I run Linux on my personal computer and have for years.
It's intuitive once you get it going.
It doesn't have bloatware or AI or spyware.
It runs all of my videogames easily.
I honestly don't know why anyone wouldn't use it except for the learning curve of getting it running, but there are a ton of tutorials and such to help.
Highly recommend Linux.
And yes, I am a giant nerd. 🤓

Okay brain trust - who can think of why my PC would crash during certain cut scenes of DA:I? Not just the game but the whole PC, and it needs power cycling to start back up again. No error, no blue screen, just instant complete tanking. It's happened in 3 cut scenes (so far!) at the exact same frame. BUT If I skip quickly through the specific cut scenes, it works fine and I can keep playing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I am 75 hours in and its only happened in those 3 cut scenes. I have done a complete reinstall of DA:I, didn't help. Not running any mods.

Hello, we are officially opening Ko-fi Doodles.
Essentially, instead of getting a full commission, you can instead donate at least $10 over Ko-fi and we will do a drawing. These drawings will typically be messier, and less complicated than normal comms. However, they are nice little incentives to help support us.

Recently I was able to do an SSD upgrade in my ASUS Terminator P4 thanks to receiving a gift card from a friend as a birthday gift. The normal Startech adapter that I use to adapt SATA SSDs to 40-pin IDE was out of stock on Amazon, so I bought a cheaper, no-name one instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After cloning the hard disk to the SSD, I tried to boot it up only for it to not be recognized as bootable. This was strange to me, because it was detected in PartedMagic just fine and was properly identified by the BIOS. So I tried cloning using a different method, same result. Once more, tried cloning only for it to produce the same result.
Stumped, I took to Google, only to find a Reddit post where someone was describing the exact issue I was having. According to one of the comments, the solution was to disable UDMA on the SSD/adapter. So that's what I did, and it worked, albeit at a major speed decline.

But, I increased my storage capacity more than sixteen times what it was previously, so I was happy with it.

I fully expect the issue and solution to vary based on BIOS/IDE controller/motherboard, and I know the AwardBIOS in this machine is a bit weird at times.

Wasted a day and 100gb off my monthly wifi cap to download a game that Legitimately won't load past the main menu after 30+ min of waiting. Love the state of modern AAA gaming

KIOXIA Unveils 122.88TB LC9 Series NVMe SSD to Power Next-Gen AI Workloads
Tumblr media
KIOXIA America, Inc. has announced the upcoming debut of its LC9 Series SSD, a new high-capacity enterprise solid-state drive (SSD) with 122.88 terabytes (TB) of storage, purpose-built for advanced AI applications. Featuring the company’s latest BiCS FLASH™ generation 8 3D QLC (quad-level cell) memory and a fast PCIe® 5.0 interface, this cutting-edge drive is designed to meet the exploding data demands of artificial intelligence and machine learning systems.
As enterprises scale up AI workloads—including training large language models (LLMs), handling massive datasets, and supporting vector database queries—the need for efficient, high-density storage becomes paramount. The LC9 SSD addresses these needs with a compact 2.5-inch form factor and dual-port capability, providing both high capacity and fault tolerance in mission-critical environments.
Form factor refers to the physical size and shape of the drive—in this case, 2.5 inches, which is standard for enterprise server deployments. PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) is the fast data connection standard used to link components to a system’s motherboard. NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is the protocol used by modern SSDs to communicate quickly and efficiently over PCIe interfaces.
Accelerating AI with Storage Innovation
The LC9 Series SSD is designed with AI-specific use cases in mind—particularly generative AI, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and vector database applications. Its high capacity enables data-intensive training and inference processes to operate without the bottlenecks of traditional storage.
It also complements KIOXIA’s AiSAQ™ technology, which improves RAG performance by storing vector elements on SSDs instead of relying solely on costly and limited DRAM. This shift enables greater scalability and lowers power consumption per TB at both the system and rack levels.
“AI workloads are pushing the boundaries of data storage,” said Neville Ichhaporia, Senior Vice President at KIOXIA America. “The new LC9 NVMe SSD can accelerate model training, inference, and RAG at scale.”
Industry Insight and Lifecycle Considerations
Gregory Wong, principal analyst at Forward Insights, commented:
“Advanced storage solutions such as KIOXIA’s LC9 Series SSD will be critical in supporting the growing computational needs of AI models, enabling greater efficiency and innovation.”
As organizations look to adopt next-generation SSDs like the LC9, many are also taking steps to responsibly manage legacy infrastructure. This includes efforts to sell SSD units from previous deployments—a common practice in enterprise IT to recover value, reduce e-waste, and meet sustainability goals. Secondary markets for enterprise SSDs remain active, especially with the ongoing demand for storage in distributed and hybrid cloud systems.
LC9 Series Key Features
122.88 TB capacity in a compact 2.5-inch form factor
PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 support for high-speed data access
Dual-port support for redundancy and multi-host connectivity
Built with 2 Tb QLC BiCS FLASH™ memory and CBA (CMOS Bonded to Array) technology
Endurance rating of 0.3 DWPD (Drive Writes Per Day) for enterprise workloads
The KIOXIA LC9 Series SSD will be showcased at an upcoming technology conference, where the company is expected to demonstrate its potential role in powering the next generation of AI-driven innovation.

My ssd came in today and my brother's been installing it and setting shit up while I'm at work and the good news is that it's working and everything seems normal so it really was just an ssd issue. My brother thinks windows mightve just up and fried it?
Now we're doing a windows cloud restore to see what it has tucked away bc like. I think i turned it off but I actually have no idea. I think ultimately the vaaaast majority of stuff is still on my old laptop bc I just popped that stuff over when i built the thing. I dunno. I'm still at work for 4 more hours and my gut hurts so bad I feel like I'm gunna throw up. Everything happens so much
