured that he can't make it back?"
"I think you're full of blubber." Kodah scooped another serving of paella for a Zora in line. "You of all people know that he's supposed to defeat Ganon. Do you really think he'd let something like this get him so easily?"
Considering he almost died before, maybe.
But you didn't want to say that, so instead you shrugged, tossing in another batch of shrimp to the pot.
"I put my full faith in him. But he's still Hylian at the end of the day. He's mortal. Might not be dead, but he could be hurt."
"You say you don't doubt me, but it sure sounds like you do."
There was a beat of silence as you processed the third voice that joined the conversation, and then your ladle fell to the ground.
You whipped around, unable to contain the smoke that stretched across your face as you rushed towards Link. He had a grin of his own, but it quickly faded into a look of surprise as you practically tackled him to the ground in a tight hug. Link took the brunt of the fall as you landed on top of him, but if it hurt he didn't show it. Instead he hugged you back, his arms sliding around your waist and squeezing. His cheek rested on your head.
"What took you so long! Are you okay?" You pulled away only a few inches to inspect him, but seeing as though he seemed fine you returned to your spot under his chin.
"Just needed a breather. Solving a bunch of puzzles and fighting an entity that's just a mini Ganon takes a lot out of you.
"And I bet the puzzles were harder than the fight." You snorted.
"That's just rude." Link playfully shoved you off of him, sticking his nose in the air. He didn't deny it. "What is that smell? I'm starving."
As if on cue, his stomach rumbled. You laughed and stood up, offering your hand to him. Link took it and hoisted himself up, the task a bit more difficult with how tired he was.
"Kodah and I made a huge seafood paella dinner for everyone to celebrate. We made sure to make enough for you when you came back."
"Oh my goddess, really?" Link's mouth watered as he watched you scoop a serving for him. "You're the best thing to ever happen to me."
You slightly flushed, but ignored his comment in favor of making your own plate and informing Kodah of your departure to eat with Link. You led him to a more secluded area, away from the crowds, figuring that he'd had enough of the socialization for a while. You certainly had.
You watched as Link took a tentative bite of the paella before diving in. You couldn't help but laugh. "You're gonna choke if you don't slow down."
"You go do the shit I did and then tell me that again."
"I would, but you said I'm not allowed." You joked, playfully pouting.
Link rolled his eyes. "Right. And after experiencing it, my rule still stands. If anything, it stands even stronger."
"Really? It was that bad, huh?"
"Uh, some parts were." He put down his utensils for a second. "It's draining, that's for sure. I, uh, saw the old Champion."
"Mipha?" Sidon had given you the rundown after returning from Link.
"Yeah. I remembered her. It sucked, but in like a different way than usual." You stayed silent, so he continued. "Like, obviously I knew her and was close with her. So I should be grieving her death, right? Except, I'm not because I don't remember her. So I only feel guilty now, because I feel like I should feel worse about it and that makes me feel even worse but in a different way. And it doesn't make any sense but—"
Link's rambling was cut off as you laid your hand on his. His eyes shot up to meet yours, the calming aura reflecting in them helping to soothe him a bit.
"Link, your circumstances are one in a million. There's a lot of things that should have happened, or ways that things should be, but guess what? It didn't happen. You've got to navigate an entirely new life— you're still in the same body as 100 years ago, but everything is different now. The land, the times, even you seem more different than how you described how you used to be. You told me that you never talked, but now you're so talkative.
Maybe 100 years ago you'd grieve properly, but even then is there even a right way to grieve? Everyone handles it differently. You feel guilty for not remembering her, right?"
Link nodded, averting his eyes in shame. You squeezed his hand.
"From what you do remember, do you think she'd want you to be sad about it? Or do you think she'd want you to just think about the happy times you can remember?"
"Definitely the happy times." He had a far-away look in his eyes, probably playing the few memories he does have of Mipha in his head. "She was always about being strong and looking on the bright side."
"And she believed that you fit her mindset so similarly that she wanted to marry you! You, of all people. Marriage material? I don't know about that—"
"Hey! I'll let you know I'd make a perfect husband." Link huffed and sent a grin your way. "It's not like I would've married her anyways. When I remember her, I get the feeling that I loved her as more of a sister than anything. I didn't even know about the Armer being made."
"And what cool armor it is." You laughed.
You'd brought up the marriage subtly, wanting to get Link's input on it without him teasing you for caring so much. When Sidon told you of Mipha's story, you questioned whether Link returned her feelings or not. You hated to admit, but you were definitely a little jealous. Not in a romantic way, of course.
In more of a "You're my first friend in a very long time and I don't want anyone else to have your attention" kind of way. Yeah. You had one more question to curb your jealous curiosity for the day, though.
"If not Mipha, what about Zelda? Isn't it like a fairy tale come true for a princess and her knight to fall in love?"
"No," Link laughed and shook his head, as if it was some absurd idea. "Zelda hated me up until a few days before Ganon attacked, I'm pretty sure. Plus, she was into some other knight at the castle. That's another reason why she was so mad that I was her knight and he wasn't."
"Oh come on." You felt better, but now you just wanted to tease. "There's no way a guy like you wasn't drowning in women."
Link flushed, and you bit back a laugh. "N-no! I told you, I didn't even talk to anyone! I was so focused on being a knight, and then being the Champion, I didn't have time for anything else."
"You for sure had women eyeing you. There's no way you didn't. You're too handsome for that."
Link continued to flush. He'd mentioned many times before that in the past, the burden of protecting Hyrule kept him stoic and quiet, but you had to tease him. His social skills were never entirely up to par.
"Stop messing with me." He finally let go of your hand and grabbed his utensils again to finish the paella. "What did you do when I was gone?"
You looked at your plate for a split second, trying to make a decision on what to say. Link would be so upset if you fought a monster alone, but you would like to think he'd also be proud.
You remembered moments before the fight, when the Yiga member taunted you from the trees. He beckoned you back to Gerudo under potentially false promises of knowing your brother's location.
"I just healed. Rested and went on a walk or two to keep my muscles from getting stiff."
"That's it?" Link didn't sound convinced. "Very unlike you to actually listen to Doctor's orders."
"Yeah, well," You paused for a second, trying to think of literally anything to defend yourself. Sometimes, telling the truth is the best lie you could create. "I just didn't want to hold you back from any more of the journey, so I wanted to get better as soon as possible."
Nobody ever said it had to be the truth of the current situation.
"Oh please," Link waved his hand, "I'd carry you on my back across Hyrule if I had to."
You didn't have a solid response to that and you were nearly certain Link was unaware of the feeling he just gave you in the pit of your stomach. You needed to change the subject.
"How long do you think it'll be until we reach Gerudo?"
"I was planning on hitting Elden next since its closer. Any reason why?"
Bad change of subject.
"Uh, I just miss my family there a bit. But if we're going to Elden first, I can wait. No worries."
You wouldn't show that it was indeed major worries, but perhaps when Link was off fighting the Divine Beast on Death Mountain you could scout another Yiga soldier and make them give you more information. It didn't feel right doing all of this behind his back, but you were feeling more and more desperate to reach Hiro with every passing moment, especially now that you knew your next move.
You always worked best alone during the little missions that the Yiga had sent you out on. It was taking all of your self-restraint to not just up and leave now to find Hiro, but you also felt a sense of responsibility towards Link. Like it was your own personal mission to protect him from the Yiga and any other threat that may come to him during his mission.
You knew the minute you realized who he was that your old way of life would no longer work. You needed to adapt and find new ways to solve your issues in your new phase of life.
Your new phase with Link by your side.

Chapter 2 Republic City
The grand adventure of the world started out in a mundane fashion. His voyage on the large water tribe ship began by sailing for a long standing resort north of the United Nations. From there Prince Kodah of the Northern Water Tribe was to gain passage on a significantly smaller river cruiser to ride down south. His father, Chief Denali, had instructed him to ride the current down past the old Fire Nation stronghold- Pohuai, keep going till he reach Harbor Town where he might have to change vassals to eventually arrive at Republic City. Along the way he would pass Mount Makapu while entering Mo Ce Sea. Chief Denali informed his oldest son that this sea had been apart of the legendary battle between Phoenix King Ozai and Avatar Aang. Not that Kodah really believed the avatar was still relevant. In truth Kodah was indifferent to the avatar's existence. He believed there were flaws in having one person possess all the power in the world. Besides, the last one had died in the special all mystical avatar state so the Fire Nation had nothing to search for in his eyes.
He had been sailing for a day, a night, and another day. Kodah had expected the first leg of his journey from the Northern Water Tribe capitol to Republic City to take about four to five days. So far everything was on schedule and he was quietly excited to see the modern setting. While the tribe did progress with the innovative ways of present society their historical roots were still strongly featured. Some people claimed that they would never change their ways, unlike the Earth Region. Those of spring had gone from a kingdom, to an empire, to the current providential democracy. Not that is was much progress. Apparently they were having trouble coming to agreements on class divisions as the rich of Ba Sing Se still wanted complete control. The legendary city was a place Kodah wanted to see before returning to the North Pole. His father would be expecting him to return a man grown and ready to take his place as Chief of the Tribe when the time came.
Since this was to be the longest time away from his homeland, Kodah was saddened by the prolonged separation from his family. He knew this was a necessary part of his life- to experience things by himself. But he still missed his four younger siblings. Sitka, fifteen, was especially close with Kodah followed by Nanook at thirteen years old, then his younger sisters Okami (twelve) and Aurora (nine). They were a larger royal family than in recent generations. And even more remarkable was that not all of them were waterbenders. To his great shame Kodah did not possess the divine ability over their ancestral element. His parents, brothers, and sisters were all waterbenders while the eldest prince never showed signs. This nature of himself plagued Kodah for years and to some extent still does. He feels like a failure and undeserving of being of the tribe. When he was a young boy he would pray daily at the Spirit Oasis. Endlessly watching the two koi fish, Tui and La, and wishing he would be granted the ability. The spirits never answered him directly and Kodah cursed himself for being unable to waterbend. One night he fell asleep while praying and had a dream of himself looking into the pool with the moon and ocean spirits. A reflection stared back at him of Kodah himself practicing with swords. His confidence soared as he felt worthy of something. Immediately after waking he rushed to his father and requested to be trained in the art of the blade. His many years of lessons have turned Kodah into an accomplished swordsman wielding a taijijian and a shorter tantō.
While some travelers opted to wear nation neutral clothing Kodah kept his Water Tribe identifiers. Though he did make some changes, not wearing thick parkas or other snowy furs. He left his traditional hoods coats and multi lined boots at home. He would not need such polar weathered clothes. Now Kodah wore thinner brown boots, dark bluish black pants stuffed into the boots, a half length kimono in light blue with grey accents over a long sleeved dark blue black shirt / tied by a grey belt in the front, over the top of his long sleeved shirt Kodah wears grey armbands with tribal markings on them (covered by kimono), around his waste (as a bridge of his pants and kimono) is a traditional brown half skirt shawl, lastly he wears his taijijian sword in a sheath across his back and his tantō short sword sheathed on his right hip.
Kodah was lost in thought until he heard the whistle of the boat go off and sailors rushing around to prepare to dock. Glancing up from where he had been watching the waves roll by he saw that they were in sight of Republic City. The buildings towered over them as they sailed closer. Kodah had few possessions on him so didn't have to worry about unloading his luggage. Instead he simply walked off the loading ramp after they had docked ship in a harbor. Walking down the streets he was in awe. The ever moving nature of the city was wild. Nothing was still nor calm. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry and was moving quickly about their business. Kodah headed for the portion of the city where his father had told him Water Tribe people gathered. There was a tea house he desired to visit.
For as long as he could remember Kodah cherished the herbal drink. Tea for the longest time had not been common in the water tribes, one positive change in the advancing world was the rise of trading and communications with other nations. The Northern Water Tribe exported their local goods of fish and furs and in exchange acquired many luxuries not normally found in the poles. Kodah had become something of a tea fanatic and learned how to brew all different kinds. His mother had recommended that he visit a specific water tribe tea shop in Republic City, the Moon Tea House. Kodah was interested in tasting different culture's design of the time old beverage, he had even brought his own set and special leaves for brewing- that and his money and two swords were all he brought from home.
As he walked down the busy streets of Republic City, Kodah followed the familiar smell of fish and other water tribe symbols. It was amazing to him how well the integration went between the four elements and now five nations. He saw several people who were clearly representing their heritage and others appeared with no affiliation what so ever. As he entered the heart of the strong water tribe presence he saw the sign outside showing him he had reached his first destination. Kodah peered inside through the open sliding doors and saw that while they were full with customers it was not overly crowded. Kodah ordered a pot of white tea, stepped with hotter water for longer to allow the caffeine to be stronger. The waitress was pleasantly surprised to have a customer who understood the brewing process and made a simple order. While he waiting Kodah relaxed in the cozy ambiance of the tea house.

A Moment of Weakness
I can’t believe my first Sidon and Link writing is this awful angst. I promise I started off with another one that was very sweet and simple but I haven’t finished it because this monster took over ajhfgjf it rolled around my head for weeks and one night recently while talking with Squishy I just poured it all out at once. title is a reference to some of Sidon’s dialogue.Ā
media: Breath of the Wild pairing: sidlink words: 2,124 warnings:Ā mildly graphic depictions of violence/pain, mentions of family death
He’d really done it this time.
Clearing the camps of monsters scattered everywhere had become routine, something Link could do as he passed by. This particular one looked fairly packed; running right in would be way more than he could handle. So he was in the midst of a daring plan that involved climbing a tree and aiming for the barrel of explosives nearby - and somewhere amidst the climb and readying his bow is when it went wrong.
A watchman that Link had missed spotted him, immediately screeching a warning. The same barrel that Link planned to ignite was picked up and tossed at him, the plume of flaming smoke billowing just under his toes as he held onto the tip of the tree for dear life. For a second he marveled at his good luck, ready to let out an adrenaline-filed whoop - when a splintering crack abruptly replaced his glee with fear. The base of the tree crumbled and broke, sending the timber swooping toward the ground with a thundering crash.
Link just barely managed to brace his feet on the clear side, kicking off and rolling away from the heavy log as it settled. He leapt to his feet and whipped around, reaching for his sword, but a heavy club slammed into him and he was sent flying toward the ground a second time - in considerably more pain.
The monsters squealed and hollered as they circled around the injured Hylian, jabbing blunt spears and jagged blades that he just barely managed to parry as he dazedly got to his feet and readied his weapon.
It was no use. Every attack that he evaded was instantly replaced by another, an infinite loop of pricks and scratches and blows that steadily wore down his energy and started to dig through his tunic.
He could have thought something profound about how ā€œthis is the way the hero of Hyrule dies - bludgeoned by little more than scavengersā€ if he had the time to make such coherent connections. Instead, he pressed through the pain, trying to see an opening, getting desperate to find his way out of this nightmare. A cliffside, a hill, a traveler - surely something had to open an escape to him.
All at once it came to him, but it would take a risk that he didn’t know if he could afford. Then he saw the circle closing in and he knew that it was only a matter of uncertain death versus certain death. He tapped the screen on his hip, a glowing orb appearing then growing to the full bomb size in his palm. The monsters only got a second to yelp anxiously before the blast hit them all.
Link was thrown far off, same as his assailants, the magical force of the rune bomb stinging his skin until the unforgiving hardness of the ground replaced that pain completely. He wanted to just lie there in his half-blind with agony state and never move again, but the shuffle of the monsters rapidly recovering and searching for their prey brought him to his senses. He just barely managed to raise the Sheikah Slate, opening the map and tapping a familiar zone quickly, hoping he’d chosen the right one. Safety, he thought with such force he could have sworn the slate vibrated in response.
The last he saw was the monsters scrambling toward him until the blue light engulfed him entirely, deconstructing him into nothingness and whisking him away.
ā—ˆ
Night had fallen over Hyrule; morning was just hesitating to break. Zora’s Domain glittered and glowed, chasing away the darkness with graceful beauty. Many of the Zora were still asleep, while the ever-loyal guards rotated their shifts. Bazz moved to the the lower level of the courtyard, his spear held strongly at his side as he scanned his eyes over the area. All seemed to be well, so he turned and stared curiously at that strange monument housed at the very heart of the Domain, one that he’d seen for so many, many years, but only a few months ago had taken on an orange glow that changed to blue once that brave Hylian had visited it.
He stared at that blue light intently for a long while, as though studying it for the thousandth time would give him further answers. All at once, another form of blue light formed before his very eyes, beautiful tendrils that waved toward the ground before dissipating as quickly as it had appeared. Bazz stood stunned for a short moment, but shook himself out of it and peered over the stairs to see what such a display could mean.
The crumpled, scuffed, and bloody form of the Hylian registered at the same time he recognized the face. ā€œLink!ā€
Bazz dropped his spear and ran down the stairs, dropping to his knees at Link’s side and cautiously reaching to check for signs of life. He feared moving the boy until he knew the extent of the injuries… should he still be alive. A rush of relief washed over the Zora as he found a faint heartbeat, and he immediately rushed back up the stairs and toward the inn where the nearest Zora was just heading inside. ā€œKodah! Kodah!ā€
Kodah startled at the wild-eyed look of the usually so composed guard as he spoke quickly. ā€œIt’s Link- he’s hurt.ā€ She gasped, but he continued before she could ask the questions on her lips. ā€œI’ll be with him- at the shrine. Please, fetch Prince Sidon immediately!ā€
ā€œOf- of course!ā€ She hurried off, running toward the stairs while Bazz returned to Link’s side. His expression drew into a grimace of empathy pains as he gingerly inspected the injuries. Having no fabric of his own, he tore a shred from Link’s battered tunic to wrap around a heavily bleeding gash on his arm. ā€œLink, can you hear me? You’re at Zora’s Domain now. You’re going to be okay.ā€ It was unclear if Link was conscious enough to hear him, but he hoped with all his might that he could.
A nearby thud got Bazz’s attention, and he looked up to see the Prince had bypassed the rounded stairs and simply leapt down the level in his haste. ā€œBazz, what’s- Link!ā€ Sidon’s eyes went wide.
A crippling pain dulled Sidon’s usually so cheerful eyes, and Bazz immediately felt his own heart clench even tighter. ā€œHe’s alive, but very badly hurtā€¦ā€ he moved aside to let Sidon kneel over the boy, touching him so gently, as though he might break. ā€œI don’t know how he got here it was just… a sudden light brought him. I’m not sure he can be moved, he’s been beaten and stabbed a great deal and I fear broken bones.ā€
Sidon listened carefully, but poured equal attention into looking over the wounds and softly caressing the cheek of his treasured one. With each cut and bruise he saw he felt as though his own heart was being given the same wound. Link stirred at last, just barely fluttering his eyes and giving a pained exhale. ā€œIt doesn’t matter, because he cannot stay here. I can carry him to the healer.ā€
With the most cautious of movements, Sidon managed to slide his hands underneath Link’s limp body and lifted him with little jostling. He ascended the stairs, keeping a close eye on his charge as he began the somber walk across the domain.
ā—ˆ
Sidon found no solace after he left Link to the hands of the Zora healer. He paced, he prayed, he wrung his hands. He found the ache of his passed sister split open again as he prayed to her spirit to please- save him, if you can hear me. Hero of the people be damned, Sidon didn’t want to lose another piece of his heart to mourning. Help me save him, as I could not save you.
The image of the bright, sparkling boy he’d spent so many afternoons with, watching the stories he wove with his hands, feeling the ease in his spirit as they floated down the river together, seeing the determination in his eyes when he used the break to practice his way with the sword- to know him as Sidon did, and to see him in a state so torn down- it was agony.
The healer finally opened the door, and Sidon rushed over, tears pooling in his eyes.
ā€œLet your heart find peace, my Prince. He lives.ā€
ā—ˆ
Everything was so… dark. And blue. Link could tell this much from behind his eyelids. The Shrine of Resurrection… I’ve been born again. He thought simply, seeing the small stone room in his mind’s eye. No… I wouldn’t know anything about that, if that’s what happened. I wouldn’t remember.
ā€œLink? Are you awake?ā€
His wandering attention came back to what was, not what could be. He slowly managed to blink his eyes partway open, noticing he was propped up on a bed of some sort, a blanket draped over him.
ā€œSidon…?ā€
The Zora’s face went from apprehension to a smile that scrunched his whole face, tears falling freely as he ducked his head over Link’s body. Link realized Sidon’s hand was over his and he tried to turn his hand to weakly clasp it.
Link gently stroked the top of Sidon’s head, watching him with a drowsy fondness, but also concern. ā€œWhy are you so sad?ā€ He whispered.
Sidon took a deep breath, laughing lightly. ā€œNo, I… I’m not sad. Not anymore.ā€ He composed himself enough to lift his head, allowing Link to hold his cheek. ā€œI’m so happy you’re alive- I don’t know how you found your way to me in the state you were in… but thank the goddesses you did.ā€
Link smiled a little bit, tilting his head, his thumb rubbing Sidon’s smooth Zora skin. After a moment the lingering pain set in, and his face fell. ā€œI was… outnumbered. Yeah… I got overwhelmed. The only way out was… the slate-ā€œ he looked around with sudden concern until Sidon clasped his hands.
ā€œAll of your things are just beside you. However… your armor was damaged, and even so had to be removed quickly to treat you. The healer found another set of clothes amongst your supplies, I hope you don’t mind.ā€ He plucked at the worn blanket with his fingers. ā€œAnd this was the only extra blanket we had on hand. It seems we should begin to make preparations for the return of Hylian travelers.ā€
Link smiled again at that, resting back again. ā€œIt looks like I’ll be here for a little while, so I guess you gotta start now,ā€ he joked, putting a smile on Sidon’s face in return.
ā€œThis is one of the few times I’ve heard your voice,ā€ Sidon noted after a moment, peering curiously at Link.
ā€œMe too,ā€ Link replied, opening one eye to peer right back at Sidon, who became sheepish. He drew back, mulling over something until finally he gently pulled Link forward to embrace him. Link automatically snuggled into Sidon’s chest, the comforting and familiar softness of the slick skin relaxing him.
The hug became a little tighter, and Link rubbed soothing circles wherever his hand could reach. ā€œI’m okay, Sidon. I’ve got two against zero on death now. I’m not going anywhere.ā€
ā€œBut you are always so reckless… I just couldn’t bear it ifā€¦ā€ he sighed, a puff of air far over Link’s head. ā€œYou are wild and wandering, and I fear the day your bravery makes you foolish. You may have lost your memories, but you are whole as you are now, Link. You are loved.ā€
Link buried himself deeper into Sidon’s chest in response.
ā€œā€¦I would like to tear apart the beasts who did this to you… to me. And should the blood moon rise, I’ll do it over again.ā€ Sidon’s voice was soft, but it now trembled lightly with his pain.
Link nudged Sidon with the palm of his hand. ā€œNow who’s reckless?ā€ He murmured. ā€œNo hunting monsters. That’s my job. You stay as far away from… from all this as you can. Because when all this is gone- you still gotta be here for me to come back to. That’s- that’s your job.ā€ He struggled over the words, ending up muttering down toward his lap as he hugged Sidon’s chest. ā€œYou are the brightest thing I’ve seen in Hyrule yet. Please- stay… stay that way. You are loved, too.ā€
Sidon looked down at Link in surprise, and gently held him at the shoulders as Link stared down at his hands. ā€œThen so I shall.ā€
Link let Sidon scoop him up, and he stayed nestled safe in his arms for a long time, knowing he was alive and home.
