"asexuals are not oppressed"
I am so FUCKING tired of hearing this. So tired of hearing how they aren't allowed in the LGBT+ community because they aren't thrown out of homes and are not nearly as oppressed as to say other sexualities and genders in the LGBT+. And I'm directing this mainly towards those of LGBT+ community that use this excuse as to why Ace's are not allowed in the community.
Since when was any oppression ok? Since when does someone story not matter cause "it's not as big of a deal".
NO AMOUNT IS OK
EVERY STORY MATTERS
Sex and relationship are so, sooooo normalized in society. Even as a little kid, it's everywhere. In every tv show, book, movie.
I saw this story of a lesbian and how when they were growing up everytime they were at a sleepover or with a group of girls when they would be going aorund asking about crushes or who they thought was the hottest the fear the felt
and that was responded with so much positivity (and I'm so glad!) and people having the same situation happened to them
But the moment asexuals say that same story, everyone shrugs.
The people who say that we shouldn't be teaching what asexuality is to kids sound exactly like the ones who say the same about being gay or trans.
But everyone shrugs at that too. In their head it's about sex, but we're not teaching kids about sex were teaching them that not everyone has crushes and that they shouldn't make that said person feel as if they are crazy for that reason. Just the same as we say that Jimmy is in love with Adam, and a girl can like a girl.
Feeling as if you are different, broken, and wrong for not catching feelings for people is not ok.
If it's not ok when gays or a trans person is in that state, then it's not for Ace's.
It's not for aros, demi's, grays, and others on the spectrum either.
No amount of oppression is ok, just as no amount of catcalling and harassment toward women is.
Depriving Ace's from a safe home doesn't help LGBT+ in anyway. Allowing them apart of the community doesn't harm the LGBT in any way either. They are not using any recourses, just finding a place where they know that they are not crazy. That they are accepted.
Mkay, thanks for reading.
